BASSANO DEL GRAPPA, Italy, November 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
- Climaveneta air conditioning units installed in 2 out of the 3 data centers
currently awarded Tier IV Certification of Constructed Facility in Italy.
Data centers are dependent upon the successful and integrated operation of electrical,
mechanical, and building systems. As a matter of fact, the most critical decision-making
perspective owners and designers must consider is what effect the decision has on the
life-cycle-integrated operation of the IT environment in the computer room.
Keeping that in mind, the Uptime Institute, an unbiased advisory organization focused
on improving the performance, efficiency, and reliability of businesses' critical
infrastructure, created the standard Tier Classification System. It effectively evaluates
data center infrastructure in terms of a business' requirements for system availability by
providing the data center industry with a consistent method of comparing typically unique,
customized facilities based on expected site infrastructure performance.
Nowadays the most advanced data centers in terms of reliability are surely the Tier IV
certified ones. That is to say these facilities have multiple, independent, physically
isolated systems that provide redundant capacity components and multiple, independent,
diverse, active distribution paths simultaneously serving the critical environment, being
fully Fault Tolerant Site Infrastructures.
At present in Italy there are only 3 certified constructed Tier IV data centers and
Climaveneta is the supplier of the cooling system of 2 of them: Fastweb and Unipol
infrastructures.
FOCUS ON COOLING SYSTEM
Fastweb, an Italian telecommunications operator 100% owned by Swisscom, decided to
build a new data center offering the highest level of security possible to its clients.
This goal led to the decision to achieve Italy's first Tier IV Certification of
Constructed Facilities (TCCF) with quality construction and energy efficiency also in
mind.
The choice of cooling equipment was made considering the real operational parameters
of the system (temperatures, loads, etc.) and the specific design setting logic. Four
TECS2 0652 SL-CA-E high-efficiency Climaveneta chillers provide N+N cooling to the
facility.
The chillers are cutting edge in terms of energy efficiency, internal redundancy,
reliability, occupancy and noise; they are equipped with oil-free magnetic levitation
compressors and are specified to be super silent. ClimaPRO, a dedicated control system by
Climaveneta ensured that the chillers operate as efficiently as possible, balancing their
output ac- cording to the load present. The same system also identifies maintenance
actions-in addition to routine maintenance operations-which could improve efficiency.
Ferdinando Ciardullo, the M&E consultant, talking about the cooling system of the
certified data center says: "This site has peculiar architecture based on a dual active
branch, which translates into dual cooling plants, dual pumping stations, dual cooled
water supply circuits, allowing us to always ensure two essential factors: the possibility
of servicing any equipment or any part of a circuit any time, without Data Center
downtimes."
On the other side Unipol is the second insurance group on the Italian market and the
first in Non-Life business, classified among the top ten in Europe. To optimise the Group
organization they have planned to gather all the IT services in one data center located in
Bologna, on Pilastro Street.
The new facility is an example of efficiency, not only in terms of energy consumption
but also of reduced space, cooling and CO2 emissions.
At Unipol Data Center Pilastro Climaveneta supplied 4 TECS2/XL-CA/S 0512 high
efficiency chillers that easily adapt themselves to different thermal load conditions
thanks to their precise thermoregulation together with the use of inverter technology. The
compressor is radically innovative: magnetic bearings and digital rotor speed control
allow it to guarantee energy efficiency at partial loads, which represents more than 75%
of a data center's working time.
Paolo Bussolotto, National Sales director at Climaveneta says, "It has been a pleasure
to work with such a big group like Unipol and a challenge to find the best way to satisfy
their request in terms of cooling and efficiency." He follows: "The new data center in
Pilastro Street is the last of an important sequence of IT cooling projects Climaveneta
achieved all over the World and demonstrates the company reliability in terms of HVAC and
HPAC solutions."
Even Telecom Italia Acilia data center in Rome and Poste Italiane Torino data center,
currently undergoing the Tier IV Certification of the Design Documents section, will be
equipped with Climaveneta units. This is further proof that Climaveneta's range presents
itself as the ideal solution to match the most demanding requirements of Tier IV
Datacenter designers and managers in terms of reliability, efficiency, flexibility and the
lowest cost of ownership.
Carsharing Operators Move to Smartphone-based Car Access Systems to Win More Subscribers
Vehicle-sharing technologies: standalone smartphone-based virtual key solutions will improve user experience
LONDON, Nov. 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Over the years, vehicle-sharing technologies have evolved from simple manual systems to increasingly complex computer-based systems. In the next three to seven years, the market will move away from off-the-shelf technologies toward open source software, plug and play systems and smartphone-based near field communications/Bluetooth low energy (NFC/BLE) technologies. By 2025, automated driving, connected mobility and electric vehicle charging technologies will form the crux of the vehicle-sharing technology market.
