STMicroelectronics Expands Capabilities in Convergent Home Digital Networking and Smart Grid
Completes IP and talent acquisition from Arkados, strengthening ST's position in powerline communications
GENEVA, July 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM), a global semiconductor leader serving customers across the spectrum of electronics applications, is enhancing its powerline communication (PLC) capabilities with the completion of its acquisition of the semiconductor assets and intellectual property of Arkados.
Arkados has been a leading player in the new industry initiative HomePlug, focused on accelerating the development and deployment of Convergent Digital Home Networking, and ST has been working closely with Arkados since late 2008 to develop best-in-class HomePlug wideband PLC solutions. Home networking via wideband PLC technology provides the key advantage of the 'no-new-wire' approach to users because high-speed home networks can be created by using the power sockets and wiring infrastructure that already exist in the home.
Today, ST is already the undisputed leader in Smart Metering, which gives consumers the ability to monitor and manage their electricity usage as never before, and in Smart-Grid Powerline Communication. ST's narrow-band PLC platforms are already extensively deployed in major smart-metering infrastructure programs worldwide. The newly acquired, additional broadband IP completes ST's offering in Powerline Communication, giving the Company an even stronger position to lead in the future broadband PLC markets, such as home multimedia networking, Smart Energy applications, and electric-vehicle-to-the-grid communication technologies, collectively known as Convergent Home Digital Networking and Smart Grid.
"ST is continuing to extend its leadership in energy management and energy savings by focusing on the most innovative technologies to deliver the applications that will allow people to enjoy the widest access to information and entertainment anytime, anywhere, while minimizing power consumption," said Carmelo Papa, Senior Executive Vice President and General Manager, Industrial and Multisegment Sector, STMicroelectronics. "We believe that the Arkados implementation of the HomePlug technologies offers many advantages in terms of size, simplicity, flexibility and future expandability over other industry proposals. Combining ST's technology with Arkados' expertise in broadband powerline communications will accelerate the widespread adoption of PLC as a backbone for home networks and smart grid," concluded Papa.
About STMicroelectronics
STMicroelectronics is a global leader serving customers across the spectrum of electronics applications with innovative semiconductor solutions. ST aims to be the undisputed leader in multimedia convergence and power applications leveraging its vast array of technologies, design expertise and combination of intellectual property portfolio, strategic partnerships and manufacturing strength. Further Information on HomePlug and Powerline Technologies
HomePlug is an industry-wide alliance (http://www.homeplug.org) whose sponsors include ST and many other top players. The Alliance's mission is to enable and promote rapid availability, adoption and implementation of cost effective, interoperable and standards-based home powerline networks and products.
The HomePlug technologies are fully compliant to the IEEE1901(1) standard for broadband-over-powerline networks and offer a complete ecosystem of interoperable technologies ensuring the forward migration path to Gigabit-class service. There are two major variants within HomePlug standard: the HomePlug GP (Green PHY), which targets 'Smart Grid' and smart-energy applications; and HomePlug AV (Audio/Video), which is the consumer standard, aimed primarily at home networking. HomePlug GP and AV are interoperable.
Home networking via powerline technology provides the key advantage of the 'no-new-wire' approach to users. Fast home networks can be created by using the power sockets that already exist in the home.
The 'Smart Grid' is essentially an intelligent and digital electricity network, and is being used to define the next generation of distribution networks for electricity. Using their home networks, consumers will be able to communicate with the smart grid, through their electricity meters, offering smarter power management for utility companies and consumers alike.
Electric Vehicle to Grid Communication will allow utilities and consumers to manage the process of charging Plug-In Electric Vehicles, providing the much needed ability to control the amount of energy consumed from the power grid during peak hours. Recently the HomePlug Alliance received a letter from the Coordination Office Charging Interface, Carmeq GmbH, representing five German automakers stating that these OEMs had selected PLC IEEE1901 Profile Green PHY (HomePlug GP(2)) as the communication technology between Plug-in Electric Cars and Charging Stations. A key objective for a global standard is the selection of a common communication technology for the physical & data link layer.

Logicalis UK Launches ImmersiV - a Consumption-Based 'Video as a Service' Portfolio From Desktop to Telepresence
SLOUGH, England, July 5, 2011/PRNewswire/ --
- Video-as-a-Service Accelerates Adoption, Exploitation and Expansion of
Consumption-Based Secure Business Video
Logicalis UK, today announced the launch of ImmersiV, a complete
portfolio of cloud hosted, Video-as-a-Service (VaaS) offerings, bringing
quality, on demand, consumption-based services to the enterprise. With high
definition quality desktop video services starting at under GBP30 per month
per user, ImmersiV is designed to accelerate and simplify the adoption,
exploitation and expansion of business video.
