I'm having some difficulties in creating the UArts part of ASEville. In short, it is the way that the system will work for articles.
My idea. Since I'm sure we all want a moderately well written articles to be posted on the the site, we'll have to be in the mode of approving articles. I'll be extending this privilage to people with enough site participation (points). People with enough points will be able to write and post articles with no approval needed. Those that need approval can be approved by people with a set number of points. This ensures that each lesser known member gets a lookover from a more experienced one (not that I don't trust everyone, or do I, not?).
Take it from this angle. You need X points to post an article without approval, Y points to be able to approve articles. If someone under X points writes an article, the person with Y points will be able to approve it or not. The person above X can post without approval. If someone spams the UArts, the posting privs can be revoked. Articles will be time limited, one per day. Once an article has been posted, only those with Y points can edit their articles, otherwise a siteadmin (like me) must edit the article. It is my hope that the articles are checked over before posting, but everyone has errors (including me).
I have laid out the groundwork, now it is a matter of coding and integration with ASEville. UArts will be one of the best parts of the site. I'm also thinking of having featured articles display on the main site!
