PowerbyProxi Announces Availability of Evaluation Kits for Integrated Wireless Charging Smartphone Solution
Will demo advanced wireless power solution for smartphones at Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona
PLEASANTON, Calif., Feb. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- PowerbyProxi, (http://www.powerbyproxi.com.) developer of the world's most advanced and safest wireless power solutions, today announced availability of evaluation kits for its new integrated wireless charging smartphone solution. PowerbyProxi is the first company in the industry to offer prospective customers an opportunity to evaluate demonstration units. PowerbyProxi will also be participating in Pepcom's MobileFocus Global event, Sunday, February 24th at 7pm in the Palau de Congressos de Catalynya in Barcelona.
PowerbyProxi's loosely-coupled wireless charging solution offers a number of key benefits over other approaches. It has designed a miniature receiver, efficient enough to be integrated into the processor board of a smartphone without causing over-heating, which works with a transmitter to provide complete spatial freedom of positioning on a sleek charging pad. While previous industry designs have resulted in longer charging times than if the device were plugged into a wall socket, PowerbyProxi's solution provides charging at the same speed as wired charging. A demonstration can be viewed here: http://youtu.be/NuLuAVJXJfc. "We are confident that we have produced the most advanced wireless charging system available for smartphones," said Greg Cross, chairman, PowerbyProxi. "We believe that the key benefits of our approach, including spatial freedom and thermal management, are pre-requisites to the future development and wider adoption of wireless power for consumer electronics applications."
In summary, PowerbyProxi's solution comprises:
-- The first system capable of being fully integrated into a smartphone:
the receiver circuit and coil can fit inside a smartphone alongside
other components with no modification to the device itself. No covers,
sleeves or additional add-ons
-- The only system available that can charge up to three devices
simultaneously at full power
-- The only wireless charging system that can charge devices at full wired
speed offering a charge time equivalent to wired chargers
-- Advanced thermal management during charging. PowerbyProxi's system
ensures that the main components of the device - the battery, back cover
and LCD screen - do not overheat or damage the device when streaming
video/music during charging
-- The system has built-in foreign object detection so coins, keys,
silverware, and other metal objects, do not overheat. Remains at room
temperature while on the pad and while other devices are charging
-- PowerbyProxi meets all safety (RF exposure) requirements for safe
operation of the device
PowerbyProxi is a member of the CEA working group for wireless power standards although the company remains agnostic towards the selection of an ultimate standard and will continue to design and build the most advanced wireless charging solution regardless of which standard is selected.