New analysis from Frost & Sullivan, Strategic Analysis of the Vehicle-sharing Technologies Market, finds that the global carsharing user base will reach 26 million members by 2020. Carsharing operators (CSOs) in North America will lead the way in terms of technology deployments, followed by Europe. To meet the growing demand, partnerships among CSOs, technology companies and original equipment manufacturers will gather pace.
For complimentary access to more information on this research, please visit: http://ow.ly/UhtvW.
"NFC based technologies are being incorporated as a basic standard in smartphones by the majority of the smartphone makers. This will unearth opportunities for cost-effective, smartphone-based remote vehicle control solutions," said Frost & Sullivan Intelligent Mobility Senior Research Analyst Albert Geraldine Priya. "CSOs will also be able to deliver a superior 'car ownership' experience through automatic personalisation features such as rear-view mirror and seat adjustments configured in the smartphone."
On the flip side, smartphone-based access control and vehicle tracking solutions have several inherent security issues. The risk of hacking, interception of communication signals, thefts, data corruption and viruses will delay the adoption of smartphone-based vehicle-sharing solutions.
Concerns surrounding the effective integration of third party hardware and software solutions with business processes deter most carsharing operators from subscribing to third-party services. In addition, legal regulations in some countries fail to create an environment conducive to the uptake of vehicle-sharing technologies. However, the advantages far outweigh the challenges.
"CSOs are looking to attract more subscribers by lowering costs and enhancing user experience through the integration of smartphone-based keyless access into carsharing solutions," noted Priya. "Semi-autonomous and fully autonomous cars in vehicle-sharing fleets will become a reality by 2018 and 2025 respectively, further simplifying carsharing and opening up additional markets for participants in the vehicle-sharing technologies market."
Strategic Analysis of the Vehicle-sharing Technologies Market (MB84-18) is a Strategic Insight that is part of the Automotive & Transportation (http://ow.ly/UhtNZ) Growth Partnership Service program. This Insight offers an overview of technology trends, drivers, restraints and market opportunities in the vehicle-sharing technology market. The research also provides a region-wise comparative analysis of vehicle-sharing technologies and case studies of top market participants, rounded off with strategic conclusions and recommendations.

Hisense Launches China's First Independently-developed Graphics Engine Chip
The destiny of Chinese companies lies in the ownership of the core technology that drives the products they produce. Such ownership starts with the product's chip, the "heart" that powers most complete sets of equipment.
QINGDAO, China, Nov. 25, 2015 /PR Newswire/ -- Hisense Group today announced the official availability of its smart television featuring the company's independently-developed SOC-level graphics engine chip. This marks another achievement following its launch of China's first independently-developed color TV chip in 2005, ending the era during which China had been dependent on third parties outside of the country for the color TV chip.
"The chip significantly improves the dynamic range of the LCD TV screen as well as the dynamic contrast ratio, color gamut, definition and fluency of movement. It is the result of the industrial production of core electronic devices, high-end generic chips and basic software in China," said Dr. Zhong Sheng, director of chip research and development at Hisense.
"A vendor without their own chips would always be a second-class vendor and cannot define its original products," said Zhou Houjian, chairman of Hisense Group. The latest chip product elevates Hisense to the status of a world-class vendor, making it a definer and leader of the world's television display technologies, in addition to Sony and Samsung. The company had already become one of the top three manufacturers in the global middle- and high-end television market.
High-end televisions are equipped with a master chip and a TCOM chip. With the prevalence of 4K and 8K chip sources and broadcasting and resolution needs of video streaming media, larger screens require graphics engine chips. The combination of the three chips can significantly improve the computing performance through interdependent and simultaneous operation. Hisense is the first Chinese company leveraging the three chips and independently developed the SOC-level graphics engine chip at production costs far lower than those of similar products in other countries, increasing its market competitiveness.
Dr. Huang Weiping, chairman of Hisense Hiview, revealed that the company's strategy is to optimize its LED business. The introduction of the graphics engine chip will further improve the core competitiveness of its previous best graphics engine product, the ULED. The company is expected to produce 1 million graphics engine chips during the first year. In addition to home applications, Hisense aims to introduce the graphics engine chip to the medical, drawing and movie monitoring sectors.

