China Unicom, Dianping.com Establish Strategic Cooperation by Launching "Wo" Dianping
SHANGHAI, Dec. 12, 2011 / PRNewswire-Asia/ -- China Unicom and Dianping.com jointly announced at the "Wo+Win the Future" - China Unicom Mobile Internet Application Industry Summit 2011 on December 8 that they have entered into a strategic partnership, and, at the same time, launched the "Wo" Dianping, Dianping.com's first application that was designed exclusively for China Unicom and contains the unique features of China Unicom's "Wo" Zone. The "Wo" Dianping will allow China Unicom and Dianping.com to take advantage of each other's platforms for the first time to achieve a win-win situation by combining their complementary capabilities, the two companies said. Going forward, they will also explore cooperation on mobile applications with more innovative experiences for users.
The "Wo" Dianping makes all of Dianping.com's city life guide services available over mobile devices, including searching for merchant information, viewing reviews, downloading e-coupons, check-in via mobile phones and joining in group-buying programs, anytime, anywhere. In addition, the application incorporates the unique features of China Unicom's "Wo" Zone, including being able to quickly look up the details of China Unicom packages that a subscriber has subscribed to, applying for "Wo" packages, instantly logging onto China Unicom's online business hall, and visiting Dianping.com using a China Unicom account number. The "Wo" Dianping fully combines the advantages of mobile devices and the China Unicom platform, and is the first internet application that uses number identification, Take-a-Number on the Net and availability of service information in an open WO+ system.
China Unicom said the open WO+ system has a unique product integrating capability. The carrier plans to select mobile application strategic partners who can deliver innovative, special and premium user experiences, in order to jointly create an open mobile internet platform with positive results for everyone. Dianping.com's platform has unique advantages in terms of local reviews and city life information, and its mobile application has become one of the most popular providers of information services for day to day living. The "Wo" Dianping inherits the premier functionality of Dianping.com's mobile version, while adding China Unicom's unique advantages in the 3G sector. This will provide users with a superior mobile application experience.
Long Wei, director and senior vice president at Dianping.com, gave a keynote speech entitled "Making the Mobile Internet a Wonderful Experience" at the summit. "Dianping.com has been dedicated to providing consumers comprehensive information about merchants and e-coupons, while offering precision and integrated marketing solutions for small and medium-sized businesses. After eight years in development, the site has evolved into a large platform connecting consumers with merchants. With the ever increasing importance of the mobile internet and with the number of unique users of Dianping.com's mobile application increasing exponentially, the advantages of the Dianping.com platform are brought into full play. This is a continuation of Dianping's earlier cooperation with China Unicom. As we enter the 3G era, China Unicom's unique advantage in the 3G sector augments the strategic value of the cooperation. The 'Wo' Dianping takes full advantage of both companies' platforms, to create a mobile application platform with more innovations, better quality and larger room for growth for both consumers and businesses."
Mobile Internet: Opening and Converging
With the increasing popularity of 3G and smartphones, mobile users are expected to soon exceed fixed line users in number, signaling the real dawn of the mobile internet era with operators facing new opportunities and challenges. China Unicom took the lead in proposing the open "Wo" system, in a move to proactively select superior partners open to innovation, and, by doing so, creating a more open mobile application platform integrating various capabilities.
The collaboration between China Unicom and Dianping.com meets China Unicom's 3G subscribers' huge demand for services that help their day to day living. Data shows that as of Q3 2011, with a footprint encompassing more than 2,300 cities across China, Dianping.com had more than 42 million active users, posting 20 million reviews on over 1.2 million member merchants monthly, covering a variety of topics including restaurants, shopping, entertainment, leisure activities, beauty salons, sports fitness, weddings and parenting.
China Unicom's capabilities in number identification, Take-a-Number on the Net, real-time delivery of service information and traffic management, combined with the advantages of Dianping.com's mobile application, will open the way to even more advanced mobile services such as contactless applications and two-dimensional code-based products.
