the sweet sorrow of death

The power was right there in front of my wary eyes, they had lost their color a couple years ago when I passed through the regions of hell. Finally I had reached my destination the dark core floated above the ground right in my reach but as I touched it my sight had become pitch black, I could hear the screams of souls before me who failed to reach this point, I could hear by brother. I screamed and hollered although I knew no one was there. I fell from that point of the sky I had reached fell into hell then bounced back to earth, then I blacked out.

“Hey, you awake??” I heard the voice calling to me and I could see the faint blur of a hand in front of my face. “Hey you shouldn’t sleep here” the same voice said again, It was becoming annoying; I gasped as I had noticed I could be back from the start at the lair of the trickster. I bolted up on my feet into a fighting stance without even looking I had known I lost my blade. “Oh so now you wake up” the voice says as my vision becomes clear as crystal. I was shocked I was no longer in Varia or hell I was on earth. I sniffled even though I was on earth I could smell some...demons or so I thought, this level of darkness was more concentrated and the ones who held this power were in control instead of rampaging monsters. My line of thought was interrupted “hey you shouldn’t zone out like that” I looked at the one how addressed me this was a 17 year old teen, he wasn’t mortal I could tell he was a paladin, nothing but trouble. His looks through me off for a split second seeing that he truly had the body of a mortal, he had blue hair and green eyes. He barely stood 59’ and he had a somewhat built body even though he was very skinny. His skin appeared just as everyone else’s he had Varia aura on him but the glow wasn’t there and neither were his wings.

“Who are you paladin” I sneer, he seemed shocked even though it had been 2 months since I had killed over five hundred paladin I had expected, more. The child quickly clued in and gestured for me to walk with him. We approached what seemed to be the house of a noble but then again everything was different, there were large metal contraptions which seemed to eat humans. There weak spot was clear though because there stomach was transparent, you could see their prey weakly fighting to get out. Also the castles looked rather strange the shoot up to the sky and it seemed there were much more peasants working but the kings and queens were not easily seen. Then there was the clothing I didn’t know what to make of it, it seemed young maidens could walk up and down the area in there undergarments. The paladin closed the door and yelled addressing his mother and father telling them he had a house guest. The nerve of them they hadn’t even come to greet me neither did there servants. We marched up a flight of stairs and entered a room where he closed the door. “Paladin what is this place” I snarl looking at the bed and several large pieces of paper which had people dressed in weird and some revealing clothing. The paladin drew a sword from thin air, I was amazed. “What sorcery is this” the paladin did not answer but he muttered the language of Varia and the room grew and the obstacles removed. He swung at me but his motions were to slow and simple he most likely didn’t use a blade much. He continued to swing but I easily evaded all of the strikes he grew impatient.

“Artizen” he slurs and his hair color changed and so did his body frame, his sword shattered and a large hammer replaced it, he was getting serious. His body became slightly larger and he was now 5.11’ his hair was holy white and his aura shined for a brief second as his clothes turned into white armor. At a blinding speed his hammer crashed into my left rib cage destroying it. I shrieked in pain so loud a harpy would cover its ears. I evaded the next bunch of hits then saw an opening, I thruster my palm into the armor, there was little to no effect. The paladin revered to his normal body and his weapons gone along with his armor. “What are you?? You knew I was a paladin and evaded my attacks with ease, yet when you tried to hit me I couldn’t even feel a hint of darkness” he states he was clearly confused. I sighed

“I am the great Tailbin Heroins” I state, although I sounded confident and strong I was about as confused as he was, I once was a great Darkling, a mortal who had accepted the darkness in his heart and got power from it. The paladin laughed “what is so funny child” I sound angered as the words escape my lips.

“Sorry it just that Tailbin killed thousands of paladin and you can’t even harm one” he chuckles some more “so who are you really and how did you know I was a paladin??” he questions, clearly not believing me.

“I have already told you who I am and you laugh at it, I don’t know what happened but I am he” I state then remember my surroundings “And where am I?? I believe I am on earth but it is so…strange” I say looking almost worried. He tells me I am in Kyoto, Japan and then he laughs as I ask what year, but I looked petrified as he said 2012. “I have been asleep of 5 million years!!” I yell grabbing and shaking the paladin wildly.

He laughs thinking that I was joking but at that moment his phone rings.
“Yeah…ok….WAIT WHAT!!” he blares into the phone then hangs it up, he looks at me then scans my clothing, they were covered in mold and dirt making me seem like a peasant but in all truth they had been the finest fabrics at one point of time. The paladin looks at me and then says “they finally were able to open the black coffin today; it had been giving off a large amount of dark energy and was sealed by some of the eldest and earliest magic. He looks at me as if I am cursed “it was believed that Tailbin had been in that coffin after reaching the original orb” he looks at me and then reverts to his original paladin form but with wings this time. He smashes the hammer against me without hesitation and I go flying out of the house and into one of the tall castles, he soon is above me relentlessly smashing the hammer on me until I hit the chambers underneath. “He is to be killed on site” the paladin finishes. I can no longer move just about every bone in my body crushed. The paladin was about to smash my head in but is stopped by a young darkling, the same age as the paladin it seems wielding a katana.
