PortableApps.com and Custom USB launch the PortableApps.com Carbide flash drive
The Safest, Most Secure USB Flash Drive on Earth: military-grade hardware encryption, 5 years of commercial USB antivirus, 5 year warranty, portable software, personalized, and incredible
NEW YORK, May 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- PortableApps.com, the world leader in portable software, and CustomUSB, a leading memory products manufacturer, have teamed up to produce the PortableApps.com Carbide, the world's most secure, safe, compatible, and functional hardware-encrypted USB flash drive. Carbide combines military grade hardware encryption, a universal PIN code unlock, 'everything'-proof construction, personalization, a full suite of portable software, 5 years of award-winning commercial USB antivirus protection, and an industry-leading 5-year warranty into a flash drive like no other.
Securing data on the go is a top concern for individuals, businesses and governments. To that end, the Carbide uses AES 256-bit hardware encryption using an SHA-256 hashing cryptographic algorithm. The drive is FIPS 140-2 Level 3 certified as well as IP57 and MIL-STD-810F, so it's not only secured from hackers, but it also resists water, dust, shock and physical tampering. If a third party enters the wrong PIN multiple times, the data will be rendered inaccessible. Additionally, the drive is filled with epoxy, so an attempt to disassemble it to get at the data results in the physical destruction of the memory chips.
Unlike most encrypted drives that only work with Windows and Mac, the physical PIN code entry on the side of the drive allows for universal compatibility. The drive can be unlocked and used with nearly any device with a USB port including Windows, Mac and Linux computers; Android devices with USB on the go support; televisions; photo printing kiosks and more. And, since the encrypted drive is unlocked before being plugged into the computer, you're protected from both physical and software keyloggers that could be waiting to learn your drive's password.
In addition to the physical and security defenses of the Carbide drive, the drive is also protected from viruses by ClevX DriveSecurity(TM) powered by ESET. The award-winning ESET NOD32® antivirus engine scans any change to the drive's content for viruses, spyware, trojans, worms, rootkits, adware and other Internet threats. And Carbide includes a full 5-year license for DriveSecurity, years longer than other high-end flash drives, with a retail value of over $40 all by itself.
On the productivity side, the Carbide comes with a full suite of portable software that works on any Windows computer as well as Mac and Linux machines with the Wine compatibility layer. The suite of software includes the Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition web browser, the Microsoft-Office compatible LibreOffice suite, the Photoshop-compatible GIMP photo and image editor, the Adobe Illustrator-compatible Inkscape vector image editor, the Scribus desktop publishing suite, Pidgin instant messenger, KeePass secure password manager, Sumatra PDF reader, CoolPlayer+ media player and more. The software is all managed and automatically kept up to date through the award-winning PortableApps.com Platform. Over 300 additional free apps are available in the included app store.
"The PortableApps.com Carbide is quite simply the most secure and useful USB flash drive ever sold and CustomUSB has helped us put everything together. It's exactly what we were looking for in a portable software and hardware solution and we're thrilled to be able to make it available to security-minded people all over the world," said PortableApps.com founder John T. Haller.
"The software is top-notch. The platform is very intuitive and easy to use," said Vadim Molo of CustomUSB. "It's been a real pleasure working with John and the PortableApps.com team."
The PortableApps.com Carbide is available in 8GB, 16GB and 32GB sizes starting at under $90. Custom laser etching of a name or URL is included at no additional charge. The drive is backed by an industry-leading 5 year warranty and includes a 30-day no-hassle return policy. Carbide is packaged in a high-quality gift and storage tin. The drive is available for immediate purchase directly from: http://worldsbestflashdrive.com/
Custom corporate builds with custom casing, branded software and volume pricing are also available by contacting PortableApps.com.

Your Next Car's Electrical System Will be Designed Completely Over the Internet!
CHENNAI, India and BURR RIDGE, Ilinois, May 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
British company Cadonix is proud today to be launching a ground breaking product that
will change the way automotive design is performed.
Introducing Arcadia, the world's first cloud-based general & automotive CAD tool,
offering schematic design, animated circuit simulation & analysis, electrical networking,
harness design and full design rule checking.
Using a fine balance of cloud back-end and HTML5 front-end the team at Cadonix have
achieved what would have thought to be impossible even a year ago, fully scalable vector
graphic CAD editing at an enterprise level all accessible from a compliant web browser.
Traditionally such software required a large client footprint, network based licensing
servers, a large IT support presence and was file-based with long response times from the
software manufacturer to upgrade features and functionality. In a single blow Cadonix have
removed all the customers pain points to present a scalable, future-proof solution.
