Inspired by the best James Bond thread, I thought I'd ask who you all think was the best Dr Who?

I personally think David Tennant is doing a brilliant job. i did love Sylvester McCoy though!

I loved Chris Eccelston, but have been pleasantly surprised at how well Tennant is doing. I haven't seen his 2nd season yet, though. I am still riding a high that Rose is gone. Couldn't stand her.

David Tennant isn't too bad. Didn't they just do a spinoff which gives Rose her own show?

Captain Jack has his own show. I was looking forward to watching it... please tell me that Rose isn't on it. She is so whiny. I know she has a big following, but truly, the Doctor obviously and understandably loved Rennette more.

Maybe you are thinking of Sarah Jane? I heard she was getting her own spinoff, a detective show for kids.

I am biased because I was scared to death of the theme music to Dr. Who when I was little. I thought it was a horror show and refused to watch it. I really want to find all of those old episodes, so I can make a more informed opinion. Right now, most of my experience with the early doctors come from "The Five Doctors" movie.

I'm watching season 3 on the CBC. I don't think it starts on SciFi for a couple of weeks.

Anyone else watching? What do you think of Martha?

Not having had a new Who for awhile (save the pre-millenium movie), I took some time to get into (say, post Dalek-ish). After awhile, I really did come to like Eccleston, even over Tom Baker, then the git went and "died" on me. I'm still feeling my way into Tennant, but I do like him. Eccleston was so different from the traditional portrayal that he really did become the Tom Baker of the current generation of viewers.

I'm not a fan of Paul McGann as a doctor, so, I'd say he was the only one that'd rank low on the totem pole.

I'm looking forward to Torchwood to hit America; in fact, it's the only spin off I'm confident I'll like.

It's startling how huge an impact Eccleston gave to the role in such a short period of time. Nine was a crazy doctor. Not crazy as in "wild and", but crazy in need of therapy and possibly medication. He was amazing.

I've heard Ten goes off the deep end a bit in the upcoming season. Guess he hasn't gotten over the Time War thing after all.

How could he get over it? From what I've seen of the next season, there are lots of daleks...not to mention the reminder that, as the Face of Bo put it, he is not alone.

All the Daleks running around does highlight that whatever he did during the war may not have been such a great choice. It seems Gallifrey suffered much more than the Daleks.

Last season, though, Ten seemed to have dealt with it better than Nine. He wasn't nearly as mopey. This season, Rose's absence seems to be hitting him hard.

Since season 1, I've heard that the Master might still be around. I can see him being very torn if that is the case. On the one hand, he isn't alone. On the other, it's the Master.

I'm really looking forward to this season. I like Martha a lot better than Rose. Unfortunately I didn't get a new one this week. The CBC showed some soccer match instead.

I really like Tennant, but I haven't seen a defining moment for him yet. The scene where Nine was trapped in a room with a Dalek (can't remember the episode name -- the one with the power-hungry American collector) was so amazing. Eccelston nailed the emotions -- compassion before he knew what he was with, terror when he saw the Dalek, and mocking hatred when he realized it could not hurt him. All within a minute. Seeing him so afraid and begging was a powerful moment. He did such a great job with that scene, actually that entire episode for as Rose-centric as it was. I haven't seen anything comparable from Tennant yet.

Dalek, the actual episode name, so as to ruin the big surprise (common with many shows and ads/previews of shows)

It took 6 episodes to get to that point, of course that's all of Tennant's that I've gotten to see (I've even missed Army of Ghosts, certainly your favourite).

Either "Daleks in Manhatten" double or the "Utopia" triple episode will probably be the defining moment. There's a chance of yet-another-companion at the end of that (as well as yet-another-master by means of suggestion).

It hurts to be a year behind everyone else.

My favorite Tennant episode was the one with Madame Pompadour. There was more emotion there and I thought it was well done. "Love's Labours Won" this season was good, too. I have a Shakespeare fetish, though, so that might jut be me Smile

It is hard to be behind. I try not to get spoiled, mainly because it's so hard to tell what was shown and what is conjecture. I am looking forward to some Captain Jack this season, though.

I haven't seen the Madame Pompadour one; when I read "The Girl in the Fireplace" title on the DVR menu, I assumed it was the episode with Dickens. Crap.

I like Captain Jack too, but I think that's because I associate him with steampunk.

Did Roger Daltry play Dr. Who at one point? Or was it just someone that looked like him?

BTW, William Hartnell was the original Dr. Who.

And we found out last season that the doctor had been a dad, so Susan could have been his grand daughter after all Smile