Powerful Alliance Paves the Way for a Promising Future
Over the past two years, Dianping.com has achieved rapid growth in the mobile internet sector, with the increasing popularity of smartphones. Data shows that as of Q3 2011, the application had been downloaded and was being used on more than 13 million mobile devices, and that monthly page views via mobile devices made up over 60 percent of the Dianping.com's total. The number of page views via mobiles continues to grow and is soon expected to equal that via PCs.
At the summit, attendees were of the opinion that the launch of the "Wo" Dianping leaves a broad space for further cooperation between China Unicom and Dianping.com. Senior executives from the two companies said they look forward to an even deeper cooperation in the mobile internet sector going forward.

Child Safety Network App Nearparent Introduces Premium Features for Android Devices - New MyZones Function Allows Parents to Define Safe Locations
App Empowers Children to Make Sound Choices about Their Activities - Children and Parents can Check-in and Send Alerts through the App
SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Nearparent Ltd., an app development company, announced today the launch of the new premium service features for its innovative Nearparent app. The app enables parents to create a trusted and private network of adults available to personally assist their child in time of need. The new premium features extend the usefulness of the application, giving children new ways to receive guidance while they are away from home. The app is available for Android devices and includes several key enhancements.
The most significant new feature for the Nearparent premium service is an innovative MyZones functionality, which allows children to learn more about the safety of their surrounding area. The app enables parents to define safe areas such as "home" or "school" for their child with a set timeframe for them to be in that specific area. Parents can choose to receive in-app alert messages when their child's location shows them being out of the set area. Enhanced alerts allow the child to use either one of the included default messages or write their own text to be included into the alert. This enables the child's network of Nearparent adult helpers to better to assess the severity of the situation and determine what kind of help is needed.
Parents can configure the application via their mobile device and through a secure website at https://my.nearparent.com, making it convenient for those users who prefer a larger PC screen. They can use the site for registration, to add children, invite trusted adult helpers to the network and setup MyZones.
"Our new premium features give parents some added levels of security to ensure the safety of their children," said Topi Jarvinen, one of the creators of the Nearparent app. "Nearparent is designed to work unobtrusively, and new features like MyZones are intended to empower children with information, to help them make better and safer choices. We encourage families to work together to establish certain areas that should be designated in Nearparent. This allows the child to feel some independence and involvement in decision making."
Pricing for the new premium service features is set at $4.99 per month per child, or $49.99 for an annual family membership that will cover an unlimited number of children. New Nearparent app users can try out the new premium features during a ten-day trial period. Users of the free app can still perform several functions including check-ins and basic alerts. Nearparent is available in English, Finnish, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish.
Nearparent is a closed social network with strict privacy controls that keeps the parent's and child's information safe and secure. When a child needs assistance, they simply click a button which alerts the adults in their private network. An integrated map shows the child's location in real time, allowing network members to offer immediate assistance.

vSplash Unveils BuzzBoard, an Intelligence and Analytics Platform for SMB Digital Presence and Performance Management
White-label solution for SMB aggregators allows businesses to view digital presence metrics and operate their social channels from a single streamlined dashboard.
LYNDHURST, N.J. and SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- vSplash, leading provider of performance-based marketing and business solutions for small and medium-sized business aggregators, today introduced BuzzBoard, a powerful digital marketing and analytics platform that gives SMB advertisers a sweeping view of their digital presence -- across websites, search engines, blogs and social media -- and enables them to monitor, measure and track their online performance.
"BuzzBoard offers a holistic view of the digital world of an SMB," said Umesh Tibrewal, founder and chief executive officer, vSplash. "It not only allows SMB aggregators to help their customers understand how they are performing across digital media, it provides aggregators empirical market data for targeting their sales efforts."
As SMBs continue to adopt online, mobile and social marketing tactics, the need is growing for a truly integrated solution to help them effectively manage their digital presence and performance. According to data generated by the BuzzBoard intelligence platform, many SMBs are deficient in their execution of online basics and best practices. The latest BuzzBoard data reveals:
-- 61.5 percent of SMBs that have a Facebook link on their website do not
have a single Facebook fan or follower
-- 51 percent of small businesses with a website cannot currently be found
online because their websites are lacking meta descriptions and meta
titles
These deficiencies represent an opportunity for aggregators to target, attract and retain these SMBs with a comprehensive solution like BuzzBoard for managing their online presence.