Offering an end-to-end solution from conception to fully produced harness design,
cutting lists, bill of materials and design rule reporting from anywhere an engineer cares
to be located, Arcadia offers a quantum leap in flexibility over the competition. For ease
of distribution, licence management and minuscule footprint Arcadia is set to be a hit
with IT support as well as engineers. There is even an Arcadia 'app' to keep those
engineers and service technicians on the road happy by providing full access to their
schematic and harness designs; hinting a mobile future for the platform.
Currently launching right now at the 13th annual Electrical Wire Processing Technology
Expo in the Milwaukee - USA, Arcadia is proving that UK companies can still turn out world
class engineering solutions. With several of the biggest UK and international automotive
companies interested in the product, it looks like the next car you will be driving could
well have been designed using Arcadia.
When asked, a company founder, Andrew Armstrong stated that harness wiring was merely
the beginning of the toolset that will be provided by Arcadia and that CAD and design
management tools for all industry sectors are on their way, including aeronautical, rail
and military wiring solutions.

Oclaro Offers High-Power 633 nm Single-Mode Red Laser Diode for Biomedical, Inspection and Measurement Applications
System designers can increase measurement speed and accuracy using new 100mW HL63163DG laser
SAN JOSE, Calif., May 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Oclaro, Inc.( )(NASDAQ: OCLR), a tier-one provider and innovator of optical communications and laser solutions, today announced the release of the HL63163DG red laser diode at 633 nm wavelength providing 100 mW single-transverse-mode optical output power for the biomedical, inspection and measurement marketplace. The Oclaro HL63163DG red laser presents a compact alternative to existing bulky Helium-Neon (He-Ne) gas lasers that exhibit lower energy efficiency.
Leveraging existing technologies used for Oclaro lasers in the 637 to 642 nm range, the focus in developing the HL63163DG laser was to enable system designers to increase measurement accuracy, stability and speed essential for biomedical and inspection applications, while reducing power consumption and footprint. These laser performance characteristics have traditionally been experienced only while using large He-Ne gas lasers. The newly-introduced HL63163DG now offers low power consumption of only 0.4 W at 100 mW operation in the 633 nm wavelength band, and comes in a highly-compact 5.6 mm-diameter TO industry-standard package.
"We expect to see the HL63163DG laser cannibalize the He-Ne gas lasers market since we've been able to shrink the laser size and lower the power consumption without compromising the performance attributes needed for the biomedical and inspection markets," said Takayuki Kanno, President, Oclaro Japan and GM of the Modules and Devices Business Unit. "The industry has long been waiting on a semiconductor laser solution, and Oclaro was able to overcome the design challenges to offer a laser diode capable of delivering a high power 633 nm beam."
Oclaro offers one of the industry's broadest, most comprehensive portfolios of high performance, visible and near infrared laser diode products, ranging from 1 mW to 2 KW, and 405 nm to 1500 nm, based on more than 30 years of innovative laser heritage. The company will showcase its portfolio of visible and near-infrared laser devices, and VCSEL products and technology at the Laser World of Photonics conference, May 13-16, 2013, at the Messe Munchen Trade Fair Center in Munich, Germany. Visit Oclaro at Hall C1, Booth 370.
Oclaro customers will have access to working samples of the HL63163DG red laser starting now, with volume production expected to begin in August, 2013. For additional information or sample requests, please contact any one of the Oclaro sales office.

Latest Philips Offering Reduces LED Count in Retrofit Lamps by 50 Percent
Philips Lumileds latest innovation in mid-power LEDs achieves up to 140 lm/W efficacy
SAN JOSE, Calif., May 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Philips Lumileds today introduced the LUXEON 3535 2D, which combines two LED chips in a package to enable reduction in LED count and cost of designing retrofit lamps, consumer downlights and diffuse industrial lamps. Best-in-class efficacy of 140 lm/W is achieved for cool white light at 4000K and minimum 80 CRI.
"This is an exciting breakthrough, because lighting designers can take advantage of a high lumen package with high efficacy while using significantly fewer chips per fixture," says Rahul Bammi, VP of Product Management at Philips Lumileds. "For example, a 50W PAR20 lamp can be achieved using only four LEDs. Alternatively, a 40W A19 lamp that previously required 14 LEDs can now be created using only six."
The new mid-power LEDs are offered across a full spectrum of correlated color temperatures (2700K-6500K) with a minimum CRI of 80. Versions with CRI 70 for outdoor applications and CRI 90 for high end indoor applications are planned for future release.
