Smart Antenna from Hirschmann Car Communication Reduces Complexity of Vehicle Electronics
Transceiver, tuner and antenna combined in a single unit
Multiple radio services available centrally
HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., Feb. 17, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- VOXX International Corporation (NASDAQ: VOXX), today announced the availability of a smart antenna from its wholly-owned subsidiary, Hirschmann Car Communication GmbH, which offers technology that intelligently combines a transceiver, tuner and antenna in a single unit. The smart antenna fulfills the requirements of new system architectures, linking a range of services including radio, GPS, mobile communication, eCall, TV and Car-to-X in one central point, outside of the head unit.
"Our smart antenna offers automotive manufacturers an effective, basic technological structure that allows new standards, architectures and customer requirements for infotainment and communication services to be integrated in vehicles quickly, flexibly and in a scalable manner," said Ludwig Geis, CEO of Hirschmann Car Communication GmbH. "It reduces complexity instead of increasing it. We have already conducted an extensive test program with a well-known automotive manufacturer, in which all of the customer requirements were successfully implemented."
Transceiver, tuner and antenna combined
The smart antenna consists of a standard roof antenna and a control device, which contains the tuner and the transceiver and is responsible for demodulating and decoding from various radio services. The design reduces the in-car distances traveled by the analogue HF signals between the antenna and the receiver, which improves the signal quality for passengers making telephone calls, listening to the radio, using the navigation function or watching television. The direct signal processing and position on the vehicle roof are also ideal for receiving GHz signals for WLAN and Bluetooth connections, for example in Car-to-X communication. In addition, the bundling of functions at a central point does away with the need for coaxial cables and unnecessary interfaces in the car. If it is not possible for the control device and antenna to both be mounted on the roof in the same place (e.g. as is the case on convertibles), the components can be decoupled and positioned at different points.
Transfer of services from the head unit
The smart antenna also performs the functions that were previously integrated in the head unit. Updating the radio standard no longer requires the entire head unit to be replaced. Thanks to its scalability, the smart antenna can be connected to a range of head unit variants. Furthermore, fewer country-specific head unit variants are required, which significantly reduces development costs.
The smart antenna is controlled from the head unit and connected using only a digital bus system such as MOST or Ethernet. A direct connection can be established to smartphones and tablets via the WLAN and Bluetooth function.
Technical features of the smart antenna include:
-- Mobile communication: 2G, 3G, 4G
-- Emergency call functions with integrated battery concept: eCall and
ERA-GLONASS
-- Location data: GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou
-- Radio and TV: AM/FM, DAB/DAB+, HD/SiriusXM, DVB-T/-T2, ISDB-T
-- Bluetooth and Bluetooth Low Energy
-- WLAN hotspot
-- Car-to-X communication as per 802.11p
-- Automotive bus systems: MOST, Ethernet, CAN https://photos.prnewswire.com/prnvar/20160217/334085

Enterprise IT Professionals Must Become Digital Business Leaders
Leading Edge Forum (LEF) and Business Relationship Management Institute (BRMI) have announced a new paper and framework for turning Enterprise IT professionals into Digital Business leaders.
LONDON, February 17, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
The presence of technology innovation outside the walls of the firm is becoming
increasingly common. LEF has identified the top 100 current and emerging technologies in
areas such as cloud, SaaS, e-commerce, machine intelligence, and the internet of things.
Leveraging these capabilities requires IT professionals to think from the outside-in.
"But Enterprise IT has always been among the most inside-out parts of the firm, as IT
professionals have needed to sustain a strong heads-down focus on complex internal systems,
applications, and processes. Making the transition from inside-out to outside-in is among
the most important challenges facing Enterprise IT today," said David Moschella, lead
paper author and LEF research director.
In recent years, many firms have appointed Business Relationship Managers (BRMs) to
help Enterprise IT partner more effectively with their overall organization.
"Unfortunately, the effectiveness of these BRMs has often been undermined by a deeply
entrenched us versus them IT Services mindset," said BRMI co-founder Aleksandr Zhuk.
