Best fighting game characters? Thu May 5, 2005 11:45:59 AM#11155Perm Link
Who is your best characters in fighting games? I'm looking for specifics here, people. Although this could go with any games, I'm going to keep mine to some of the newer iterations of fighting games. So, I'm best with:
Astaroth in Soul Calibur II. My second best is Voldo, and my third is a tie between Heihachi(only on the PS2) and Nightmare. I go for the heavy hitters, even though it takes a bit more time to get their strategies and strengths down pat.
Kung Lao is my best for Mortal Kombat (albeit I only have Deadly Alliance). I'm also fairly good with Hsu Hao and Jax...but that's only because they can be incredibly cheap. So that's how I manage my way through arcade mode when I don't feel like working...
Lei Fei for Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution. At first, I thought Goh would be cool, but he was a pain in the ass to fight with, so I just went with Lei Fei because he's awesome, and his moves are interesting to pull off (dare I say...fun?!).
That's about it for me, though if I was gonna go all old-school on you, I'd say my favorite Street Fighter character(s) are/were Zangief...but most of all, Vega. Vega...was so much fun to play with. I hated Dhalsim, for the record. I found him to be cheap (or maybe I just sucked...?)
Ahhh...the Assassin. He never was my cup of tea, for one reason explicitly, although it takes a little bit of explaining:
My sister is pretty much the ONLY person around these parts who is on par with me in that game, and her best character is Xianghua (along with Yunsung, Mitsurgi, and Yoshimitsu. But mostly Xianghua). And the Assassin has a very, very similar fighting style to that of Xianghua, and that makes me mad (because she beats me half the time, and losing bugs me).
I remember....I had a friend over once, and he wasn't bad, but he wasn't amazing either, and he was playing as Mitsurugi and I Astaroth, each with our best weapons (his just gave him incredible attack and defense, mine has crazy good attack, absorbed health, but you couldn't block), and I was beating him every time, and he got fed up, set his health to 150%, I beat him, he set it to 200%, I beat him, he set it Infinate, but he made a fatal mistake--he picked a random map, and we got a small map where you can fall off easily, I beat him in seconds. It was amazing. He was so angry with me.
Hehe, So true... Lets put it this way, I am a demi-god at Soul Calibur II in the college game room (I would be a god but there is one guy who eats, sleeps, and breathes Soul Calibur II and I have a life unlike him )
"If you leave you life in someone else's hands, you only have yourself to blame if you get crushed. "
Yeah, I agree but the guy doesn't use cheap moves. He mops your ass across the stage using a variety of moves that leaves you stunned and saying "What the hell, when did I die?" or " Good God, I didn't even get to attack once." .
"If you leave you life in someone else's hands, you only have yourself to blame if you get crushed. "
I'm like that against most of the schmucks around these parts. There's my sister and one other kid who's maybe a little better than me. He uses Kilik, who's a lot of fun.
I actually have to add Charade of my favorites, I forgot about him. I'm at least mediocre with just about all the characters, so I play with him a lot just for fun.
I think one of the cheapest moves in the game (PS2 and XBOX version) is Spawn's fireball. A lot of noobs try to use it on me until they actually hit me with one and I rip them apart. Then they never use Spawn again lol.
"If you leave you life in someone else's hands, you only have yourself to blame if you get crushed. "
Spawn is only on the XBox, and I've only used him once. It was a Spawn-battle of sorts, as in, we were both Spawn, and we jused kept using his levitation move against each other.
I got stuck with Captain America Spawn, though.
Speaking of console-only characters, Heihachi is awesome because I know two of his ten hit combos by heart, and one of them almost guarantees a ring out. Which pisses a lot of people off.
lol... Good God am I sleep deprived, I keep on having numerous gramatical errors and missing posts and merging video games . Oh well. Anyway, I try to defeat players without a ringout but it's funny when they think they'll ring me out and I will just move a bit and they fall off instead.
"If you leave you life in someone else's hands, you only have yourself to blame if you get crushed. "
I tend to avoid ring outs as well, but when I know I can beat them regularly, It's more fun to ring them out real quick, or better yet, let them get you near-death then ring them out.
People have been amazed and annoyed, but not angry with me. I was always the quiet one that would watch everyone else play (and figure out their strategies *evil laugh*) and when I finally played, everyone sat there stunned. Then I beat everyone but the God of Soul Calibur II himself, and was content enough (because I know I have a life unlike him).

Yeah, whenever I felt lazy playing Street Fighter, I would just pick E. Honda and tap whatever button that makes his hands go really fast and see how far I could get.
Well, in Super Street Fighter II Turbo EX Plus With a Tuna Sandwich on Top, I always used M. Bison, even when I began to not suck at Street Fighter. Being a cheap Mofo is fun.
In Tekken, I always use Eddie Gordo/Christie Montero, simply because they have pretty good range.
In Soul Caliber, I use Yoshumitsu, because his sword seems a hell of a lot more effective in that game than it ever did in a Tekken game.
In Virtua Fighter I always use either Akira or Kage, but in this case it's more of a personal preference than character differences.

The Nicktoons channel kicks ass, but only 5 people in the global population get it.
