CEO Traffix Ben Volkow Offers Advice to Telecommunications Providers Moving to LTE
Lessons in Avoiding Pain Points in LTE by Using the Right Diameter Signaling Solutions
FREEHOLD, New Jersey, January 9, 2012/PRNewswire/ --
As 2012 opens and telecommunications providers around the world are rolling out 4G
networks with LTE technology, CEO of Traffix Systems [http://www.traffixsystems.com ] Ben
Volkow offered words of advice during a local professional forum on how operators can
handle the signaling bombardment that LTE networks encounter due to massive mobile data
use. With smartphones and other connected devices increasingly popular, combined with
always-on mobile applications, operators are facing unprecedented signaling surges that in
the absence of network-wide management strategies will ultimately affect network
performance.
"If once there were less than a handful of signaling usage scenarios focused on voice
services, now in data-dominated 4G there are hundreds of new services and signaling usage
patterns, and dozens of first-time use cases such as policy control and enforcement,
roaming, legacy to 4G interworking functions, and many more," said Ben Volkow, CEO of
Traffix, in a forum of telecom professionals.
Jim Hodges, Senior Analyst at Heavy Reading, noted, "Network signaling has become a
major consideration in LTE deployment, both from a network scalability perspective and
optimizing customer user experience. As a result, network operators are increasingly
focused on how they can leverage innovative Diameter based signaling solutions to meet
these challenges."
"For maximum resiliency and continual network reliability, operators should be looking
to deploy Diameter routing and load balancing solutions that offer failover management and
overload control strategies. With voice over LTE and machine-to-machine on the horizon,
the frequency of signaling will skyrocket. You can't manage a network with that level of
signaling bombardment on a point-to-point basis," explained Volkow.
The Traffix Signaling Delivery Controller(TM) (SDC)
[http://www.traffixsystems.com/sdc.html ] platform was purpose-built from the ground up in
Diameter protocol to assist 4G operators in confronting the massive growth in Diameter
with context-aware routing, load balancing and other network maintenance and management
mechanisms to enable constantly high-quality service in newly rolled-out 4G networks
without disruptions or glitches.
With the Traffix SDC [http://www.traffixsystems.com/sdc.html ] Diameter Gateway,
Diameter Load Balancer and Diameter Router solutions consolidated on one platform,
carriers are guaranteed cost-effective seamless connectivity, unlimited scalability and
simplified maximum control to support subscribers' heavy and growing use of mobile
broadband data. When located throughout the core and edge of the network, Traffix SDC
platform prevents situations such as server overload and service failure for telecom
providers of all sizes to offer the optimal customer experience enhanced by LTE services.
About Traffix Systems
Traffix is the 4G & Diameter expert, leading the market with a range of Diameter
products [http://www.traffixsystems.com/sdc.html ] deployed at over 100 locations
worldwide. Powered by the largest workforce dedicated only to Diameter signaling
solutions, Traffix supports service providers as they build high-capacity,
high-performance 4G networks. The Traffix Signaling Delivery Controller(TM) (SDC) platform
enables full connectivity, unlimited scalability, and comprehensive control for operators
to upgrade their control plane for the demands of a data-dominated world. For more

Consumer Reports: Five Trends to Watch for at CES 2012
Expect Thinner and Lighter Devices; More Cloud Content, Higher High-res Images
YONKERS, N.Y., Jan. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Consumer Reports today announced its list of trends to watch for at The 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show, which gets underway this week in Las Vegas. The full article can be found at http://www.ConsumerReports.org.
CES offers an annual preview of the technologies that could come to consumers' homes, cars, or pockets in the near future. Key trends that Consumer Reports will be following across the show's many categories and products include:
-- Thinner yet stronger. In just about every category, hardware will be
getting thinner--and likely lighter, with a bigger screen and beefier
processor. The prime example: more examples of so-called ultrabooks,
11- to 14-inches thin and light laptops
-- More cloud connections. As in a greater multiplicity of options to
store--or pull down-- content or applications stored on remote servers
to mobile devices, including cars.
-- More computing power in just about everything. In phones, that will mean
the first models with quad-core processors, but also expect more and
faster processors in appliances, cars, and even toys.
-- More voice activation. More phones are likely to ramp up their voice
activation, and also expect to see TVs that allow users to simply say
the show they want to watch and more apps to let consumers use smart
phones or tablets to control their TV, home, or car.