To improve this situation, in recent years the LEF and BRMI have sought to raise the
game of the BRM function through a series of training programmes, accreditation, and
experience-based development workshops. Looking ahead, however, this type of internal
partnering-while still essential-is no longer sufficient. "Information Technology now
touches upon just about every aspect of the modern organization, and this expanding
digital mission is creating opportunities for BRMs to become true Digital Business Leaders
(DBL)," explained Moschella.
By developing and mobilizing an elite cadre of DBLs, IT organizations can establish
and lead a community (ideally, a critical mass) of like-minded digital enthusiasts across
the firm. To stave off born digital rivals, every organization needs a place for
technology vision, innovation, experimentation, and learning. "Enterprise IT should be at
the centre of these efforts," added Zhuk.
The differences between traditional BRM and emerging DBL are contrasted further in the
figure illustrated.
Of course, no one can say how technology will evolve over the coming years, but for
those Enterprise IT professionals who can grow from Business Relationship Managers into
true Digital Business Leaders, the possibilities have never been greater. We are still in
the early stages of the advanced technology revolution, but this is where the next
generation of business leaders will first emerge.

Avast Virtual Mobile Platform Brings Mobile Enterprise Security to a New Frontier
Powerful platform focuses on securing data, not devices; delivers security-enabled productivity by protecting company data and workers' personal privacy
SAN MATEO, Calif., Feb. 17, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Avast Software, maker of the world's most trusted mobile security software, today launched the Avast Virtual Mobile Platform (VMP). The platform is built on top of the iron-clad Virtual Mobile Platform of award-winning mobile enterprise security provider Remotium, which was recently acquired by Avast. Designed specifically to meet the mobile solution needs of modern enterprises, Avast VMP takes a fundamentally different approach from EMM (enterprise mobility management) solutions available today, focusing on securing data rather than devices.
Through ephemeral sessions in which no data footprint is left behind on the device, Avast VMP prevents datajacking, which is the unsanctioned appropriation of data on a mobile handset or computer from the data's primary owner. The platform delivers reliability and confidence that company information and data remain secure, and that workers' personal privacy is respected. It includes powerful features that enable users to make and receive encrypted calls to each other and send instant messages without leaving a trace on devices. It also includes a comprehensive policy engine for greater security, flexibility and control over apps, data and users.
A recent Avast survey* on the impact of BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) on enterprise security of more than 100 IT professionals, including senior IT executives and managers in security roles, revealed that increased productivity is the main goal of most enterprise mobility programs. They also reported that datajacking is the greatest security challenge they are facing today. The following are some of the survey highlights:
-- Nearly 80% of companies enable employees to access corporate mobile apps
on their own devices
-- 76% of BYOD or enterprise mobility programs' main objective is increased
productivity, followed by improved customer service (54%) and increased
revenue (45%)
-- 72% cite datajacking as the greatest security challenge related to
enterprise mobility, followed by malware (67%) and employee compliance
(58%)
-- Nearly 50% of the businesses provide contractors or other third parties
with mobile access to their networks
-- The top three concerns when considering enterprise mobility solutions
are employee privacy (55%), ease of deployment/management (53%) and
compliance (52%)
"With the use of personal mobile devices now entrenched in the workplace, the Avast Virtual Mobile Platform meets the need for a powerful enterprise-grade mobile security technology that helps workers, IT and business units achieve their productivity goals," said Sinan Eren, Vice President and General Manager, Avast Mobile Enterprise. "Our leading-edge enterprise mobile technology ensures procedure, policy and bureaucracy don't get in the way of business productivity and performance."
Avast VMP users in highly regulated industries such as healthcare, financial services, and legal will also benefit greatly from these new features as they enable ultimate security of user-to-user communication. For healthcare, Avast VMP provides instant compliance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations and enables doctors to send photos and view medical images without leaving a trace on personal devices. For legal and financial services, users can discuss high-value, confidential transactions without risking information exposure.
"Different spins on Virtual Mobile Infrastructure have emerged over the past few years specifically because of the challenge mobile poses to the shifting of content, applications, data and workflows to smartphones and tablets for which traditional security, productivity and governance schema no longer apply," said Chris Marsh, Research Director, 451 Research. "Avast's platform goes further than some by being HIPAA compliant, enabling encrypted calls and IM, along with applications like SharePoint already configured for the platform. As one virtualized infrastructure, it should appeal to businesses struggling with the idea of multiple mobility management technologies and the integration they'd have to do across them."
