New cell sites help Washoe County, Nevada residents and visitors make more calls, download more apps and stay connected

RENO, Nev., Feb. 27, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Calling, downloading apps and surfing the web on the Verizon Wireless network is now easier and faster for residents and travelers in Washoe County thanks to new cell sites in Reno and Sparks. The sites improve wireless coverage and capacity in the following areas:

    --  Reno: Spans West McCarran and Interstate-80
    --  Sparks: Spans Glendale Boulevard and Industrial

The YA-S10 Converter System control box focuses on image alignment with each of the projectors in the Stacking System. When the YA-S10 Converter System correction box is connected, both projectors can also project high brightness images at any angle making the Projector Stacking System ideal for digital signage, sports bars, house of worship and many large venue applications.

When used separately Casio's YA-S10 Converter System enables users to project images onto curved pillars, round areas, flat surfaces or any unique shape. The system is set up to adjust any image misalignment or distortion without the need for additional hardware. Using the YA-S10 Converter System with any Casio LampFree(TM) projector, images can be corrected for curved surfaces using free-form surface compensation with a lattice of up to 81 grid points for adjustments.

Both the Projector Stacking System and Convex System are powered by Casio's state-of-the-art LASER & LED HYBRID Light Source, which provides Lamp-Free, eco-friendly data projection at a percentage of the cost of traditional projectors. Casio's LASER & LED Hybrid Light Source combines blue laser light and a fluorescent element to generate a high output of green light. The green light, blue laser light, and the light emitted by a red LED are projected through a DLP® chip which, in turn, is passed through the projection lens to form an image. This technology achieves an increase in color spectrum compared with a mercury lamp, while lowering a projector's total cost of ownership and maximizing investment. Since there is only minimal loss of brightness even during long-term use, it is ideal for those heavy-duty applications involving frequent use of projection such as retail stores, grocery stores, restaurants, offices and other environments. Earlier this month, the Senate passed an inclusive version of the Violence Against Women Act reauthorization bill with the support of all senators except John Barrasso (Wyo.), Roy Blunt (Mo.), John Boozman (Ark.), Tom Coburn (Okla.), John Cornyn (Texas), Ted Cruz (Texas), Mike Enzi (Wyo.), Lindsey Graham (S.C.), Chuck Grassley (Iowa), Orrin Hatch (Utah), James Inhofe (Okla.), Mike Johanns (Neb.), Ron Johnson (Wisc.), Mike Lee (Utah), Mitch McConnell (Ky.), Rand Paul (Ky.), Jim Risch (Idaho), Pat Roberts (Kansas), Marco Rubio (Fla.), Jeff Sessions (Ala.), John Thune (S.D.) and Tim Scott (S.C.).

On Friday, House Republican leaders unveiled a watered-down version of the Senate bill that excludes LGBTQ protections and alters language related to Native American victims of domestic violence. The House is expected to vote on the bill later this week.

One in four women have experienced severe physical violence by an intimate partner. Between 1993 and 2010, the Violence Against Women Act helped decrease intimate partner violence by 67 percent.

Coverage Includes Basketball, Wrestling and, for the First Time, Hockey

NEWARK, N.J., Feb. 27, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --Fans of New Jersey high school sports will be able to watch the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association state boys and girls Tournament of Champions in basketball, wrestling -- and for the first time, the state hockey championships - exclusively on FiOS1 on Verizon's FiOS TV service.

Through Verizon's partnership with the Star Ledger/NJ.com, FiOS1 Channel 1 will air more than 30 high school playoff and championship games, starting with boys basketball NJSIAA North 2 Group 4 First Round Union at Elizabeth on March 1 at 7:30 p.m.  Games will air Monday through Sunday throughout March.  All FiOS1 viewers in central and northern New Jersey will have access to the programming.

AT&T has made more than 650 wireless network upgrades in six key categories in Connecticut during 2012, including activating new cell sites, adding capacity, upgrading cell sites to provide fast 4G LTE mobile Internet speeds, deploying high-capacity Ethernet connections to cell sites, and adding or upgrading Distributed Antenna Systems, which boost wireless coverage and capacity in buildings and at major venues like convention halls or sports arenas.

As part of Project VIP, AT&T plans to increase the density of its wireless network by deploying more than 10,000 macro sites, more than 1,000 distributed antenna systems, and more than 40,000 small cells.