Cambium Networks Deploys World's First IP Wireless GIGATOWER(TM) To Expand Global Service Provider Broadband Reach
North American Service Provider Leverages Cambium GIGATOWER(TM) to Deliver More Than 1 Gigabit of Broadband Capacity from a Single Tower
Cambium to Showcase GIGATOWER(TM) and a Revolutionary Small Cell Backhaul Solution at Next Week's 2013 Mobile World Congress
ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. and ASHBURTON, England, Feb. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Cambium Networks(TM), a leading provider of IP wireless broadband access and transport solutions, has introduced the GIGATOWER(TM), a new wireless broadband access solution that delivers the industry's highest level of throughput for enterprises and triple-play service providers worldwide. Based on the Canopy point-to-multipoint (PMP) 450 platform, the GIGATOWER enables service providers to further expand capacity to existing customers and offer high capacity broadband to new customers in urban, suburban and rural environments. Cambium will be showcasing the new GIGATOWER solution at the 2013 Mobile World Congress (MWC) conference, taking place Feb. 25 - 28 in Barcelona, Spain; Hall 5, Stand 5B102.
Service providers and network operators around the globe use PMP access networks to provide significantly higher bandwidth in non-line-of-sight (NLoS) and line-of-sight (LoS) applications. Utilizing both licensed and unlicensed bands, Canopy's installed base of four million modules provides broadband services for demanding enterprise and residential use. For those looking to deploy a more extensive network, the PMP 450's modular design allows the GIGATOWER to provide more than 1 gigabit of broadband capacity and extend coverage area to more than 75 square miles (120 square kilometers).
"Service providers need innovative solutions to deliver broadband to their users. Fiber/DSL is an expensive solution that lacks symmetrical capability. It has generally been deployed where it's economically viable, leaving many customers underserved (unable to achieve the speeds and symmetry they desire) and unserved due to their proximity to fiber. The PMP 450 and new GIGATOWER offer the ability to deploy in greenfield locations or to overlay existing DSL footprint with a solution that delivers HD video and IPTV, voice and data services at a cost point that truly changes broadband economics," said Jay Hilbert, senior vice president of Global Sales, Cambium Networks. "We are also introducing an entirely new architecture, the PTP-C (TM), (Point-to-Point Cluster) for small cell backhaul among other applications. It's our more than 10 years' experience as the wireless IP market leader and our deep engineering expertise in NLoS and interference mitigation that have enabled us to redefine the function and form factor that will revolutionize how small cell backhaul will be deployed in years to come."
Service Providers Worldwide Turning to Cambium Networks
Among the most innovative broadband providers using the PMP 450 is JAB Broadband, a wireless service provider based in the U.S. JAB is also the first service provider to roll out the new GIGATOWER solution, providing a cost-effective way for the company to reach underserved (customers not able to obtain the speeds they need from DSL) and unserved customers.
"The Canopy PMP 450 platform enables speed and unprecedented NLoS capability," said Bret Westwood, chief technical manager, vice president of network operations, JAB Broadband. "The performance of our network improved by up to five times since deploying the PMP 450. By incorporating the PMP 450 and new GIGATOWER configuration, we can guarantee the performance our enterprise and residential customers are looking for. Our enterprise business has been growing significantly as businesses realize that ADSL cannot meet their need for speed or their desire for symmetrical solutions to support cloud computing and video conferencing. Our investment in Cambium Networks continues to deliver big returns."
Backhaul Solutions Support Small Cells and LTE Deployments
Carriers are also aggressively employing small cells to increase capacity in urban areas and provide coverage where gaps exist. Cambium enables carriers to rapidly deploy reliable small cell backhaul or macro-base station LTE backhaul solutions that can connect where fiber and copper are not available or cost prohibitive. During the 2013 MWC, Cambium will be rolling out a unique and revolutionary solution for small-cell backhaul.

DomainTools' Brand Monitor Extends Coverage to over 50 of the Most Popular Top Level Domains
Brand Monitor helps guard brands and trademarks by constantly scouring the Web for domain registrations that contain brand names, trademarked terms, or text strings
SEATTLE, Feb. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- DomainTools, the leader in domain-name research and monitoring, today announces the re-launch of its market-leading Brand Monitor product to extend coverage to over 50 of the most popular top level domains (TLDs) including those with over 100,000 registered domains. DomainTools' updated Brand Monitor helps police cybersquatting across the largest domain markets worldwide, assisting brand managers and trademark owners with protecting the value of their online assets.
With the impending explosion of new generic TLDs slated for later this year, the playing field for domain name abuse is about to be greatly expanded. Vigilant brand owners need to consider not only defensive domain registration strategies, but also proactive monitoring of the new "wild west" of domains and TLDs. This revolution in web navigation brings increased threat of cybersquatting, trademark abuse, and spear phishing, all of which can be driven by malfeasant domain registrations.
In response to this new environment, DomainTools has rebuilt and relaunched a significantly enhanced Brand Monitor product, one which can quickly adapt to the launch of new gTLDs. As part of this expansion, the Brand Monitor product also now covers over 50 TLDs, including the 25 largest Country Code TLDs (ccTLDs). E-business, like the internet, is global in nature and the most effective monitoring tools have to cover more than .com and .net.
"Whether you're protecting a trademark, monitoring your competition or looking for industry-specific domains to add to your portfolio, Brand Monitor gives you actionable intelligence," said Tim Chen, CEO of DomainTools. "Industry experts are predicting the impending launch of new gTLDs will revolutionize Web navigation, bringing with it higher security risks and increased threats to trademark and brand protection."
Brand Monitor sends alerts when DomainTools observes a newly found domain name that uses any term or phrase a customer has specified.
Brand Monitor has many applications:
-- Proactively monitor important company brands or trademarks, helping to
protect intellectual property.
-- Stealthily monitor competitors' domain name registrations to help stay
on top of their strategies.
-- Defensively monitor common brand typos to help signal possible phishing
attempts or cybersquatting.
Brand Monitor is available to Professional-level DomainTools members as part of their membership. Professional members can continuously monitor any 10 terms. Higher volume users can access this same Brand Monitor data via API. Visit DomainTools' membership details page to learn more about available Brand Monitor packages.

