I said it to you because you're the one who seemed to need clarification for what I had said. But the you in my statement was not referring to you, it was referring to the non-specific subject of my explanation - in this case, people who dislike things based purely on overhyping. I apologize if my explanation made it sound as if I was referring to you.

Don't be an ass. I'm not insulting you here, there's no reason you should be insulting me. In anycase, perhaps we're not aware of the same term, but in my experience as "general you" is referred to when you use the term "you" in reference to a non-specific person.