Avast Virtual Mobile Platform features include:
-- SecurePhone: Enables Avast VMP users to make and receive encrypted calls
to each other
-- SecureIM: Completes the communications suite with Avast VMP user-to-user
instant messaging
-- Policy Engine: Delivers the most IT-friendly app and access policy
console to enforce business policies, and to control networks,
geolocation, app permissions and more
-- VMP-ready Apps: In addition to its current support of any third-party
apps, Avast VMP offers popular enterprise mobile apps, like Microsoft
SharePoint, pre-configured and ready to go on day one
About Avast VMP
Avast's award-winning solution solves the challenges of delivering corporate applications to employees' mobile devices by creating a smooth user experience, while ensuring data security and compliance. This patent-pending technology allows users to work from anywhere - in the office, remotely from their home office or while on business trips. Users can connect to their VMP from any device they are using - smartphones, tablets, and desktops - in order to get access to their corporate tools, apps and data.

- Scalable VLIW/SIMD architecture supports both fixed- and floating-point operations to deliver unmatched performance and power efficiency
- Brings an innovative holistic approach to modem architecture, orchestrating DSPs, coprocessors, hardware accelerators, memories and system interfaces
- CEVA-X4 announced as first member of The NEW CEVA-X family - multi-RAT multi-carrier PHY control processor targeting 2G/3G/4G/5G modems
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Feb. 17, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --CEVA, Inc. (NASDAQ: CEVA), the leading licensor of signal processing IP for smarter, connected devices, today introduced The NEW CEVA-X architecture framework, redefining performance and power efficiency for the processing of the control and data planes in baseband applications. Building on the strong heritage of CEVA DSPs in baseband, which have powered more than 6 billion handset processors to date, The NEW CEVA-X addresses the increasing complexity of baseband designs in a wide range of applications and use cases, including LTE-Advanced PHY control, Machine-Type-Communication (MTC) and wireless connectivity.
Featuring a scalable VLIW/SIMD architecture, up to 128-bit SIMD, a variable length pipeline and support for both fixed- and floating-point operations, The NEW CEVA-X delivers 2X more DSP horsepower while consuming 50% less power than the previous generation CEVA-X. The architecture also includes a dedicated 32-bit zero-latency Instruction Set Architecture (ISA), 32-bit hardware division and multiplication, dynamic branch prediction and ultra-fast context switching for the efficient Control processing required in modern baseband designs.
CEVA-X4 - Multi-RAT PHY Control Processor
The CEVA-X4 is the first core based on The NEW CEVA-X architecture, targeting the most complex workloads of multi-RAT multi-carrier PHY control processing in 2G/3G/4G/5G basebands.
Mike Demler, senior analyst, The Linley Group, commented: "As the industry adopts LTE Advanced Pro and the promise of 1Gbps cellular download speeds, existing modem architectures will require a comprehensive overhaul to meet the increasingly stringent performance and power constraints. CEVA is addressing this need with a new baseband processor architecture, which effectively combines its high-performance DSPs with real-time control capabilities to handle the complete baseband system. Furthermore, with advanced features such as the capacity to process up to five carrier components in parallel, the CEVA-X4 provides its customers with a roadmap towards 5G."
The CEVA-X4 was specifically designed to solve the three most critical challenges in next generation modem designs:
-- Efficient control processing: for multi-carrier aggregation there is a
significant increase in L1 PHY control processing. For example,
next-generation Rel-13 LTE Advanced Pro modems are required to deal with
up to 5 carrier components in parallel and handle multiple PHY control
tasks on multiple carriers, in tandem.
-- Powerful DSP processing: a considerable boost in DSP performance is
required to support a heavy LTE workload including per-channel
measurement, calibration and decoding, as well as legacy RAT.
-- Advanced system control: complex system scheduling and data traffic
management is essential to deal with the many accelerators, DSPs and
coprocessors in the system, within a low latency constraint.
