Silent Circle today announced the official release of its Enterprise Privacy Platform: a revolutionary set of secure software, services and devices designed to deliver privacy to business and government organizations of all sizes.
"Building on the momentum of our Blackphone 2 launch, I'm proud to unleash all the work we have done on rebuilding our software and cloud-based Enterprise Privacy Platform," said Bill Conner, President and CEO of Silent Circle. "Our platform delivers unprecedented secure communications with the enterprise management controls necessary for auditing and general oversight." Conner continued: "Now governments and global enterprises have a new choice in secure communications that didn't exist before, across any Android or iOS device."
The new Silent Manager gives designated administrators a simple and easy way to oversee their organization's use of the Silent Circle platform through a web-based management interface. It provides at-a-glance overviews of current users, groups, and plans, as well as a newsfeed showing relevant Silent Circle information like updates to Silent Circle apps. "With the web management capability, administrators can add or remove users individually or in multiples - making Silent Circle accounts easy to deploy as needed," said Conner. Silent Manager also allows for the creation of subscription codes, which can be used to distribute services outside of email or traditional business environments.
The company's Silent Phone app, which encrypts VoIP and messaging services for any iOS or Android device, is now available in two subscription levels - Basic and Plus. Silent Phone Basic allows unlimited member-to-member encrypted voice calling and text messaging for an annual membership fee of $5. Silent Phone Plus provides full functionality to include conference calling, file transfers, attachments, voice mail and direct customer support for $9.95 per month.
Silent Phone is available at the Apple App store and Google Play.
Silent World - a new type of calling capability - is a feature of Silent Phone that provides enhanced security and flexibility on any mobile device (iOS or Android). It extends the reach of Silent Phone's encrypted calling to regular mobile and landline numbers to 439 destinations, allowing for private conversations to effectively anyone in the world - even to people who don't currently use Silent Phone.
The release of the Enterprise Privacy Platform comes shortly after the highly successful launch of Silent Circle's Blackphone 2, a smart-phone built from the ground up to be private by design and protect communication and data everywhere - not just inside company walls. "Blackphone 2 combines an enhanced Android operating system - Silent OS - and comes with the Silent Phone app pre-loaded. It's designed to keep your enterprise and personal information secure," adds Conner.
"Cyber security - and in particular the threats posed by data leakage from mobile devices - has become a critical issue for enterprise as organizations face persistent threats to the privacy and security of mobile communications" said Conner. "With escalating network surveillance and monitoring combined with sophisticated eavesdropping across global networks, the increased use of mobile devices in a business setting provides great opportunities but also great risk. Your company's information is likely to be compromised when mobile devices are used without sufficient consideration for privacy and security."
Andrew Pinder CBE, who was recently appointed to the company's Board Of Directors said "Silent Circle has matured into the world's most trusted solution for mobile and enterprise privacy - serving individuals, businesses and governments around the world with a truly revolutionary ecosystem of software, services and devices."
"Learning from the lessons of the attack on Sony, traditional security solutions have failed global enterprises," Pinder explained. "What's more, these breaches have evolved to have a much greater potential impact. They now put every customer, employee and partner at risk and are rapidly eroding the trust people have in enterprises. That's why Silent Circle has developed a platform with a range of powerful solutions - allowing any business to apply the combination of solutions that works best for them."

Load DynamiX Storage Performance Analytics Solutions Introduce New Level of Workload Visibility into Storage Infrastructure
Load DynamiX Enterprise 5.0 and Workload Sensors Simplify Workload Analysis and Modeling; Accelerate Performance Troubleshooting
SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Load DynamiX today announced new products and software modules, extending its industry-leading storage performance validation solutions to include real-time and historical workload visibility. Load DynamiX 5.0 includes an all-new automated workload acquisition and analysis solution (comprised of Workload Sensors, a Workload Data Importer, and a Workload Analyzer application) that provides comprehensive insight into application workload behavior and its impact on storage infrastructure performance. The new offerings mean that Load DynamiX, with its clear understanding of production workload I/O profiles, helps storage professionals right-size storage purchases and quickly mitigate performance issues.
