AVG Technologies Steps Up Device Security with Latest AntiVirus Products
AMSTERDAM and SAN FRANCISCO, February 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Versions boast an enhanced user interface, improved navigation and a number
of additional features
AVG Technologies [http://www.avg.com ] N.V. (NYSE: AVG), the provider of Internet and
mobile security to 146 million active users, today announced its latest versions of AVG
AntiVirus products for Android smartphones and tablets. Versions 3.1 of AVG AntiVirus FREE
and PRO for both device types are now available for download from Google Play.
Aimed at offering the best protection possible for mobile devices combined with a real
ease of use, a number of new features and enhancements can be found within each of the
updated products:
- Both versions of AntiVirus FREE and PRO for Android Tablets (3.1.2) have a
completely new user interface, with simplified menus, screens and settings adding to the
products' look and feel and improving the ease of navigation.
- AVG AntiVirus FREE and PRO for Android(TM) both now include a Call & SMS Blocker
feature which lets the user filter unwanted calls and text messages by building their own
customized "black and white" phone lists. Using these lists, the user can set their mobile
device to automatically reject incoming calls and text messages from certain numbers.
Instead of ringing through, calls will be rejected, sent an SMS auto reply or switched to
silent.
"Our customers are increasingly telling us that so much of their daily lives are now
connected with their mobile devices, so we recognize the importance of constantly
improving the protection available to them," said Omri Sigelman, VP of Mobile Sales for
AVG Technologies. "With a range of different options available to customers we are showing
that device protection needn't cost more than the device it is on or be overly
complicated. No matter the budget, the main thing is that our customers feel confident
that their devices will be able to support them in their busy digital lives."
AVG's mission is to simplify, optimize and secure the Internet experience, providing
peace of mind to a connected world. AVG's powerful yet easy-to-use software and online
services put users in control of their Internet experience. By choosing AVG's software and
services, users become part of a trusted global community that benefits from inherent
network effects, mutual protection and support. AVG has grown its user base to 146 million
active users as of December 31, 2012 and offers a product portfolio that targets the
consumer and small business markets and includes Internet security, PC performance
optimization, online backup, mobile security, identity protection and family safety
software.

Orbit Research and APH Introduce the World's First Handheld Talking Graphing Calculator
Coming for the fall 2013 school year: A specially adapted version of the Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus calculator will transform STEM education for students who are blind and visually impaired
WILMINGTON, Del., Feb. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Orbit Research and the American Printing House for the Blind (APH) today announced the introduction of the Orion TI-84 Plus, the world's first fully accessible handheld graphing calculator. Based on the popular TI-84 Plus model from Texas Instruments, the market-leader in calculators and educational technology, the Orion TI-84 Plus represents a breakthrough in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education for students who are blind and visually impaired.
With the advent of the graphing calculator, mathematics educators immediately recognized its potential for improving both the efficiency and the effectiveness of mathematics instruction by using it to promote exploration, conceptual understanding, modeling and complex problem solving. Today, literally millions of graphing calculators are used in math and science classes, and are an integral part of the high-school math curriculum. The most widely adopted graphing calculators are from the TI-8x family.
However, the popularity and usefulness of graphing calculators also poses a challenge for students who are blind and visually impaired, since none of the models used in classrooms have been accessible thus far. While some specialized computer software programs for graphing exist for students who are visually impaired, it has been difficult for them to participate fully in classroom activities with other students who are using calculators such as the TI-84 Plus.
Building upon APH's vast experience in the development of educational products and Orbit Research's expertise in adapting mainstream calculators for accessibility, and its long-term partnership with Texas Instruments, the companies collaborated to develop this unique product.
"Texas Instruments is passionate about helping teachers bring math and science to life for all students and Orbit Research has helped to develop an accessible version of the TI-84 Plus for students who are blind and visually impaired," said Scott Sedberry, Strategic Business Manager for Texas Instruments Education Technology. "The identical functionality of the accessible and traditional versions of the TI-84 Plus enables students who are blind and visually impaired to use the same device as their classmates, participate in the same curriculum and take advantage of the vast knowledge-base and instructional materials that are already available for this handheld. We are very excited about the opportunities this creates in STEM education and are committed to continued efforts to level the playing field for this population of students through our partnership with Orbit Research."