-- Less 3D, more enhancements to 2D. Three-dimensional imaging was
arguably the technology of the 2011 CES. It will still be ubiquitous
this year, including more demos of 3D TVs that don't require those geeky
glasses. But the buzz will probably be more about new ways to deliver
better 2D images, including 4K super-high resolution TV sets.
"This year's CES promises to introduce products and services that allow easier access to content as well as some notable enhancements to make that content better, notably in in visual quality," said Paul Reynolds, Consumer Reports' Electronics Editor.
In addition to ultrabooks, he added, the hot categories at the show promise to include tablet computers, smart phones, and automotive electronics.

Lantiq Announces Industry First VDSL2 Vectoring Chip Enabling Full System-Level Crosstalk Noise Cancellation
Vectoring with full system-level crosstalk noise cancellation more than doubles data rates and reach for next generation networks based on VDSL2
MUNICH and NEUBIBERG, Germany, Jan. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --Lantiq, a leading supplier of broadband access and home networking technologies, today announced first customer shipments of its VINAX(TM) IVE1000 System-Level Vectoring Engine chip. Noise cancellation technologies - standardized in G.vector - eliminate crosstalk, but only system-level vectoring solutions, like the new Lantiq vectoring engine device, more than double data rates and reach to meet operators' next generation needs. Lantiq's new VINAX IVE1000 demonstrates a breakthrough in full system-level vectoring capability, scalability and expandability up to 384 ports, considered to be ideal for delivery of triple-play broadband services, including multiple streams of HD-quality TV, Internet and voice.
-- Major milestone towards broad deployment of vectoring in the field, the
VINAX IVE1000 is the first highly integrated ASSP solution suitable for
volume deployment of system-level vectoring solutions supporting up to
384 VDSL2 lines.
-- Supports full cancellation and partial cancellation for the most
cost-effective, future-proof broadband infrastructure deployment.
-- Used in Central Office (CO) or neighborhood/in-building cabinets, the
VINAX IVE1000 uses advanced signal processing techniques to cancel
Far-End Crosstalk (FEXT) between any of the VDSL2 lines in a copper
bundle. By eliminating crosstalk service providers are able to achieve
100 Mbps symmetrical and beyond.
-- Major reduction in system power consumption: Up to 20% power saving in a
fully-vectored system (compared to non-vectoring) as a result of optimal
balancing of transmission power.
Comments
-- Lee Ratliff, Principal Analyst, Broadband and Digital Home, IHS iSuppli
Corporation: "System-level VDSL2 vectoring is a critically important
tool for service providers looking to extend the performance of their
copper network. It provides high performance in a very cost effective
manner. Lantiq's VINAX IVE1000 System-Level Vectoring Engine ties
together multiple line cards - up to 384 VDSL2 lines - enabling an
entire binder to be vectored for the greatest benefit."
-- Martin Schenk, Senior Vice President & General Manager of Lantiq's
Access Networks Business Unit: "VDSL2 vectoring was defined by the ITU
to enable service providers to boost the bandwidth on their widely
deployed copper infrastructure to 100 Mbps and beyond. By delivering the
industry's first VDSL2 vectoring chip for system-level crosstalk noise
cancellation for up to 384 ports, Lantiq provides the most scalable and
best performing solution to allow service providers to capitalize on the
potential of their copper access networks."
Lantiq Vectoring Solution
-- With VINAX(TM) V3, carriers can install "vectoring ready" VDSL2 line
cards (which support ADSL2/2+ through VDSL2 30MHz standards) today,
requiring only a remote software upgrade when the VINAX IVE1000-based
central vectoring card is added at the CO or in a local cabinet.
-- Connected to a vectoring standard-compliant CPE device such as the
Lantiq XWAY(TM) VRX200, this combination allows the implementation of a
complete end-to-end vectoring solution. Lantiq's XWAY VRX200 CPE device
is "vectoring ready" today, as such only a simple software upgrade is
necessary for full vectoring functionality.
What is Vectoring?
-- Approved as an ITU Standard (G.vector or G.993.5) in March 2010,
vectoring is a Dynamic Spectrum Management Level 3 technique (DSM Level
3) that coordinates signal strength across multiple lines by real time
crosstalk mitigation. The benefits of crosstalk cancelation are largest
when all lines in a binder are managed (i.e., at the system level).