The LUXEON 3535 2D line operates at 0.5 - 1W, delivering up to 130 lumens in the compact 3535 form factor. Rated at 100mA, the LUXEON 3535 2D can be driven up to a maximum of 200mA. The LUXEON 3535 2D supports ENERGY STAR® certification requirements up to 25,000 hours at 85 degrees C and 150mA.
Low-power LEDs
In addition to the expansion of its mid-power offering, Philips Lumileds also introduced its first low-power LED solution today, the LUXEON 4014. This rectangular LED is a high efficacy LED that was designed to specifically address linear and omnidirectional lighting applications such as under-cabinet and cove, refrigerator lighting and the retrofit LED market. Delivered in a 4.0x1.4x0.7 mm footprint, the LUXEON 4014 line can achieve an efficacy of 160 lm/W at 4000K and CRI of 80.

The next Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) could mark 230 days since the
company's last keynote event - but what should people expect to come out of the Keynote on
June 10?
Apple CEO Tim Cook has been unusually open about plans for the future. He told
analysts that they have "amazing" new hardware and software services in development, but
they won't be introduced until at least September and throughout 2014 - although it has
been stressed by some that these dates were only hinted at.
This has countered the belief of analysts who expected new Apple products this summer.
It could also mark a whole year since Apple's last major product launch event which was in
October 2012 for the iPad Mini.
To make it worse for Apple's ardent fans, the main billings of June's WWDC are the
next versions of iOS and OS X - There is little guarantee of any new Apple products.
Regardless of what may happen in June, rumours have been circulating about the next
generation of Apple products. The California company is apparently getting ready for the
production of the iPad 5 and the iPad Mini 2. The rumours around the next instalment of
the iPhone suggest Apple will skip the 5s model and move straight onto the 6.
Previously, the longest wait the public has had to endure for a new Apple product was
the 132-day gap between 2010's MacBook Air and the iPad Two.
Whatever the rumours or release dates, The Snugg will be ready with high quality iPad
cases [http://www.thesnugg.com/ipad-cases ]. The device protection specialists have a
range of colourful, practical and stylish Apple cases and Kindle covers

Les Yates, Marketing Manager at The Snugg [http://www.thesnugg.com ], said: "We are
very excited about what Apple has in store next and will have our own next generation of
covers and cases ready to be released. As with all our products they will be specifically
designed for Apple's new range of i products.
"The Snugg can't wait to make a step forward along with Apple - whenever it happens -

drinkers (i.e. those that drink it often or sometimes). The margin of
error on the full base --which measures sampling variability--is +/-
1.6%, 19 times out of 20. The results have been statistically weighted
according to education, age, gender and region (and in Quebec language)
Census data to ensure a sample representative of the entire adult

The careful selection of materials and focus on craftsmanship ensures that the headphones patinate beautifully and create a personalized look as time goes by.

Xi3 Corporation Unveils its FreeForm dataCENT3R Project at Interop Las Vegas 2013
Designed to showcase that "Data Centers no longer need to fit into traditional rooms and racks," the first FreeForm dataCENT3R Project features a sweeping curved design spanning nearly 8x7x2-feet in a wheeled construct capable of simultaneous support of up to 96 grapefruit-sized Xi3 Modular Computers or Xi3 microSERV3Rs in a clustered design for distributed Data Centers, mobile supercomputing, multimedia rendering and more
SALT LAKE CITY and LAS VEGAS, May 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Xi3( )Corporation today announced it will unveil its FreeForm(TM) dataCENT3R(TM) Project at the Interop Las Vegas trade show that starts later today at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas and runs through May 9.
Xi3's first FreeForm dataCENT3R Project is a wheeled metal structure featuring seven curved steel bars framed by two side support bars and a flat metal base. The sweeping design of this FreeForm dataCENT3R construct measures four to eight feet tall, seven feet wide and two feet deep (94.5x82.5x21.0-inches, Height-Width-Depth) and can simultaneously support from 48 to 96 Xi3(®) Modular(TM) Computers or Xi3 microSERV3Rs(TM) in a sleek, clustered deployment.
According to Dictionary.com, FreeForm is defined as "not organized or planned in a conventional way," "function(s) or evolve(s) without advance planning; spontaneous" and "without restrictions or preconceptions."