Heated Luggage Protects Travelers from Bedbug Infestations
CHICAGO, Nov. 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- When an estimated 46.9 million Americans are expected to travel this Thanksgiving holiday season, they'll be looking forward to a four-day weekend, feasting, football games, and fellowship. But a rise in bed bug infestations could mean travelers may bring along some unwanted guests to the holiday dinner table.
No longer just a risk in the bedroom, bedbugs are also found in hospitals, nursing homes, movie theaters, retail stores, universities and public schools, and even on airplanes. Eight of the top 10 busiest airports for Thanksgiving weekend from Nov. 25 to Nov. 30 as reported by Orbitz are located in the top 30 cities for bedbugs (as reported by Orkin).
"With the large number of people expected to travel this year for Thanksgiving, there is a higher risk for bringing along bedbugs as they hitchhike from one person to another," said Brian Hirsch, director of sales for ThermalStrike, a line of products that features state-of-the-art infrared technology that is lethal to all stages of bed bugs. "With a few simple precautionary steps, an infestation can be avoided and families can eliminate stress about a potential encounter with the pests."
According to Hirsch, while there's a heightened concern about bedbugs, there's also a lot of confusion about how you get them and what to do. "Getting rid of bedbugs is no easy task," Hirsch says. In fact, the National Pest Management Association recommends exposure to temperatures above 118°F for bedbug management. ThermalStrike Luggage is designed to exceed these temperatures to kill all stages of bedbugs and eggs, while regulating temperatures that are safe for most items.
"By raising the luggage's handle and simply plugging the unit into a traditional wall socket, it treats all of your belongings," Hirsch says. "It is peace of mind for travelers once they get to their destination, and when they return home."
Available in two sizes, a 20 carry-on and 24 upright, ThermalStrike luggage is TSA and FAA compliant and features an ultra-thin heating system with an integrated thermometer that automatically shuts off after reaching the desired temperature to kill all life stages of bedbugs.
Hirsch offers additional tips for travelers to consider this holiday travel season:
1. Be prepared: Protect yourself while traveling. Check the hotel room and
use bedbug-proof luggage like ThermalStrike.
2. Be on the lookout. Bedbug signs include: itchy, red welts on skin, black
fecal material in mattress folds and black/red spots on sheets.
3. Be Aware: Bedbugs hide in common spots like trains, buses, movie
theaters, the gym and other public places.
4. Use helpful apps like Bed Bug 101 mobile app to stay aware on the go.

Meeba Smart Doorbell Controlled Directly from Your Smartphone: "Open Your Door with A Smile"
The next generation of doorbells enables change of ringtones and receipt of messages on your smartphone, which flashes when someone is waiting in front of your house. Accessible, user-friendly, easy and quick to update it is suitable for everyone.
TEL AVIV, Israel, November 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Our generation likes to be in control. We like to buy products that help us be in
control. Smartphones are the classic example of how to obtain everything we desire from
anywhere in the world through a simple search and at the click of a button.
Entrepreneur Yaron Walter (38) who heads the company "WALTER APPS", specializing in
the development and production of applications for start-ups in the global market,
recognized the potential of the simple domestic doorbell that has barely ever progressed.
The features of MEEBA(TM) turn the old-fashioned household doorbell into a gadget, an
innovative accessory and an experience through its many, varied control options.
And if you can control your doorbell's ringtone then why shouldn't other people enjoy
it too? Every visitor can listen to your favorite song and be welcomed with a smile.
Yaron says he is someone who adopts technology and buys everything that moves. The
idea for the product came from his great love of music: "Before we got married, my wife
and I lived in a studio apartment in Moshav Beit Uziel. We did not receive visitors
because we were ashamed of the size of our home, and we also did not have a doorbell.
After we got married we moved to a bigger apartment. On the day we moved, my wife rang
the doorbell. I hadn't heard a doorbell ring for some 10 years and suddenly it dawned on
me: I love music, so why not have the music I love in my doorbell and listen to my
favorite song while making other people happy". And everything developed from there.
The need for "MEEBA" cannot be disconnected from the needs of those who are hard of
hearing. MEEBA is the only product that combines the mobile phone, close to us 24/7, with
technology that enables notifications to be received directly on the mobile phone. The
solution allows everyone to adopt technology and narrow the social gaps, showing that we
are all equal.
The doorbell is very easy to install at home; it does not need a professional to
install it and it runs on long-life batteries. It connects through WiFi, enabling you to
control your doorbell from anywhere you may be.