-- The Lantiq VINAX(TM) Vectoring System is compliant with and is capable
of supporting all features defined in ITU G.993.2 (VDSL2), G.993.5
(G.vector) and ITU G.997 (G.ploam). The solution applies to all VDSL2
profiles and supports up to 384 VDSL2 ports by cascading multiple VINAX
IVE1000 devices. This high level of scalability, coupled with the
compelling features offered by the VINAX V3 chipset, results in a
solution that is ideally suited to a wide range of applications such as
MDU, MSAN and DSLAM.

Exclusive Networks Group Acquires TLK to Extend Reach Into Germany
MUNICH, January 9, 2012/PRNewswire/ --
?
Value-Adding Distributor Adds 'Final Piece of Jigsaw' to Single
Touch/Pan-European Strategy
TLK Distributions GmbH, the highly successful value-added distributor of security and
networking solutions for the German enterprise market, has been acquired by Exclusive
Networks Group for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition is a key milestone in a long-term
strategy by Exclusive Networks Group to create the first ever major, pan-European Value
Adding Distribution business with the skills, relationships and commitment to high-margin,
disruptive technologies typically found only among nationally focussed specialist
distributors. Operated as a single-touch, tightly integrated group of independently-led,
entrepreneurially-spirited business units, Exclusive Networks Group now spans over 14
countries in Europe, including Germany, France, UK, Italy, Spain, Benelux and each of the
Nordic countries.
The acquisition sees TLK's senior management team assume responsibility for
Exclusive's German business operations*, with key principals Martin Twickler and Alexander
Sprau taking up the posts of joint CEOs. The Exclusive Networks Group's new German
subsidiary will continue to trade under the name 'TLK' until further notice.
"TLK has long been regarded as a well-managed and hugely respected business both
inside Germany and among the global vendor community. This acquisition is key for us as we
execute on our vision to be the 'market accelerator' for disruptive and innovative
networking, IT security and infrastructure technology companies launching and growing in
the pan-European marketplace," commented Olivier Breittmayer, CEO of Exclusive Networks
Group. "We already share the same world-view, and the same consistent value add-approach;
focussing upon solutions which provide the market with real value and real opportunity.
TLK also has that same great experience and heritage in continuously evaluating innovative
vendors and technologies, and working hand-in-hand with reseller partners in order to
create solutions for their customers."
"Our two companies are on the same wavelength," states TLK's Martin Twickler. "As we
go forward together, neither of us needs to waste any energy to fit into a different
environment. The Exclusive Networks Group emphasises the independence of its country
subsidiaries. It is Exclusive's belief - and ours - that the specific strengths and
experience built up in local markets is a very strong asset, and that was an important
point for us. The quality of our people and our relationships is what has made us so
successful, and it is gratifying to know that Exclusive Networks values and understands
this just as much as we do.
For TLK's existing customers, they will have the same contact person as before;
deliveries will come from a German warehouse and the structures for local support, RMA,
training and service will also remain the same. Opportunities will increase however, as we
leverage the added strength, reach and expertise of the Exclusive Networks Group. For
vendors, the change means easier access to Europe-wide contracts and strong distribution
partners in all the major European markets. At present, the vendor portfolios of the two
organisations are almost entirely complementary, with virtually no overlaps."
The addition of TLK to the Exclusive Networks Group is expected to boost its annual
revenues across Europe to around EUR270m, employing 280 people, with tremendous potential
for further growth both nationally and internationally. The TLK acquisition comes six
months after Exclusive Networks Group's successful acquisition of VADition, the leading UK

Ben Heck transforms Apple iPhone into the Ultimate Hand-Held Gaming Device in element14's "The Ben Heck Show"
Modding guru pays homage to consumer electronics as 2012 CES tradeshow kicks off
CHICAGO, Jan. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --element14, the first collaborative community and electronics store for design engineers and electronics enthusiasts, and modding guru Ben Heck pay homage to the 2012 CES International tradeshow in the latest episode of the "The Ben Heck Show." This week's modding project features an Apple iPhone®( )that Ben morphs into an enhanced hand-held gaming tool - sure to impress even Android fans.
