Chinese Electronics Manufacturer Haier Showcases Scenario-based Solutions Including the "Small Apartment, Large Kitchen" Suite At CES 2016
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- During an era of transition that is seeing vast changes in the way consumers are buying and using products, what had long been considered the standard no longer meets the widely varying preferences of different groups. As a result, manufacturers are focusing on developing scenario-based solutions, which highlight experience, emotional expression and personalization. Chinese electronics manufacturer Haier recently displayed its innovative home appliances that address the needs in what Haier terms as "the 7 smart ecosystems," as well as three scenario-based solutions specifically designed for the American market, including a layout that it has named, "Small Apartments, Large Kitchens" at CES, attracting a great amount of attention from U.S. consumers.
Haier set up three small living spaces - The Small Space Living, the Traditional Suite and the Entertainment Theater - at its booth, creating a high-quality home environment within a limited living space through a suite of small-sized home appliances. The small living space, comprised of a 24-inch convection oven, a 14.2 cu. ft. 4-door refrigerator, an 18-inch built-in dishwasher and a 2.0 cu. ft. washer, provided a comfortable and homey living environment for an apartment dweller.
Season 10 winner of Hell's Kitchen Celebrity, Celebrity Chef Dana Cohen displayed cooking products at the booth, showcasing the charm and attraction of Haier's small spaces to visitors. Russell, a student from Columbus College of Art and Design, told reporters, "Small spaces can create such high-quality life. It is hard to imagine the stir these home appliances and solutions will create in New York's Manhattan or in San Francisco."
This is not the first time that Haier has created solutions specifically for U.S. consumers. Since 1999, when Haier entered the US market, it has been developing innovative products based on user demand, such as the small refrigerator with a folding table board for college students, the "Thanksgiving turkey refrigerator" accommodating an entire turkey and the ultra quiet window air conditioner. In addition, the electronics manufacturer has partnered with the U.S.'s top 10 retailers, including Walmart and Best Buy, and, in doing so, became a leading electronics manufacturer supplying the home appliance industry across the U.S. and gaining popularity among American consumers.
In addition to the three scenario-based smart homes in limited spaces, Haier displayed products of what it has deemed the "7 u+ ecosystems" at the CES, showcasing smart living applications for the handling of food and beverages, for cleaning and for the handling of water.
Validic Unveils VitalSnap, New Mobile Technology to Enable Real-Time Health Data Transfer from Non-Connected Devices
Announced at CES, VitalSnap unlocks traditionally inaccessible health information from non-connected devices and delivers those insights directly to healthcare organizations for improved care coordination and outcomes
DURHAM, N.C., Jan. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Validic, the world's leading digital health platform connecting healthcare organizations to data generated by consumer and clinical health technologies, today introduced VitalSnap(TM), a new mobile technology that enables users to easily record health data from their in-home device via their smartphone's camera using patent-pending technology. Validic can then deliver this data seamlessly to healthcare organizations, helping overcome connectivity barriers that limit the overall care experience.
A majority of medical devices have limited or no digital connectivity, meaning information accumulates on the device and may never be sent to or viewed by a provider. This data inaccessibility makes it difficult for providers to make timely care decisions, which is especially concerning for patients suffering from chronic conditions who take consistent biometric readings and require regular clinical touch points.
VitalSnap, a part of Validic's Mobile product suite, makes at-home care and on-the-go data sharing easier for patients. With Validic's technology, patients who properly utilize the solution no longer need to connect their device to a computer or keep a manual log of measurements. VitalSnap alleviates not only the burdensome and time-consuming process involved with manual input, but also reduces data inaccuracies stemming from manual recordings.
A recent iTriage study found that 76 percent of individuals are interested in sharing their tracked health data with their provider; and, in a recent Deloitte survey, 90 percent of physicians indicated interest in incorporating digital health technology believing that it has clinical value and impact. VitalSnap powers easy data accessibility by enabling patients to keep an accurate record of readings while automatically updating physicians or care teams with that data as part of a care treatment plan.
"We're excited to announce this innovative technology that will provide a strong stepping stone for connected health strategies across healthcare," said Ryan Beckland, CEO and co-founder of Validic. "Validic is working to connect to any health device on the market using a variety of technical solutions to ensure healthcare organizations, our clients, have access to the actionable data they need. We can't improve care without critical patient data; this is the reality in healthcare right now. Access to real-time device readings allows caregivers to make quicker, better care decisions."
Leveraging optical character recognition (OCR), VitalSnap enables patients to use their smartphone to quickly capture readings from non-connected digital health devices, such as thermometers and blood pressure cuffs, from the phone's camera without taking a picture. The information can then recorded within an application and transmitted to a providers' electronic health record (EHR) or patient portal.
"Without technology like VitalSnap, there is still a digital divide between patients trying to share the data and providers trying to access data," said Brian Carter, senior director and general manager of population health at Cerner. "Considering patient outcomes are most affected by what he or she is doing on a day-to-day basis outside the physician's office or hospital, we as an industry need to start better integrating data from these activities and biometrics in the treatment process."
VitalSnap effectively removes connectivity barriers. It makes remote monitoring initiatives easier and less time-consuming for patients, caregivers and researchers. This technology enables hospitals, health systems, CROs, pharmaceutical companies, and payers to support connections to a large number and wide breadth of device types while allowing patients to continue using familiar devices, resulting in increased engagement.
"As a manufacturer of devices that produce both connected and non-connected experiences, we are thrilled about the impact VitalSnap will have on the market. This truly unique and revolutionary technology allows our non-connected devices to be easily and quickly integrated to and accessible by providers. We're excited to be a part of the launch and to continue to grow our alignment with Validic." - Ranndy Kellogg, Chief Operating Officer, Omron Healthcare, Inc.
VitalSnap easily integrates into device applications on iOS and Android platforms to give healthcare organizations of all types the ability to gather insight from data-locked devices. VitalSnap will connect with 18 devices for its launch, expanding Validic's network of integrations to 244.
Validic will demo VitalSnap at the Digital Health Summit during CES 2016 in Las Vegas on Jan. 7, during their session, Data in Action: Digital Health's Secret Weapon. To learn more about VitalSnap or how to access this technology, visit validic.com/vitalsnap.