The new portfolio includes Video-to-Video Bridging (VtoV), Secure Video
Meeting Rooms, Logicalis' own Managed Video Network (MVN), and a personal
video assistant, the VideoPA. Organisations can pay for video to match their
exact usage needs, and can access services such as external bridging to
other organisations without having to build their own discreet
infrastructure.
"Video is now considered a truly beneficial business productivity tool,"
commented Tom Kelly, managing director of Logicalis UK, "whether for busy
executives saving time on travel, meeting more customers and suppliers
face-to-face, or using video to positively impact complex business processes
such as supply chain management, the benefit of video is no longer in
question. The only question many users now have is how quickly can I adopt
video and how can I pay for it without having to commit to a large capital
purchase?
'ImmersiV brings a simple consumption-based model to video use, and
further demonstrates our continued commitment to enable customers to only
have to pay for what they use, and consume IT in new and innovative ways. We
want to encourage users to adopt widespread video, and do so with minimal
impact on their capital budget or strain on their IT department or IT
infrastructure. Logicalis ImmersiV makes high quality video financially and
technically viable for even the smallest of organisations."
The services are available immediately for desktop users, small, medium
and large room systems, and Telepresence suites. The full suite of ImmersiV
services are delivered from Logicalis' UK-based cloud platform, and include:
- ImmersiV - suite of endpoints, out-of-band network and
external bridging provided as a service offers immediate business video
value with minimal IT department impact.
- ImmersiV VtoV - Secure hosted internal and external bridging
(VtoV) and secure virtual rooms - connects users with suppliers and
customers and provides access to secure virtual rooms for multi-user
video conferencing.
- ImmersiV Managed Video Network - reduces the need for time
consuming and expensive network upgrades - guaranteeing Quality of
Experience (QoE) when the existing network is not tuned for video
services.
- ImmersiV VideoPA - full service management of users' total video
experience.
"With ImmersiV, a month's high quality video service to the desktop is
now considerably less expensive than a standard return journey between
Manchester and London, and executives recognise that by not leveraging video
in normal business practice they are wasting valuable time and money,"
commented Damien Hicks, director of video services at Logicalis UK. "But,
video isn't simply about saving bottom line business costs, or not having to
wait about in airport lounges. Extending an individual's presence from their
desk or a video room system can dramatically improve customer engagement and
customer satisfaction.
'Organisations can now adopt high definition video, as a full service,
and can directly compare the monthly cost of video enablement with the cost
of a single rail ticket, demonstrating tangible financial and productivity
ROI in the first month. With ImmersiV there is no added strain on the IT
department, and if the customer's network is not suitable for video, we can
enable immediate video adoption on our managed video network. This new
portfolio is the fastest and most efficient way of making video an immersive
business tool."
Built on Cisco/Tandberg video infrastructure, and leveraging high
definition MOVI desktop solutions for individual users, the VaaS solution
from Logicalis is a totally integrated turn-key video environment.

European Convention on Serious Gaming in Health care
AMSTERDAM, July 5, 2011/PRNewswire/ --
- Games and Simulations Effective Tool to Improve Health Care
On Monday 24 and Tuesday 25 October, the Games For Health Foundation is
organizing the first European convention Games for Health Europe 2011 in the
Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam. The convention provides answers to the question
in what way games and simulations are able to provide a contribution to
improved health care, and to help keep it affordable.
Over the course of two days, sixty presentations workshops and
demonstrations will provide an insight into the latest developments in game
applications in care for the elderly, care for addicts, psychiatric care,
rehabilitation, fitness, medical education and gynecology. Organizer
Jurriaan van Rijswijk took the convention from Boston to Amsterdam: "This
convention brings together a special mix of game developers, medical
professionals and researchers who all pursue the same objective: how do
these separate worlds work together more effectively and how do we develop
games we can use effectively in training doctors and nurses, treating
physical or psychological complaints of patients, and in the prevention of
illness in general. "
Game on prescription
According to Van Rijswijk, games in health care are an area of huge
growth. Gynecologists for example, can use the game 'Birthplay' to practice
difficult delivery scenarios on their PC. Young cancer patients can play the
specially developed game 'Re-Mission' which allows them to deal with their
illness better, and to recover more quickly after treatments. Iraq war
veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSS) play a game especially
developed for them as part of a psychotherapy treatment plan. Van Rijswijk:
"It is a question of time, but in the near future, you will go to your
doctor and you will be prescribed a game, which alleviates the symptoms.