"CES starts today, and I couldn't think of a more fitting project than one that combines my love for video games with a device that many consumers are extremely passionate about," said Ben. "Sure, the iPhone is a great device for game play already, but I wanted to take it to the next level for the ultimate mobile gaming enthusiast."
To successfully implement video gaming capabilities onto the smaller-footed iPhone, Ben first deconstructs an iCade®system that enables gaming on an Apple iPad® to integrate a scaled-down version of the circuitry. Then, by connecting a PodBreakout board to a simulated battery, Ben borrows voltage from the iPad to enable the Bluetooth required to power the iPhone for mobile gaming purposes.
"This latest episode is a must-see for gamers, tech gurus and electronics enthusiasts alike," said Kevin Yapp, chief marketing officer, Premier Farnell. "Ben shows viewers how a comprehensive suite of resources available on element14, coupled with a DIY spirit and technological know-how can create spectacularly innovative results - in this case an enhanced version of the popular iPhone."
Ben wraps up the episode by showing viewers how to build the case and required controller components - from designing and routing the shell and laser button pads using an Epilog Laser Engraver to creating and printing buttons. The final result is a tricked-out innovative hand-held Apple iPhone gaming device. Show fans are invited to join the element14 community to send Ben a challenge for a future build, engage with community members, and enter for a chance to win the build from this episode.
In conjunction with CES, Ben will demonstrate his latest mod in a live streaming interview with the host of GT.TV, Geoff Keighley on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 2:15 p.m. PST. Directly following the interview, Ben will go up against "Men's Health" contributor Matt Bean in a live debate on the benefits of robotics. Check out the live stream at allaccess.spike.com or Gametrailers.com

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- ESCORT Inc. (ESCORTinc.com), designer and manufacturer of the world's best premium automotive accessories, announced two new products that will debut at the 2012 International CES alongside its multi-award winning all-new ESCORT Live(TM) real-time ticket protection network - ESCORT's first ever mobile fleet office solution, ESCORT SmartOffice(TM), and ESCORT MobileTV(TM), a connected Mobile Digital TV receiver.
In addition to the CES debut, ESCORT invites CES press attendees to see ESCORT President and CEO, John Larson, present ESCORT Live(TM) and the new ESCORT SmartOffice(TM) mobile rugged PC and ESCORT's MobileTV(TM) solution at ESCORT's official CES Press Conference 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, room S227, at the LVCC press and media center.
ESCORT is also inviting CES media and press attendees to see personal demonstrations of the three new products at this week's major CES press events:
-- CES Unveiled, the official press event of the International CES, Sunday,
January 8, 4:00p.m. - 7:00p.m., The Venetian, Venetian Ballroom D
-- Pepcom's Digital Experience, Monday, January 9, 7:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.,
MGM Hotel
-- Showstoppers @ CES 2012, Tuesday, January 10, 2012, 6:00p.m. - 10:00
p.m., Wynn Hotel, Lafite Ballroom.
"It's widely known that ESCORT provides the most advanced radar and laser defense on the market," said ESCORT President and CEO John Larson. "We've raised that bar with ESCORT Live(TM) and continue to redefine 'driving smarter' with new technologies like Smart Office(TM) and Mobile TV(TM)."
ESCORT SmartOffice(TM) rugged, mobile PC consolidates complete office functionality into a single, lightweight, connected mobile device. Based on familiar Microsoft Windows 7 PS and complete PC functionality, SmartOffice(TM) includes navigation, point-of-sale credit card processing, fleet vehicle management, remote inventory/CRM management, barcode/RFID reader, reverse camera option and fleet transportation/logistics monitoring. SmartOffice(TM) gives drivers and service providers all of their office tools fast, with accurate business solutions, delivered right where they need them - in the field, in real time.
ESCORT's other new CES announcement is MobileTV(TM), a connected Mobile Digital TV (MDTV) receiver that quickly and easily allows consumers to receive digital TV on their WIFI-enabled smartphone, iPad or similar video-capable device while in moving vehicles. One major benefit of ESCORT MobileTV(TM) is that it does not use the device's data link for connectivity but instead receives MDTV through WIFI - this helps reduce overall usage of the consumer's data plan. Viewers won't miss anything while traveling with others as they choose from news, weather, sports, traffic, entertainment and more in over 46 major metro markets (and expanding).
