Video Card Memory Diagnostic Sat Jul 23, 2005 11:34:02 AM#12341Perm Link
I've been getting a lot of random crashes when playing games lately. The system is perfectly stable when running any other applications. Microsoft's memory diagnostic says that my system memory is fine, but windows says that hardware memory corruption is likely when I look at the error report. Can you recomend a free diagnostic for video cards?
When you say crashes do you get any error messages?
WinXP will give you the good ole BSOD> The numbers it shows are important and can be traced easily to help identify the problem.
I'm having the same problem. There are no wierd artifacts, and no error screens. My computer just randomly restarts. I have an evga geforce 6600, if that helps.
I've had random restart problems before, and could not even figure out the problem until many months later. The blue screen mentioned something about nv4_disp.dll, so I tried reinstalling my video card drivers. But that didn't help. Eventually, my power supply began to make a loud grinding noise, and had to be replaced (it was still under warranty). Then everything was okay.