Fujitsu Now Shipping MB86L11, Second Multimode, Multiband LTE Transceiver Chip for 2G/3G/4G
Fujitsu Plans LTE Advanced Single IC Samples in 2013
TEMPE, Ariz., Feb. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Fujitsu Semiconductor Wireless Products, Inc. (FSWP) today announced that its second LTE multimode product, the MB86L11 2G/3G/4G transceiver, is shipping in commercial quantities. The MB86L11 is a single chip multiband, multimode transceiver that supports all wireless communication modes including LTE (FDD & TDD), HSPA+, DC-HSPA, WCDMA, GSM, EDGE, CDMA and TD-SCDMA. The MB86L11 transceiver incorporates many advanced features, including envelope tracking (ET) and antenna tuning (AT). The Fujitsu MB86L11 appeals to customers with its low power architecture and reduced part count for mobile devices. The product has already been utilized in a number of commercial applications beginning in September, 2012, giving it a proven track record of supporting multimode, multiband devices with a single IC.
"Fujitsu's RF team continues to deliver world-class multimode multiband RF transceivers and later this year will begin offering single IC solutions supporting LTE-Advanced mode (MB86L30) in industry-leading area and footprint dimensions," said Vivek Bhan, Executive Vice President. "The LTE-Advanced RFIC utilizes an innovative architecture to cover 3GPP Release 10 & 11 features while minimizing total system size, cost and power consumption in complex MIMO-enabled devices."
Fujitsu was one of the first device manufacturers to introduce transceivers supporting LTE. Fujitsu's first 2G/3G/4G(LTE) transceiver (MB86L10) was sampled in late 2009 and has been shipping in commercial products such as smartphones, tablets and portable dongles since the second quarter of 2010.
Fujitsu's LTE-focused multiband transceivers have been certified in multiple regions with multiple operators. These transceivers are deployed by multiple baseband providersworldwide, because they support the entire frequency range of 700 to 2700 MHz, function in all modes of operation, and support a high number of simultaneous bands and modes in a single product configuration, covering almost any operator's needs for domestic use and global roaming.
Fujitsu has been shipping its earlier generation 2G/3G transceiver (MB86L01) since 2009 in smartphones, tablets and dongles. The MB86L01A was the industry's first commercial solution eliminating the need for interstage SAWs and LNAs for 3G, and paved the way towards SAW-less LTE transceivers.