"For decades, I.T. Administrators and Professionals have been handcuffed into a paradigm that says Data Centers have to be built a certain way," said Jason A. Sullivan, Xi3 founder, President and CEO. "That is no longer the case. With the birth of the Xi3 Computer Architecture and our small, energy efficient computers and servers, Data Centers no longer need to fit into traditional rooms and racks. FreeForm dataCENT3Rs do not need special rooms and can be cooled by ambient air. We also think that with Xi3, Data Centers can now be conceived as architectural elements, as design statements, as art. We look forward to working with our customers and partners to explore and define new ways of designing Data Centers with our FreeForm dataCENT3R Project."
Because Xi3 Modular Computers and microSERV3Rs are housed in softball-size chassis with a maximum external measurement of 4.27x3.66x3.66-inches, Xi3 and its customers can re-imagine how and where they can deploy servers or clustered computers. As shown with its initial FreeForm dataCENT3R Project, Xi3 can also distribute servers or clustered computers virtually anywhere within an organization in virtually any configuration or shape. The result is more machines in less space, either in a mobile or stationary platform, and dramatically reduced operating costs.
"FreeForm dataCENT3Rs use ambient air cooling, require less physical infrastructure per installation, and can take virtually any shape or configuration--ranging from a mural-like wall installation featuring multi-colored chassis to a FreeForm dataCENT3R shaped like a pyramid," Sullivan explained. "Xi3's FreeForm dataCENT3R construct allows organizations to have near-edge servers and data physically closer to those doing the work. Taken together, this creates better organizational load balancing, a Power Usage Effectiveness ratio (PUE) near 1.0, and a lower overall Total Cost of Ownership per FreeForm dataCENT3R installation."
Xi3 Modular Computers and Xi3 microSERV3Rs can run 64-bit, x86-based operating systems, such as Windows 8 and lower (including enterprise editions), and most Linux and UNIX OS variants. Xi3 believes its FreeForm dataCENT3R Project is an ideal candidate for organizations looking for a compact, beautifully designed solution for clustered computing challenges, including
-- scientific modeling,
-- High Performance Computing (HPC) for mathematical computations,
number-crunching and supercomputing,
-- symmetric, multiprocessing (SMP) systems,
-- Beowulf clusters,
-- distributed data centers,
-- Hadoop clusters,
-- Web servers,
-- computer game tournament systems/solutions,
-- and more.
"Coupling Xi3's low-power consumption servers or computers with our FreeForm dataCENT3Rs creates an unbeatable combination," Sullivan said. "No other company offers I.T. pros 64-bit x86-based servers/computers that are as small or as energy efficient as Xi3 microSERV3Rs and Xi3 Modular Computers. Add into the equation Xi3's new FreeForm dataCENT3R construct and you end up with a new calculus when it comes to defining how organizations can create and deploy servers or clustered computers in new and unique settings."
Xi3's FreeForm dataCENT3R Project and other Xi3 product offerings will be on display in Booth #1359 at Interop Las Vegas 2013.
For additional information about Xi3's FreeForm dataCENT3R Project, please visit the Xi3 booth at Interop Las Vegas, call 801-478-3800, or visit http://www.Xi3.com/FreeForm-at-Interop.

Smart Parking Reimagined - Parker 4.0 Drives Into App Store!
Award-winning parking guidance app for the iPhone features one-click turn-by-turn voice navigation, updated design, and more than 23,000 garage locations
FOSTER CITY, Calif., May 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Streetline, Inc. today unveiled a new release of its award-winning parking guidance application, Parker(TM) by Streetline. Parker 4.0 is now available for the iPhone and features a clean, updated design; an easy-to-use side panel menu; and one-click turn-by-turn voice navigation--further enhancing the hands-free capabilities of the app.
Parker displays open on-street parking in real time, as well as available parking at garages and nearby parking lots, by tapping data from Streetline's real-time sensor network in more than 35 locations globally and parking garage and lot data for more than 23,000 off-street locations. Since the app was first introduced in December 2010, Parker by Streetline has recorded more than 100 million parking "events" and was recently named Best Mobile Innovation for 'Smart Cities' at the 2013 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
"Streetline introduced the world's first parking guidance app in 2010 and has since continued to spark the imagination for how technology can change the way we think about parking," said Zia Yusuf, president and CEO of Streetline, Inc. "With this latest release of Parker, Streetline again raises the bar for what consumers can expect from parking guidance apps, making it even easier for motorists to locate parking so they can go about spending their time on the more important activities of their day."
"With Parker, our goal was to go beyond just helping drivers locate a parking space; we want them to find the right space," added Vito Salvaggio, Senior Vice President, Product Management of Streetline, Inc. "Parker allows users to search by parking type - metered space, garage/lot, ADA accessible, or electric vehicle charging stations. The app shows available parking relative to your current location and also lets motorists filter spots by price."