Yaron Walter is developing the idea, and adds that over and above the first product he
developed they are today in advanced development stages. The developments will expand the
possible uses of the doorbell, including a camera that will allow users to see on their
smartphones who is ringing their doorbell. A smart, portable product that is task oriented
and much more...

The Biggest Breakthrough In Television Audio Has Arrived
AfterMaster TV Solves TV Dialogue Issues For Good
HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Nov. 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Gone are the frustrating days of reaching for the TV remote to adjust the volume in order to hear dialogue and the way a program was originally intended to sound. Providing a worldwide solution to inconsistent television audio and intelligible audio, AfterMaster TV is the answer consumers have been looking for. This groundbreaking device eliminates the issue of distorted and inconsistent sound levels and substantially raises audio quality in virtually all televisions, regardless of the speaker system or audio controls. The AfterMaster TV box is not much bigger than an iPhone and connects via HDMI cables, between an A/V source and a television.
While sight is the heart of television, sound is the soul as it evokes emotion and excitement during a TV-program or movie watching experience. Hollow, inconsistent sound and the need to constantly adjust TV volume to make dialogue clear has left consumers displeased with programing today. Recognizing this universal problem, the team at AfterMaster spent several years perfecting AfterMaster TV's technology. The innovative device breathes life back into sound by restoring the integrity of the audio as it was originally created.
Developed by a world-class group of music industry professionals including music engineers, producers and audio specialists, AfterMaster TV delivers enhanced, unparalleled sound quality with:

-- Substantially less volume adjustment
-- Exciting and detailed sound never heard before
-- More fullness and low end from small speakers
Most importantly, AfterMaster TV provides a far more overall enjoyable audio experience with ease and simplicity. It works on everything from a standard HDMI cable or satellite box, to gaming consoles such as PS4 and Xbox, as well as streaming products like Apple TV and Roku.

AfterMaster's executive team includes music and audio technology leaders Justin Timberlake, Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, Shelly Yakus and Larry Ryckman. AfterMaster delivers an unparalleled clarity, depth and fullness to audio recordings, while delivering a significant increase in volume without increased distortion or loss of dynamic range. The technology has been utilized by a number of leading musicians seeking to create a fuller and richer sound quality than otherwise available in digital audio.
Basic Usability Issues Make System Too Complex; Consumers Most Attracted by Remote Vehicle Monitoring Capabilities
BOSTON, Nov. 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- A recent user evaluation from the In-Vehicle UX (IVX) group at Strategy Analytics (http://www.strategyanalytics.com) assessing the Qoros Cloud in-vehicle infotainment system has found that overall, participants stated that they would prefer an icon-based interface rather than the text-heavy Qoros system. Though attracted by the remote vehicle monitoring capabilities enabled by the Qoros smartphone app, participants considered the system to be complex to use due to basic usability issues with the phone and navigation features, as well as with text entry.
Surveying consumers in China, the connected features that enable users to remotely monitor vehicle status were the main attractions of the Qoros Cloud infotainment system. With embedded 3G/4G connectivity, consumers exhibited great interest in the ability to remotely locate the vehicle, check tire pressures, call emergency help, consult online customer service, and sync navigation routes. However, the lack of some key features such as remote control of the horn, lights, and HVAC, as well as usability issues in navigation route planning, mean that the "Cloud" service of the Qoros system still has much room for improvement.
Alvin Wu Senior Analyst and report author commented, "Overall, there are basic but essential usability issues that need to be resolved before the Qoros system can bring a satisfactory experience to drivers. With the introduction of somewhat novel HMIs such as swiping gestures that are unlikely to be expected by users, it is important to provide conventional, yet easy to use alternatives and display prompts to guide users when mistaken interactions happen."
Continued Wu, "The swiping gestures on the Qoros system have the potential to enable drivers to perform simple tasks without looking at the display. However, this only applies to tasks that involve no further interaction (e.g. skip a track). As the consequences of a swiping gesture are more likely to be unpredictable, the time needed for a user to learn and get used to the HMI would be considerably longer than for a large size icon-based interface."
Chris Schreiner, Director, IVX added, "In addition, the button locations of the Qoros infotainment system had a severely negative impact on feature discoverability. Instead of placing buttons on the corners of the display, locating the main buttons in a cluster which users could then focus on when using the feature, would be a better alternative."

