On the new Dell website that collects consumer ideas, it has been found that an overwhelming amount of consumers are asking for pre-installed Linux. I also notice that most of the ideas are concerning software. This doesn't surprise me. I think many people are tired of paying for software they don't want. It will be interesting to find out how software manufacturers will feel about this if Dell moves forward. Some of the profits of PC manufacturers come from third party software manufacturers who pay them to pre-install their software. This also comes at a really bad time for Microsoft. Since Vista has been released it's been highly negatively criticized. Now, Dell may be giving people an option to use quality free software instead. I think many of us like to see the word "free"..... http://linux.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/02/25/2110219&from=rss and http://www.dellideastorm.com/