Innovations for a world in motion from Nokia Siemens Networks at #MWC13
BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobile World Congress -- Leading up to the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2013, Nokia Siemens Networks has launched a series of new products, upgrades and services that can help operators deliver a gigabyte of personalized data, per user, per day, profitably. Along with the recently launched innovations, other groundbreaking technologies, including a fundamentally different way for operators to deliver content, will be on show at the company's Experience Center at MWC 2013 in Barcelona next week.
With mobile traffic expected to grow up drastically, operators need to flexibly grow capacity, optimize their mix of technology and use of spectrum, and allocate their resources where they are needed the most. They also need to significantly increase capacity in high-traffic areas by adding small cells to complement their macro network.
Nokia Siemens Networks will demonstrate how operators can use its new Flexi Zone innovations to solve street level small cell deployment challenges. Operators can address these issues by introducing steerable and resilient street level backhaul, utilizing new small cell network planning capabilities that leverage application data from social networks for more accurate small cell deployments, and balancing the load or shifting capacity between macro and small cell layers to address the 'ebb and flow' of traffic created by subscribers' movements across the network to provide optimum HetNet performance at all times.
Also as part of its small cells offering, Nokia Siemens Networks will exhibit its new indoor enterprise and public HSPA+ and LTE Femtocells. Another way to add capacity is to use unlicensed spectrum, which Nokia Siemens Networks guest Smart Wi-Fi will use to allow visitors to the company stand to experience how easy-to-use and secure operator controlled Smart Wi-Fi can be as part of a HetNet environment.
In a world where smartphone and tablet users consume more and more data, operators need to look at ways of putting their existing resources to better use. In a live demonstration using Qualcomm prototype test devices, Nokia Siemens Networks will showcase how operators can get more out of their 900 MHz re-farmed GSM spectrum with Dual Band-Dual Cell HSPA+ that enables higher data rates of up to 42 Mbps (megabits per second).
Even voice will become data. To be able to take full advantage of LTE, operators need to provide IMS-based high definition VoLTE with additional rich services. Nokia Siemens Networks will be showing a VoLTE call running both on a commercially available network and on a virtualized IMS and TAS (telecommunication application server) core applications while showing how virtualized Liquid Core is managed.
As the underlying network becomes increasingly complex, Nokia Siemens Networks provides a suite of products and services to simplify operations. The company will demonstrate how the SON (self organizing network) Operations Manager, powered by Nokia Siemens Networks' Operations on Demand, provides detailed views, control, coordination and prioritization for all simultaneously active SON functions while protecting packet core network from load peaks and potentially saving up to 30% in total cost of ownership expenditure.
In a world where demand moves towards #1GBperday$, operators need to provide a superior customer experience for a steadily growing mobile broadband customer base. At the event, Nokia Siemens Networks will show how operators can differentiate mobile broadband services by using new CEM capabilities - now also for LTE - by correlating network information with device type, over the top (OTT) services and subscriber data in real time. This allows operators to prioritize actions to proactively solve network issues, and ensure both service quality and positive customer experience.
Nokia Siemens Networks will top off the launches by extending its 'Liquid Net' approach by giving mobile base stations an entirely new role in the communications ecosystem and changing the game in content delivery.
For more information about the launches and demos, visit us at Mobile World Congress, Hall 3, Booth 3B14, where visitors can get postcards of themselves with CEM insight and action examples. If you are not attending the event, take a virtual tour of the Experience Center and join the #1GBperday$ webinar series starting on March 6, 2013. Registration for the series is open now: http://www.nokiasiemensnetworks.com/1GBperday. For updates during the event, follow @NokiaSiemensNet on Twitter and join the discussion using #1GBperday$ and #MWC13.
Nokia Siemens Networks media and analyst briefing will be held at Hesperia Towers, Gran Via 144, Barcelona at 18:30 CET on Sunday, February 24. The briefing is for accredited journalists and industry analysts only.

Expanded 4G LTE Coverage, New Cell Sites and Boosted Capacity Drive Improved Customer Experience

"Broadband access is a priority we often hear about as we travel around the state, no matter the location, because it is such a powerful driver for economic development," said Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley. "This investment by AT&T to expand its mobile Internet network will help more people and businesses stay connected in today's fast-moving technological world."
"Across Michigan, this robust investment in the AT&T wireless and wireline networks is important to spurring the economy and creating jobs. Through this initiative, we also plan to:

LONDON, February 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Apical is pleased to announce that Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a wholly owned
subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, will support its Assertive Display(R) technology in
Qualcomm Snapdragon(TM) 800 processors.
Assertive Display is a new technology which makes the display adaptive to its viewing
environment. By employing sophisticated video processing algorithms based on research into
human vision, the mobile display is continuously adjusted to deliver a consistent,
high-quality experience in all conditions, including those in which content would be
otherwise unwatchable.
The result is that the multimedia experience is maintained everywhere, even in bright
sunshine. Assertive Display-enabled devices typically consume at least 30% less display
power, leading to significant battery life extensions. Viewing comfort is maximized by
ensuring that the display is neither too dark nor too bright for the eyes.
Assertive Display has been featured in devices from smartphones by manufacturers such
as Sharp and Huawei to HDTVs by Bang & Olufsen.
Qualcomm Technologies supports Apical's latest, third-generation Assertive Display
technology, which operates with minimal software load and very low power consumption for
even the highest display resolutions.
Says Michael Tusch, CEO of Apical, "We are excited that a mobile pioneer like Qualcomm
Technologies is supporting Assertive Display and making it available to its customers this
year. Qualcomm Technologies' leadership in the mobile industry could help enable a wide
range of smartphone and tablet makers to adopt the technology and their users to start
getting a great multimedia experience wherever they happen to be."