Affle Launches its Mobile Advertising Self Serve Platform 'MAAS Xtend'
CHENGDU, China, Nov. 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Affle, a leading mobile platform company, today announced the launch of its Mobile Advertising Self Serve platform titled 'MAAS Xtend' at the Global Mobile Game Developers Conference (GMGDC) being held in Chengdu, China. Mobile Advertising platforms have traditionally been offering managed services targeting large enterprises. However, with the rapid growth in the Mobile App economy a completely new category of advertisers have emerged who would much rather work with Self Serve platforms on which they can manage and be in full control of their campaigns. MAAS Xtend which is an extension of Affle's Mobile Audience As a Service (MAAS) platform, would thus cater to this market and offer advertisers complete automation and optimization controls to maximize ROI on their mobile spends.
With several top programmatic and direct supply sources already integrated, MAAS Xtend would offer advertisers a simple 4-step process to configure and manage their campaigns. Campaign Managers can thus set up and manage global campaigns with precise targeting & defined KPI metrics in a matter of a few minutes on this platform. MAAS Xtend would soon also integrate with other MAAS platform modules like OptiSense6 and Affle Attribution SDK to offer an integrated automated suite to manage all mobile advertising procurement, attribution and ROI optimizations.
Commenting on this launch, Anuj Khanna Sohum,Founder, CEO and Chairman, Affle said, "Affle has always been in the forefront for developing a mobile market ecosystem that fosters greater transparency, control and optimization opportunities for marketers. We launched our OptiSense 6 platform last month, which catered to the Enterprise users who would use our Managed Services offerings. The current launch of MAAS Xtend is targeted to App marketers who well understand the nuances of the mobile eco-system and prefer to manage their campaigns over an integrated Self Serve platform like ours. We are very happy to launch this at one of the largest gaming events in China and look forward to MAAS Xtend getting massive adoption amongst App marketers in China and across the world. We have today rolled out an 'Invite Only' program for this platform, and intend to make it available to all our partners by early next year."
By having integrations with all major supply sources, campaigns on MAAS Xtend could potentially be targeted to a majority of the 1.9 billion global smartphone users, which would include over 800 million smartphone users in Affle's strongest markets - China, India & Indonesia.
The MAAS Xtend launch is part of Affle's overall strategy of redefining the mobile media business to move towards greater software automation with audience intelligence being at the core, which drives ROI for campaigns across all supply sources through a unified integrated platform.
About Affle:

Microchip's new cost-effective low power PIC(R) MCUs extend battery life and eliminate external memory via 1 MB of dual-partition flash
PIC24F "GB6" microcontroller family also features live update capability for always on industrial, computer, medical/fitness and portable applications
BANGKOK, Nov. 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Microchip Technology Inc.(NASDAQ: MCHP), a leading provider of microcontroller, mixed-signal, analog and Flash-IP solutions, today announced the expansion of its low power PIC(®) microcontroller (MCU) portfolio. Features of the new PIC24F "GB6" family include up to 1 MB of flash memory with Error Correction Code (ECC) and 32 KB of RAM, making it the first 16-bit MCU in Microchip's portfolio to offer such a large memory size. Also featuring dual-partition flash with live update capability, these devices can hold two independent software applications, permitting the simultaneous programming of one partition while executing application code from the other. This powerful combination of features makes the PIC24F "GB6" family ideal for industrial, computer, medical/fitness and portable applications that require a long battery life, data transfer and storage without the need for external memory. Such applications include electricity metering, HVAC control, fingerprint scanners and gaming.
"Large on-chip memory is always desirable, and with 1 MB of Flash, our customers can eliminate external memory to lower system cost. This family also offers dual-partition flash with live update capability, enabling execution from one part of the memory while updating your code," said Joe Thomsen, vice president of Microchip's MCU16 division.
MCUs in the PIC24F "GB6" family have active current consumption as low as 190 uA/MHz, and 3.2 uA in sleep mode. With the ability to perform over-the-air firmware updates, designers can provide a reliable, secure and cost-effective method for updating their applications.
The robust peripheral set for these devices includes a 200 ksps, 24 channel, 12-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC); up to 12 timers, six UARTS and a USB-OTG to act as a USB device or host. Microchip Core Independent Peripherals (CIPs) that run without the CPU are also integrated into the family, including a Configurable Logic Cell (CLC) for real-time logic control and Direct Memory Access (DMA) that enables faster throughput and lowers power consumption.
Development Support
The PIC24F "GB6" family is supported by Microchip's standard suite of world-class development tools, and the new PIC24FJ1024GB610 Plug-In Module (part # MA240023) is available today for the Explorer 16 Development Board (part # DM240001).