This convention offers a platform for exactly these types of progressive
applications."
Target group
The target group of the convention is the European game producers,
publishers of games and simulation games, IT companies, managers of health
institutions, policy makers of the government, researchers and Ph.D
students. The content of the conference is determined in close collaboration
with the parent organization of Games for Health in Boston in the US.
Participation in the convention costs 395 Euros in pre-registration instead
of 495 Euros. You can register at http://www.gamesforhealtheurope.org

TI achieves first Netflix HD certification, brings new streaming capabilities to Android devices
Complete with M-Shield(TM) security technology, OMAP 4 platform enables first secure full HD streaming experience for Netflix on mobile devices to large screens
DALLAS, July 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) today became the first partner to achieve the Netflix Silicon Reference Implementation (SRI) certification for the Netflix HD application on Android. TI's OMAP(TM) 4 platform, complete with M-Shield(TM) security technology and TI's quad-radio WiLink(TM) 7.0 connectivity combo solution, met the Netflix requirements for mobile content streaming, including the ability to run up to full high-definition (HD) 1080p video within strict security measures. This milestone reflects the strength of TI's M-Shield technology on the OMAP 4 platform and marks the first time Netflix has certified its 1080p streaming application with end-to-end protection on a mobile device.
With its dual ARM® Cortex(TM)-A9 MPCore foundation featuring TrustZone®, TI's OMAP 4 platform sets the bar for multimedia-rich Netflix experiences on today's mobile devices. It employs parallel processing for higher performance and better power efficiency, and includes engines that drive consumer-demanded capabilities such as full HD 1080p 30fps multi-standard video and more. Part of the OMAP 4 platform, TI's M-Shield security technology protects premium content and mobile devices from attacks while streaming with the Netflix application. The M-Shield solution implements a hardware-protected, trusted execution environment (TEE), which runs on the OMAP processor, yet does not require a dedicated chip or extra CPU cycles. This allows M-Shield and OMAP architecture to provide optimal playback time, while maintaining low CPU loading so it is free to run other applications.
Additional streaming security was achieved through the use of Wi-Fi-based WEP, WPA and WPA2 protocols, part of TI's WiLink 7.0 solution--the industry's only single chip to include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth®, GPS and FM technologies.
Smartphones and tablets running the Netflix application on the OMAP 4 platform can also connect to larger, HDMI-supported televisions as the OMAP platform's security includes HDCP encryption over the HDMI connection itself.
"Netflix already has a rich heritage of streaming to PCs, Macs, game consoles, Internet-connected TVs, iPhone and iPad, and many set-top-boxes, so we sought a semiconductor partner that could bring our service to the broader mobile environment smoothly and securely," said Bill Holmes, Vice President Business Development, Netflix. "TI's OMAP architecture and M-Shield security will set the stage for a high-performance, low-power, secure platform that will help Netflix members instantly watch unlimited TV shows and movies on Android devices."
"TI is proud to be the first to achieve this coveted certification and to provide the solution that ensures a strong balance of performance, security and power efficiency as Netflix experiences migrate to the mobile world," said Fred Cohen, director of the OMAP User Experience team, TI. "Our OMAP processors deliver rich, life-like experiences on mobile devices, while our M-Shield technology stands as the guard dog, protecting customer, content provider and consumer assets. It's the best of both worlds, driving new growth opportunities for Netflix in the Android marketplace."
TI worked with Trusted Logic to develop the secure middleware component (SMC), which is the OMAP version of Trusted Logic Trusted Foundations(TM). The SMC executes Trusted Logic TrustedShow(TM) and an OMAP-optimized implementation of the Netflix-required Microsoft PlayReady(TM) DRM scheme.
"This Netflix certification represents another milestone in our successful work with the TI team," said Olivier Leger, VP and General Manager, Trusted Logic. "We are thrilled to bring the most advanced features - including premium content distribution and streaming - to various consumer products in a safe, secure manner. Netflix users and stakeholders will benefit from our proven technology, now optimized for TI's M-Shield, and the best possible experiences on their mobile devices."
Support and availability
The OMAP 4 platform's Netflix certification supports Android 2.3 ("Gingerbread") today, with support for additional Android versions planned for this year. Devices with the OMAP 4 processor-driven Netflix application pre-installed will be launched in the near future.

