With an initial focus on expanding the innovative use of HHS' health care data, the Innovator in Residence Fellow will act as a bridge to the entrepreneurial community to further the development of new health care-related applications and services that access massive datasets HHS is now making available.
Over the last year, HHS has been actively opening up its considerable data resources to the public via its Open Government Plan's Health Data Initiative and health.data.gov web site so that innovators across the country can use machine-readable data as fuel to help power novel applications (apps) and services that are already helping millions of Americans.

Global IPv6 Launch: intec Provides Update for ARGUS Testers Right on Time

IPv6 services. A free update enables ARGUS users to prepare their test devices for this
new Internet protocol.
intec is providing an IPv6 compatibility upgrade for its successful xDSL combi testers
ARGUS 165, ARGUS 145 plus and ARGUS 142, as well as for its xDSL tester ARGUS 141, right
on time for "World IPv6 Launch Day".
Every customer will have access to a free update from June 6, 2012, which supports
various IP tests, such as IP ping and traceroute, via ADSL, VDSL, SHDSL and Ethernet
broadband interfaces using either the IPv4 or IPv6 protocol. The Dual-stack mode is also
supported with this update. This means that, depending on availability, connections using
both protocols can be established, and IP testing can be carried out via one or both of

At the heart of the Cyber-shot RX100 is the world's first 1.0-inch type Exmor® CMOS sensor with a resolution of 20.2 effective megapixels. Specially developed by Sony, the sensor has an area that's approximately four times larger than the 1/2.3-type sensors in traditional point-and-shoot cameras. The sensor's larger area takes in more light while capturing content, resulting in beautiful, detail-packed images and Full HD movie clips with very low noise.
The larger sensor is partnered with an exceptionally bright Carl Zeiss® Vario-Sonnar T* fixed lens with 3.6x optical zoom range. In contrast to standard point-and-shoot cameras, it has a wide F1.8 maximum aperture to let in additional light and complement the resolving power of the larger sensor.
Similar to high-performance DSLR optics, the lens features seven- bladed circular aperture. This makes it easy to produce images with subjects in sharp focus against a smoothly-blurred, beautifully defocused background. The lens also features an Advanced Aspherical (AA) lens element that contributes to the camera's extremely compact dimensions without sacrificing optical zoom performance or resolution.
Newly optimized to complement the 1.0-inch type sensor and lens, the camera's powerful BIONZ® image processor maximizes shooting response times while helping assure exceptionally clean, natural images. When considering how to celebrate its new product launch, GoPro asked its team of sponsored athletes for their idea of a dream video production that would involve them controlling all of the cameras on the shoot. World-renowned skateboarder Ryan Sheckler had the idea to skate an area of New York City that he'd always dreamt about, documenting his experience using the new Wi-Fi Remote to control 50 GoPro cameras positioned along his path.
The resulting short film, "New York City", documents a "day-in-the-life" skate from the top of the Manhattan Bridge through Chinatown, finishing at the entrance to the storied Lower East Side skate park - considered by many to be the mecca of street skating. Along the way Sheckler captures not only his inspired skating but also the sites, sounds and color that are NYC. As with all GoPro releases, the film was shot entirely on GoPro cameras.

The Wii U console launches this holiday season and introduces the Wii U GamePad, a controller with a 6.2-inch touch screen that redefines how people interact with their games, their entertainment and one another. In addition to the wide array of established brands shown during the Nintendo All-Access Presentation @ E3 2012, Nintendo also revealed new games like Nintendo Land, a Wii U game set in a virtual theme park with a dozen attractions inspired by fan-favorite Nintendo franchises such as The Legend of Zelda and Donkey Kong. Nintendo Land introduces the entirely new dynamic of asymmetric game play, where the images being displayed on the GamePad are entirely different than what is seen on the TV. Giving the player with the GamePad different information, viewpoints, advantages and objectives creates completely new cooperative and competitive opportunities and enables novice and advanced players to enjoy games together and not be forced to play above or below their skill level.

Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of a number of original and popular Nintendo franchises, joined the Nintendo All-Access Presentation @ E3 2012 to introduce Pikmin 3, the first original entry in the Pikmin franchise in nearly eight years. The game includes new challenges, new characters and mysterious new Pikmin types. The Wii U GamePad creates new player experiences for the real-time strategy franchise by reinventing the control scheme and challenging players in exciting new ways. Pikmin 3 also takes advantage of the HD capabilities of Wii U to more elaborately depict the rich nature landscapes, various creatures and the lovable Pikmin.
SiNG (working title) is a new interactive musical performance game for Wii U that gets everyone at the party involved in the music. Nintendo also revealed details about Miiverse, a new network communication system that lets gamers from around the world share experiences, discuss games and discover new content. Using their personalized Mii characters, players enter Miiverse and see games, applications or entertainment content that either they have interacted with recently, expressed interest in learning more about or that their friends are using or discussing. From here they can challenge their friends to play together, ask a question about a difficult level or discover new elements of their favorite games they never knew existed. After a notable achievement or other share-worthy moment, players can pause their game or application and seamlessly post messages to the Miiverse community. The Card gives people access to state-provided healthcare in case of illness or an
accident during travel and temporary stays in 31 European countries. The Card is available
- free of charge - from national health insurance providers. It guarantees access to
urgent treatment under the same conditions and at the same cost (free in some countries)
as people insured in that country.
Differences among healthcare systems may make it difficult to figure out how to use
the Card in various countries and what the local rules are. This handy guide on how to use
the Card in the 27 EU countries, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway and Switzerland is now
available as an application for smartphones on three platforms: iOS, Android and Windows 7
mobile. It includes general information about the card, emergency phone numbers,
treatments that are covered and costs, how to claim reimbursement and who to contact in
case you have lost your card. The app is available in 24 languages, with the option to
switch from one language to another.
