IGN kicks off second year of successful Code-Foo Program
SAN FRANCISCO, March 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- IGN Entertainment, the world's leading video games media company, has kicked off the Code-Foo Challenge - a 'no resumes allowed' recruitment program aimed at finding extraordinary coding talent, regardless of educational background, college degree or experience.
Back for its second year, the six-week program gives aspiring coders with a passion for gaming - and IGN - the opportunity to get paid to learn cutting-edge coding languages and work on real engineering projects while being trained by leaders in the industry. Candidates that impress may score a full-time job at IGN. Out of the 75,000 people who reviewed the 2011 application for Code-Foo, IGN selected 30 to participate in the program - and hired eight.

With Code-Foo, IGN removes traditional barriers to entry - like a lack of degree or a "jagged resume" - a term used by The Rare Find author George Anders. The application deadline for Code-Foo 2012 is April 30, 2012, and IGN will notify applicants by May 18th if they've made the cut.
In Code-Foo's first year, of the 75,000 people who viewed the application page, 104 people completed it and 30 participants were accepted. Participants, ages 20-30, came from all over the country (Pa., Utah, Iowa, Kan., Md., N.J., Ind., Mich., Ohio, Ore., Colo., Ill. and Ariz.), including many places with limited employment opportunities for technical talent, and only half the group, had college degrees.

Drop-out rates are a serious issue in the United States. According to a report recently issued by Civic Enterprises, the Everyone Graduates Center, America's Promise Alliance and the Alliance for Excellent Education, one in four students in the U.S. - more than 1 million each year - drops out. Education experts believe that the lack of a high school degree significantly worsens job prospects, particularly in the challenging science, technology and math sectors. On average, a high school dropout earns 25 percent less during the course of his or her lifetime compared with a high school graduate and 57 percent less than a college graduate with a bachelor's degree.[1]
Although the problem is serious, there are signs of progress according to the recent report issued today:

Lost Assisted Living Community Resident Quickly Rescued Thanks to EmFinders® EmSeeQ® Device
Deputies Locate and Safely Recover Alzheimer's Patient in 11 Minutes with Wireless Device
SACRAMENTO, Calif., March 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Patients with dementia are often prone to wandering, and unless they are found and returned home quickly, they can be at great risk of serious injury or death. Joe Johnson, Administrator at Sky Park Gardens Assisted Living near Sacramento, recently took an extra step to keep medically impaired residents of his community safe: He began using EmSeeQ® wearable locator devices made by EmFinders®. That step paid off on March 15, 2012, when a 62-year-old male resident who suffers from Alzheimer's wandered away from the community. Since he was equipped with an EmSeeQ wearable locator device, deputies were able to locate him within 11 minutes and safely return him to the community.

The wristwatch-style EmSeeQ device uses patented E911 technology to transmit the wearer's location. When a wearer is reported missing, department personnel remotely activate the device to dial 9-1-1 and report the location to emergency responders using cellular triangulation. Endomondo Android App Adds Interval Training and Multi-Platform Sync