Chinese Electronics Manufacturer Haier Showcases its Latest Line of Innovative Products at CES 2016
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Haier, one of China's leading electronics manufacturers, is exhibiting its line of products for what is being termed by several East Asian producers as the "u+ ecosystem", at the International Consumer Electronics Show 2016 (CES 2016) being held in Las Vegas, Nevada, from January 6, 2016, in a move to showcase its manufacturing prowess to the world.
Haier, with five major research and development centers, 21 industrial parks and 24 manufacturing facilities strategically located across the globe, has been able to identify trends in user preferences when the trend is still in its infancy and provide solutions to meet the demand created by the growing preference. Haier's exhibits, which cover seven smart (or "u+") ecosystems: food, air, cleaning, water, security, entertainment and education, have garnered quite a bit of attention from industry experts and visitors.
At CES, Evan, a student from Columbus College of Art & Design, had the opportunity to experience three of Haier's model small living spaces, all of which house smart home appliances especially developed for use in small living spaces and targeted to young consumers who typically live in cramped quarters in any of the major cities across the United States.
Evan said: "Such a compact space could house so many home appliances. If my apartment accommodates such a suite of home appliances, I can cook, while using the wine cabinet for storing my favorite selection of wines."
At the show, Haier also displayed network-connected products across all seven u+ ecosystems. The smart home robot Ubot represented Haier's ideal solution for consumers already thinking about how the latest advances in technology can lend convenience to their day to day living and showcased the firm's latest milestone in smart manufacturing. Haier has become a major exhibitor at CES of made-in-China products especially designed and developed for global markets.
A spokesperson for Haier said that their exhibits at the CES are the results of a connected factory system which itself is the result of the firm's dedication to smart manufacturing. As a leading Chinese maker, Haier started to study smart manufacturing systems and the connected factory as early as 2012. The company has established seven connected factories and an interactive and open ecosystem consisting of businesses, users and best-in-class resources.