Anritsu Introduces ShockLine(TM) VNA Solutions to Lower Test Costs Associated with Verifying E-band, Microwave Passive Component Performance
- New Frequency Options for MS46500B Series Bring Price/Performance Benefits to Help Overcome Cost Obstacles Facing E-band and Microwave Designs -
MORGAN HILL, Calif., Nov. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Anritsu Company introduces an E-band option for its ShockLine(TM) MS46500B series of 2- and 4-port performance Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs) that addresses the market need to lower cost-of-test for E-band components. With the option installed, the MS46500B series can reduce production costs and more efficiently verify the performance of high-frequency passive components, such as antennas, filters, and duplexers, during manufacturing.
In addition to the E-band frequency capability, Anritsu also introduces 20 GHz and 40 GHz options for the ShockLine MS46500B series. With these options, the MS46500B VNAs address the S-parameter and time-domain measurement requirements associated with microwave applications.
Cost-effective E-band Solution
With the 55 GHz to 92 GHz E-band frequency option, the MS46500B delivers a combination of high performance and economy unprecedented in the E-band VNA market, making it a superior choice over higher-priced broadband systems in cost-sensitive applications. Available in both 2- and 4-port configurations, it extends the frequency coverage of the ShockLine VNA family and makes the MS46500B ideal for testing mm-wave passive components used in 5G small cell networks, driver assistance/collision avoidance radar, near- and far-field antenna, and personal communication applications.
Microwave Options
The new 20 GHz and 40 GHz options add power control, LRL/LRM calibration and other capabilities previously unavailable in ShockLine microwave VNAs. The MS46500B, with the microwave options, is ideal for testing components used in network equipment, automotive, signal integrity, and system integration applications. The ShockLine MS46500B series is particularly well suited for integration into measurement systems, due to its typical dynamic range of 120 dB to 40 GHz, full remote programming capability and a small 3U rack-mountable package.
The 2-port MS46522B and 4-port MS46524B VNAs use the same software, command syntax, drivers, and programming environments as the other ShockLine instruments. This powerful feature enables reuse of program code written for ShockLine family VNAs on the E-band and microwave instruments with little or no alteration.
ShockLine software also provides a powerful graphical user interface (GUI) for manual test environments. When attached to a user-supplied touchscreen monitor, the full-featured GUI provides comprehensive capabilities, including network extraction, embedding/de-embedding networks, and time domain with gating. Developing and troubleshooting test programs is made easier with advanced marker functionality, limit lines, and other features of the software.
The ShockLine MS46500B VNA series has best-in-class dynamic range of 140 dB at 2 GHz and typically >120 dB up to 40 GHz, as well as fast sweep times and industry-best maximum output power, all at an economical price. It is one of five ShockLine series that feature 1-, 2-, or 4-port models in multiple form factors. All ShockLine VNAs are designed with LAN or USB interfaces to fit any testing environment and can economically test passive devices in cost-sensitive manufacturing, engineering, and education applications.

Ty Warner to Broadcast First-Ever Commercial This Black Friday
CHICAGO, Nov. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Black Friday, Beanie Babies creator, Ty Warner of Ty, will debut Peek-A-Boos first ever commercial. Peek-A-Boos hold all phones upright for a hands free experience - the ideal gift and stocking stuffer for this holiday season.
"Kids love plush animals and they love technology and the Peek-A-Boos change the way they interact with both," said Ty Warner. Peek-A-Boos appeal to all ages and can hold all phones and mini tablets while playing games, talking on FaceTime, or watching videos hands free.
The TV spot, created by Leo Burnett Chicago, features a catchy, danceable tune with children interacting with Peek-A-Boos. The big eyes peek over mobile phone screens - on nightstands when the alarm sounds, in a locker for sending texts between classes and on kitchen tables to practice math. The plush animals also have a soft, microfiber bottom that doubles as a screen cleaner.
"From early on, we felt we had something special. Lots of kids broke into dance during the auditions, and much of what made the final cut was improvised on set," said Leo Burnett Associate Creative Director Brandon Crockett. "We made an effort to create a song and performances that would appeal not only to kids, but their millennial parents, who were the original Beanie Baby collectors."
The spot will air on national, cable and broadcast stations throughout the holidays as consumers search for the perfect gift or stocking stuffer. In addition to large-scale TV media, the product will also be promoted in paid social and across Ty social media channels.
Peek-A-Boos retail for around $5.00 - $6.00 and can be collected in four styles including Penni the penguin, Chimps the monkey, Uni the unicorn and Pups the dog.
While interviewing Ty Warner on his radio show "Aches and Gains," Dr. Paul Christo, an MD at Johns Hopkins Hospital, recently noted that Peek-A-Boos may help alleviate "text neck." Dr. Christo explained that they may help alleviate the condition, which is caused by the repetitive motion of looking down to text message or using social media apps on a phone.