Tweet this: Load DynamiX delivers holistic approach to architecting, optimizing, and troubleshooting storage infrastructure http://ctt.ec/M1baQ+
Storage professionals are constantly challenged to understand and predict how changes in application workload behavior and workload growth will impact storage performance. So far, there has been no easy solution to assist them. Existing approaches are typically vendor-specific; hence limited to infrastructure silos, and typically do not provide real time views into transient events. More importantly, traditional solutions do not correlate performance changes to workload behavior. These challenges meant that storage teams were resolved to serious under- and over-provisioning of storage infrastructure, along with substantial delays in troubleshooting performance problems within their production storage deployments.
"Most organizations know surprisingly little about the demands their applications present to their storage systems. Storage managers routinely specify systems with expensive performance headroom to account for their lack of workload knowledge," said Howard Marks, founder of DeepStorage.net. "Load Dynamix Workload Sensors and Workload Analyzers will, for the first time, give enterprises a full picture of their application's storage behavior and use that data to see how their applications will work on next generation storage systems."
Load DynamiX 5.0 offers storage teams an automated and simple way to acquire storage array and storage network workload data, and analyze that data for a holistic approach to architecting, optimizing, and troubleshooting storage infrastructure. The storage performance analytics capabilities within Load DynamiX Enterprise 5.0 include new solutions for real-time and historical workload acquisition and analysis. These solutions build upon traditional Load DynamiX strengths in storage workload modeling and workload generation.
Workload Acquisition
Load DynamiX Enterprise 5.0 has added two new ways to acquire actual production storage workloads, analyze those workloads, and automatically create workload models.
-- Load DynamiX Workload Sensors Load DynamiX Workload Sensors are
hardware-based sensor devices that enable storage engineers and
operations teams to capture network switch data and statistically
analyze the workloads in real-time. Using the switch SPAN ports or
optical TAPs on 10G Ethernet and Fibre Channel switches, this data can
be captured and then be imported into the Workload Analyzer module of
Load DynamiX Enterprise for further analysis and to generate a highly
accurate workload for replay in a test lab. This capture/analyze/replay
capability dramatically accelerates storage performance problem
identification and resolution.
-- Load DynamiX Workload Data Importer is part of Load DynamiX Enterprise
5.0 and imports any production array I/O data from the storage array
logs and other tools for workload profiling. It automates and simplifies
the workload modeling and creation process and provides out-of-the-box
policies for most major storage vendors or the ability to add profiles
from emerging vendors.
Workload Analysis
Before now, IT organizations had no fast and simple way analyze and characterize production workloads and their changing behaviors. Once acquired, production workload data can then be evaluated for performance planning and faster troubleshooting.
-- Load DynamiX Workload Analyzer is a new module of Load DynamiX
Enterprise that allows storage engineers to analyze temporal and spatial
workload behavior via powerful visualization to better understand
workload I/O patterns that affect storage performance. The Workload
Analyzer processes the data from both the Workload Data Importer and the
Workload Sensors. It creates a detailed workload profile that can be
used to automatically generate a highly accurate workload. These
workloads can then be applied to any file, block or object storage
system via a Load DynamiX Workload Generation Appliance to fully
evaluate its performance, to conduct what-if scenario analysis with
modified workloads, and to efficiently troubleshoot performance
problems.
"For years now, Load DynamiX has been leading the industry in storage performance validation and testing in pre-production environments," said Philippe Vincent, president and CEO of Load DynamiX. "But capturing and analyzing production workload data in an automated way remained elusive. It was an art form that our customers were continually challenged with. With our 5.0 release and its advanced storage performance analytics, we provide unparalleled insight into workload behavior and its effect on performance that turns the art form into science."