INTERSPORT Optimizes Virtual Environment With Expand Networks
Virtual Accelerators Protect Performance of SAP, Video Conferencing and Critical Applications Across Sporting House's International Sites
ROSELAND, New Jersey, July 5, 2011/PRNewswire/ --
Expand Networks, the leader in optimizing WANs for branch office
consolidation and virtualization, announces that INTERSPORT International
has implemented its Virtual Accelerator (VACC) to optimize SAP, video
conferencing and other critical applications between its headquarters in
Switzerland and China. Benefitting from a fully virtualized WAN optimization
solution, INTERSPORT is already experiencing 35% acceleration during the
test phase, and now plans to extend the solution to its Hong Kong office.
INTERSPORT International is the brand management and purchasing company
of the INTERSPORT Group, which has more than 5,300 associated retailers in
39 countries. The FMCG industry requires them to constantly share and update
information on brands, suppliers, purchasing, and market rates. The
performance of the WAN is critical to this, however, the company experienced
challenges in network reliability and key application performance.
Jicky Li, Network Manager, at INTERSPORT International, comments,
"Connectivity in China was not stable, and we were experiencing inconsistent
network performance for overseas bandwidth. This impacted productivity, and
slowed critical communication between our international offices. This was
particularly prevalent with SAP, but also other data traffic such as
filesharing and email communications."
INTERSPORT also highlighted its use of video conferencing for internal
communications, also used to communicate with large brands such as Nike, as
a key challenge for WAN performance. Evaluating products from Juniper,
Riverbed and F5, Expand was chosen for its virtualised form factor and
superior ability to accelerate and prioritise all applications.
"Having made an investment into creating a wholly virtualised
environment at INTERSPORT, it was critical that any new software must fully
support VMWare in order to match the virtual network. Expand was the only
product to provide this," commented Li.
Expand's Virtual Accelerators live within, and accelerate out of,
virtual environments By leveraging the existing virtual infrastructure at
INTERSPORT, Expand's WAN optimization technology is deployed as a "virtual
image". Delivering the most advanced levels of VMware integration,
INTERSPORT can use VMware's suite of services to simply deploy, manage,
maintain and assure the Expand Accelerator Image within their existing
virtualized infrastructure.
"After we installed Expand, traffic was smooth and user experience
consistent," Li explained. "The virtualised system in China now runs like a
LAN. Expand has also made a difference to senior execs, regularly travelling
between international offices. For them, connecting to the Exchange Server
in our Swiss HQ was difficult and slow, but with Expand's compression
techniques, this pain point has been eliminated."
INTERSPORT has completed the implementation of Expand Networks' Virtual
Accelerators between its Swiss HQ and China. Based on the early success of
the deployment, Li and his team are now planning to extend the solution to
its Hong Kong office later this year.

KDDI and Ruckus Wireless Debut the World's Largest Mobile Data Offload Network and First Nationwide Wi-Fi Access Service in Japan
New KDDI "au Wi-Fi SPOT Service" to Give Subscribers "Instant On, No-Touch Access" at over 100,000 Hotspots Planned Throughout Japan
TOKYO, and SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 5, 2011/PRNewswire/ -- Ruckus Wireless(TM) (Ruckus) today announced that it has been selected by KDDI Corporation, Japan's principal telecommunications provider, to supply advanced Wi-Fi products for the world's first and largest "instant on" Wi-Fi access and mobile data offload service.
With over 32 million mobile subscribers, KDDI is leveraging advanced carrier Wi-Fi technology, pioneered by Ruckus Wireless, to offload mobile data traffic from its cellular network while providing subscribers with seamless, high-speed wireless access throughout Japan.
Subscribers of KDDI's packet flat rate plans can now use the new KDDI "au Wi-Fi SPOT" service free of charge with their au Android smartphones in over 10,000 locations initially, scaling to 100,000 locations by March 2012. With no tedious, manual configuration of the phone, KDDI subscribers can automatically access and be authenticated to KDDI au Wi-Fi hotspots using credentials embedded within each phone over highly secured and encrypted connections.
"Wi-Fi is clearly at the top of the list for service providers around the world looking for new ways to increase cellular capacity," said Selina Lo, president and CEO of Ruckus Wireless. "KDDI has taken a truly innovative approach to building a heterogeneous network that combines macro cellular technology, femtocells, WiMAX and Wi-Fi to address the exponential growth of wireless data traffic."