Forno, Adult Entertainment for Smart TV, Increases Focus on Russian Market
LONDON, February 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Since its launch on Smart TVs in Russia, adult app forno has refocused its attention
on the Eastern European market to cater for the fast increasing Smart TV penetration and
usage.
As international providers of adult entertainment for Smart TVs, forno are now
focussing their attention on the Russian market following the significant increase in
Smart TV penetration and usage.
Forno's marketing director explains, "When we went live in Russia in October last year
we expected some organic growth, but not to the extent we've seen. Smart TV penetration
and usage and the take-up of the forno service in Russia have made us re-assess our
marketing strategy across Europe."
"In December and January we saw Russian registrations increase by 40% and then 55%
from previous months," he adds. "To help reach our Russian audience, we've recently
implemented a Russian language website and added the facility to pay in Roubles. We'll
also boost our marketing activity in Russia throughout 2013."
"We are still dealing with early adopters of Smart TVs - we know that in Western
Europe Smart TV penetration and usage is still relatively limited, so the surge of Russian
registrations shows us that Russian consumers are adopting Smart TV technology quicker
than in most western European territories."
Forno provides users with the largest collection of adult movies available on Smart
TVs. With thousands of titles from all the top adult studios from around the world, users
can register for free on the TV or on the website. Forno offers a range of options from
12-hour unlimited passes to monthly subscriptions with a range of price options available.
Forno is available on a range of Smart TV devices.
About forno

TVs and other connected TV devices. It is free to register and provides TV viewers with
the greatest depth and range of adult material via their Smart TV. Viewers are guaranteed
a safe and secure experience, free from the threat of internet virus and other malware

"Working together with private industries, we can increase economic development throughout our state," Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant said. "With the right infrastructure in place, we will continue to advance the economic success of cities and towns throughout Mississippi."
"AT&T is able to make these significant investments because our Governor, Lt. Governor, Speaker and legislative leaders continue to create a business-friendly environment that encourages private investment and innovation," said Mayo Flynt, president, AT&T Mississippi. "We thank them for the work they do every day to attract investment, jobs and economic development to our state."
"We know our customers depend on us for fast, reliable mobile Internet connections at home, work and everywhere in between," said Joe Larussa, AT&T vice president and general manager, Gulf States. "Delivering for our Mississippi customers is a top priority and our ongoing investment here is designed to deliver a superior mobile Internet experience, encompassing speed, coverage and reliability."
AT&T launched 4G LTE in the Jackson, Pascagoula, Hattiesburg, Oxford and Starkville areas in 2012. AT&T 4G LTE is the latest generation of wireless network technology and provides faster mobile Internet speeds and improved performance on a variety of mobile smartphones and tablets.

LifeVibes VoiceExperience Gives Samsung Galaxy Note II a Clear Voice
EINDHOVEN, The Netherlands, February 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
NXP Software, a world leader in mobile multimedia software, announces the deployment
of its LifeVibes VoiceExperience on the Samsung Galaxy Note II. The solution illustrates
the successful, seamless integration of LifeVibes VoiceExperience on the Qualcomm MDM9615
LTE modem used in the Samsung Galaxy Note II for the Korean market.
LifeVibes VoiceExperience is fully API compatible with the Qualcomm QDSP Elite
framework. This allows Samsung to integrate the software without having to make any
changes to the framework, therefore enabling a short time to market.
A clear voice with Superior performance
Furthermore, benchmark tests carried out by Samsung showed that VoiceExperience
delivers a superior performance compared to competing solutions. The improvement is
particularly noticeable when calling with wideband mode (known as HD Voice), as well as in
speakerphone mode. A good, full-duplex speakerphone performance is especially difficult to
achieve, as the loudspeaker volume is high and strong echoes are typically present.
"We are very proud that our voice enhancement software contributes to the experience
that Samsung wants for its devices. Excellent full-duplex performance in speakerphone
mode, seamless integration on QDSP and expert local support make for a winning
combination," says Nicolas Sauvage, Director of OEM Business Line.
LifeVibes VoiceExperience
NXP Software is a leader in voice quality enhancement for mobile devices. Its
LifeVibes VoiceExperience enables natural, comfortable communication over phone networks
and IP-based channels such as Skype and Google Talk. It improves the intelligibility of
speech, eliminates echo and distortion, and minimizes stationary and non-stationary
background noise (such as traffic or crowds). VoiceExperience software is available on all
the popular hardware and software platforms, and uses the same proven engine for voice
calls, video telephony and VoIP, and is HD Voice compatible.