ESCORT will also be demonstrating its highly successful multi-award winning new ESCORT Live(TM) ticket protection network. In addition to already receiving four major industry awards, ESCORT Live(TM) has also been named as a CES 2012 Innovations Design and Engineering Award winner. ESCORT Live(TM) uses Bluetooth technology embedded in SmartCord Live(TM) cords and a unique app for the driver's smartphone. When alerts are detected, they are transmitted to the ESCORT Live(TM) "cloud" and then broadcast across the ESCORT Live(TM) network, notifying drivers of potential ticket threats. In addition to network alerts, the new smartphone app technology provides ESCORT's industry-leading Defender® database of red light and speed-ticketing camera locations and speed traps as well as ESCORT's patented GPS features including posted speed limit information, over-speed limit alerts, live traffic for route optimization and more.
Unique to the category is the ESCORT Live(TM) community's real-time national reach and scale. Currently there are more than 1 million ESCORT and BELTRONICS ESCORT Live(TM) compatible radar detectors in use throughout North America. Multiply this data gathering and sharing process by millions of miles and millions of driving hours and the result is a nation of protected ESCORT Live(TM) drivers. "Following an ESCORT Live(TM) driver yields excellent information about what lies ahead because the first vehicle's alerts are seamlessly transmitted to other cars equipped with the ESCORT Live(TM) app," Larson said.
ESCORT's complete line of premium automotive accessories including ESCORT Live(TM), ESCORT SmartOffice(TM) mobile rugged PC and ESCORT's MobileTV(TM) solution, will be on display at the ESCORT show booth (North Hall, booth #1509) at the CES show which runs from today through Friday at the Las Vegas Convention Center here. MediaTek Introduces New Wi-Fi SoC: Brings Gigabit Wireless to High Quality Home Content Distribution, Synchronization, and Display Applications
First product since merger with Ralink Technology promises to revolutionize market with high-performance, flexible, affordable Gigabit Wi-Fi system-on-a-chip solution
TAIPEI, Taiwan, Jan. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- MediaTek Inc., a leading fabless semiconductor company for wireless communications and digital multimedia solutions, today announced its latest innovation for 802.11ac Wi-Fi AP/routers -- the RT6856 Wi-Fi system-on-a-chip (SoC), which is also its first product since its merger with Ralink Technology. Designed specifically to address the needs of high quality home content distribution, synchronization and display, the RT6856 represents the industry's first solution to enable Gigabit wireless on a dual-band concurrent Wi-Fi AP/router, or a CPU-offloading intelligent NIC (iNIC) solution for connected consumer electronics products. The RT6856 gives added depth and breadth to MediaTek's wireless connectivity product line, allowing it to better compete for cross-platform deals with networking/consumer electronic chip manufacturers worldwide.
The RT6856 Wi-Fi SoC contains a powerful 700 MHz MIPS® 34KEc(TM) CPU core and two PCI Express interfaces to enable interoperability with 802.11ac Wi-Fi chips for true Gigabit wireless "dual band concurrent" home networks for high quality data, voice and video applications. It allows users to simultaneously create two wireless networks, both running at full bandwidth speeds, offering a significant increase in total network capacity. The RT6856 also features a rich array of connectivity options including an RGMII interface that can be used with a Gigabit Ethernet switch, cable, or xDSL modem; two USB 2.0 interfaces for 3G/WiMAX/LTE connectivities, printing, consumer electronics, or wireless storage applications; and SPI, I2C, I2S, and PCM interfaces for audio and VoIP applications. Plus, the new SoC also includes the company's field proven hardware support for Network Address Translation (NAT) and other frame aggregation techniques that make its LAN to WAN routing performance five times faster than conventional software-based products. Moreover, the RT6856 comes with a CPU-offloading intelligent NIC (iNIC) solution that allows manufacturers to easily incorporate wireless connectivity into products that previously lacked Wi-Fi capability, without the necessity of host processor upgrades.
The RT6856 system-on-a-chip solution works perfectly with all MediaTek PCIe Wi-Fi chips, including the upcoming 802.11ac line. Hardware and software design kits and customer samples for both AP/routers and intelligent NIC solutions are now available. Key product features include:
-- Built-in best-in-class hardware network address translation (NAT)
acceleration engine and RGMII interface for Gigabit Ethernet connection
enables the RT6856's WAN to LAN throughput to run up to five times
faster than conventional software-based NAT routers.