"Until now, digital presence management platforms have been largely incomplete, forcing aggregators to deliver only a partial solution to their SMB customers," said Anthony Bratti, senior vice president, business development, vSplash. "BuzzBoard is the only white-label solution that pulls it all together in one place, allowing SMBs to measure and take action to improve their digital marketing efforts."
Aggregator sales personnel can use BuzzBoard to analyze a prospect's online status and generate opportunities for online presence and performance-based packages. In addition, BuzzBoard can open new sales opportunities by identifying areas for improvement in an SMB's marketing mix, including site enhancements, SEO/SEM services and social media development and maintenance.
Key Features
BuzzBoard's centralized view includes:
-- website elements and compliance
-- website traffic analysis
-- inclusion in directory listings
-- online mentions and reviews
-- presence and interactions on social media
-- detailed keyword analysis
-- search engine friendliness and page ranking of an SMB's website
For more information about BuzzBoard, visit http://www.vsplash.com/buzzboard/ or contact Anthony Bratti at anthony@vsplash.com. vSplash is demonstrating BuzzBoard this week at BIA/Kelsey's ILM West conference in San Francisco. Attendees are invited to stop by the vSplash booth #103-104 for a first-hand look at the platform's features and functionality.

Lakeside Software and Trend Micro Collaborate to Quantify Antivirus Footprint for VDI Assessments
Detailed "before" and "after" virtualization modeling by SysTrack factors out desktop security resource usage to improve accuracy of VDI design and lower virtualization costs
BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. and CUPERTINO, Calif., Dec. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Lakeside Software, a leader in business intelligence solutions for IT professionals and Trend Micro Incorporated, a global cloud security leader, today announced the immediate availability of antivirus modeling capability within the Lakeside Software SysTrack data platform, giving IT professionals deeper insight into the benefits of implementing Trend Micro and other anti-malware solutions across physical, virtual and cloud servers as well as virtual desktops.
Companies considering VDI deployments need to understand the resource footprint of their current desktop antivirus solutions, and factor that data into their VDI design. Because virtualized server antivirus implementations are more efficient, failure to account for the impact of individual desktop antivirus solutions will result in the hypervisors being unbalanced, over-provisioned and less efficient. If, for example, antivirus solutions account for 20% of the desktop load, failure to account for this in VDI design will result in up to 20% over-provisioning. SysTrack takes the desktop antivirus solutions out of the VDI calculation, enabling a much more accurate representation of expected hypervisor loads.
Trend Micro develops Internet content security and threat management solutions and is the recognized market leader in server security for delivering top-ranked client, server, and cloud-based data protection solutions. Companies planning VDI deployments can use the antivirus modeling capability in SysTrack to design an efficient VDI deployment ideal for Trend Micro's particularly efficient antivirus solutions for virtualized servers. Furthermore, by providing comparative "before" and "after" modeling, SysTrack can quantify just how small a footprint the highly-efficient Trend Micro solutions deliver.
Supporting Quotes
"An efficient security solution is an essential element of an efficient VDI deployment. SysTrack can quantify just how efficient a security solution Trend Micro is, enabling customers to feel totally confident with the Trend Micro implementation." Brinton Baker, chief marketing officer, Lakeside Software.
"Quantifying the resource load placed on desktops by personal antivirus solutions is essential to accurately provisioning hypervisors. Lakeside Software's SysTrack provides unparalleled granularity in this data, allowing our customers to precisely provision their servers with Trend Micro antivirus solutions." Eric Berkman, director of partner sales, Trend Micro.