Zebra Technologies' New Mobile Computer Revolutionizes Warehousing Operations, Saving an Hour per Worker per Shift
Enterprise-class TC8000 mobile computer's innovative design boosts productivity and reduces worker fatigue
LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill., Jan. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Zebra Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: ZBRA), a global leader in solutions and services that provide real-time visibility into organizations' assets, people and transactions, today introduced the TC8000 enterprise mobile computer, a landmark innovation in warehousing technology that will drive significant gains in productivity and decrease worker fatigue. The ergonomic, lightweight TC8000 mobile computer offers an innovative design that reduces muscle effort by eliminating the need for "tilt and verify" motions warehouse workers repeatedly conduct with traditional devices. Shaving seconds off each repetitive motion saves one hour per worker per shift - increasing productivity by an average of 14 percent based on workflow.
Zebra worked with users around the globe to completely re-think, re-design and re-engineer industrial mobile computers based on deep research and human factors analysis. The result is the new rugged Android(TM)-based TC8000 mobile computer - 33 percent lighter than traditional mobile computers and requiring less muscle effort and reduced wrist motion to help increase the productivity of warehouse workers. It also reduces training time and makes data entry significantly faster and more accurate in challenging industrial settings.
KEY FACTS
-- Designed for warehouses, third-party logistics, manufacturing and
back-of-store retail environments, the TC8000 offers triple-shift
battery power and can be used for warehouse management, price audits,
store receiving, inventory management, voice-directed picking (VDP) and
supply-line replenishment applications.
-- The TC8000 automatically updates legacy Terminal Emulation (TE) "green
screens" into modern, graphics-based All-touch Terminal Emulation
screens without requiring IT to modify back-end systems. The highly
intuitive user experience on the TC8000's large touchscreen not only
reduces the number of interactions required to complete a task but also
increases accuracy.
-- The TC8000 is available with Zebra's most advanced scanning engine and
the industry's first hands-free proximity scanner in a handheld device,
which can be enabled from a hip holster, presentation holster or a cart
mount. Coupled with Zebra's SimulScan Document Capture, it is now easy
to capture multiple bar codes and entire forms with a single scan.
-- Zebra OneCare Support Service contracts can significantly reduce
unforeseen support expenses for the TC8000 by providing comprehensive
coverage, technical support, software updates and unique device
diagnostics that will detect WLAN connectivity, memory and battery
issues helping improve mobile worker productivity and reducing downtime.
-- Zebra will debut the TC8000 in booth #1603 at the 2016 NRF BIG Show
being held on Jan. 17-20, 2016, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center
in New York City.

The TC8000 will help warehouse workers be more efficient and deliver more accurate information, ultimately helping businesses operate more profitably."
Jim Bonner, general manager, Exel Logistics

Our IT staff and warehouse operators have been testing the product and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive for its lightweight design and ease of use. Our operations managers and supervisors are expecting significant improvements in productivity. The innovative ergonomic design with the heads up display, and ease of use for new workers will quickly become the industry standard for warehouse mobile computing."
Jeff Cashman, senior vice president, Manhattan Associates

Browser game Legends of Honor from Goodgame Studios takes commanders into a glorious
medieval world where only one thing matters: living and dying for the honor of your
faction. The game is all about heroes and their armies, which must be developed and led
into battles against other factions and sinister marauders. The interactive world map lets
players carry out actions in the style of a real-time strategy game. The dynamic battle
system and ongoing fortress expansions keep aspiring castle lords constantly engaged. Â
The Legends of Honor game world stands out due to its fast gameplay and features,
guaranteeing long-lasting fun. After completing the short tutorial, aspiring commanders
choose what faction they want to go to war for. Players can choose freely from the Order
of the Golden Claw, the Knights of Ash and Shadow, and the Warriors of the Wild Lands. The
player's faction determines which alliances they can later join. Alliances are an
essential component of Legends of Honor. They let players coordinate attack and defense
strategies with other commanders and trade resources with each other.
As the game's name suggests, honor is one of the key resources that commanders can
earn in battles. The more honor a player collects, the mightier honor ranks and units they
will unlock. Nonetheless, players should proceed with caution. If they get lazy or attack
considerably weaker opponents, they will also lose honor points. If a player decides to
leave their faction, they will forfeit all of their honor.
Heroes assist the player in winning battles on their path to becoming a legend. At
first, players only have one hero to lead their armies. Over the course of the game, more
heroes join the fight. In the style of the role-playing genre, it pays off to increase the
power of your heroes through battles and equipment as they become available. The heroes
can award troops various bonuses that play a key role in victory and defeat. The troop
formations consist of a multitude of battle units and unit boosters that the player can
improve continuously. Besides battling other players in their castles or on the world map,
players also have to destroy NPC marauders. The battle system impresses players with its
fast actions due to short planning times.
The special highlight of the tactical battle system is the interactive world map where
heroes can move about freely. The terrain type influences armies in battle. For example,
some units are good at attacking in the forest but are poor at defending themselves there.
For this reason, commanders must always carefully consider where to place their units and
ensure that the different types complement each other perfectly. Over the course of the
game, two new kingdoms can be unlocked, which contain not only an additional world map and
castle, but also new quests and resources.
Legends of Honor also offers players new challenges through upgrading fortresses and
managing a total of six different resources. Especially active castle lords are given a
resource clicker so their untiring fingers can ensure that wood and stone never run short.
Legends of Honor can be played worldwide and will be released in 20 languages.