Some of the key features of Parker 4.0 include:
-- Real-time information in select areas to guide consumers to open and
available parking spaces; Parker updates automatically when a car is
parked or leaves;
-- Ability to toggle between availability and price, including real-time
updates as prices are changed or updated;
-- Easy access to rates, hours, and time limits for metered, on-street, and
garage/lot parking;
-- Side panel navigation gives user access to filters, price toggle, places
and satellite view;
-- Search field with enhanced ability to find parking by address or points
of interest (e.g., coffee, gas station);
-- Enhanced filters allowing users to set criteria, such as EV charging
stations, ADA spaces, on-street or garages/lots only, or specific
payment options (coins, credit card, mobile payments);
-- Park function allows user to note where a car is parked (and later find
guidance back to the car), set reminders, and other options including
mobile payment (where available);
-- Ability to select display preference to show the number of available
spaces or price;
-- One-click access to turn-by-turn voice navigation that guides you to
available parking
"In designing the app, we tried to focus on the things that matter most to the user," added Salvaggio. "Because parking availability changes very quickly and drivers don't want to show up at a space that's no longer available, unlike other guidance apps that have emerged, our first priority is to provide accurate and reliable real-time data to drivers at all times."
"Because there are so many little businesses downtown, we are essentially competing for customers. It's important to do things to improve customer experience and get more people through the door. Apps like Parker by Streetline help us to do just that. Being able to direct customers to spaces right outside my store is one way to set Vanilla Moon apart from the competition," said Christie Perego, owner of Vanilla Moon, San Carlos, Calif.
"Montclair State needed an app that lets our students know where parking is available. Parker was the logical choice. I like the new format and larger buttons in Parker 4.0," said Perry H. Eggleston, MPA, Director of Parking Services, Montclair State University.
Lauren Blaine, President, Blaine Artist Management, Los Angeles, Calif., stated, "As a busy music industry professional, I have meetings with clients all over Los Angeles. This can be a very stressful business so the last thing I want to stress about is finding parking! Parker helps me quickly find a spot so I can arrive on time and make a good, stress-free impression."
"I'm constantly exploring new restaurants and bars in LA and Hollywood, but parking can be a real pain - especially when I'm rushing to meet someone after work. With Parker I don't have to get there early to leave time to find parking, I just open the app, park, and don't have to worry about being the last one at the table!" said Jessica Hopkins, Executive Assistant, Los Angeles, Calif.

About Streetline, Inc.
Streetline's mission is to make smart cities a reality through the use of sensor-enabled mobile and web applications. Streetline's pioneering technology makes the parking experience for consumers easier, while making cities and university campuses more efficient.
Already deployed in more than 30 locations in both the U.S. and Europe, Streetline's patented smart parking platform detects the presence of a car through a network of ultra-low power wireless sensors located in individual parking spaces. Data from these sensors, or from counting equipment installed in parking garages and lots, is then made available in real time via various cloud-based applications, such as Parker(TM), the leading mobile app for consumers, and - soon - in-car navigation systems. Earlier this year, Streetline introduced ParkerMap(TM), an embeddable widget that allows merchants, universities, cities, and parking providers to easily showcase nearby parking options via any website.
Streetline is a privately-held company headquartered in Foster City, CA with smart parking deployments in Germany, the U.K., and across the United States including California, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, South Carolina, Virginia, and Washington, DC. The company was named one of Fast Company's 10 Most Innovative Companies in Transportation, as well as IBM Global Entrepreneur of the Year. Streetline was named Best Mobile Innovation for 'Smart Cities' for Parker at the 2013 Mobile World Congress.

includes two DECT 6.0 cordless handsets and a cordless headset. It
allows users to connect up to two cellphones to the phone base in a
location with strong cellular service while answering calls from the
handset or headset. If there are two cellphones and a landline connected
to the system, all three lines can be answered from any handset or
headset.
-- For the value-driven consumer, VTech's CS6729/6829/6529 and CS6859 are
affordable and feature-rich with digital answering systems, caller ID,
call waiting and a power-saving eco mode. The CS6859 serves as two
phones in one with a large display and keypad on the base for easy
speakerphone dialing when the handset is in another room. The CS6529
comes in eight vibrant colors, and the very affordable CS6719 comes in
three color options: silver, red, and blue.
-- For seniors and their caregivers, VTech's CareLine(TM) home telephone
and personal communication system enables seniors to live independent
lifestyles and gives families confidence in their loved ones' ability to
easily connect with them.