"Technology Integration Group uses SysTrack to discover information for designing and implementing a secure desktop environment. SysTrack allows the required information to offload key antivirus and anti-malware functions, reducing the system requirement while improving the virtual machine performance. Lakeside and Trend Micro have allowed Technology Integration Group to deploy for our customers an enhanced performing, scalable, and secure Virtual Desktop platform." Two of Britain's Largest Exhibition Venues Become the UK's First to Deploy Ultra High-Speed (802.11n) Smart Wi-Fi
Earls Court and Olympia Standardize on Ruckus ZoneFlex 802.11n Smart Wi-Fi to Address the Growing Needs for Higher Client Density, Faster Speeds, and 3G Data Offload
LONDON and SUNNYVALE, Calif., Dec. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Ruckus Wireless(TM) today announced that EC&O Venues (EC&O) has selected and standardized on next-generation Smart Wi-Fi products and technology from Ruckus Wireless throughout two of London's premiere event venues: Earls Court and Olympia exhibition halls.
With more than 2.2 million visitors every year, Earls Court and Olympia are the first large-scale public venues in the UK to move to higher speed, dual-band (2.4 and 5 GHz) 802.11n Wi-Fi technology capable of supporting speeds of up to 600 Mbps.
Now operational in both venues, the Ruckus ZoneFlex Wi-Fi system was installed to address reliability, performance and scalability problems of its legacy Wi-Fi system from Aruba Networks, as well as the need to provide mobile data offload from increasingly congested cellular networks.
The new Wi-Fi system uses 35 percent fewer access points while delivering extended coverage and eight to 10 times the performance over EC&O's previous Wi-Fi system. In comparative speed testing of both systems during a live exhibition, EC&O found the Aruba WLAN to deliver 0.2 Mbps of uplink and downlink performance, compared to 16 Mbps of uplink and downlink throughput using the Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi system.
Capacity and Reliability: The Keys to Today's High-Density Wi-Fi Environments
"Providing world-class Wi-Fi within a large public venue is one of the most difficult things to do and a well-known problem that everyone has experienced," said Graham Gee, IT Director for EC&O Venues. "Wi-Fi used to be all about providing pervasive wireless signals everywhere. Now it's all about capacity and reliability. Our existing system just wasn't able to cope with the volume of devices within our venues or adequately deal with wireless ambiguities such as RF interference. Obviously this becomes a major problem when exhibitors and delegates are paying for connectivity."
The new Smart Wi-Fi system is based on patented adaptive array technology that automatically selects the fastest signal path for every transmission while automatically avoiding sources of interference and obstacles that would otherwise degrade user performance. This allows the Wi-Fi service to dynamically adapt to environmental changes, avoid RF noise, and support large numbers of concurrent users. Previously, to support large numbers of simultaneous users, EC&O had to continually add and adjust APs thereby causing the network to self-interfere (co-channel interference).
At a recent mortgage show, equipment from exhibitors was brought into one of the venues that caused severe RF interference. EC&O spent two days isolating this problem. "We can't control what interference finds its way into our venues - and this has been a big problem," said Andy Lang, Network Manager at EC&O Venues. "But now, with an adaptive Wi-Fi system that can automatically mitigate interference, this is a thing of the past."
According to EC&O, the key to dealing with high-density environments laden with interference is to combine advanced technologies working together within a unified system, such as adaptive antenna switching, predictive channel selection, band steering, airtime fairness, and client load balancing.
"Ruckus was the only Wi-Fi supplier we found that had all of these technologies working in concert," said Lang. "But more important, they've really focused on the wireless connection to the client. Other solutions basically provided fancy wireless LAN management features after the users would connect through, what we found to be, largely vanilla reference design Wi-Fi access points."
Wireless reliability was also a major problem in the past for EC&O. It was a common occurrence to provide exhibitors that had paid for wireless connectivity with a wired Ethernet connection to their stands in the event that the Wi-Fi was unstable. "Nine times out of 10 we had to run a backup Ethernet cable and place a dedicated AP on the stands that had contracted for Wi-Fi. With Ruckus, we haven't done this once," said Lang.
Designed for high reliability, the Ruckus system uses patented technology that was conceived and developed to mitigate the erratic behavior of wireless connections to support streaming multimedia such as high-definition IP-based video.
Another pain point for EC&O was the administrative complexity of making changes to the legacy Wi-Fi system. It would routinely take up to 20 minutes to simply add a new virtual wireless network (SSID) or enable a specific Wi-Fi feature, such as bandwidth thresholds per user, and have these settings propagate throughout the entire wireless LAN. With the new Smart Wi-Fi system that time has been cut to 90 seconds.
