Looking for headphones. Mon Mar 17, 2008 5:21:52 PM#50313Perm Link
After 3 years of faithful service, my damn-near indestructible Koss UR21C headphones have finally started to go, with the left speaker starting to go down in volume compared to the right one.
What I am looking for to replace them is something relatively cheap (under $35.00 hopefully), sturdy and comfortable. I'm hoping to find another set of headphones with as good noise isolation and bass as the Koss' had, and to be honest the thought of noise canceling headphones has not crossed my mind (I find the idea silly). Also pretty much required is padding that goes around your ear.
It is entirely possible for me to say the hell with it and just buy another set of UR21s (or their successor, the KHP/21V), so I am just wondering if there are any alternatives on the market in a similar price range. The UR20s (also by Koss) have peaked my interest as well, but I don't really want any more cord than 4 feet.
Michael: Jodie, how's my schedule look for today? Jodie: You've got a conference and dinner party at the Japanese Embassy regarding wildlife protection. Michael: Oh, yeah...sorry, but I'll have to cancel that. I'm heading out to save America!
I would say the Stealsound 5H, but it is out of that range. I like the 3H as well. They are in your price range, but may not cover your ears as well as other ones. They have very good bass and the volume produced is excellent. It has no volume control on the headphones itself, though.
2014 is going to be a good year. More content, more streamlining. Be a part of history!
Volume control on headphones is a pretty useless feature, in my uses The Steelsound 3Hs look interesting, though the microphone kind of scares me (I'm worried it might break off). Is it retractable like the mic in the 4H is? If it is that might have just shot to the top of my list.

Its sad. I would love the 4H, but I cannot stand headphones where cords come out of each can. At the same time, I love the 3H, but half cans don't do it for me (I had a set of 4 speaker headphones once that had great audio quality, but everything else was bad. They were half cans with double wires and an 8 foot cord).
Off to more looking, it seems.

If you still don't sure which headphones should you buy I would recommend you to visit TestFreaks, choose headphones category and sort models by score: http://www.testfreaks.com/headphones-headsets/?sort=score
Such way you'll see which headphones have the best ratings, based on expert and user reviews from all over the world.
I think this is the most objective way to find the best ones.
Hope it will help
It's been a while with my tecra m4 and my pair of sony in ear headphones have died. Thus I am looking to buy a good pair of headphones to replace them. However I was wondering wether or not I should also upgrade the sound card. I'm not much of an audiophile since my last computer a much older desktop had a native sound card and by comparison the laptop sounds much better. So I'm not sure if I would notice a difference. Also what sound card and what pair of headphones should I buy? I just can't figure out what to get since I don't know much about sound and there are so many headphones and technologies to choose from. I don't mind paying for quality, but only if I can actually hear a difference. I mainly want it to watch movies and play a few games at night without waking anyone else up.

I think you may have bought headphones. But i want to say some about headphones.
Popular online site eBay is a great source to find bargain prices for headphones. On any given day, you can find excellent deals on new and gently used goodies for your headphones. The selection varies greatly from one point in time to another, so don’t get frustrated if you can’t find what you want the first time you check out the site. Similar to eBay, I found a website that is offering headphones at great prices. Check out this.
