Snatch. I'm guessing from the poster it's a boxing movie. Statham have a major role in it as a fighter, or just a small part?
try quesing from the name Snatch that it is infact a heist movie. It does have boxing to a large part, but not at all a "boxing movie". Statham is the main character and the fact that you are asking about it means you gotta see this movie, its insane

Main character? Cool. Snatch is on my radar, I will check it out. Thanks!

The palestinians are revolting, how is that news?

Boy I tell you folks, I don't get no respect. But seriously, this is good news, maybe they'll elect someone who will take a more serious stance on Zionism. Hamas going down in flames is always good news though.

When I first read the headline I thought "what the hell, is the earth-centric model of the universe coming back into fashion? Has Bush really lowered us so?" but this makes sense. Eventually probes and ships will use shitloads of stars for navigation but for now pulsars make sense.

From Thread: Energy = End of conflict? Old Mon Sep 4, 2006 8:08:35 PM
There was an article in Scientific American a couple months back about new solar cells using titanium nanotubes to separate hydrogen from water. By adding carbon fibers, a new team was approching viable efficiencies, but then there's the matter of mass producing the technology. In the long term these technologies are far better for s than anything we have now. I think the rising cost of oil can certainly be a good thing, as it increases funding, and improves the economic viability of more eco-friendly technologies. Maybe in 10 years we'll actually be able to buy the E85 ethanol that the new "flex-fuel" cars are now tuned to run on. Bio-Diesel is also another great alternative to petroleum. Waste vegetable oil is cheap, and readily available, and with a little methanol and some simple chemistry it will burn in a standard diesel engine (which continue to improve in efficiency and reliability). Lots of areas are talking about adding wind power, but this one has the conservationists fighting the environmentalists. This isn't going to change anytime soon unless aliens show up and give us the secret of antimatter or something. It's going to be a slow process. Hopefully we turn the corner before we've done irreversible harm to our own environment.

I can't really say, because as I mentioned I haven't really read it in ages. However, when I read it the anime in it hadn't made it to American shores yet, so they were considered 'new' here. Although, if you download subtitled episodes or similar, than they usually will be behind.

If I had to guess, since it's a Japanese magazine that's translated, it probably needs to wait for it to be published in Japan before they translate it and then, after all that, ship it over, which probably gives it some lag. But then, I can't say for sure

From Thread: American or Japanese Superheroes Old Sun Sep 3, 2006 10:00:53 PM

Said By ArtemisPanthar

The Hulk is a 'bigass man' yes, but Bruce Banner is not. So, that might not be the best example due to the fact that there is a lot more involved.

You can't really polarize it like that. Each is influenced by it's respective cultures, yes, so you'll find more than one in the other. I could be wrong but your tone rather trivializes American superheros which isn't really fair, since you can't ever take things per face value. Otherwise it'd be:

(American superheros|Japanese superheros)
Bigass men beating the hell out of everyone|Effeminate men casting magic and yelling random words

I dunno. Maybe I'm oversensitive and you didn't mean it the way it came out. It's just that a lot of Anime fans tend to bang on American animation (the reverse is true as well) and that has always bothered me because people arguing for either side trivializes the opposition to create and easily 'defeated' strawman.

Well that was mostly wut i was trying to go for, that you really cant compare the two, cuz they come from two tottaly seperate cultures. I wasnt trying to critize one or the other, just saying that i dont think you can, nor is it far to compare them.

Inuyasha not what it was,not as exciting as it use to be.Maybe because the plot is pretty much the same and there is no new flare to it to keep me excited.Although i did liked it when the band of seven was in it.I just got done wrapping up this long series today,i was really disappointed that it ended the way it did, considering i've been devoting myself to it since i was 14 and now i'm 18(damn i'm getting old). The movies was oK.

Said By Pancakes

I guess so, especially when the only arguments made are "U SUPPOR GEN000C11D3 HIPPIE!!!11OENONEBUSH4YLFFEE".