Through their solutions partner, React Technologies, EC&O has now deployed Ruckus ZoneFlex 7363 dual-band 802.11n APs throughout both exhibition halls as well as redundant ZoneDirector 3000 WLAN controllers for high-availability. Two-gigabit broadband connections feed each facility with four dark fibers interconnecting both venues.
Beyond providing wireless Internet access, the Smart Wi-Fi network can be used to support point-of-sale (PDQ) devices, wireless VoIP handsets, 3G offload services and ultimately IP-based streaming video. EC&O is finding a growing need to use Wi-Fi for helping visitors connect to IP-based data services when local cellular 3G data services are overloaded, slow, or simply unavailable.
"With a stable and robust wireless infrastructure in place, it allows us to really think about all the different services that can be offered and enabled over the network," said Gee. "This includes value-added services to exhibitors and attendees as well as internal services that optimize the operation of our venues. Given that, by definition, our environment is large and mobile, industrial-strength Wi-Fi was no longer an option - it was an imperative."

Fluke Networks' AirMagnet Spectrum XT Redefines Interference Identification and Classification on a Wireless Network
EVERETT, Wash., Dec. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Fluke Networks today announced a new version of AirMagnet Spectrum XT that provides breakthrough interference identification and classification capabilities, simplifying wireless LAN (WLAN) engineers' efforts to track down devices that are blocking enterprise WLANs from operating properly.
The new Auto Pattern Detection feature automatically highlights unclassified repeating spectrum patterns from non-WLAN Radio Frequency (RF) interference sources. Engineers can then easily create custom signatures for future alerts to identify those sources of interference, reducing the time and cost associated with troubleshooting. AirMagnet Spectrum XT is then able to automatically scan, alert and report on those previously identified interference sources.
"In a recent customer survey, 82 percent tell us they're encountering WLAN performance problems caused by non-WLAN sources of interference - and 63 percent are not able to identify the source," said Chia-Chee Kuan, vice president of the Fluke Networks WLAN business unit. "Spectrum XT analyzer's ability to automatically detect unknown RF interference patterns and give engineers the tools to create customized signatures for future alerts is directly targeted at resolving this issue and saves IT staff time and money."
These enhanced RF interference troubleshooting capabilities are already paying off for Tim Dennehy, an independent wireless engineer that works with leading universities and organizations. "I consult on a large WLAN campus that is constantly impacted by staff and student devices and technology. Finding sources of interference that impact our WLAN is a constant challenge. The zero-day detection capability in Spectrum XT helps me eliminate the guesswork associated with finding these types of non-WLAN interference and allows me to classify them so I can instantly identify and remediate in the future," Dennehy said.
"With Wi-Fi use growing 35 percent* each year in the U.S. alone, and with the incredible increase in the number of devices that can cause WLAN interference, we couldn't be more excited about bringing the next generation of Spectrum XT to market for our customers," Kuan said. "Whether our IT management customers are racing to identify unknown devices, identifying known devices and addressing them, or reporting out overall issues with an easy, integrated reporting function, these upgrades are part of our ongoing commitment to ensure we're helping them meet the latest challenges head-on."
The new version of Fluke Networks' AirMagnet Spectrum XT is available now. For customers with valid support agreements, the new version is available as a no-cost upgrade.

Flagstaff Medical Center to Use Smart Phones to Extend Care for Heart Patients
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz., Dec. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Flagstaff Medical Center (FMC) has enrolled its first patient into a ground breaking new program, Care Beyond Walls and Wires, an initiative that will extend the care of patients beyond the walls of the hospital or physician's office. In collaboration with Qualcomm Incorporated, through its Wireless Reach(TM) initiative, Zephyr Technology, Verizon Wireless, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Care Beyond Walls and Wires uses advanced 3G wireless technology and health-monitoring devices to enhance the care of patients with congestive heart failure (CHF) or other related conditions.