Dr. Christo says, "Peek-A-Boos are an innovative solution that may help avoid or ease Text Neck...not to mention the fact they're really cute!"
About Ty
Ty is the largest manufacturer of plush in the world. Peek-A-Boos are the latest innovation from Ty, allowing you to use your phones hands-free.

'Stringless' Guitar, Kurv, Launches on Kickstarter
LONDON, November 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
The future of digital instruments aims for $50k crowdfunding success
Kurv Guitar [http://kurvguitar.com ] launches today on Kickstarter, with early bird
packages starting from $185. The patent-pending Kurv was developed by a pioneering team
with experience in electronic music research, artificial intelligence and product design.
Â
The Kurv consists of two parts - a button board where you press chords and notes, and
a pick. The pick contains a sensor that recognises strumming movements, just like playing
on a normal guitar.
The Kurv Guitar has been designed as a 'stringless' digital guitar that allows anyone
to learn and play songs using touch, motion and gestures. Applying cutting-edge research
from Goldsmiths, University of London and the University of Sussex, the device combines
advanced music synthesis software, sensor technologies and machine learning to enable an
unprecedented level of 'new musical expression'.
Dr. Mick Grierson, co-founder of Kurv and Reader at Goldsmiths Department of Computing
commented, "For the first time, we can run advanced music synthesis engines on your mobile
phone. When you combine this power with wearable technologies and machine learning, you
can develop new musical instruments that were considered science fiction only a few years
ago." Â
"The guitar is one of the most popular and best selling musical instruments in the
world. But, learning the guitar takes time, commitment and is tough on the hands. The
design of the Kurv started by looking at the ergonomics of hands. The co-designer of the
Kurv, Tania Fauvel, who comes from a background in body-scanning, said, "We started by
looking at large surveys of people's' hands. Your fingers can comfortably touch eight
distinct places on your palm. In western music, there are eight notes in an octave, eight
notes in a scale and eight chords in a key."
John Kennedy, Co-Founder of Kurv and former President of Universal Music International,
added "Many people who listen to music aspire not just to be passive listeners, but would
like to be playing as well. Many people buy a guitar and work on it for four weeks and
then it sits in the corner as a piece of furniture. We hope the Kurv can change that."
For those who would like to create new musical instruments using the Kurv - whether it
is a snare drum, viola or an Indonesian angklung - a software development kit is also
being released.
Kurv specificationsÂ
1) Compatibility: The Kurv is compatible with devices running iOS 8 or later (must
have Bluetooth 4.0, BLE)
2) Weight: Kurv: 35g Pick: 21g
3) Sensors: gyroscopes, accelerometers, magnetometers, touch pressure sensors
4) Dimensions: Kurv (Medium): 45mm x 86mm x 45mm; Pick: 50mm x 55mm x 15mm
5) Connectivity: Bluetooth 4.0, BLE via iOS/Android app

ChefSteps debuts Joule, the smallest, most powerful sous vide tool on the market, with a mission to bring the kitchen back to the heart of the home
Joule is available for immediate preorder for the discounted price of $199 until January 15 and ships in May 2016
SEATTLE, Nov. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Seattle-based startup ChefSteps® (http://www.chefsteps.com) announced its expansion into kitchen hardware with Joule(TM), the world's smallest and most powerful sous vide immersion circulator. Designed from the ground up by the ChefSteps team of chefs, artists, engineers and scientists, Joule is a sleek, app-controlled tool that combines the precision, ease and reliability of sous vide cooking with the intelligence, creativity and fun of ChefSteps.
"From day one, our goal at ChefSteps has been to help passionate cooks be creative and confident in the kitchen," said Chris Young, CEO and co-founder of ChefSteps. "Sous vide is a big part of what we do in our kitchen, but we were frustrated by the existing sous vide gadgets, which are confusing and awkward for the home cook to use. So we decided to take the lead on creating a better sous vide experience for our community of cooks. Joule is a culinary tool that was designed and built to help cooks of every skill level and to make sous vide a real part of today's kitchen--a tool that can help you make amazing meals on busy days or wow guests with special-occasion feasts."
A Tool for Today's Kitchen
Housed in a sleek cylinder that's only 11 inches tall, 1.85 inches in diameter, and just over a pound in weight, Joule is less than half the weight of even the smallest consumer sous vide device available today, small enough to easily fit in a top kitchen drawer and be used with almost any standard pot or pan you already have. Joule's design features forged 316L stainless steel and impact-resistant, seamless food grade plastic housing for a lifetime of durability. Unlike all other immersion circulators, Joule is entirely waterproof (because, hey, accidents happen).