"The new Load DynamiX workload acquisition and analysis products are very innovative," said Christopher King, LinkedIn's former infrastructure architect. "They will significantly improve understanding of application workload behavior, which will help me more intelligently evaluate new storage technologies, make better storage deployment decisions, and accelerate problem resolution."

Key smart functions by the smart ship include the overall performance and status monitoring; ship status safety assessment; ship energy efficiency monitoring, analysis, assessment and optimization; engine room equipment and system operation, status and monitoring; engine room equipment operation, safety and performance analysis; engine room equipment maintenance including prediction and reliability, status assessment and maintenance optimization; sea route; ship navigation; navigational operation and control information analysis; environmental impact analysis; navigational optimization.
The companies involved plan to start construction September 2016 and deliver in 2017.
The entire ship will be run on smart systems, optimizing everything while maintaining safe operations.
Today, China's smart ship development aided by good policy and a highly technical environment. In May of this year, the State Council announced the "Made in China 2025" policy, encouraging a comprehensive implantation and manufacturing in China. As a high-tech ship, the smart ship is highlighted for priority development in Made in China 2025. In August, China published the Action Program for Promoting Big Data Development and vigorously developing big data has ascended as a national strategy.
China has accelerated smart ship research in recent years. Under the guidance of CSSC, CSSC Systems Engineering Research Institute launched the "Intelligent Information Management and Practical Technology Innovation Center for Marine Equipment" with NSF IMS in 2013, with the aim of boosting relevant core technology and product R&D.
In September 2015, CSSC Systems Engineering Research Institute and China Merchants Energy Transport Co., Ltd. signed the strategic cooperation agreement on "Ship and Shipping Intelligence," to drive industry and network integration, carry out intelligent technology applications in new-buildings and explore shipping information in new ways. School Zone's Little Scholar® Finds Huge Success in Tablet Market
Larger Screen and More Content Make Little Scholar Tablet the Best Value in the Kid Tablet Space
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Dec. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- In less than two years, School Zone's Little Scholar educational tablet has become a trailblazer in the preschool tablet marketplace, specializing in providing content that focuses on the essential learning skills that young kids will need later in the classroom. School Zone, one of the world's renowned publishers of kids' education tools and resources, launched the tablet to rave reviews in the media as well as numerous awards throughout the toy and educational industries.
For decades, the company has provided educational resources and tools for kids ages 3-9 years old. In 2014, the company identified the new ways in which kids of today are learning and, as a result, shifted much of its resources to developing the Little Scholar tablet. While its traditional line of materials continues to be extremely successful, entering the mobile tablet space was an endeavor the company knew it had to undertake.
"What makes Little Scholar better than the competition and the best value in the industry is not only the fact that our tablet has an 8" display area, making the screen 45% larger than typical 7" kids tablets, but that it also has an incredible amount of preloaded educational content. It takes about 70 hours for a child to just explore all the apps, videos, books and music created specifically for the tablet by our creative studio," said Jonathan Hoffman, CEO of School Zone Publishing. "Let me put it another way. When we look at our key competitors, our preloaded curriculum equates to somewhere between 200% and 500% more content, and ours covers the essential reading and math skills kids need for future success. Little Scholar, hands down, gives kids a better learning experience. If a child played Little Scholar for three hours a day, he or she would accomplish 1,000 hours of reading and math skill practice a year! These statistics are astonishing to me as a parent."
Just in time for the holiday season, Little Scholar is now available at Walmart.com, Toys "R" Us stores and Toysrus.com, Meijer stores and more. MSRP $129.99. Digital Payments Market to Leave Growing Pains Behind in 2016
LONDON, December 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
The "year of alternate payments" will see consumers dictating which payment
technologies gain buy-in from merchants in an overcrowded marketÂ
Worldpay predicts that the digital payments market will leave its growing pains behind
in 2016. The payments leader says next year will herald "the third age of digital
payments" now that eWallets are growing in popularity, NFC offerings from technology
vendors like Apple, Samsung, and Google are fighting for mass appeal, and both banks and
brands are rolling out their own mobile payment apps to compete for consumer loyalty.