"People have busy lifestyles and diverse communication needs that the 2013 VTech phone line addresses with a range of smart features, price points and unique designs," said Matt Ramage, senior vice president, product management, VTech Communications, Inc. "We continue to bring our home wireless communications expertise into new categories that deliver unique benefits to consumers, such as the video doorbell phone for discerning homeowners and the CareLine phone system for seniors. This year's product line reflects consumer needs for home telephone products that make their lives easier and lines of communication stronger."
Take the Guesswork Out of Guests at the Door
The VTech IS7121-2 (MSRP $119.95) video doorbell phone system delivers a cost-effective option to homeowners concerned or curious about front door visitors. The two-in-one cordless system and video monitor combines a versatile landline phone, multiple handsets and an easy-to-install digital camera on the doorbell. When an individual rings the doorbell, a photo is instantly and discreetly taken and sent to each phone handset. A homeowner can then choose to enable the microphone to speak to the front door visitor or just stream video for further observation before answering the front door. Priced competitively against other video doorbell solutions, the system includes two handsets that each have a 1.8 inch color LCD screen and DECT 6.0 technology.
New Connect to Cell Options
VTech's DS6671-3 Connect to Cell (MSRP $99.95) two handset and headset system provides consumers a high-quality and reliable call experience by taking advantage of a zone in the house with the best cellular coverage, with or without a landline. Through a simple Bluetooth(®) pairing process for up to two cellphones, this Connect to Cell phone system provides better sound quality and clarity. When placed outside the dreaded "dead spot," it can result in fewer dropped or missed calls. With the new DECT 6.0 cordless headset, the DS6671 adds extra hands-free mobility throughout the home while the cellphone remains connected and charging.
Multiple people can take advantage of the Connect to Cell system at the same time. All three lines - the home phone and two cellphones - can be on separate calls simultaneously. Since the Connect to Cell system can expand to 12 handsets and headsets (only two connections can be headsets), it's the ultimate multi-room, multi-user tool for multiple conversations.
Additional Connect to Cell two handset models DS6511-2 (MSRP: $49.95) and DS6521-2 (MSRP: $59.95) are priced competitively and enhance the cellphone experience in the home, and are a great option for those without a landline. Both models connect with up to two cellphones and store up to 200 cellphone directory entries, so mobile calls are accessible from the comfort of a cordless handset. Users can add up to five handsets on both models, effectively ending the mad dash to find the cellphone, because the call can be answered from any of the handsets. An added benefit for those consumers who like a central home answering machine for landline calls, the DS6521-2 adds a digital answering system with up to 14 minutes of recording time.
Phones That Are Smart and Add Value
VTech brings innovative and affordable features to consumers with several phone system series. The CS6859 (MSRP $39.95) provides high-quality audio and functionality to the home or office with a new full duplex handset and base speakerphone that allows both callers to speak - and be heard - at the same time for more natural conversations. With a display and keypad in the base, this phone system allows the base to serve as a phone itself, providing a second option for calls if the handset is out of reach. Expandable up to five handsets (using CS6709), this phone system also provides intercom and conference call capabilities.
The CS6729/CS6829 (MSRP $29.95) both blend form and function by offering full duplex handset speakerphones at a highly competitive price. The CS6829 offers a unique design and a full duplex handset speakerphone. Both phone systems offer a range of useful features, including digital answering systems with up to 14 minutes of recording time, caller ID and call waiting, eco mode, a 50-name and number phonebook directory, caller ID history and silent mode ringer control.
Adding more design and color to compliment any home décor, the CS6529 (MSRP $29.95), which is sold exclusively at Target, comes in six colors - silver, red, blue, green, pink, and pearl white - with a standard handset speakerphone and an answering system. The CS6719 (MSRP $19.95) comes in three color options: silver, red, and blue, without an answering system.

NETGEAR Liberates Enterprise Technology From The Datacenter With ReadyDATA For The Desktop
World's Leading NAS Vendor introduces ReadyDATA 516; industry's most feature-rich unified desktop storage, making block-level replication, unlimited snapshots and de-duplication available to businesses of any size
SAN JOSE, Calif., May 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- NETGEAR®, Inc. (NASDAQGM: NTGR) (http://www.netgear.com), a global networking company that delivers innovative products to consumers, businesses and service providers, today announced a powerful new addition to the ReadyDATA(TM) family. As the first ReadyDATA device in desktop form, ReadyDATA 516 (http://www.netgear.com/readydata) is packed with enterprise-class technology and delivered with ease-of-use features that enable small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to effectively use them. Looking to solidify the recent designation from Gartner as the worldwide #1 NAS vendor for total unit shipments in 2012, the introduction of ReadyDATA 516 (RDD516) enables comprehensive edge-to-core data protection when used in tandem with a ReadyDATA 5200 (2U rackmount) or additional ReadyDATA 516s. ReadyDATA 516 is significantly less expensive and dramatically easier to use than comparable enterprise-class offerings, and also incorporates ReadyDATA Hybrid Cloud, a new feature providing data replication from ReadyDATA to the public cloud.
