From Thread: School Laptop Old Sun Aug 29, 2010 8:40:21 PM
I disagree. In my experience, for Windows Vista/7 64-bit, 8GB is the sweet spot; and the 840QM, while not the most powerful thing on the market (though close to it in regards to laptops) could still easily pound out enough multitasking work to use up all of 4GB. 6GB would probably be closer to the most he could use at any point in time, but at that point he might as well upgrade both sticks to 4GB instead of just one of them. That way, he wouldn't have to deal with it for a good while.

From Thread: Why aren't my high scores and unlocked stuff being saved? Old Wed Aug 25, 2010 2:38:50 PM
They are from WildTangent, and originally came on this PC. I liked playing them so much that I went and purchased the unlock codes and downloaded the full versions and then burned the installers and their unlock codes to CD. You can post your best high scores to the web and compete against others that way as well.

A good gaming laptop should have a discrete graphics solution - Tornado's right about no games with that laptop. Same for the processor, you need something more powerful to do what you want to do.

From Thread: Could this be the end of a girl or a friend? Old Thu Aug 19, 2010 11:10:26 PM

Said By MOOT

First of all, suicide is stupid, you live you do stuff you die thats the natural order, if you kill yourself, you throw the whole thing outta wack, and guess who has to clean it up? not you, your dead, gone, bye-bye, cya later chum. no its not you, its all the sane people you love who don't give a damn about your death, all they care about is your life, so if your thinking death is the easy way out, its not, in fact, its a terribly hard thing to Accomplish, and its even harder to clean up afterwords, so quite your bitchin' and do your school work, kiss your bosses ass, whatever it takes, just do it on your own time and don't waste mine.

Nice rhyme and I agree.
Edit: Sakamae, if you see this, I hope you read my edited signature. ;)

From Thread: The PS3 has been hacked, but probably not the way you might have expected. at ASE Labs Old Thu Aug 19, 2010 2:16:10 PM
I felt the same way. I love that someone has finally found a viable, consistent and unbeatable way of doing it, but I really don't like the way that they got it done (to the extent that I'm not sure if I even want to buy one at this point, whereas normally I'd be all over something like this). I'm sure some enterprising dude in Hong Kong will figure out a way to reverse engineer both the hardware and the software so they can emulate the functionality, though.

From Thread: Deleting dual boot Old Wed Aug 18, 2010 1:12:37 PM
No, you can keep GRUB.

GRUB uses a file to keep track of what to do and what to offer to boot.

/boot/grub/menu.lst

Edit that file. You can change the "timeout" value to something low. Don't pick 0 if you want at least a second to press escape at the prompt.

Unhash the "hiddenmenu" to hide the selection.

Change the "default" to whatever boot your Windows is residing at or move it to the top of the boot menu.

http://makingtheswitch.wordpress.com/2007/04/29/changing-grub-boot-order-to-boot-windows-xp-before-ubuntu/ gives you an example file to explain better.

I played this when it came out because a friend talked me into buying it, but Steam sucks so bad that it made things miserable to play. Why must Steam have such high pings? I mean every game I have ever tried through steam has given a min of 160+ ping where all my other games not through Steam, I get around 45-60.

Steam, I banish you back to the Hell from which you came.

Much better, or the crocodile fuck house.