"This project launches a model of care that transcends traditional medicine, using state-of-the-art technology to care for patients beyond the walls of the hospital," said William Bradel, Flagstaff Medical Center president and CEO. "Working with these technology companies and national health agencies will extend FMC's reach into outlying areas where healthcare is most needed."
Qualcomm is lending its expertise and donating wireless devices to FMC in support of the project. Zephyr is providing advanced health-monitoring systems to patients and Verizon Wireless is providing 3G-enabled Motorola Droid X2 smart phones. The NIH is assisting FMC with project planning and evaluation.
Care Beyond Walls and Wires uses wireless broadband tools, such as smart phones and 3G technology, to allow in-home daily monitoring of patients with CHF. These tools will collect and transfer critical data, such as weight, blood pressure, activity and other important health indicators, to nurses at FMC who are following patients enrolled in the program. Information will be sent daily for three to six months after the patient's discharge from the hospital. This daily exchange of information enables health care providers and patients to work together to manage CHF. With the technology, health care professionals can detect a decline in a patient's health status early and intervene immediately, helping to reduce unnecessary travel, physician office visits, costs and readmission to a hospital.
According to the Federal government, 25 to 50 percent of CHF patients are rehospitalized within three to six months of a hospital discharge. The primary reasons for rehospitalization include patients not taking medications as prescribed, failure to follow a dietary plan, not knowing the early signs of CHF and lack of planned follow-up with a healthcare provider after leaving the hospital. Each of these factors can be addressed on a daily basis through Care Beyond Walls and Wires.
Fifty patients discharged from FMC following an admission for CHF or related cardiac condition and who are at high risk for readmission will be invited to participate in the project. It is anticipated that many of the project participants will live in underserved and rural communities or on nearby Native American Reservations. Project participants will be provided in-home monitoring equipment, mobile phones and training. Some patients also will receive home visits from outreach staff.
The far-reaching wireless capabilities of this program are especially important to the Native American population living in outlying areas where landline phones may not be available. Some have limited access to electricity and running water and finding transportation to see a physician on a regular basis can be challenging.
"Our mission is to transform the health of the communities we serve," Bradel said. "This program will dramatically extend the delivery of healthcare by giving our CHF patients the tools to stay connected to a nurse at FMC, regardless of how close they are to the hospital."
FMC is Northern Arizona's only regional referral center, caring for more than 85,000 patients each year. Since 1936, FMC, a non-profit subsidiary of Northern Arizona Healthcare, has provided high-quality healthcare services to the residents and visitors of Northern Arizona.
To learn more about programs and services offered at Flagstaff Medical Center, visit FlagstaffMedicalCenter.com or call 928 779-3366.

Additional information:
Each monitoring kit includes: 3G-enabled Motorola Droid X2 smart phone, provided by Verizon Wireless, with a mobile application that allows patients to rapidly record and send information to FMC via a secure Internet portal; an oxygen and pulse monitor; blood pressure cuff; and weight scale. Additional items in the kit may include an advanced Zephyr health-monitoring system to measure other vital signs such as breathing rate, skin temperature, activity and posture.

The Worlds of Gaming and Architecture Collide in New 3-D Rendering Software
ATLANTA, Dec. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The latest video games feature gorgeous graphics and blazing fast speeds but architectural design software is painfully slow to navigate and even slower to render. Why the difference - especially since architects and game designers both create virtual worlds?
VIMtrek is answering that question by bridging the gap between gaming software and architectural rendering programs. Using the backbone of cutting-edge game engine technology, the VIMtrek Producer application is able to rapidly convert Autodesk Revit® designs into immersive, beautifully rendered, and interactive environments, and then share these locally or over the Internet.
"This is what we are calling 'where sense meets sizzle,'" said Nicholas Jeffery, COO of VIMtrek. "The ability to see realistic rendered buildings is nothing new, but to be able to see them in a truly immersive, freely navigable gaming environment with all the augmented data attached to all the objects and the collaboration features, such as VIMnotes--it will blow you away."
Though current architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry standard rendering programs are able to convert design drafts into photorealistic visuals, the renderings are static, take hours to complete, and require a high degree of expertise and computing power. VIMtrek requires little or no technical training, no massive computing power, and renders designs in a matter of minutes. If you can find the up, down, left, and right keys on the keyboard, you can immediately navigate and collaborate within the virtual building, in real time.