The Orion TI-84 Plus consists of a compact accessory that is attached to the top of the TI-84 Plus and enables a user who is visually impaired to interact with the TI-84 Plus using speech, audio, and haptic (vibration) feedback. All textual and symbolic information on the screen, as well as each key-press is spoken using high-quality synthesized speech. Most importantly, graphs can be explored using either spoken announcements or the SonoGraph(TM) audio and haptic feedback. The user can also review the contents of the screen at any time, including all text and graphical information, without affecting the calculation.
The unit is fully expandable with hardware accessories through a USB port and can also print or emboss graphs when connected to a printer or braille embosser.
The Orion TI-84 Plus will be available through APH's Federal Quota Program and units will ship in time for the 2013-2014 school year.

Supporting Quotes
"DDN's hScaler appliance represents the next step forward in the democratization of Big Data: It takes an advanced analytics solution that was economical for only the richest and most information-driven organizations in the world and puts it well within the grasp of enterprise CIOs. For enterprises seeking to maximize the value of their information, hScaler technology presents an opportunity to do so at a lower cost -- in terms of time, money, and resources -- than ever before." -- Jean-Luc Chatelain, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Technology, DDN (http://www.ddn.com/blog)
"DDN has developed a Hadoop solution that is all about time to value: It simplifies rollout so that enterprises can get up and running more quickly, provides typical DDN performance to accelerate data processing, and reduces the amount of time needed to maintain a Hadoop solution. Permit Report Offers Service To Protect Property Buyers and Sellers From Unexpected Risks
SHERMAN OAKS, Calif., Feb. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Permit Report, an LA-area permit research and reporting service, makes buying and selling property less risky.
Currently the only service of its kind offering online ordering, a streamlined price structure, and PDF delivery, The Permit Report's researchers are experts at uncovering hard-to-find documents on both commercial and residential properties.
Depending on the locality, reports can be compiled and delivered in as little as two business days and each report is stored and accessed on the Company's website for access 24 x 7.
In lieu of the company's services, buyers, sellers or their respective agents had to search through municipal records by hand.
Permits are required for structural, electrical, plumbing and other modifications to properties within city limits. Later, when property changes hands, proof that such work was in fact permitted must be reported on the Transfer Disclosure Agreement.
Unpermitted work can lead to headaches for everyone. For the seller, missing permits reduces the value of the property. Buyers, on the other hand, may have trouble securing financing. Some lenders will only finance a portion of the property if the buyer cannot produce certain permits. Similarly, work not completed to code can result in significant penalties for the owner.
Typically, buyer and seller agents will request reports on behalf of their clients. Inspection companies, appraisers and real estate investment trusts (REITs) can also take advantage of The Permit Report's research acumen. A permit report might contain any of the following:
-- Building Permits
-- Certificates of Occupancy
-- Mechanical Permits
-- Electrical Permits
-- Plumbing Permits
-- Grading Certificates and Permits
-- Open Violations of Record
The Permit Report has numerous resources at its disposal, including the City of Los Angeles microfiche collection. Reports are delivered to clients online in PDF format, ensuring fast and efficient processing. Rush services are available so that transactions will not be held up while clients wait on reports.
The Permit Report recently underwent a change in management. Sonja Carlson and Mike Robinson, partners in the building permit expediting and entitlement consulting firm Permit Place, have taken over day-to-day management of the company. The new leadership team hopes to streamline every aspect of current operations, from customer service and order delivery to web functionality. The pooling of talent between Permit Place and Permit Report enables the company to extend its services to both residential and commercial clients. For instance, shopping center owners frequently need copies of Certificates of Occupancy as tenants move in and out of their malls.
Permit Report has plans to expand its coverage area to include Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Diego. Eventually, the company looks to move beyond Southern California and into neighboring regions.
About The Permit Report
The company has been in business for years as Permits, Etc. In 2006, PermitReport.com was born when Eric Spitz approached Permits, Etc and brought it into the 21st century by building out a website that would deliver the reports online. In 2011, due to the success of the company, Spitz approached Carlson and Robinson to collaborate on the day-to-day management of the company. Previously, Permit Place had been offering a competitive service called Permit Reports. The two companies merged their services together and reformed the company called The Permit Report as a Limited Liability Company.