Whirlpool® Top Load Washer and Dryer Can Handle a Week's Worth of Family Laundry
New Washer Features Innovative Load & Go(TM) Auto-Dispensing Laundry Detergent System
BENTON HARBOR, Mich., Jan. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Today's families are as busy as ever, making time one of our most valuable resources. Caring for your family day in and day out can be a full-time job, and it's natural to look for helpful shortcuts. That's why Whirlpool designed a new Top Load Washer and Dryer that lets you skip adding detergent and has the industry's largest capacity, fitting a week's worth of a family's laundry in one load.[1]
With the Load & Go(TM) system, families can fill this new washer with a month's worth of detergent[2] at once, and forget it. Automatic dispensing ensures each load gets the right amount of detergent, giving clothing precise fabric care. By providing practical and meaningful shortcuts, the washer makes laundry more intuitive for everyone in the family.
"The way families care for each other inspires our innovations to be meaningful, making a difference in the daily routine," said Chelsey Lindstrom, brand manager, Whirlpool brand. "Those differences can be as simple as making it easier to select the perfect wash cycle or automating the detergent process to dispense the right amount for the size and type of load."
With dozens of customized care cycle options, the laundry pair also offers the most customized fabric care in the industry[3], making caring for your family, and their clothes, more personalized.
The innovative new design also puts Whirlpool brand's intuitive front touch control panel conveniently within reach on top of the lids. Between hot versus cold or delicate versus normal, choosing the right wash cycle can be confusing. Most families end up washing their clothes on the "normal" cycle for that very reason. With fast-access QuickSelect(TM) system controls, families can uniquely tailor different wash cycles easily for specific fabrics - there are more than 50 unique combinations total - by simply answering two questions: "what" to wash and "how" to wash.
The new Whirlpool® Premium Top Load Washer and Dryer feature even more innovations inspired by the way families care for each other:
-- With the largest capacity in the industry (6.2 cu. ft.), families can
clean a full week's worth of clothes at once.
-- The Adaptive Wash Technology senses the needs of loads and adapts water
levels based on the amount of clothing and Advanced Moisture Sensing
technology helps prevent damage to clothing from over-drying by turning
the dryer off once clothes are dry.
The Whirlpool® Top Load Washer and Dryer will be available nationwide at major retailers in May 2016 in Chrome Shadow and White. As a pair, the washer and dryer together have a starting MSRP of $2,500 - $3,000.[4]

TCL has integrated its products into the design of TCL Square in an innovative and attractive way, creating interactive displays, roller washing machine-shaped pendent lamps and lockers designed with refrigerator door-shaped elements. The on-site sale of tourist souvenirs will help spread TCL's brand and the theatre's culture to every corner of the world.
TCL Square provides theatre visitors from every corner of the globe with an opportunity to experience the famous Celebrity Handprint Ceremony on the Hollywood Walk of Fame through the virtual electronic handprint equipment installed on site by TCL, a new addition to the theatre that is expected to come as a pleasant surprise to the visitors. It is another milestone for the TCL Chinese Theatre following the installation of the world's largest laser IMAX screen. TCL will continue to transform the 88-year-old theatre with the firm's advanced products and technologies.
In January of 2013, TCL purchased the naming rights to the theatre and renamed it the TCL Chinese Theatre. The milestone event reflects a new stage of cooperation between top Chinese brands led by TCL and the international entertainment sector and brings the Chinese company's global strategy to a new level. With the title sponsorship, TCL helped transform the interior and exterior of the theatre as well as upgrade the facilities, including updates of the LCD and LED digital displays, electronic posters and promotion screens. The renewed long-standing theatre provides travelers worldwide with a new experience, allowing them to imagine the future. It is in line with TCL's ongoing strategy of creating a brand that is "young, stylish and international."
The TCL Chinese Theatre is located next to the famous venue for the annual Academy Awards ceremony as well as for many Hollywood and global film events. Premieres and film festivals are held at the theatre almost weekly, and the red carpet now widely used in international film events had its origin here. The TCL Chinese Theatre is renowned for the celebrity handprint ceremonies held in its forecourt. Over the past 85 years, over 200 film stars, including Marilyn Monroe, Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt and George Clooney, have left their hand and footprints there. The TCL Chinese Theatre has become the venue of pilgrimage for every movie fan the world over and a must-see destination for any tourist visiting Los Angeles.