2016 will also be a breakthrough year for Alternative Payment Methods (APMs), Worldpay
predicts. In its latest Global Payment Report, Worldpay found that APMs inched past card
payments for the first time ever with 51% of market share. Worldpay predicts this gap will
widen in 2016 and beyond as more consumers opt for the convenience of "e" payment options
over traditional plastic.
The report also predicts that eWallets will overtake credit cards in the global
eCommerce market by 2019, accounting for 27% of global turnover compared with credit
cards' 24%. Additional APMs will account for a significant portion of the remaining market
alongside traditional debit card, bank transfer and cash payments. Â
Worldpay also expects eWallets to come of age over the next five years, and consumers
to play the largest role in dictating which payment technologies come out on top in an
increasingly crowded and confusing environment.
Kevin Dallas, Chief Product Officer, Global eCommerce at Worldpay said: "The first age
of digital payments kicked off with the eCommerce boom in the early 2000s when companies
like PayPal and AliPay introduced eWallets to the mainstream. The second phase coincided
with the rise of the smartphone at the beginning of the decade, and we've since seen a
proliferation of new mobile apps that quickly raised the bar for convenience in payments."
Dallas added: "However, with so many options being rolled out so quickly, a sense of
app fatigue has begun to set in leaving both consumers and merchants unsure of which
approach is best and questioning the convenience of using multiple eWallets. I expect the
next few years will see a consolidation of the market as the public hones in on their
preferred payment methods and conscientious merchants feel more confident buying into
technologies that their customers have already embraced."
About the data: Â
The Global Payments Report was compiled using a combination of Worldpay's data and
insights, external findings from Euromonitor, Datamonitor and ystats.com, and secondary
data from over 100 independent sources. Â The forward-looking statements and figures
contained in the report are indicative predictions based on Worldpay's own data and
experience and should be treated as such.

Microsemi and Intrinsic-ID Team Up to Deliver Secure Boot Solution for Electronic Systems in the Government, Aerospace and Defense Markets
Collaboration Extends Microsemi's PUF-based Secure Boot Solution to High-end Altera & Xilinx FPGAs and SoCs
ALISO VIEJO, Calif. and SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Microsemi Corporation (Nasdaq: MSCC), a leading provider of semiconductor solutions differentiated by power, security, reliability and performance, and Intrinsic-ID, a leading provider of cyber physical security solutions based on physically unclonable functions (PUFs), today announced their joint development of a secure boot solution for mission critical electronic systems.
The new offering provides users unprecedented control and security over the provisioning at each start-up of sensitive boot code into programmable components such as field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) and system-on-chips (SoCs) from vendors like Altera and Xilinx. These components are often used for mission critical applications in military and aerospace, as well as in data centers and cloud computing, requiring the highest level of security.
Securing a system consisting of multiple components such as FPGAs and microprocessors poses a very complex challenge. In particular, the protection of software against tampering by attackers is critical. For systems that are being used in the most demanding environments to carry out the most critical operations, the best security technology must be used.
Microsemi and Intrinsic-ID offer a new approach to building a complete secure boot process, from silicon to the system level. The combination of Microsemi FPGAs and secure authentication protocols using PUFs provides complete system integrity and confidentiality protection for securely booting a complex electronic system.
"We are always excited to work with Microsemi, a leader in critical system security used in government, commercial and industrial markets, and help it push the boundaries of security for cyber physical systems," said Pim Tuyls, CEO and founder of Intrinsic-ID. "The fact that Microsemi has again entrusted Intrinsic-ID to provide the PUF solution confirms the robustness of our products for the most demanding environments."