Lo noted that innovative service providers face a number of issues as they look to support the aggressive smartphone rollouts. Legacy macro-cell architectures cannot provide density of coverage for today's demanded applications such as access to rich media and social media networks. This translates into evolved network requirements that include:
-- varying traffic demands and traffic mix,
-- constantly changing RF environments,
-- capacity limitations driving smaller cell deployments,
-- challenges in providing indoor coverage and
-- difficulties in acquiring sites where equipment can be installed.
With Wi-Fi embedded in virtually every mobile Internet device, common hotspot services have become an important component of effective coverage for today's service providers worldwide that offer smartphones. Wi-Fi hotspots are a quick and cost-effective way for mobile operators to inject wireless capacity in areas of high usage, thereby alleviating the pressures on 3G/4G infrastructures caused by the explosion of mobile Internet data traffic.
However, the lack of integration between Wi-Fi hotspots and cellular networks has hampered operators from delivering a seamless and consistent subscriber experience to the exploding population of smartphone and tablet users. KDDI has solved this problem, through introducing innovative bundled plans that include both 3G and Wi-Fi traffic in a variety of options. The charging is unified, and access to both 3G and Ruckus-driven Wi-Fi networks is a single seamless experience for KDDI's customers.
More Devices, More Users and More Traffic Drive Infrastructure Changes
"Dramatic changes in customer behavior and the related growth in mobile data traffic from the use of smartphones are having a profound impact on user expectations, service delivery and network infrastructure build-out," said Tadashi Egawa, head of KDDI's Service Development and Wi-Fi Business Strategy Department.
The new national Wi-Fi infrastructure initiative is part of KDDI's larger 3M strategy (multi-device, multi-use, multi-network) to deliver a wide range of innovative content and services over the best network anytime, anywhere to the preferred user device. The heart of this strategy is tackling Japan's explosive data growth from the use of smartphones, tablets and other Wi-Fi-enabled devices.
The largest mobile data offloading service on record, KDDI's new Wi-Fi overlay leverages its national WiMAX network to backhaul data traffic from each Wi-Fi hotspot to KDDI's mobile network core. Each Ruckus ZoneFlex(TM) Wi-Fi access point (AP) connects wirelessly to KDDI's WiMAX infrastructure - speeding deployment times and service availability, cutting operational expense and eliminating the need to provision fixed broadband access lines at each location.
"We see carrier-grade Wi-Fi products and technologies as instrumental to achieving a number of strategic objectives from enhancing the user experience to adding wireless access and capacity wherever users go, not to mention increasing the efficiency of our existing mobile infrastructure," said Egawa.
Building the World's Largest Mobile Data Offload Service
KDDI's initial focus is offloading data traffic indoors. For its first phase, KDDI is deploying more than 10,000 Ruckus ZoneFlex 7363 and 7341 dual-band 802.11 indoor access points in venues throughout Japan. A WiMAX router connected to each ZoneFlex 7300 via a USB port allows Wi-Fi traffic to be automatically backhauled over KDDI's national WiMAX network. KDDI is using Ruckus controller and network management systems to centrally manage ZoneFlex APs, and the Ruckus FlexMaster Wi-Fi system management platform to provide statistical traffic analysis, reporting and troubleshooting on a national scale.
"We selected Ruckus products and technologies because they not only outperformed competitive alternatives but were specifically designed to be easily managed and scaled to support service provider infrastructures such as ours," said Egawa. "Ruckus Wi-Fi technology is delivering much better coverage, interference mitigation and deployment flexibility that we couldn't find in any other supplier and at a cost point that enables nationwide deployment. They meet our needs and specifications for carrier grade equipment."
Smarter Wi-Fi for Service Providers
The demand for capacity and speed is driving mobile operators toward a heterogeneous network strategy -- augmenting macro cellular networks with many smaller radios in high-density locations. While the technologies for large-scale heterogeneous networks are still in development, operators can now put in motion a deployment process with Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi.
One of the practical challenges in small cell deployments is site acquisition, a costly and time-consuming process, and literally a battleground for land grab. By deploying Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi APs today, operators can quickly establish their small cell site footprint. Future radio deployments can make use of the same mounting positions, leasing arrangement, power and backhaul systems already in place.
The Ruckus Mobile Wi-Fi portfolio brings together the complete collection of indoor and outdoor Ruckus ZoneFlex APs that can be centrally managed. All ZoneFlex APs are equipped with patented BeamFlex(TM) smart antenna technology for automatic interference avoidance, critical in assuring performance, range and reliability in unlicensed spectrum operations. ZoneFlex outdoor access points are delivered in form factors that are aesthetically suitable for street-level deployment and packaged for single pole-climber installation.