Gartner Inc., the world's leading information technology research and advisory company, published their Market Share: Network-Attached Storage/Unified Storage Worldwide 2012 report (G00249602) on April 12, 2013. The results place NETGEAR among the largest traditional enterprise storage vendors. Gartner ranked NETGEAR the number one vendor for total NAS/unified storage unit shipments in 2012.
ReadyDATA Family
With the addition of the 516 desktop model, NETGEAR now has two innovative products in the ReadyDATA family:
-- ReadyDATA 5200, a 2U 12-bay network-attached storage device that
introduced enterprise-class functionality to the SMB with an
all-inclusive set of features and unmatched ease-of use; and
-- ReadyDATA 516, a 6-bay desktop network-attached storage device for a
business without a data center or with branch offices requiring a
powerful on-site storage solution. It delivers to your desktop the
features traditionally found only in the data center, and at a price
that is cost-effective for even the smallest sites.
NETGEAR is simplifying storage for business customers with one low, all-inclusive and easy-to-understand price for their fully featured network attached storage -- including native de-duplication, thin provisioning, unlimited snapshots, support for virtual networks, and NETGEAR's five-year industry-best warranty. In addition, ReadyDATA enables users to easily mix SSD and SATA drives within a volume to optimize overall performance. With ReadyDATA 516, there are no additional feature licensing fees or maintenance contracts required.
"We designed the new ReadyDATA 516 as 'data center storage in a box'," said Matt Pahnke, senior product marketing manager for NETGEAR Storage. "NETGEAR's market-leading storage business is expanding to include solutions with enterprise-class functionality and ReadyDATA 516 is helping to lead the charge. No one else packs so many advanced data management features into such a small form factor, for one simple, upfront cost."
The ReadyDATA platform enables users to take advantage of thin provisioning in virtual environments, replicate files and databases to offsite locations, and recover data from unlimited point-in-time snapshots, all with just a few mouse clicks. ReadyDATA ensures the highest levels of data integrity and features ReadyDATA Hybrid Cloud for easy replication directly to the cloud, for high-performance disaster recovery without extra software, servers, or network configuration.
Enterprise-class features that come standard with every ReadyDATA 516 desktop device include:
-- Thin provisioning, compression and de-duplication of block (SAN) and
file (NAS) data
-- Unlimited snapshots of block and file data for continuous data
protection
-- Ability to mix SSD and SATA drives within a volume to optimize overall
performance
-- Replication over 128-bit SSL connections for block and file data
-- Instant capacity expansion eliminating RAID configuration time
-- Virtual network interface support for powerful network traffic
management
-- Backup software compatibility with major vendors like Symantec, Acronis,
CommVault, StorageCraft, Veeam and Quest
-- Virtualization vendor certifications from VMware, Microsoft and Citrix
Pahnke added, "We want our customers to enjoy a unified storage solution that is cost-efficient, easy to use, and provides enterprise-class data management, without having to pay the typical Big IT premium. ReadyDATA 516 fits this mold and is the most capable feature-rich desktop storage on the market."
With ReadyDATA, small businesses can improve IT efficiency and reduce the risk of data loss as result of a disaster, human error, or interruption. Edge-to-core data protection enables a business to manage storage centrally and replicate data from a remote or branch office to corporate headquarters or a central site.
"ReadyDATA gives us peace of mind knowing that we can securely share, store, and protect critical data across the network," said Michael Feldbauer, director at Arafura Connect (http://www.arafura.net.au/), an ISP based in Australia. "With ReadyData, we're getting an enterprise solution loaded with thin provisioning and block-level replication at a price point that helps our bottom line. It's easy to configure, so much so that within two hours of installation, we were already migrating data."
Pricing and Availability
NETGEAR ReadyDATA products are available May 27th from authorized NETGEAR PowerShift® channel partners (http://powershift.netgear.com/) and other reseller channels and e-commerce sites. A diskless NETGEAR ReadyDATA 516 (RDD516) has a U.S. street price of $2,400. A NETGEAR ReadyDATA 5200 (RD5200) with 12x1TB drives has a U.S. street price under $10,000.