-- Embedded IPSec security engine brings low cost, yet high performance VPN
function to residential gateway products; also makes the RT6856 ideal
for SMB-class networking applications.
"Since the merger with Ralink, MediaTek has been proactively integrating technical advantages from both parties' respective fields such as wireless communications, digital consumer and networking marketplaces. This not only brings synergy to our solutions for connected devices throughout digital homes, but also enables MediaTek to expand its presence in networking industries and enrich its product portfolio," said Mr. C.J. Hsieh, President of MediaTek. "The proliferation of high quality video, digital content, and Blu-Ray DVDs in homes is driving demand for greater Wi-Fi performance and coverage beyond existing single RF 802.11n devices. This will lead to the rapid adoption of dual-band concurrent Wi-Fi as the next key technology in both consumer and enterprise applications." Mr. Hsieh also went on to say, "MediaTek is strongly positioned to deliver new products that offer high value and are capable of meeting the evolving needs of our customers in the home networking market. With the RT6856, we not only offer our OEM customers a new paradigm for affordable yet high performance dual-band concurrent Wi-Fi technology, but also provide them with a scalable platform that can be leveraged to develop new revenue streams in the home networking arena."

Samsung Brings the Connected Experience to Ordinary HDTVs
The new Wi-Fi inTouch camera system offers HD Skype(TM) video and pre-loaded apps
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Samsung Techwin America, a leader in consumer video monitoring and security products, today unveiled its inTouch camera system at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Boasting Wi-Fi technology, 720p high-definition video and a range of pre-loaded apps and functionalities, including Skype(TM), YouTube and full Web browsing, the Samsung inTouch brings the internet connected experience straight to the living rooms of consumers with ordinary HDTVs.
"While internet connected HDTVs are now common, not every household gets to experience this fun and interactive feature, especially if they have an HDTV purchased just a few years ago," said Mike Palazzolo, Vice President Sales and Marketing, consumer video monitoring and security products, Samsung Techwin America. "With the inTouch camera system, Samsung is now bridging the gap between this experience and those consumers who own HDTVs without networking capability."
Simplicity and Elegance
Samsung is known and revered throughout the world for the industry-leading design of its consumer electronics devices, and its new inTouch camera system is no exception. The inTouch camera system offers an elegant and compact form factor that allows it to seamlessly blend in with the design of any home entertainment system or living room.
The inTouch camera can be securely placed on top of an HDTV, shelf or table, and thanks to a tilt range of -30 degrees ~ 0 degrees, users can easily adjust the camera so that everyone can be in the shot. The Samsung inTouch offers an effortless connection to a wireless network, and hooking up the camera to an HDTV requires just one HDMI cable.
Connect With Family and Friends
Plugged into Skype and with an embedded mic and speakers, Samsung's inTouch camera system gives consumers the ability to connect with family and friends around the world in high-definition, right from the comfort of their own living rooms. Whether it is grandparents calling to check in on the kids from across the country, parents reading their children a story while away on a business trip, or a simple chat with a longtime friend, the possibilities are endless.
In addition to Skype, the Samsung inTouch camera system is also pre-loaded with a range of apps which instantly give any ordinary HDTV an internet connected makeover. Apps such as YouTube and Google News and Weather bring important information and entertainment right to the screen, and a Web browser allows consumers to fully access and enjoy all that the Internet has to offer. Navigation is also made easy with the inclusion of a palm-sized QWERTY keyboard which puts everything the consumer needs right at their fingertips and makes checking email or instant messaging with friends a breeze.
Capture and Share Memories
The Samsung inTouch camera also offers an easy-to-use photos app that essentially transforms an HDTV into a high-definition picture frame. Consumers can snap still images at three megapixel resolution, or insert their own using the integrated USB port, which can be reviewed in a gallery or enjoyed in a slideshow. Images can also be shared with friends and family by uploading directly from the inTouch to many of today's popular social networking sites.
The Samsung inTouch will be available March 2012 and will retail for $199.99.