To overcome these challenges, the CEVA-X4 incorporates a unique set of baseband-optimized features and functions in a highly efficient manner. This 128-bit wide VLIW/SIMD processor features 8 MAC units in 4 identical Scalar Processing Units (SPUs) and a 10-stage pipeline, capable of running at 1.5GHz in 16nm and achieves 16 Giga Operations Per Second (GOPS). The processor's efficient control features include an integer pipeline, a complete 32-bit RISC ISA including hardware division and multiplication, and a Branch Target Buffer (BTB), achieving CoreMark / MHz score of 4.0, 60% better (per thread) compared to the most established in-house DSP used in smartphones today.
For system control, the CEVA-X4 brings a holistic approach to modem design, utilizing the innovative CEVA-Connect(TM) technology to orchestrate the entire PHY system, comprising of DSPs, coprocessors, accelerators, memories and system interfaces. It is equipped with dedicated hardware coprocessor interfaces and an automated data and control traffic management mechanism that eliminates any software intervention. Its memory subsystem supports an advanced non-blocking 2-way or 4-way caches with hardware and software pre-fetch capabilities.
Michael Boukaya, vice president and general manager, Wireless Business Unit at CEVA, commented: "The enormous complexity involved with building a modern baseband requires a new approach to solving the mounting design bottlenecks. The CEVA-X4 offers licensees the capability to develop a vastly simplified multi-mode modem system architecture with a perfect balance of DSP and control processing. Its monumental improvements over previous generation PHY control DSPs are indicative of the deep baseband expertise we accumulated over two decades in that industry, and ensure that the CEVA-X4 exceeds the most demanding requirements for next-generation 4G and 5G standards."

THALWIL, Switzerland, February 17, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
u-blox (SIX:UBXN), a global leader in wireless and positioning modules and chips,
announces the release of NEO-M8U, the industry's first Untethered 3D Dead Reckoning (UDR)
module. Combining multi-GNSS (GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo) with an onboard 3D
gyro/accelerometer, NEO-M8U provides accurate positioning even where GNSS signals are weak
or not available. Â It achieves this without any connection to the vehicle other than
power.
The u-blox NEO-M8U module provides superior multipath suppression, which improves
position accuracy even in tough environments, such as urban canyons, tunnels, or parking
garages. For example, in London's city center area, NEO-M8U is typically three times more
accurate than a traditional GNSS receiver. In addition, NEO-M8U offers instantaneous
position immediately after power-up, without the need to wait for a first fix as with
regular GNSS receivers.
One of the key advantages of NEO-M8U is the ease of product development and
installation. NEO-M8U looks and behaves just like a regular GNSS receiver and does not
require any special mounting or connection to the vehicle. Thanks to its intelligent
sensing and continuous self-calibration, NEO-M8U can be installed in the vehicle in any
orientation.
Other features are its real-time update rate of up to 20 Hz benefiting a smooth
navigation behavior, as well as the high-speed access to the raw sensor data allowing for
driving behavior analysis and detection of sudden acceleration, such as during an
accident.
"NEO-M8U, with its performance and simplicity, is a game changer for a range of new
use cases such as navigation, fleet management, road pricing, usage-based insurance and
even 'find-my-car' applications," says Andrew Miles, Product Manager, Dead Reckoning at
u-blox. "The gain in accuracy by NEO-M8U in three dimensions will enhance any vehicle
based application in cities with high-rise buildings and narrow streets."
NEO-M8U will be available in early Q2, 2016. Â It can upgrade any existing NEO design
due to the inherent pin and software compatibility to other NEO modules.

"Zombie Pandemic" War Game "UNDEAD FACTORY" Now Available on iOS & Android
TOKYO, Feb. 17, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- BTD STUDIO Co., Ltd., a Japanese mobile application developer based in Tokyo, released "UNDEAD FACTORY - Zombie Pandemic - ," the first title from its new label "PUNCH GAMES," on February 16 at Google Play (TM) and App Store (TM) in 155 countries on the globe. PUNCH GAMES, as the name suggests, is the new label with the concept "to create punchy games."