Cloud Cruiser Delivers Dollars and Sense to the Hybrid Cloud
Cloud Cost Management vendor enables enterprise IT as a Service with broad support for hybrid cloud environments
ROSEVILLE, Calif., Feb. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Cloud Cruiser, the pioneer in Cloud Cost Management, today announced the release of their 2.1 Enterprise Edition, representing the broadest support for industry-leading private and public cloud platforms and securing the company's position as the premier IT financial management solution for the hybrid cloud.
With its 2.1 offering, Cloud Cruiser now supports Cisco Intelligent Automation for Cloud, VMware vCloud Director, System Center 2012 SP1, HP Cloud Service Automation 3.1, 3Par, Aptare, and the new API and Tagging feature of Amazon Web Services. These offerings are in addition to their existing portfolio of cloud solutions which include HP CloudSystem, OpenStack, VMware vCenter, and other industry-standard hypervisors, databases, and applications.
Hybrid cloud adoption is expected to reach 50% by 2016, increasing the urgency for cost management in what is inherently a diverse and complex environment. Additionally, the role of the IT organization is shifting into that of a service provider, which is driving the need for new capabilities to understand, control, and charge for IT usage and spending in private and public cloud environments.
According to Gartner, "Most organizations are beginning to see the benefits of commercial chargeback tools and are using these tools to provide greater transparency of costs, particularly in a multisourced environment where service costs from internal, outsourced, external and cloud computing environments need to be managed to make sourcing decisions."(1)
Cloud Cruiser is unique in the industry in that it is architected for heterogeneous computing environments. Cloud Cruiser addresses the needs of large enterprises that demand a combination of private cloud environments built on platforms like VMware, HP CloudSystem, or Cisco Intelligent Automation for Cloud, as well as public clouds like Amazon.
"Cloud Cruiser is an enabling technology for IT as a Service," states Dave Zabrowski, Founder and CEO of Cloud Cruiser. "The reality is that internal IT organizations now have to compete with external service providers, which means offering competitive pricing, service level agreements, real-time spending alerts, and pay-per-usage billing. This requires a purpose-built financial management system for the hybrid cloud from Cloud Cruiser."
For specific product features and benefits, please contact Cloud Cruiser at http://www.cloudcruiser.com or info@cloudcruiser.com.

DefensePipe is an innovative market solution for end to end attack mitigation
on-premise and in the cloud. Available to Radware customers that currently deploy an
on-premise Attack Mitigation System (AMS), it is a scalable solution that automatically
engages once the customer's AMS detects that pipe saturation is imminent.
The sharing of behavioral base line data between the on-premise AMS and DefensePipe,
that includes a real-time signature created by the AMS, enables DefensePipe to start
mitigation in the cloud much faster and with greater accuracy.
The organization's suspicious Internet traffic is immediately diverted to the
DefensePipe cloud based scrubbing center where it is distanced further from the protected
network and its scalable resources can mitigate high volume attacks. Once the traffic is
"cleaned" it is then sent to the organization and regular operations continue once the
attack has ceased.
"To effectively diminish availability-based threats, you must take a holistic approach
on both detection and mitigation," says Avi Chesla, chief technology officer, Radware.
"Today's security challenges, including multi-vulnerability attack campaigns, are better
addressed when detection and mitigation resources appropriately match the threat type and
attack target in any given time."
"We've essentially extended the strength of our AMS to the cloud with this robust end
to end solution that provides greater flexibility to protect against any type and size of
threat - all under the hood of the same attack mitigation system," added Chesla.
Also included is access to Radware's Emergency Response Team (ERT), a 'round the
clock' staff of security experts who are knowledgeable and experienced with emerging cyber
threats, their detection and mitigation. Whether the attack needs to be mitigated
on-premise or in the Cloud, Radware's Emergency Response Team mitigates the attack with
the customer during the entire attack campaign. Customers will not need to work with
multiple vendors or services during an attack and can benefit from the peace of mind of
having a single contact point during an attack.
"Radware's DefensePipe was a natural fit, as we're very pleased with their attack
mitigation system and its unmatched capability," says Robert Proulx, Eng. president and
founder of Xittel Telecommunications.