Samsung's Wi-Fi IP SmartCam(TM) offers real-time video and audio monitoring from any Internet-connected smartphone or computer
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Samsung Techwin America, a leader in consumer video monitoring and security products, today made home security even more accessible with the introduction of its Wi-Fi IP SmartCam(TM). With the ability to wirelessly connect to a home network, the camera gives homeowners the ability to place the device in any room and monitor activity remotely through their computer, smartphones or other mobile devices.
Boasting unmatched ease-of-use, the Samsung SmartCam simplifies the process of pairing up a wireless device to a home network. Requiring no manual configuration by the consumer, the Samsung SmartCam takes what was once a cumbersome and confusing setup and boils it down to just the push of a button. Users simply locate the WPS button on the device and their home router, and with a click of each, the two will automatically sync and the camera will be added to the network in less than 30 seconds.
"Up until now, home security and surveillance solutions have been intimidating, especially for the average homeowner," said Mike Palazzolo, Vice President Sales and Marketing, consumer video monitoring and security products, Samsung Techwin America. "With our new IP SmartCam, we've taken simplicity to a whole new level and are offering consumers a hassle-free way to remotely keep an eye on their home, from anywhere in the world, all without having to be tech-savvy."
Once connected to the home network, users simply create an account on SamsungSmartCam.com where they can then register their camera and view real-time footage from the device. No installation of software is required. Users can customize and label their cameras on their network with no limit to the amount that can be registered to an account. In addition, for those always on-the-go, free apps will be made available for Android and iOS platforms, allowing users to keep an eye on what's going on at home no matter where they may be.
Unlike traditional IP cameras which host video on a remote video server, the Samsung SmartCam leverages peer-to-peer technology for an enhanced experience. With peer?to?peer technology, Samsung makes a one-time verification - or handshake - between the SmartCam and the device that will be used to view the footage. Once that connection is made, the SmartCam is then able to stream directly to the consumer's computer or mobile device without having to go through a remote video server that could experience significant delays with increased use.
Sleek and slim, the Samsung SmartCam can be placed nearly anywhere and also comes with a swiveling bracket which will allow it to be mounted to a wall and adjusted to ensure the user gets the shot required. The camera offers high-resolution video recording (640x480 / 30fps / H.264) and can even record events in the dark through the use of non-visible infrared LEDs (up to 15 feet).
With an embedded mic and speakers, the Samsung SmartCam is also capable of two?way talk and can be configured to automatically record video (640x480 / 30fps / H.264) when motion or sound is detected. That footage will automatically be uploaded to a secure YouTube account and users will be notified of the event via real?time push notification. A highly valuable feature, this automatic notification technology brings safety to the forefront as it will allow homeowners to instantly respond to any unexpected events, such as a criminal break in, while offering secure footage that can be shared and reviewed.
The Samsung SmartCam will be available March 2012 and retail for $149.00.

Aurasma's cutting-edge image recognition technology and unique meaning-based approach
to computing allows smart devices to see, recognize and understand real-life images and
objects in much the same way as the human brain does. Aurasma then uses this fundamental
understanding of the real world to seamlessly augment the scene with virtual content such
as videos, animations and 3D objects called "auras". No barcodes, visual tags or special
glasses are required for Aurasma to work.
James Loxam, Chief Technology Officer at Aurasma, said: "Smartphones are doubling in
processing power every eight months. As their power increases, so does Aurasma's ability
to merge the physical and virtual worlds together. Our 3D engine already supports very
complex models and they will become even more interactive and realistic as our phones
increase in processing power. Very soon people will find it difficult to tell where the
physical world ends and the virtual one begins."
Martina King, Managing Director of Aurasma said, "Over two million people have already
downloaded our technology onto their smart devices and are using Aurasma to change the way
they see and interact with the world. Combined with Aurasma, our smart devices are now
powerful enough for us to begin to move from the Internet to the beginning of the
Outernet, where digital information is seamlessly embedded in the world around us and we
simply point our devices at the things we're interested in to find out more. It's a
revolution in the way we engage with information and Aurasma is leading the way."
Aurasma will be demonstrating 3D at CES Unveiled at the Venetian, Las Vegas on 8th
January and competing in the live final of CES Mobile Apps Showdown at the Wynn, Las Vegas
on 12th January.