UNDEAD FACTORY is a real-time war game on zombie pandemic, an explosive expansion of zombie infection. We not only pursued how to shoot down "zombies," the increasingly popular superstar of an impregnable position for events and Halloween these days, but also investigated how to build a game around them for the maximum enjoyment. Players are to develop their own colonies (their defense bases and resource production sites) and produce diverse types of zombies to seize resources from the colonies of the opponent. The graphical representation of producing numerous zombies and sending them into the opponent's field is just overwhelming, as if in a high-budgeted disaster film.
98% of users say it is fun!
In a questionnaire (Android only) carried out for 10 days between January 15 and 25 preceding the official release, 98% of the 500 participants who answered the questionnaire indicated it was fun and 99% said they would play the final version, while several responded with complaints such as program bugs.
The brand-new "zombie-infection system" is super exciting! Players can turn survivors in the opponent's field into zombies by the "infection system." The strategic use of zombie pandemic can lead to "turning around" the battle at the very end.

With momentum gathering behind network function virtualisation (NFV), CSPs are also
keen to ensure that associated solutions in their operational, test and R&D environments
follow pace. The new, virtualised Solver delivers on this vision and will help CSPs meet
CAPEX goals while leveraging a common IT infrastructure.
Solver [http://www.polystar.com/products/solver ] is a high-performance load
generation, stress and feature testing solution for LTE and VoLTE services, as well as
legacy and NGN fixed and mobile networks. Solver can be deployed both as a virtual and a
physical device, making it possible to operate in existing IT infrastructure, side by side
with NFV deployments of the mobile core network. This means that CSPs can maximise their
return on existing and new infrastructure investments, and simplify maintenance.
The virtualised Solver is delivered as software, dramatically reducing delivery times
to CSPs. This also allows remote installation to be facilitated for system extension. For
example, if more capacity is required, it can simply be enabled by extending user
licenses. Systems based on legacy or proprietary hardware cannot be extended in this
manner.
"The virtualised Solver gives us unparalleled flexibility to meet different
requirements from our customers", commented Peter Heikenborn, VP, T&M Business Unit in
Polystar. "It can scale to meet the needs of the smallest CSP or those of the largest R&D
labs and live networks. With CSPs increasingly deploying VoLTE and moving to NFV
architecture, Solver provides the ideal solution to support network and service
evolution."
A key advantage of Solver is the combination of LTE and legacy network technologies,
such as 2G, 2,5G and 3G, into a single solution. It enables single and mass call sessions
to be established from any network domain to any other. Solver gives CSPs access to a
simple, user-friendly tool that provides the versatility required for a multitude of tasks,
increasing return on investment.
Solver significantly reduces troubleshooting effort and the time required to complete
LTE deployments. It supports full interoperability testing between different domains. In
addition, it enables end-to-end testing and troubleshooting of VoLTE and SRVCC services.
In live networks, Solver enables troubleshooting, ensuring consistent customer
experience and service performance. It can also verify billing solutions by generating and
checking CDRs. Solver can also perform quality and performance testing on media and voice
streams. It generates voice and video sessions, which can be sent according to customised
traffic patterns. The results can be analysed in order to determine and benchmark quality.
Solver helps CSPs and Network Equipment Manufacturers throughout product life cycles,
ensuring consistent quality and compliance with protocols and interfaces from legacy and
NGN networks. Powerful, flexible and scalable, the award-winning Solver is the ideal
solution for testing mobile networks and VoLTE services.
Meet Polystar at MWC 2016 to learn how to capitalise on the new, virtualised Solver to
support VoLTE service deployment.

Cadence OrCAD Capture Delivers Support of Intel Schematic Connectivity Format for Automated Design Reviews
SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CDNS) today announced that OrCAD® Capture now provides export capability for Intel Schematic Connectivity Format (ISCF), targeted at automating Intel-based design reviews. ISCF was developed by Intel to streamline the collaboration process with its customers. Intel worked with Cadence to develop a direct ISCF generation capability in OrCAD Capture to make this collaboration process simpler and more efficient. Customers requiring a review with Intel's Customer Solutions Team in its Sales and Marketing Group (SMG) can now exchange design data in an Intel-approved format, optimizing the design review process.