Orange, Ericsson and Qualcomm have successfully completed the world's first live demonstration of supplemental downlink technology on L-band frequencies
PARIS, Feb. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Orange, Ericsson and Qualcomm Incorporated, through its wholly owned subsidiary, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., have successfully used L-band frequencies to demonstrate the use of supplemental downlink technology on a mobile network, thereby confirming the potential of this approach to increase mobile broadband capacity and enhance user experience. The demonstration was carried out on Orange's network in Toulouse, France, on 21 February 2013. The performance and benefits of this technology will be unveiled during the Mobile World Congress, in Barcelona, on Ericsson's stand.
Orange, Ericsson and Qualcomm to drive innovation on mobile network efficiency
This initiative was achieved in the context of the recent decision from the CEPT (European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administration) to harmonize use of the L-band (1452-1492 MHz), reserving it specifically for supplemental downlink technology.
The trial system, which uses L-band frequencies for testing, was authorized by the French telecoms regulator, Arcep, in June 2012. The system combines L-band frequencies in the downlink mode with traditional 2.1 GHz frequencies owned by Orange to boost downlink capacity. The trial network uses radio base stations supplied by Ericsson and devices equipped with Qualcomm chipsets.
The live demonstration held today in Toulouse has clearly demonstrated the relevance of this technology for increasing download speed and improving user experience.
The performance and benefits obtained at this live demonstration will be presented at the Mobile World Congress:
-- on February 26 at 12:30
-- at the Ericsson Experience stand, Hall 2
Supplemental downlink, a promising technology for optimizing data traffic on tomorrow's networks
Supplemental downlink is a new technology that can be used to increase downlink capacity on both 3G and LTE networks. The technology represents a significant step forward in traditional spectrum aggregation systems that are already used for HSPA+ and LTE networks by the 3GPP standardization group. Supplemental downlink is a technological breakthrough as it provides a significantly enhanced technique for using radio spectrum for wireless networks. Supplemental downlink technology can now be used in the L-Band and could also be considered in other frequency bands.
This new technology will allow network operators to manage the ever-increasing demand for data service on wireless networks and provide improved performance for end users.
"After two years of extensive studies, CEPT ECC decided to harmonise the L-band for Supplemental Downlink. I am happy to see the industry materializing rapidly this decision which will generate substantial benefits to European users," said Eric Fournier, chairman of the Electronic Communications Committee.