Adaptrum Demonstrates TV Whitespace Solution at Cambridge TV Whitespace Trial Launch Event
SAN JOSE, Calif., July 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Adaptrum, a Silicon-Valley based company developing wireless broadband solution using unlicensed TV whitespace, demonstrated its radio system at the Cambridge TV Whitespace Trial launch event in Cambridge, United Kingdom, on June 29th, 2011. Adaptrum's innovative cognitive radio technology uses any available spectrum below 1 GHz with a fully flexible architecture to support different types of services and applications, while meeting stringent interference requirements established by the FCC. As a key demonstration in this event, Adaptrum established a TV whitespace broadband connection under extraordinarily challenging propagation conditions and was able to deliver consistent high-throughput data connectivity where other wireless technologies like WiFi fell short.
In the demonstration, the Adaptrum whitespace system provided the broadband IP connectivity allowing a client-side Microsoft XBOX to stream live HD videos from the Internet. Also as part of the demo, a live XBOX/Kinect video chat was established between two XBOX/Kinect units connected through the same TV whitespace connection. These applications were demonstrated under a highly challenging radio propagation environment with more than 120 dB link loss through buildings, foliage, walls, furniture, people etc. and with severe multipath effects. To demonstrate the complete TV whitespace system, the Adaptrum radio system was also interacting with the Microsoft UK TV whitespace database for the updated channel list at Cambridge.
"We are very pleased that Adaptrum agreed to provide its TV white space system for the Cambridge TV White Spaces Trial. In April, this same system was successfully demonstrated at the National Association of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. We look forward to working with Adaptrum in deploying this exciting new technology and demonstrating real-world uses cases and applications using TV white space," said Paul Garnett, Director of Standards and Interoperability, Microsoft.
"We are excited to provide our whitespace solution for the Cambridge trial. Such trial is exactly what we need to test drive this new technology. Today, as more people are using their wireless devices, we see an increasing gap between the demand and supply sides of wireless bandwidth. Unlicensed technology will play the key role in closing this gap, as carriers lack the incentive to invest in new infrastructures if they cannot charge more than what they have already been charging. Just as WiFi has been offloading the majority of wireless data traffic today, TV whitespace technology with its superior reach and performance will provide wireless bandwidth where WiFi cannot. Unlicensed and lightly licensed spectrum lowers the barrier of entry and encourages innovation on technology, deployment and new business model which may well be the real answer to our mobile broadband problem. We are pleased to see the world's leading technology companies are standing solidly behind this technology and helping raise the public awareness about TV whitespace so collectively we can help realize the true potential of the public airwave," said Haiyun Tang, CEO of Adaptrum.

Whether you own a single car or a fleet of commercial trucks, the Wildcat can make a real impact on your fuel economy bottom line."
About the Wildcat Hydrogen Booster
Typical combustion engines are less than 20 percent efficient in transferring the energy contained in gasoline into usable energy. Only one out of each five gallons of fuel is utilized to power a vehicle; four out of five gallons are lost to heat and friction.
The Wildcat Hydrogen Booster maximizes fuel efficiency by dispensing a controlled release of hydrogen at a customized level for each engine. When hydrogen is introduced within the engine at an acceptable concentration, a more efficient burn takes place. This allows engines to utilize more energy from fuel-reducing pollutants that usually exit the tailpipe. The exhaust now runs at a lower temperature and reduces carbon, heat and friction. The result is a fuel savings of up to 30 percent and a change of the makeup of gasses being released into the atmosphere.

The PSD provides a system of licenses for Internet Payment Service
Providers, lays down information requirements regarding payment services,
and lists rights and obligations of both Payment Service Providers and
users. The aim of this Directive is to ensure the user-friendliness, safety,
and efficiency of payments throughout the European Union / European Economic
Area - in particular credit transfers, direct debit mandates, card payments,
and so-called money transfers. It introduces and harmonizes rules concerning
the providers of payment services.
Verotel is headquartered in the Netherlands and therefore must comply
with European Union regulations. The EU's recent PSD initiative meant
Verotel and its employees had to undergo a rigorous licensing process. The
Verotel customers have the additional protection and confidence of an
official EU license that you won't get with any US-based high-risk billing
services.
