Amdocs Unveils Industry's First Elastic Policy Control Solution
New virtualization deployment options for Amdocs network control products will lower costs, improve scalability and accelerate introduction of new service models
NICE, France, May 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- At TM Forum's Management World 2013,Amdocs (NYSE: DOX), the leading provider of customer experience systems and services, today announced the industry's first complete, virtualized network control offering. The new virtualized deployment options for Amdocs' suite of network control products enable service providers to accelerate the introduction of new services while taking full advantage of standard off-the-shelf hardware to reduce costs. The virtualization solution will be supported on key Amdocs network control products widely deployed today, including Amdocs Policy Controller (PCRF), Amdocs Home Subscriber Server, and Amdocs Subscriber Data Broker.
Amdocs' modular, virtualized environments offer service providers improved elasticity around performance and scalability at a lower cost by breaking the traditional linkage between function and hardware. This virtualized environment - characterized by distributed software architecture, self-contained application clusters with no scale limitations, and no dependency on centralized session/state storage - also enables easy expansion, operation and in-service upgrades.
In addition to these key benefits around performance and scalability, Amdocs' virtualized network control solutions will enhance service agility, allowing for rapid introduction of services that can be targeted at specific subscribers and/or geographies (such as enterprise, mobile virtual network operator and machine-to-machine) including dynamic quality of service on demand. Consistent with Amdocs' approach, these products offer multi-network support and extensive interoperability with network elements, enabling ease of deployment in mixed vendor heterogeneous network (HetNet) environments.

The virtues of an Electrone Americas Ltd. USB keypad with display
ORLANDO, Fla., May 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- User-friendly and cost-efficient keypads suit a wide variety of applications. They are a match made in heaven for health clubs, gyms, and yoga and martial arts studios. For martial arts studios in particular, which tend to attract a younger clientele, a keypad with display offers an easy--and forgiving--solution to monitoring attendance.
Here is a telling example of how a keypad with display can fulfill a need like nothing else. David Dye, the operator of Shuyokan Ryu Martial Arts Center in Costa Mesa, California, needed a way his students, who start at age seven, could enter their ID number directly into the Martial Arts Organizer software program. His software provider, martialartsorganizer.com, offered some hardware on their site, but no key pads. Martial arts organizer offered a bar code scanner, which was more expensive and complex, requiring students to remember their cards and scan them properly. They was also the option of an off-the-shelf keypad, which Dye tried, but the problem with that was if a number was entered wrong, there was no way of fixing the mistake. Another child's number, or a nonexistent number, would be counted on the attendance record.
Dye was clear about what he needed for optimal efficiency: a numeric keypad with a display so the student can see the numbers as entered, with a backspace key to correct errors. Once the number was inputted accurately, Dye wanted an Enter or Green button to enter the number into the software program. "Above all, I needed it to be kept simple," says Dye, "so that a seven-year-old could use it without problems.
