DCD Expands Digital Dentistry Business with Additional Stratasys 3D Printer

German dental lab, DCD, has moved from traditional dental plaster moulds to
3D printed models, increasing quality and productivity, now with an additional 3D printer
Since introducing Stratasys 3D printing into its workflow in January 2012, the company
has been able to 3D print dental and ortho models, better quality to those produced
manually, in a much shorter timeframe and at a significantly lower cost.

Based in Frankfurt, DCD has over 30 years' experience as an independent dental
laboratory and has been delivering dental solutions to dental practices nationwide and

BEIJING, August 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Shanda Games Limited (NASDAQ: GAME, "Shanda Games"), a leading online game developer, operator and publisher in China, today announced, as part of its efforts to further strengthen the mobile strategy, the launch of "G-Home", a mobile game platform and 36 new mobile games in the pipeline.
Shanda Games' Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Xiangdong Zhang, and President, Mr. Tunghai Chien, spoke today at the Company's mobile conference "Mobile is the Future" in Beijing. The conference was kicked off with a series of numbers listed by Mr. Zhang that capsulized the achievements Shanda Games has made in 12 years -- cumulatively a total of approximately 1.8 billion accounts, 1 billion active accounts, and 100 million paying accounts. Among the 100 million paying accounts, 20 million are active VIP accounts who have contributed a total of approximately RMB24 billion to Shanda Games' revenues. This group of committed users constitutes the most valuable internet user base in the industry.
Encompassing various functions including Uni-Passport, Uni-Virtue Currency, Customer Services, G-Q Social Community and G-Games, the App G-Home positions itself as a "flagship game center" aiming to vertically integrate high-end users, high-quality contents and premier services. G-Home plans to publish only the top 1% of mobile games selected from the market. IO Intelligent Control Platform More Energy Efficient in Arizona Installation
Arizona Public Service Shows Modular Data Center Saves Energy
PHOENIX, Aug. 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- IO, a global leader in software-defined data centers, today announced that a third-party evaluation by Arizona Public Service (APS) showed that a modular data center technology installation in IO's Phoenix facility has achieved 19% energy cost savings quantified by its improved Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) ratings. APS findings confirmed that IO's manufactured, modular approach at this location is more efficient than the traditional raised-floor data center environment.
In its third-party evaluation, APS analyzed 12 months of data from both IO.Anywhere(®) modules and the traditional build-out located at the IO Phoenix data center. APS monitored PUE for calendar year 2012 and found the Data Center 1.0 (traditional build-out environment) had a PUE of 1.73, while the Data Center 2.0 (IO.Anywhere modular data center environment) had a PUE of 1.41, both well below the industry average. That efficiency gain translates into an annual savings of $200,000 per MW of average IT power within the IO.Anywhere modular build-out.
PUE is an industry measurement of how efficiently a data center uses power; specifically, how much of the power is actually used by the computing equipment (in contrast to cooling and other overhead). Uptime Institute has placed the global average PUE of 1.8-1.9 for traditionally designed data centers (Data Center 1.0) and benchmark studies in Asian markets have shown PUEs over 2.0.
"Our calculations did show that the IO.Anywhere modular data center uses less energy than a traditional data center build-out, at least in the case of this IO data center," said Wayne Dobberpuhl, APS Energy Efficiency Program Manager. "Moving forward, we are working with IO to establish the right baseline for assessing the appropriate rebate for this efficiency work under our Solutions for Business program."
"The portion of PUE above 1.0 denotes energy not going to IT equipment, and that's where efficiencies can be found. We've reduced this portion from 0.73 down to 0.41 in our switch to the IO.Anywhere modular data center, which we recognize as a 44% reduction in energy spent on infrastructure versus primary business applications," said Patrick Flynn, Lead Sustainability Strategist, IO.

IO Phoenix utilizes both traditional and modular data center environments, providing a unique position to partner with APS on a comparative PUE evaluation. The following parameters were put in place, so APS and IO could create an 'apples to apples' comparison rather than comparing disparate geographic locations with different operations staff. The local temperatures, humidity, IT load and operating practices can affect PUE and it would be misleading to compare PUEs among different data center locations. The APS calculation measured energy efficiency of the IO real-world production data center running a mix of enterprise equipment and applications - not specialized, single purpose environments.

The XCOM-6400 is a Type 6 Basic COM Express module that is available with a choice of Intel's 4-generation Core i7 or i5 Haswell CPU and Intel's 8-Series QM87 PCH chipset, formerly known as Lynx Point. An innovative SODIMM hold-down method ensures secure connections while still allowing users to remove or upgrade the memory. Ruggedly designed for use in defense, aerospace, and industrial applications; this COM Express module features an extra-thick circuit board, advanced thermal management, and extended operating temperature ranges. A variety of model configurations start at $1995 which includes an installed heat spreader plate.
The XCOM-6400 provides heat sink capabilities not available on traditional COM Express designs. Conduction-cooled rails establish a new design opportunity for carrier cards. Additional heat management technologies include heat spreader plates plus options such as cooling fins and a fan.

Soldering down the memory is no longer necessary," explained Joseph Primeau, Acromag's sales and marketing director. A screw-down latch securely fastens the memory in place to prevent it from shaking loose and also serves as a conduction plate to help wick away heat. Removing the latch provides user access to two memory slots that support up to 16GB of high-speed DDR3L available in 1 x 4GB, 2 x 4GB, and 2 x 8GB configurations.
The 4th generation of Intel's Core i5 and i7 processors (codename Haswell) delivers many enhanced capabilities for media, graphics, security, and power management. Huge performance improvements were made for floating-point-intensive computations which are critical for digital signal and image processing applications like radar and sonar. Enhanced graphics enable smoother playback of high-quality images. Better power efficiency reduces heat and allows smaller, lighter, more portable designs. Acromag offers a high-performance quad core i7 CPU (2.4GHz, 47W) and more efficient dual core i5 CPU (1.6GHz, 25W).
The platform controller hub is Intel's 8-Series QM87 PCH chipset (codename Lynx Point) which provides faster connectivity and flexibility with integrated I/O technologies. For graphics, the module uses an Intel integrated graphics processor with support for a 3x digital display interface (DVI or DisplayPort) and eDP interface (x2). Audio is supported through an HDA interface. The LAN Port is a Gigabit Ethernet Medium Dependent Interface (MDI). Other I/O interfaces include four SATA III ports (6 Gb/s), a PEG / general-purpose PCIe x16 interface with bifurcation/trifurcation support, four USB 3.0/2.0 ports, and four USB 2.0 ports. Users can access the SPI bus, LPC bus, SMBus (system), and I(2)C (user). There are also four general-purpose outputs and four general-purpose inputs. Security and encryption capabilities are facilitated through use of a Trusted Platform Module (TPM).