Microsemi has designed a unique secure boot protocol for protecting third-party FPGA logic from being cloned, reverse engineered or tampered with. The company has introduced the power-efficient, small-footprint flash-based SmartFusion((TM))2 SoC FPGA to act as a secure boot manager. SmartFusion2 first performs its own built-in secure boot and then, acting as a root-of-trust, manages the additional large FPGAs and SoCs within the system with their secure boot. Sensitive encrypted bitstream or object code is sent via the SmartFusion2 FPGA to the target FPGAs or SoCs only after successful identification of the target device and authentication of its initial boot code using the Intrinsic-ID PUF. The sensitive code is authenticated and decrypted on the target device.
What makes this approach truly unique is that all devices' identities and secret keys are bound to the unique semiconductor physics of the device through the use of PUFs. All devices have a unique key that is generated on the device from uncontrollable--and thus unclonable--silicon nanoscale physical properties. This PUF secret key is bound to the device's hardware and never leaves the device. As the PUF key is not stored in memory when the device is powered off, the key is simply not there, making extraction by an attacker much more difficult.
"The unique PUF technology from Intrinsic-ID forms the trust anchor of the secure boot solution," said Esam Elashmawi, vice president and general manager at Microsemi. "After our successful collaboration on SmartFusion2 and IGLOO((TM))2 FPGAs, we are happy to further expand the relationship with Intrinsic-ID to include secure PUF designs for other FPGA platforms. The new offering will extend our secure boot solution to otherwise less secure third-party FPGAs."
The type of PUF used on the target FPGA is called a "butterfly PUF." It is a soft PUF that can be included in any FPGA design and consists of an array of circuits, each consisting of two cross-coupled memory elements that have a bi-stable output behavior. During operation each circuit is brought temporarily into a "conflicting state," and once released the circuit will settle into one of the two allowed states. This preferred state depends on the nanoscale physical properties of the silicon. The result is a device-unique random bit pattern. In addition to this new PUF design, Intrinsic-ID also provides the logic to generate a secure and reliable random key from this PUF. This key is used in the Microsemi secure boot protocol to uniquely identify the target device and authenticate the first code uploaded to it; then subsequently the user's sensitive code is uploaded, authenticated and decrypted, mitigating potential boot-time attacks such as monitoring, side-channel, man-in-the-middle, replay, relay and memory modification attacks conducted at the integrated circuit, circuit-board, system, or network level.
About Microsemi's SmartFusion2 SoC FPGAs
Microsemi's SmartFusion2 SoC FPGAs deliver more resources in low density devices, with the lowest power, highest levels of security and exceptional reliability. These devices are ideal for general purpose functions such as Gigabit Ethernet or dual PCI Express control planes, bridging functions, input/output (I/O) expansion and conversion, video/image processing, system management and secure connectivity. Microsemi SoC FPGAs are used by customers in communications, industrial, medical, defense and aviation markets. PCIe Gen 2 connectivity starts at just 10K logic elements (LEs). SmartFusion2 SoC FPGAs offer a 166MHz ARM Cortex-M3 processor with up to 512KB of embedded flash, triple-speed Ethernet, USB 2.0 OTG, CAN controllers and general purpose peripherals, with the highest max I/O per LE density. Philips announces expanded indications for its SkyFlow X-ray imaging software at RSNA 2015
-Advanced algorithm provides high-quality images of all anatomies for a grid-less workflow to enhance diagnostic confidence
-Grid-less workflow with SkyFlow reduces need for exam retakes caused by grid misalignment and the resulting unnecessary x-ray exposure
AMSTERDAM, Dec. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA) today announced SkyFlow, an X-ray imaging software that produces high-contrast images for all anatomies in situations where clinicians decide not to use a grid, at the 2015 Radiological Society of North America Annual Meeting (RSNA)(1). SkyFlow is Philips' first digital imaging solution providing grid-like contrast improvement and enhanced confidence for grid-less radiography, which improves clinician's workflow and supports "first-time-right imaging" by decreasing the need for retakes due to misalignment.
