From Thread: Need help connecting HTPC to TV! Old Mon Aug 2, 2010 2:03:00 AM
I've never seen an onboard video controller that offered any kind of TV out. I'm not even going to suggest a scan converter as an option. A cheap, bottom level graphics card would probably be cheaper than a decent scan converter, and would net you a (largely insignificant) boost in performance as well.

The problem is that most low-range GPUs no longer come with any kind of TV out, because it is cheaper to just to include HDMI, VGA and/or DVI (as well as the fact that nVidia drivers, and possibly ATi ones as well, no longer support S-Video in Windows 7); however, make sure you end up getting a modern one. Sub-$40 GPUs do contain cutdown versions of perfectly modern cards, but there is also a bunch of really terrible and outdated stuff among them like GeForce FX5200s and Radeon 7000s (the Wal-Mart website even has a rebadge of that lovely bottom tier junk dating to 2001, the GeForce MX440). There are GeForce 8400s available with S-Video out, so see you can find one of them that you are okay with.

Maybe I should have added the Romulan and Klingon Empires to the mix... if they were also involved, what would happen likely, and who'd be the winner(s)?

Personally, I think they would ally with the Federation like they did against the Dominion and Breen alliance. The winner would then be this alliance.

Their latest update crippled VideoDownloader functionality. How in the hell am I supposed to load my PS3 up with completely inane shit when I can't directly download the videos as mp4 files?

Thankfully, I can still download the HD videos without problem, which is good because Flash sucks so much that I can't possibly watch them unless I put them on the Triple.

The Arctic K381 Gaming Keyboard represents a minimalistic design with a good overall feel. Combined with a good price, the keyboard is a recommended purchase, especially for LAN parties.

Yeah, I figured as much. Either way, I figure if enough of us complain... it *might*, just **might** get taken off whenever the 2.2 update comes out. (I'm on 2.1 right now.. and it's current, according to the in-phone update checker thingy.)

From Thread: How the hell did we ever put up with Windows 9X? Old Tue Jul 20, 2010 10:53:53 PM
Yeah. The Windows XP and Ubuntu setups went off without a hitch. And an awful lot of this hardware is being repurposed from prior computers, so I know it has worked in the past.

The very first error was because (stupid me) forgot to adjust the Memory Cache and physical memory settings. Every error after that has been some hardware related thing that says is a problem even though I know it isn't one.

For example, I got the "Please insert the following disk in drive D (or your CD-ROM drive)" error when it started formatting in Windows 98 setup which didn't go away until I reformatted, and then deleted the partition for, the hard drive using the Windows XP installation disc. The most common recurring one was that Windows apparently would not start under any circumstances unless I installed the motherboard chipset drivers (specifically, the "Your multi-function device (Standard Dual PCI IDE Controller) has some child devices using 32-bit drivers and others using computability-mode drivers. This configuration is not supported, so your computer has been halted to prevent corruption." error)... until I restarted the computer and it worked fine.

There are alot more, but those were the most annoying ones.