Aurasma is the world's first visual browser - a new platform technology that merges
the physical world with the virtual. Available as a free app for iPhone3G, 4 and 4S, iPad2
and high-powered Android devices or as a free kernel for app developers, Aurasma uses
advanced image and pattern recognition to recognise and understand real-world images and
objects in much in way the human brain does. It then seamlessly blends the real-world with
rich interactive content such as videos and animations called "Auras". Auras can be
created for printed images, product packaging, clothing, physical places and users can
even use the app to create and share their own.
Since its launch in June 2011, Aurasma has had more than two million downloads. Over
1000 partners across multiple markets are using the free technology in their campaigns or
embedding the technology in their own applications, including Aurasma has over 1,000
commercial partners in more than 50 countries worldwide including global brands such as
Panasonic, Mazda, Virgin Atlantic, Sky, BMW, Procter & Gamble, NET-A-PORTER, BBC
Worldwide, Hyundai, Schroders and Universal Pictures. Aurasma was developed by software
company Autonomy - an HP Company.

Vuzix Announces Plans for SMART Glasses Technology - Holy Grail of Wearable Display Industry, See-Through HD Glasses in a Designer Sunglasses Form Factor - at CES 2012
See New Vuzix SMART Glasses Technology in action at CES - Central Hall Booth #13646
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Vuzix Corporation (TSX-V: VZX, OTC:BB: VUZI, FMB: V7X), award-winning manufacturer of video eyewear, is excited to unveil SMART Glasses Technology - Integrated HD display engines and waveguide optics that literally break the boundaries of conventional optics and display solutions. For decades wearable displays have been referred to as Head Mounted Displays because of their bulky size and odd appearance; primarily attributable to the displays and conventional refractive and or reflective optics that they employ. This older technology is limited by the laws of optical physics that result in form factors that are large, heavy, and practically impossible to make into fashion eyewear.
Now after years of internal developments and our recent licensing relationship with Nokia Corporation, SMART Glasses Technology is finally here. This amazing new technology starts with a compact display engine capable of hi contrast and brightness for outdoor use. The output is then relayed into a 1.4 mm thick polymer waveguide lens with input and output hologram structures on the surface which squeezes the light down the waveguide and then two dimensionally expands the image back into the user's eye, creating an image that is then mixed into the real world. And, all this technology neatly fits into the temples & lenses of a conventional pair of eyewear!
As the name implies, SMART Glasses are much more than just a wearable TV. Designed to work with SMART Devices that are typically connected to the internet, SMART Glasses are interactive and merge virtual information with the real world. They can be used at night or outdoors in full daylight.
Vuzix is planning a line of both monocular and binocular SMART Glasses for the Commercial, Industrial and Consumer markets. With integrated head tracking and options for multiple camera technologies Vuzix SMART Glasses can broaden the users' sensory perception across a greatly expanded light spectrum; additionally they can be used to recognize their environment along with their position in the real world, all-the-while recording and transmitting what the user sees.
From standalone solutions for night vision and first responder use to fully internet connected and geospatially aware devices for amazing Augmented Reality applications.
Look for Vuzix SMART Glasses technology initial release into the commercial and industrial markets by fall 2012.
Follow Vuzix on Twitter @Vuzix and facebook.com/Vuzix for the latest news on the SMART Glasses Technology and the company's entire line award winning video eyewear.

Use the dropdown menu to filter the list by country and state, and FindTheBest will display the ski resorts in the location you choose.
Once you've narrowed your decision down to ski resorts with high average snowfall in a particular location, the best ski resorts are the ones with the highest Smart Rating. If want to narrow your decision based on other factors, you can also filter the list by skiable acres and lift ticket price, or sort the list by vertical drop.
Select your list of ski resorts, then click the compare button for a side-by-side view. The ratings and information about each ski resort is clearly labeled and color-coded. When you've found your top ski resort, click on its name to view that ski resort's detail page. Everything you need to know about the ski resort is displayed, including links to current weather conditions, forecasts, and webcams.
But planning your winter vacation, or finding where the snow is this ski season, isn't finished until you've got the right equipment.
Be prepared with the best alpine skis and the best snowboards, before you head to the mountain: FindTheBest can help you make an informed decision. Whether you're in need of a new pair of skis or new snowboard, use FindTheBest's online interactive comparisons to streamline your decision-making.

Fuse Science launched its first product EnerJel(TM) in a series of 4 on December 30, 2011 online at http://www.poweredbyfuse.com.