By enabling the user to directly export hierarchical schematic designs in ISCF, OrCAD Capture improves upon the traditional method, which required Intel engineers to manually migrate the schematics. Customers can benefit from having their designs reviewed against specific guidelines early in the design cycle. They can then address issues sooner in the process, improving time to market.
"We review many schematics in OrCAD Capture/CIS format," said Rui Wang, vice president and general manager of the Technical Enablement Group in Intel's Sales and Marketing Group. "We expect this export capability from Cadence tools will significantly improve our efficiency and our customers' time to market."
"By integrating OrCAD Capture with ISCF, we are able to enable designers of IoT, wearable and mobile applications to receive faster Intel design reviews, reducing risk and cost and speeding time to market," said Steve Durrill, senior product engineering group director of the PCB Group at Cadence. "Many of Intel's growing customer base are already using our tools, and they can now leverage ISCF export to streamline their process of bringing innovative products to market."

Mentor Graphics Announces Open Manufacturing Language, an Open Internet of Manufacturing Standard for PCB Assembly
WILSONVILLE, Ore., Feb. 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Mentor Graphics Corporation (NASDAQ: MENT) today announced the launch of the Open Manufacturing Language (OML) initiative that directly addresses the longstanding need and urgent calls from the industry for a printed circuit board (PCB) assembly-specific Internet of Manufacturing solution. For the first time, IT teams, solution providers, and equipment providers can easily integrate shop-floor data to create or enhance added-value manufacturing execution solutions based on a single, normalized, vendor-neutral communication interface. This minimizes development and support effort while ensuring optimum data accuracy, timeliness and completeness.
Use of the OML standard supports numerous industry needs and challenges including the practical realization of the Internet of Manufacturing, Industry 4.0 and Smart Factory 1.0 concepts, as well as the automated collection of full traceability data including routing and compliance enforcement.
"The OML standard is a key technology and contributor for the Internet of Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 in PCB assembly. It's our pleasure to work with the OML community," stated Jordan Jiang, President / GM of iEi Integration Corp. "iEi looks forward to involvement with OML to assist with utilization through the offering of quality design and manufacture services. We are excited about seeing OML launched and are looking forward to the business opportunities and benefits that it will undoubtedly bring to the whole industry."
OML creates an operational hierarchy through which neutralized information is exchanged between manufacturing processes. This includes detail of any shop-floor event in the areas of process performance, materials setup and consumption, traceability, process results and parameters, process control (poka-yoke), and quality information from test, inspection and repair processes, both automated and manual. OML resolves numerous issues in automated and manual processes that previous formats could not address.
The OML standard, introduced by Mentor Graphics, is based on more than 15 years of experience in the development of shop-floor interfaces. The standard will be available through an open community on http://www.OMLcommunity.com. The community will provide support and management of new revisions.
"We are very excited to be among the first members of the OML community," stated Ian Ticehurst, Senior Corporate MIS Manager, Hana Microelectronics Public Co., Ltd. "This initiative is perfectly timed to enable our IT team to put their latest ideas into practice following the principles and potential of the Internet of Manufacturing with a fraction of the effort, cost and lead-time originally required."
"For some time now we have seen and heard the demand for a comprehensive shop-floor communication standard that is detailed enough to support the next generation of computerization such as Industry 4.0 solutions," stated Dan Hoz, General Manager of Mentor Graphics Valor Division. "With this initiative, Valor contributes the first step and sets the pace for the revolution in manufacturing for PCB assembly."

Kii and Haltian join forces to add peace of mind for families by bringing extra security and functionality for child safety
SAN MATEO, Calif., and OULU, Finland, Feb. 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Kii, the leading Internet of Things (IoT) cloud platform provider, and Haltian, a high technology electronics design and production house, today announced a new portable tracker and communication device called "Snowfox." This next generation tracking solution consists of a durable and portable device with voice calling, GPS tracking and an app - all backed by Kii's IoT platform. This collaboration between Kii and Haltian delivers a solution to help address the highest priority for any parent - their child's safety.