SkyFlow is a proven technology for bedside chest exams and will be expanded to include other anatomies. The imaging software reduces the effect of scattered radiation by using an algorithm that requires no operator input and automatically adjusts contrast enhancement based on the amount of scatter, giving clinicians a crisper image to improve their diagnostic confidence. A study found that radiographers using SkyFlow technology in a grid-less workflow for chest exams saw an average of 34 seconds of time savings per examination compared to workflow with a grid(2). SkyFlow can be used for all patient types, including bariatric cases.
"Philips understands the growing need of healthcare providers to increase cost savings while improving patient care," Robert Cascella, executive vice president and CEO, Philips Imaging. "SkyFlow helps providers meet these challenges by simultaneously increasing productivity and patient comfort through shorter examination times and more comfortable positioning without a grid."
High quality images, improved clinician efficiency
Often radiographers face challenging work environments due to varying patient conditions, tight spaces in the exam room, and the tangle of tubes and cords to navigate. Clinicians often choose not to use a grid in imaging to save time related to grid alignment and ensure patient comfort. Historically, grid-less imaging resulted in scattered radiation, causing a significant loss of image contrast, making it difficult for radiologists to make an accurate diagnosis. However, grid-less workflow with SkyFlow technology provides grid-like image contrast and enables faster, less error-prone workflows than other non-grid options.
"With SkyFlow, our chest images which don't use a grid are of a very high quality, and we look forward to seeing this enhancement used for other body parts and applications," said John Berns, Radiologic Technologist, Sint Maartenskliniek Hospital, Nijmegen, the Netherlands.
On Wednesday, Dec. 2, at RSNA in Chicago, Ill., Detlef Mentrup, PhD, Clinical Scientist from Philips, a lead developer of SkyFlow, and Roman Fischbach, MD, head of the Radiology and Neuroradiology Department, Asklepios Klinik Altona Hospital, Germany, will join other experts in a "Lunch and Learn" session open to event attendees and media. The session will cover how digital scatter correction offers a novel, patient-adaptive image processing that provides grid-like contrast enhancement for mobile radiographs without using an anti-scatter grid, and its impact on clinical image quality and workflow. This event will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. CT in the South Building, Room S403B.
Philips' X-ray imaging processing technology, including SkyFlow, is available through Philips' MobileDiagnost wDR and DigitalDiagnost solutions. Philips is showcasing its entire diagnostic X-Ray suite in booth #6736 at RSNA through Dec. 4. Kii introduces its Thing Interaction Framework to simplify and speed up Internet of Things development
SAN MATEO, Calif., Dec. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Kii, the leading Internet of Things (IoT) cloud platform provider, has announced the availability of its new platform functionality, Thing Interaction Framework, which allows IoT solutions developers to simplify and speed up the development of both business/industrial and consumer-focused IoT solutions.
An extension of the Kii Cloud, the new framework specifically focuses on common IoT use cases around sensor-cloud-app interactions (like sensor state registration/retrieval, trigger-driven command execution on devices, etc.) and significantly reduces server code that would otherwise be needed to implement them.
This enhancement incorporates a number of best practices involved in implementing interactions between the various moving parts in a typical IoT solution - like devices, services, apps, states, commands, triggers, etc. Thing (sensor/device) manufacturers and mobile app developers can adapt and customize the framework through new and updated SDKs.
"Thing Interaction Framework extends Kii's commitment to simplify and speed up IoT solution development," explains Phani Pandrangi, Chief Product Officer at Kii. "With this framework providing most of the server side functionality pre-packaged (yet customizable) for a variety of use cases, our customers can focus on the specifics of their solution and implement complex interactions with mostly client side coding."
This framework also facilitates interoperability between different IoT solutions. The abstraction provided by the framework exposes clean interfaces to the state data, actions, commands and triggers of sensors/devices, thereby making creation of interoperability logic easier and more modular than ever before.
