»Dell Picks Ubuntu For Computers

Dell will begin selling PCs with Ubuntu on them soon. The community will benefit from things like this. Expect Linux to become much more mainstream when makers support it fully.

Quote

At the end of May, the No. 2 PC maker will begin selling some consumer-focused laptop and desktop models with Ubuntu's new "Feisty Fawn" version of Linux installed, Dell spokesman Kent Cook said. The company plans to announce the Linux move Tuesday on its IdeaStorm Web site, launched in February to gather feedback directly from customers about what they want. When buying the Dell systems, customers will have the option to purchase support from Ubuntu backer Canonical, said Jane Silber, the start-up's director of operations.

From Thread: Solar Powered Water Heater Old Tue May 1, 2007 5:48:38 AM
Oh! I think I know what you did. A couple I know moved to a rural area where they had to build everything because there was nothing in there. They did build a solar powered electric plant, but before, they had already hot water: He put a very garden hose curled around over a ceiling that was metal, and had water in it, it was maybe 20 meters from the house where they took the shower. So, when they opened the water it was already heated by the sun, and they had hot water during the day and warm at night. I wish you could upload a picture of it,but I can imagine it.

»New GPL: Good Or No Good?

I guess that many companies are not liking the new GPL due to the anti-DRM clauses in it. I say yay and others say nay. Boohoo.

[QUOTE:1177957716]The FSF is strongly hostile to DRM. The first draft of the v3 revision expressed this philosophy directly: "This license intrinsically disfavors technical attempts to restrict users' freedom to copy, modify and share copyrighted works. Each of its provisions shall be interpreted in light of this specific declaration of the licensor's intent," and, while the words may have been toned down, the anti-DRM tune remains loud and clear. The FSF's position on DRM is not new. What is new is a fundamental change in the reach of the license terms that makes that hostility more of a threat.[/QUOTE:1177957716]

I still love the show but not as much as when it first started. It really just depends on your tastes and if "you were there since the beginning, then you understand this." sort of thing. Somewhat of an elitist fangroup if you will. That was how the whole promo that caused the bomb scare in Boston was...if you know what this is, you're cool, the rest of you are just oblivious or don't need to care. What made me mad the most was that everything is a bomb to everyone nowadays...just like you can sue anyone for anything too.

From Thread: More on ASE.FM Old Sun Apr 29, 2007 4:37:16 PM
I thought I'd give a bit of what I am planning for ASE.FM.

Like people noted, there is already a way to track music you are listening to and this is not the goal of ASE.FM. Instead, ASE.FM will be an online radio station for everyone. You will be able to upload your own content to stream to the world. All this is in the planning stages for that part but I also plan on hosting talk segments and such for the new radio station.

Get your ogg streaming players ready for the best radio station to come.