About Verotel

implemented for over 50,000 websites worldwide, allowing merchants to accept

Italian Space Agency to Cooperate With Eutelsat and Skylogic on Broadband Connectivity in Italy
ASI Signs Memorandum of Understanding With Skylogic to use Eutelsat's KA-SAT High Throughput Satellite
PARIS and ROME, July 4, 2011/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
ASI, the Italian Space Agency today announced an agreement with Eutelsat
Communications (Euronext Paris: ETL) to use the new KA-SAT High Throughput
Satellite in order to develop broadband connectivity for public
administrations in Italy. The agreement was signed by Enrico Saggese,
President of ASI, and Arduino Patacchini, CEO of Skylogic, the Eutelsat
affiliate that provides broadband services through KA-SAT.
Eutelsat's high-capacity KA-SAT infrastructure is a powerful new
platform for extending broadband access to users beyond range of terrestrial
networks. ASI is planning the progressive use of 550 Mbps of KA-SAT capacity
across 10 spotbeams that together provide full coverage of Italian
territory. The capacity will mainly be deployed to deliver broadband to
Italian public administrations beyond range of terrestrial networks so that
the benefits of ICT can be extended to citizens located in previously
underserved regions.
A Public Private Partnership will be set up by ASI with the private
sector to deploy broadband services for Italian institutional and government
entities. These will include the Tooway? service, which is delivered
through KA-SAT, and offers users broadband speeds of up to 10 Mbps
downstream and 4 Mbps upstream. In addition, ASI will cooperate with
Skylogic to access KA-SAT and to define integration schemes between
Tooway? and the capacity that ASI foresees to have on its own satellites
in the future.
Enrico Saggese, President of ASI, said: "ASI is looking carefully after
the overall Italian satellite telecommunications strategy, with the
objective of deploying state-of-the-art infrastructure to cover the needs of
institutional customers. We think that exploiting the public-private
partnership in this field will be very beneficial, for both the efficiency
and the effectiveness of the relevant programmes. This agreement with
Eutelsat and Skylogic is fully consistent with our objectives and opens wide
cooperation perspectives, for the benefit of the Italian institutions and
citizens."
Michel de Rosen, Eutelsat CEO, added: "This agreement with ASI is a new
example of how our powerful and flexible KA-SAT infrastructure can be used
to efficiently and quickly equalise access to the benefits of broadband. We
are delighted to build this new relationship with Italy's National Space
Agency, which is committed to exploiting the strengths of satellite
telecommunications for increasing knowledge and developing a culture of high
technology in Italy."
In service since May 2011, Eutelsat's high-capacity all Ka-band system,
combining satellite and on-ground infrastructure, opens a new chapter in the
market for satellite-based IP services. Its revolutionary concept is based
on a payload with 82 narrow spotbeams connected to 10 ground stations. This
configuration enables frequencies to be reused 20 times and takes total
throughput to beyond 70 Gbps. The ground network uses ViaSat's SurfBeam(R) 2
technology, an advanced version of the technology already powering broadband
connectivity for 500,000 satellite homes in North America. The combination
of KA-SAT's exceptional capacity and SurfBeam(R) 2 enables Internet
connectivity to be delivered at speeds comparable to ADSL for more than one
million homes in Europe and large parts of the Mediterranean Basin.
About ASI
The Italian Space Agency was founded in 1988. Its purpose was to
coordinate all of Italy's efforts and investments in the space sector that
had begun in the 1960s. In 20 years, ASI became one of the most significant
players in the world in space science, satellite technologies and the
development of mobile systems for exploring the Universe. Today, ASI has a
key role at the European level where Italy is the third contributor country
to the European Space Agency. It also is involved at the international
level. For example, ASI has a close working relationship with NASA, which
has led to its participation in many of the most interesting scientific
missions of recent years. One of the most fascinating projects has been the
construction and activities of the International Space Station where Italian
astronauts are by now at home. Thanks to ASI's efforts, the Italian
scientific community has had unprecedented successes in recent years in
astrophysics and cosmology, contributing among other things to
reconstructing the first moments of life in the universe or making essential
steps towards understanding the gamma ray bursts phenomenon. Furthermore,
ASI has contributed significantly to space exploration by building
scientific instruments that are aboard NASA and ESA probes bound for
discovering the secrets of Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. In all of the major
missions planned for future years-from Venus to the comets, up to the outer
limits of our solar system-there will be a piece of Italy.