"The combination of an on-premise AMS and DefensePipe in the cloud provides us with
maximum security coverage and the ideal solution to ensure the availability of our
customers' business. Furthermore, it allows us to maintain our high SLA with our hosted
customers, providing a much greater value for them," added Proulx.
Additional features of Radware's DefensePipe cloud based mitigation solution include:
- Widest security coverage compared to any other vendor. The integration of
on-premise AMS and DefensePipe provides wide coverage of attacks that cannot be
detected and protected by other solutions that are deployed only in the cloud or only
on-premise. Attack coverage includes SSL based attacks, application layer attacks, low
& slow, network floods, known vulnerabilities and egress traffic attacks.
- Shortest response time by employing an on-premise AMS that starts immediately
and automatically to mitigate the attack. There is no need to wait for human
intervention or to divert the traffic to a remote data center in order to start
mitigation.
- Integrated reporting system provides information both from the on-premise
mitigation and in the cloud mitigation. This enables customers to perform more
efficient forensics, better understand the threats they are facing and to better plan
their mitigation strategy for future threats.

TagMan Transforms Tag Management by Launching the Industry's First Marketing Data Platform
LONDON, February 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
TagMan's new LEAP tag management and marketing data platform unlocks big
marketing data that drive big business results for the world's leading companies.
TagMan, the most used, most advanced and most proven tag management and Marketing Data
Platform (MDP), today announces the launch of its LEAP platform. This new solution -
available today - gives marketers the tools to unlock and visualise their customer data
and drive quantifiable business results through the efficiencies of tag management on any
device and by effortlessly activating and sharing data for campaign optimisation,
personalisation, and site experience.
With the LEAP Platform, marketers can now track their customers' entire marketing
experience on any device across all channels and easily activate and share data for
campaign optimisation, personalisation and site experience. With this new functionality,
companies can truly analyse the success of campaigns beyond the last clicked ad before a
sale to ensure they're making the biggest and most optimized marketing decisions to drive
revenues.
Vodafone Drives the Evolution of Tag Management and Big Data Marketing
Vodafone has been working closely with TagMan to develop its big marketing strategy
and employs the capabilities made available by LEAP to drive efficiencies and incremental
revenue growth.
Gareth Davies, Head of Channel Demand at Vodafone, says: "Making access to marketing
data so efficient and operational was the next logical evolution for TagMan. Since we
began working with TagMan's Marketing Data Platform, we have been able to analyze the
efficiency of all the channels within our digital marketing mix and re-allocate investment
to those areas previously undervalued by traditional last-click models. The power of
data-driven marketing means that we actively reallocate budgets to drive better results
through the channels that work best on an on-going basis."
New Visualisation Innovation Enables Greater Insights and Decision-Making
In addition to LEAP's 'drag and tag' vendor tag implementations, LEAP's Visual
Insights Suite enables marketers to visualise and analyse the full customer journey
through powerful business intelligence charts and sync their marketing experience data
from LEAP into various action systems including CRMs, bid-management and order fulfilment
systems. Using the latest in mobile tag management technology, LEAP Mobile also allows
marketers the freedom to launch, test, or phase out third-party app services at any time
for flexible mobile analytics.
Jim Sterne, Founder, eMetrics Summit & Digital Analytics Association, says: "Complete
consumer insights require getting all siloed data in one place - the extract, transform,
load problem. Tag Management Systems like TagMan's sit right in the middle between the
actions and the databases and can grab all that marketing experience data as it goes by.
TagMan gives marketers control to access, analyze and share this behavioural and
attitudinal data to make better marketing decisions that drive revenues."
Ron Brien, TagMan's SVP of Global Marketing, says: "LEAP is already elevating how
marketers more efficiently access and activate vast amounts of marketing data to make the
most intelligent marketing decisions that they can. The potential business benefits for
brands when they're able to isolate a big marketing data layer with LEAP are on a
game-changing scale.
"We're proud to be working with global brands, such as our partners at Vodafone, whose
marketing campaigns are becoming personal and relevant by using data in real-time through
our marketing data platform. Our vision for the future is to continue to empower all
marketers to market with confidence by embracing data and displaying the impressive
revenue potential of big marketing."