Today there are several kid trackers in the market, but with Snowfox, which has an embedded SIM card and is ready out of the box, key differentiators that make it stand apart include:
1. Powerful two-way calling feature, including a simple button that can work
as a panic button or a simple check-in button
2. Reliability - with its accurate GPS tracking
3. Rugged all-weatherproof design that is impact-resistant
4. Multiple geo-fencing zone capabilities that allows a parent to see the
tracker's most recent location, create no-go zones and get notifications
when a tracker reaches or leaves a specific place
5. Simple design - both in the device (for kids) and in the app (for
parents) - makes the solution very easy to use and adaptable
6. Cool, attractive-looking and colorful designs that can be easily attached
to a zipper or jacket or onto a child's backpack/bag
"As a spin-off from Nokia, our top notch engineers are the best in the world and are able to create such an easy to use and reliable wireless tracking device as Snowfox," says Pasi Leipälä, Haltian's CEO. "This product gives parents added peace of mind by enabling a 'connected circle of care' between loved ones."
"Successful IoT device adoption depends on seamless integration of different parts of the solution - the device, the back end, the app, connectivity - and with Snowfox, Kii and Haltian have achieved just that, which is why we are thrilled with this collaboration," said Masanari Arai, CEO of Kii. "With the combination of Haltian's hardware and software design and Kii's highly scaled back end solution, we see Snowfox as a 'best-of-breed' in kids tracking today."
Snowfox will be presented in the Haltian booth (Hall 5 Stand 5C43) at Mobile World Congress, Barcelona on 22-25 February 2016. The devices will be commercially available in Q2 2016 in selected markets. More information about the product and its availability can be found at http://www.snowfox.family
University usability laboratories in Oulu in Finland, where Haltian is based and where the devices are manufactured, have also been testing Snowfox devices. A quotation from the University study: "My five-year old daughter took great pride in owning a Snowfox device. She always remembered to take the device with her when changing jackets. She also felt safe knowing she could always reach mom when outside of the home."

Visioneer Launches 'Intelligent Capture Services' Program to Speed Smooth Transition to Paperless Workflow
PLEASANTON, Calif., Feb. 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Citing the need of businesses to improve their workflow and maximize the benefits of paperless office procedures, Visioneer is introducing a new customer service program to help organizations make a smooth, rapid transition to high-volume document scanning.
Called Intelligent Capture Services (ICS), the new training and office productivity program will provide the greatest benefit to firms that need to do their scanning in-house including law firms, health care organizations, governmental agencies, financial services organizations, transportation and logistics firms and universities. The innovative service was designed by Visioneer, a pioneer in the scanning industry since 1992 and a leading provider of business scanning solutions.
"Optimizing workflow is how companies get the most value from an in-house scanning solution," said Jim Tamo, senior vice president, Global Sales and Marketing for Visioneer. "Through the years, we've acquired enormous hands-on experience helping companies get up to speed on scanning. We've distilled and formalized our experience into Intelligent Capture Services, a program that almost any firm will find worthwhile."
Visioneer Intelligent Capture Services will be provided to customers through channel partners, including office products and technology resellers, and will be offered at a predictable price.
"There are many organizations that, for cost, logistical reasons or privacy concerns, can't outsource their scanning," said Tamo. "For these firms, creating an efficient in-house scanning and workflow process is key to their long-term success and satisfaction with any scanning solution. Intelligent Capture Services is going to help these companies get up to speed quickly, avoid pitfalls and improve compliance across their organization."
"Customers don't want to physically store, or have to move documents around--they want them digitized," said David Roffey, national sales engineer and technical lead for Visioneer's Intelligent Capture Services. "Best practice is about automation and procedural discipline.
"The payoff is huge as witnessed recently with an engineering firm in Pensacola, Florida. The company was experiencing costly delays due to making multiple copies of the archived data for new projects. Its need was to be able to archive files in such a way as to be able to reprint them on demand, while maintaining image quality and reproducibility. Optimizing the workflow and scan settings reduced the number of rescans by 80 percent, the quality of their reprints improved by 95 percent and moving their OCR 'off-line' allowed a 40 percent increase in overall productivity/ throughput."