Joule delivers 1100 watts of heating power from a unique, compact heater invented by ChefSteps using thick film technology that operates at 99.8 percent energy efficiency for the fastest preheating times on the market. A powerful rare-earth magnetic base easily mounts Joule to any magnetic steel pot or induction-ready cookware, while the optional clip system can be used to mount Joule to just about any cooking vessel.
At the heart of Joule is its companion cooking app, so you can control your experience with the device you use the most--your smartphone. The meticulously designed iOS and Android app features intuitive circulator controls connected via both Bluetooth and WiFi to hundreds of proven ChefSteps recipes and dozens of step-by-step guides and sous vide tips to help cooks of all skill levels get more creative and more confident. The Joule app reimagines recipes as a sensory experience, incorporating vibrant full-screen images and videos from the James Beard Award-winning ChefSteps kitchen team, all integrated seamlessly with your circulator. And intelligent, patent-pending features like Visual Doneness help take the guesswork out of cooking: Select from beautiful images and videos of finished dishes, and Joule will automatically adjust time and temperature settings based on how you want your food to turn out.
"For the last three years, ChefSteps videos have inspired our community and showed them the hows and whys of cooking, from traditional to more modern cooking techniques," said Grant Crilly, co-founder and chief content officer at ChefSteps. "Sous vide is one of the techniques we find a lot of value in, and with Joule we wanted to create a tool that continued that mission of guiding and educating, this time through hardware and the app that powers it, so that anyone can have a great sous vide experience. That means more than just making the best sous vide hardware; it means offering a catalog of original, easy-to-understand, integrated content for Joule that will grow based on what our community wants to learn."
Pricing and Availability
Joule is available for immediate preorder online at ChefSteps.com for the discounted price of $199 through January 15, 2016. ChefSteps Premium is included with your purchase of Joule, giving Joule users unlimited access to the full library of ChefSteps classes, recipes, and Joule cooking guides, now and in the future. Preorders will begin shipping in May 2016. Joule will retail for $299.

Tiggly And Sesame Workshop Create New Educational App That Bridges The Digital-Physical Divide
NEW YORK, Nov. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Tiggly, the award-winning makers of tablet smart toys for preschoolers, and Sesame Workshop have partnered to develop an exciting new connected app experience, SESAME STREET ALPHABET KITCHEN. Available Thursday, November 26(th), just in time for the holidays, this early literacy app invites kids to build words, explore language patterns and discover sounds while creating cookies with Cookie Monster.
What makes this product unique is the careful integration of physical gameplay with Tiggly Words toys. For the first time, children can play with their favorite Sesame Street Muppet(TM) friend, Cookie Monster, and their favorite Tiggly toys. With an engaging original storyline, new animated video developed specifically for the app and tactile play enabled with Tiggly Words, the app is an engaging educational experience for young learners.
Sesame Street Alphabet Kitchen app will be available as part of the Tiggly Words Learning System, but can also be played without Tiggly toys. The app addresses key educational and social needs of the preschool audience, and the physical play provides a powerful learning experience for preschoolers. For example, when children choose vowels to make new words, they hear all the letter sounds, and how they are blended to make complete words, which can strengthen early literacy skills. After making word cookies, kids have fun eating the cookies themselves or sharing them with Cookie Monster. Cookie Monster's silly reactions provide an opportunity to think about these kinds of social choices and he also models self-control while waiting for the cookies. All of this is possible because of Tiggly's cutting edge technology.
"New research tells us adding a tactile dimension to digital learning enhances children's learning experience on their tablets," said Dr. Azadeh Jamalian, Chief Learning Officer & Co-Founder of Tiggly. "It's truly an honor for us to see Sesame Workshop believe in our mission and support our important movement to bring physical play into children's digital sandbox."
"For over 45 years, Sesame Workshop's recipe for success lies in combining our research-driven curriculum with the sophisticated use of media and the latest technology," added Scott Chambers, SVP of Worldwide Media Distribution, Sesame Workshop. "Cookie Monster's hilarious obsession with his favorite food paired with key literacy lessons provides kids with a unique and engaging learning experience the whole family can enjoy."
Sesame Street Alphabet Kitchen will be available on Thursday, November 26(th), for download on the Apple App Store for $2.99, or is available for free as part of the Tiggly Words Learning System -- five specially designed vowel toys that interact with 4 included apps.