Eutelsat Communications (Euronext Paris: ETL, ISIN code: FR0010221234)
is the holding company of Eutelsat S.A. With capacity commercialised on 27
satellites that provide coverage over the entire European continent, as well
as the Middle East, Africa, India and significant parts of Asia and the
Americas, Eutelsat is one of the world's three leading satellite operators
in terms of revenues. At March 31, 2011, Eutelsat's satellites were
broadcasting more than 3,800 television channels to over 200 million cable
and satellite homes in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The Group's
satellites also serve a wide range of fixed and mobile telecommunications
services, TV contribution markets, corporate networks, and broadband markets
for Internet Service Providers and for transport, maritime and in-flight
markets. Eutelsat's broadband subsidiary, Skylogic, markets and operates
access to high speed Internet services through teleports in France and Italy
that serve enterprises, local communities, government agencies and aid
organisations in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas. Headquartered in
Paris, Eutelsat and its subsidiaries employ 700 commercial, technical and
operational employees from 28 countries.

comScore Introduces Digital Analytix(TM) in Latin America, Providing an Evolution in Web Analytics to the Market
Highly Flexible Solution Frees Marketers to Get the Insights they Need and Provides a More Unified View of Digital Consumer Behavior
SANTIAGO, Chile, July 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- comScore, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCOR), a leader in measuring the digital world, today introduced comScore Digital Analytix(TM) in Latin America, providing an evolutionary solution in web analytics that enables digital marketers and analytics professionals to conduct in-depth forensic research on site-level activity through this highly agile and flexible data analysis architecture. Powered by the proprietary comScore Atomix(TM) technology, Digital Analytix utilizes unaggregated data that gives users the ability to run the reports they want, to deliver the insights they need.
"We are very excited to bring comScore Digital Analytix to markets in Latin America," said Alejandro Fosk, comScore senior vice president of Latin America. "comScore Digital Analytix is the evolution of the Certifica Metric solution, which has been a leading web analytics provider in Latin America for 12 years. The next generation of this service will provide clients with further granularity and flexibility, allowing for more robust and insightful web analysis. Digital Analytix will enable clients to unlock their data, understand their audience, and deliver new insights faster and easier than ever before."
comScore Digital Analytix offers the following benefits:
-- Flexible reporting architecture
-- Fast reporting and granular insights
-- Easy to implement (especially for publishers, who can leverage their
existing Media Metrix UDM tag for Digital Analytix reporting)
-- Campaign-level insights
-- Cross-platform measurement
-- Sleek, new, user-friendly interface
The Evolution of Web Analytics into a More Unified and Accurate View of Behavior
comScore is bringing its unique expertise in audience measurement to the web analytics universe in developing a breakthrough technology that combines deep analytics insight with audience profiling. This advancement will enable digital marketers to map the behaviors occurring across their sites to the audience demographics of the people engaging in these activities. This link will enhance publishers' abilities to tie higher level marketing strategies to actual conversion, providing a truly unified view of digital consumer behavior.
In conjunction with the Digital Analytix launch, comScore is also introducing the "unique browser" metric. Historically, web analytics tools have used the terminology of "unique visitors" to describe a metric that really measures "unique cookies." In web analytics, the metric uses the observance of a new cookie to register a "unique visitor," whereas for audience measurement the metric is based on unique people. comScore research has consistently illustrated that cookie-based counting methods often show a "unique visitor" count as high as 2.5x that of measures that count unique people on the same set of machines. This is due to effects such as cookie deletion and the use of multiple browsers and devices by the same person to access the same site. Digital Analytix is the first web analytics platform adopting the "unique browser" nomenclature for web analytics. In addition to supporting industry initiatives, this change will help digital measurement professionals avoid having to explain the difference between diverging metrics historically both known as the "unique visitor."
Clients Voice Support
The following Certifica Metric clients, who are migrating to the new Digital Analytix platform, voiced their support for the evolutionary product:
"As a Certifica Metric client for the past 3 years, web analysis has been a key component in building and evaluating our online strategy. We look forward to utilizing this improved solution in order to further analyze and optimize the online experience for our customers," - Patricio Villalobos, CTO of Grupo Expansion.
"The launch of comScore Digital Analytix marks an important step in the evolution of web analytics here in Latin America," said Omar Robles, Product Manager of CMD-Grupo Clarin. "With access to detailed audience data and further insights into consumer usage we can successfully build efficient content creation and monetization strategies."
"Mexico's digital market is rapidly growing making web audience insights even more crucial to building successful digital strategies," said Fernando Campos, TV Azteca Digital Director. "We welcome comScore's introduction of Digital Analytix here in Mexico and look forward to their continued innovations in audience measurement."
Live Webinar on July 13