AppDynamics Launches APMaaS in a Box to Make Deployment of Application Performance Management Fast and Easy for MSPs and Private Cloud Providers
SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- AppDynamics, the leading application performance management solution for modern application architectures, announced today the availability of APMaaS in a Box (Application Performance Management as a Service) for organizations with wide-ranging needs - for example, enterprises that need to manage internal apps in a shared private cloud environment, or managed service providers (MSPs) that need a simple way to add APM to their service catalogs and increase revenue.
With APMaaS in a Box, enterprises are guaranteed end user experience monitoring, application component discovery, transaction mapping and tracking, deep application diagnostics, and analytics - all working together to identify the root cause of application performance and stability issues. AppDynamics was built from the ground up to support multi-tenancy, ensuring that end users' expectations for performance and availability are easily met. In addition, AppDynamics offers superior scalability in terms of supporting up to 10,000 servers on a single management server--which is critical for MSPs who want to scale APM but don't want to manage and maintain a farm of servers.
Whether they need on-premise or SaaS implementations, MSPs and other organizations can use APMaaS in a Box to easily and quickly deploy APM - and for MSPs, to differentiate their services in a crowded market by offering APMaaS to their customers. In addition, APMaaS makes it easy for enterprises to migrate from on-premise to SaaS as needed.
"Using application performance management as a service, we've increased our customer base and have received immensely positive feedback from existing customers," said Oscar Garcia, COO of NTT Europe. Mobeam Launches Music Video at Mobile World Congress to Showcase How Its Technology Will Revolutionize the Way We Shop
Warning: Dancing may ensue, mobile coupons will be redeemed and the marketplace will be changed forever
Mobeam music video produced by Portal A, San Francisco's hottest creative team; Video release is first of a series of major announcements mobeam expects to make in 2013
SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobeam®(http://www.mobeam.com) today launched an innovative new music video to showcase what will happen when the more than 165 million Point of Sale (POS) laser scanners in use today are capable of scanning barcoded content on a smartphone using mobeam's technology. While many companies tout their products as the solution in mobile commerce, no company has been able to crack the code of scanning a barcode at checkout - until now. Mobeam has patented technology that will revolutionize the way we all shop by enabling smartphones to be scanned by POS scanners, unlocking new potential for marketers and providing consumers the ability to seamlessly redeem coupons, gift cards and loyalty cards from their smartphone.
The music video was produced by Portal A (http://portal-a.com/), San Francisco's hottest creative team and experts in web video. The video, "MOBEAM! The Supermarket Musical" will be officially released at a red carpet premiere to the media and attendees at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona on Sunday.
"There's a new phone app scheme that makes shopping a dream - Coming Soon to Screens Everywhere." - MOBEAM! The Supermarket Musical
Currently, anything that uses a barcode, such as a coupon, loyalty card, gift card, pre-loaded payment card or event ticket still needs to be printed out or carried to be redeemed, the vast majority of the time. Mobeam's technology converts barcodes into a beam of light that can be read by every one of the estimated 165 million laser scanners in use today by retailers around the world. It uses common light sources on a smartphone to send pulses of light directly to the sensor in POS scanners, mimicking the black-and-white sequencing of a standard bar code. Instead of reading the reflection from a printed barcode, laser scanners receive identical information from pulses of light - meaning that existing POS scanner technology and databases that are already installed worldwide won't require any upgrades.
"We created this fun, Glee-styled music video to highlight the life-altering changes our technology will provide when the world's smartphones are finally able to work at the point of sale with the 165 million laser scanners in use today," said Chris Sellers, CEO of mobeam. "Right now, many people think they can go to the grocery store, show a coupon on their phone and have it scanned - which unfortunately is not the case. The vast majority of in-store laser scanners cannot scan barcodes displayed on mobile phone screens. Through this video, we are saying, there IS a way, we've developed it and it's called mobeam."
More than 500 million people around the world are expected to receive mobile coupons this year, a 30% increase from 2012. Additionally, Juniper Research found that for 2013, the number of coupons accessed and redeemed by mobile is forecasted to come in around 10 billion discounts in total, representing a more than 50 percent increase from last year.
"This is definitely the most ambitious video we have done and we are honored that mobeam has chosen to launch it internationally at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona," said Zach Blume, managing director and co-founder of Portal A. "We love working with the most innovative companies around and we think mobeam's technology is going to be a game-changer that revolutionizes the mobile industry, ignites mobile commerce and changes the way we think about our wallet."
In the past year, mobeam has partnered with Procter & Gamble (P&G), Coca-Cola and General Mills - three of the world's largest consumer packaged goods companies, in a joint effort to create the first-ever completely mobile couponing system. This initiative, along with other partnerships mobeam has established with companies like ProLogic, brings consumers one-step closer to phasing out paper coupons entirely.
"We are excited about the potential for this new technology and our partnership with mobeam to make shopping simpler and faster for consumers. Couponing is a great way for shoppers to try new products or save on the trusted brands their families have come to love. If that can be easier, faster and less costly for shoppers and retailers, we want to help bring it to life," said Jeff Weedman, vice president of P&G Global Business Development.
Mobeam will be demonstrating their technology all week at MWC. While the technology has not been released on a handset yet, Mobeam is currently in confidential negotiations with several prominent manufacturers to bring mobeam to mobile devices around the world.
The music video was released in conjunction with a social media campaign and contest on Facebook and Twitter that gives a free mobeam t-shirt to the first 1,000 people that share the video on Facebook. To participate in the contest, visit http://www.mobeam.com/contest.