"Visual rendering is an important functionin the design process, but because of limitations on budgets and schedules, it is simply not reasonable to stop and render projects when we want to review or discuss a change," said Rodney Mims Cook of PolitesCookArchitects. "VIMtrek will change the use of 3-D technology and make it part of the daily creative process. We can design, render, change, and render again as many times as we want in an hour, let alone over the course of an entire project."
"Game engine designers have had to push the envelope to render complex scenes with millions of polygons in fractions of a second because that space alien chasing after you has to be rendered at 60 frames per second - and it has to look amazing!" said gaming industry veteran and frequent commentator on online virtual worlds, Tracy Spaight. "The majority of makers of CAD and BIM software haven't faced these sorts of demands and thus haven't looked to the gaming space for solutions. VIMtrek has successfully married the best of game engine technology and rendering programs to create a breakthrough piece of software."
The VIMtrek Producer and Viewer software is available through value-added resellers or via vimtrek.com.
Software Components

Increase in Female Start-Ups as Women Entrepreneurs Capitalise on Lifestyle Trends
LONDON, December 12, 2011/PRNewswire/ --
- 12 per cent increase in female-run start-ups this year
- Female owned businesses now account for 37 per cent of all UK start-ups
More women than ever are choosing to work for themselves, according to new data from
Simply Business [http://www.simplybusiness.co.uk ], the UK's largest online business
insurance broker.
The company has seen a 12 per cent increase in quote requests from women starting up
businesses over the past twelve months, with women now accounting for 37 per cent of all
start-up businesses, up from 33 per cent last year.
The figures are based on over 117,000 start-up business quote requests received by
Simply Business so far this year, of which 42,928 were for business start-ups owned by
women, up from 34,116 at the same time in 2010.
Topping the chart for female start-up businesses are creative and service based
industries; with cleaners, beauticians, hairdressers and caterers dominating the top ten.
However, women are also holding their own in 'hard-skill' industries. Accountancy and
financial advisory is the tenth most popular female start-up business and there has been a
16 per cent rise in self-employed female lawyers over the past year.
Top 10 most popular female start-ups
1. Cleaner
2. Beautician
3. Hairdresser
4. Pet Minder
5. Cake Maker
6. Market Trader
7. Caterer / Chef
8. Teaching / Training
9. Accountant / IFA
Female entrepreneurs appear to be particularly skilled at capitalizing on emerging
lifestyle trends. There has been a 95 per cent increase in women starting up as market
traders since 2009, as they embrace the recent popularity for local market produce. This
is now the sixth most popular start up business for women. Similarly, pet-minding and
cake-making have also both grown dramatically over the past year, as has complementary
therapy, with a 15 per cent rise.
There has also been a sharp rise in the number of women setting up shop in the
traditionally public sector spheres of education and health; with female start-up
education consultants up by 61 per cent and independent nursing businesses by 46 per cent.
Jason Stockwood, CEO of Simply Business [http://www.simplybusiness.co.uk ], commented:
"With unemployment at its highest for 23 years it is encouraging to see that more and more
women are embracing the opportunity to set up on their own. Entrepreneurship can provide
fantastic lifestyle and financial benefits, not to mention the boost it can potentially
bring to the economy, with Teresa May recently saying that female talent could be worth an
extra GBP60bn. With more than ever high-profile businesswomen, like Mary Portas, Jo Malone
and Michelle Mone, as inspiration, plus support such as the new mentor programme being
driven by the Government, we expect the number of female entrepreneurs will keep on
growing in the future."

5 Examples Introduces the Tio Keyboard for the Mobile Market
Mobile users can now simplify text entry, editing, navigation, and customization on their mobile devices
CARY, N.C., Dec. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- 5 examples, inc., a supplier of innovative solutions for portable devices, today announced its Tio keyboard for mobile devices. The new keyboard uses a simplified QWERTY keyboard layout enabling faster and easier typing on a mobile device.