But honestly, were you really trying to change my opinion? Because attacking me was not the way to do it. If anything that only drives some one to dig their heels in deeper. Furthermore, we definately have a difference in political and social backgrounds so I think that would have something to do with our different views on this. That shouldn't mean that we shouldn't be able to discuss our views. However, just between you and me, there hasn't been too much of a discussion. We were leaning toward one toward the end there and then... nothing.

EDIT: Also, I never made 'light' of the genocide that occured to the Jewish people. I said that giving them a country was not a way to right that wrong, especially doing it the way they did. And as for the Kurds, like I have stated and is shown in that CNN article you generously provided, after Saddam lost control of Northern Iraq they had it a lot better than most people living in Iraq. But like I said, Iraq and Israel don't have anything to do with each other but I have a feeling if we were to discuss this war there would be a similar outcome. Doesn't mean I'm not willing, I'm just putting it out there. You can decide.

Oh well. Bigons?

Insulting people makes them dig their heels in, and usually gets them at their nastiest.

Again, from wikipedia:

"The first historical record of the word "Israel" comes from an Egyptian stele documenting military campaigns in Canaan. Although this stele which referred to a people (the determinative for 'country' was absent) is dated to approximately 1211 BCE, [4] Jewish tradition holds that the Land of Israel has been a Jewish Holy Land and Promised land for 3,000 years. The land of Israel holds a special place in Jewish religious obligations, encompassing Judaism's most important sites — including the remains of the First and Second Temples of the Jewish King, Solomon. Connected with these two versions of the temple are religiously significant rites which stand as the origin for many aspects of modern Judaism. [5] Starting around the 11th century BCE the first of a series of Jewish kingdoms and states established intermittent rule over the region that lasted more than a millennium.

Under Assyrian, Babylonian, Persian, Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and (briefly) Sassanian rule, Jewish presence in the region dwindled because of mass expulsions. In particular, the failure of the Bar Kochba Revolt against the Roman Empire in 132 CE resulted in a large-scale expulsion of Jews. It was during this time that the Romans gave the name Syria Palaestina to the geographic area, in an attempt to erase Jewish ties to the land.[6] The Mishnah and Jerusalem Talmud, two of Judaism's most important religious texts, were composed in the region during this period. The Muslims conquered the land from the Byzantine Empire in 638 CE. The area was ruled by various Muslim states (interrupted by the rule of the Crusaders) before becoming part of the Ottoman Empire in 1517."

On Iraq: Yeah, as of late the Kurds were doing semi-ok all things considered. They're worse off now because of all the in-fighting that's going on in Iraq. All the various factions that hate each other because of ethnic or religious differences are really going at it right now, something that didn't happen under Saddam because of the brutal regime he had. One can't help but think, maybe that's how things have to be in order to keep the peace in Iraq? Maybe it's like the Aztecs, they ruled through fear as well. Whether or not his actions were justified (and I'm sorry, I can't believe all the brutality was needed. Rape rooms? Really? why not just Rape Tents?) they were diplorable. I personally think there's other places we could have liberated that would have been much wiser to go to. Sudan for one.

Really, where would Israel be if not for the land where they were before? At any rate, what does bitching and moaning do about the past? If I get food sickness from eating poorly prepared food, what good does it do to dwell on it and just moan and complain "Oh man I really shouldn't have eaten that food I wish the people who liberated me had given me better prepared food!"? Seems to me I should probably see a doctor or take some pepto bismol.

Palestine, Hezzbolah, et al are of the attitude "If life gives you lemons, thow those lemons at the person who gave them to you until they give you an orange like you asked for in the first place!" I just think maybe they should try being moderate and having some lemonade. It's fucking hot in the desert and lemonade is delicious after all.

Said By Nihilistic Mystic

I really hope they don't do a "World of Starcraft" game, but with World of Warcraft subscripitons still rising and approaching 7 million you could see why they might want to. Then again, they aleady have over 50% of the MMORPG market share, would they really want to lay out all then money to setup another one just to compete with themselves? I think they would be best off making kick ass RTS games and just continue to add content and upgrade to WoW.
[/QUOTE]
Yeah, all a WoS game would do is take away from WoW, unsecessfuly. ppl who play WoW wont switch that easily and blizz knows they would just be wasting time and money on another MMO, but a nasty RTS, that may be where its at
