Every now and then I get these "What if...?" questions about important decisions in history. I came up with the following question while at work:
What if the UN instead of voting to partition Palestine in 1947 instead forced the Arabs and Jews to work together to form one government? What would have happened?
I'd like to see what people think would have happened in this situation.
One of two things would have happened. Either the arabs and jews would have totally been agianst it creating a war with all un countries agianst both arabs and jews, or some of them would try, while the others would devide from the group making two terroristic groups the arab terrorists and the jewish terrorists. These groups would not work together, but use the same means to get their point across making it the same as it is today, only it will be a three way battle instead of two. The main governmant, the arabic terrorists and the jewish terrorists all working to destroy eachother, rather then the "infidels"
That's one possibility, but I also wonder what would have happened if the British Government hadn't issued the Balfour Declaration of 1917 Before then, both sides worked together (ie. city governments), and the Jews even saw the Arabs as saviors at one point. Makes one wonder what would have happened...