NI FlexRIO Adapter Module Family Grows to More Than 20 Members
Extended I/O and FPGA Access Make PXI an Option in Advanced Automated Test and High-Performance Embedded Systems That Used to Rely on Custom Solutions
AUSTIN, Texas, May 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- National Instruments (NATI) has expanded the NI FlexRIO product family, built on FPGA-based reconfigurable I/O (RIO), to more than 20 modules. Six new adapter modules add I/O including digitizer, signal generation and IF and RF transceiver capabilities. Engineers can pair these NI FlexRIO adapter modules with user-programmable FPGAs to solve almost any test application, from real-time spectrum monitoring and RF modulation/demodulation to signal intelligence and RF communication protocol prototyping.
Because these modules benefit from the parallelism and dataflow programming of the NI LabVIEW RIO architecture, they can be easily targeted by engineers without VHDL or Verilog knowledge. The combination of NI FlexRIO, LabVIEW system design software and access to more than 600 NI PXI modular instruments gives engineers a commercial off-the-shelf solution that can be customized using FPGA technology.

Acromag's New 6-Channel Optocoupler and Interposing Relay Modules Monitor/Control High-Voltage Field Devices
Acromag releases relay interface modules to monitor or control high-energy actuators (on/off, high/low, open/close) using remote I/O, PLCs, or other distributed control systems with DC logic signaling.
WIXOM, Mich., May 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Acromag's new BusWorks(®) XT Series multi-channel optocoupler and interposing relay modules connect discrete field devices to measurement & control system I/O modules. The XTA-120V-6 optocoupler modules have six individually isolated 120V AC/DC digital (discrete) inputs to sense on/off levels and provide 5-32V DC logic outputs to a fieldbus input module or a controller. The XTA-MRNO-6 interposing relay module receives 4-32V DC logic-level signals from an output module or controller to switch six mechanical relay outputs. These two high-voltage relay interface modules offer a high-density, cost-effective solution to safely monitor or control inductive and other high-power loads (motors, valves, solenoids, etc.) with control system input/output modules that only support low- level DC signals. Pricing starts at $150 for the mechanical relay output module and $180 for the optocoupler input module.
"These multi-channel discrete contact sensor and relay output modules offer a safe, isolated interface between high-energy field devices and sensitive control system I/O modules," explained Don Lupo, sales and marketing director of Acromag's process products group. "By adding optocouplers and relays, you can use PLC, DCS, or remote I/O modules with 5-24V logic circuits to operate 120V AC/DC contactors."
The XTA-120V-6 six-channel optocoupler is intended for use with control system digital input modules to monitor contact closures or mains power supply on/off voltage levels. Each channel senses the presence or absence of high-level voltage to determine the status of proximity switches, limit switches, toggle switches, push buttons, contacts, and other devices. Opto-isolators control a mosfet switch for a TTL-level output to safely interface the status of the monitored device.
The XTA-MRNO-6 six-channel mechanical relay is used with digital output modules to drive high energy loads. This unit serves as an interim digital interface to switch high voltage devices at high currents based on digital DC logic inputs. Each output has normally open Form A mechanical relay contacts (SPST-NO). LEDs on each channel indicate the output state for convenient troubleshooting.
Both modules can drive audible or visual alarms. Common uses involve operation of stack lights, bells, whistles, lights, and horns. While the XTA-MRNO-6 is intended for switching AC/DC inductive loads at high currents, the XTA-120V-6 is designed to drive low-current devices such as solid-state relays, LEDs, relay coils, solenoids, and incandescent lamps.
An innovative housing design is only 22.5mm wide and features removable front-facing terminal blocks for easier wiring. All units run off a 12- 32V DC power source at the terminals or through an integrated power connector bussed along the DIN rail that can provide primary or redundant power. Fail-safe operation is supported. Suitable for use in harsh environments, modules operate from -40 to 85 degrees C with 1500V AC isolation and surge/transient protection. They can also withstand 25g shock and 4g vibration. CE and UL/cUL Class 1 Division 2 Zone 2 hazardous location approvals are pending.
About Acromag
Acromag has designed and manufactured measurement and control products for more than 55 years. With a headquarters near Detroit, Michigan and a global network of sales representatives and distributors, Acromag products are sold worldwide. They offer a complete line of industrial I/O products including process instruments, signal conditioning equipment, data acquisition boards, distributed I/O modules, and network communication devices. Industries served include manufacturing, water services, power generation, mining, defense, and transportation.