Available virtually as an application on the Android Market starting today, and as a Bluetooth(®) hardware accessory in Q2 2012, the Tio keyboard empowers consumers to quickly text or type in an easy-to-use format. The pocket-sized physical Tio keyboard contains full-size keys, supports touch-typing, and capitalizes on a user's familiarity with a traditional keyboard, while the virtual keyboard for touch screens on mobile devices offers an unprecedented experience for editing, navigation, and customization.
The number of mobile phone subscriptions worldwide reached 4.6 billion in 2010 and is expected to increase to five billion this year, according to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). In addition, 12 percent of the U.S. Internet population (ages 8-64) owns or uses a tablet, with that number expected to jump to 23 percent this year. Of these tablet users, 87 percent are accessing content and information, and the average tablet user has downloaded 20 different applications (Online Publishers Association, June 2011). Forrester Research has predicted tablet sales to more than double from 10.3 million devices in 2010 to 24.1 million units through 2012.
Cultural factors also play a role in the increased use of text messaging and data on mobile devices. About five billion text messages are sent each month in the U.S., up from 2.8 billion a year ago, according to the wireless trade association CTIA. Teenagers have made it a routine way to communicate. About 63 percent of Americans from ages 18 to 27 use text messaging, according to a Pew Internet & American Life Project survey out in March 2010. Those teens are bringing texting to their parents -- or are moving into the workforce and texting with older colleagues. Now 31 percent of cell phone owners ages 28 to 39 use text and data applications, and 18 percent of those 40 to 49 do, Pew reports.
"We are excited to be eliminating the barriers to communication, simplifying the way people use the data on their smartphones and tablets, and bridging the generation gap," said Bjorn Jawerth, CEO of 5 examples. "With over four billion mobile phones and the surging popularity of tablets in the market, being able to type easily and efficiently is critical for this growing market."
Headquartered in Cary, N.C., 5 examples develops solutions for portable devices, with a focus on significant challenges for the convergence of communications, movies, music, games, and productivity.

Radware's AMS solution will integrate the carrier's existing point security
capabilities - such as firewall and proxy protection, signature-based intrusion
prevention, anti-spam gateways and scrubbing center denial of service mitigation - into an
holistic attack mitigation system. The carrier chose Radware AMS for its ability to
deliver synergy to multiple protection modules as part of one system while providing
unified reporting and compliance. As a result, the Radware AMS solution will help the
carrier defend against the increasingly sophisticated multi-vector attacks that strike
network IT assets at multiple layers, large scale botnet attacks, and attackers that
imitate real users in order to misuse services and application resources.
Under the agreement, Radware will begin installing the system in January 2012.
"While the customer's initial focus was firewall protection, managers felt relying on
individual point security tools alone for network infrastructure security were not enough
to protect against the new wave of sophisticated cyber attacks," said Ron Meyran,
director, security product marketing, Radware. "Network equipment and applications
infrastructures are typically the main targets of these multi-layered attacks, and
Radware's AMS offers a unique solution to integrate their existing security tools into an
holistic strategy, achieving a real-time, proactive, attack mitigation system."
Radware's AMS is a real-time network and application attack mitigation solution that
protects the application infrastructure against network and application downtime,
application vulnerability exploitation, malware spread, information theft, Web service
attacks and Web defacement. It contains a protection layer with security modules including
denial-of-service (DoS) protection, network behavioral analysis (NBA), intrusion
prevention system (IPS), reputation engine and Web application firewall (WAF) to fully
safeguard networks, servers and applications against known and emerging network security
threats.
Radware supplements these capabilities by adding the human factor - the professional
security consultants of its Emergency Response Team (ERT) who are available around the
clock. As literal 'first responders' to cyber attacks, Radware's ERT members gained their
extensive experience by successfully dealing with some of the industry's most notable
hacking episodes, providing the knowledge and expertise to mitigate the kind of attack a
business's security team may never have handled.
Additionally, by combining these protections in a single, integrated solution, Radware
AMS reduces capital expenses by avoiding the need to install multiple point security
tools, and it saves on operational expenses by reducing the complexity of collecting data
and managing the system.