In addition to LEAP's 'drag and tag' vendor tag implementations, LEAP's Visual
Insights Suite (VIS) also enables them to visualize and analyze the full customer journey
through powerful business intelligence charts and sync their Marketing Experience Data
from LEAP into various action systems including CRMs, bid-management and order fulfilment

Ford Extends Commitment to App Developers by Contributing AppLink to Open-Source GENIVI Alliance
BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
-- Ford becomes the first American automaker to open-source the software of
a product by contributing the AppLink((TM)) code to the GENIVI Alliance
-- The AppLink connectivity interface allows drivers to take control of
compatible smartphone and tablet apps through dashboard buttons or voice
commands
-- Contribution builds on Ford's initial commitment to app developers with
the launch of the first open developer program in the auto industry, http://developer.ford.com
Today Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) expanded its commitment to help encourage the growing community of automotive app developers by announcing it will contribute the software for AppLink((TM)), the Ford-developed in-car smartphone app interface, to the GENIVI Alliance. Ford becomes the first American automaker to contribute proprietary source code from one of its products to an open-source project.
The AppLink software enables apps from connected smartphones to be controlled using the vehicle interface, including available voice recognition and audio buttons. Along with the announcement of the industry-first open mobile app developer program at the 2013 International CES this past January, Ford announced the intention to take further steps to help developers be successful working with the automotive industry, an emerging growth area for app integration.
"Ford wants to see app developers succeed in their work with the auto industry," said Doug VanDagens, global director of Connected Services at Ford. "Contributing the AppLink software to GENIVI demonstrates our commitment to be developer-focused which supports our drive for consumer-focused innovation."
Learning from the lessons of the smartphone market, Ford understands that a vibrant app ecosystem is essential to the success of a platform for both users and developers. Great apps will attract customers to the platform, which in turn draws more developers to expand the boundaries of functionality. By open-sourcing the AppLink platform so that automakers and aftermarket infotainment manufacturers can incorporate it, developers will get a larger potential market and more incentive to create apps that can be used on the go.
Ford will establish a new open-source GENIVI project, with a Ford engineer maintaining the project. The project will contain all of the code and documentation required to implement the AppLink software into the vehicle audio system head unit to enable two-way communications with Google Android and Apple iOS devices. All of the code for what will be known as SmartPhoneLink is being released under the well-established BSD open-source license.
"GENIVI is pleased to host the SmartPhoneLink project as one of its growing number of public open source projects," said Steve Crumb, executive director, GENIVI Alliance. "Ford's commitment to contributing its AppLink software technology to a broader base of developers fits perfectly with GENIVI's commitment to drive adoption of open source software in the automotive community."
The GENIVI (pronounced gen-ee-vee) Alliance is a non-profit industry alliance committed to driving the broad adoption of an In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) open-source development platform.
"We looked at a number of different organizations before deciding to establish these open-source projects with GENIVI," added VanDagens. "We wanted to work with an active organization that already has connections with the automotive ecosystem including both automakers and suppliers.
"Working with GENIVI also demonstrates that the resulting SmartPhoneLink platform will be operating system agnostic so that manufacturers can implement it with any embedded operating system they choose including Linux, QNX and Microsoft Windows Embedded."
In addition to Ford's contribution to SmartPhoneLink, navigation services provider Telenav and embedded software development firm Luxoft have committed to contribute supporting code to the new SmartPhoneLink projects.
"We are delighted that Ford has committed to turning its field-proven AppLink technology into an open industry standard," said Vasiliy Suvorov, vice president of Technology Strategy at Luxoft. "We fully share Ford's vision and will support it by contributing code from our open-source car connectivity platform iviLink to SmartPhoneLink. This will allow us to concentrate on one platform going forward and focus on added value functionality, head unit integration and applications."
"Mobile app developers want a standard cross-OEM platform on which to write code," said Sal Dhanani, vice president and general manager of Telenav's automotive business. "Telenav will help define the communication protocol between smartphones and the vehicle's head unit to ensure drivers have a high quality and personalized connected navigation experience."
Ford has more than 1 million cars, trucks and SUVs on the road in North America equipped with AppLink including Fiesta, Focus, Fusion, Mustang, Escape, F-150, Super Duty and E-Series.

This newest small cell product from Alpha Networks incorporates UltraSON? self-organizing network technology provided by Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and Qualcomm Atheros, Inc., subsidiaries of Qualcomm Incorporated. This technology is designed to augment network capacity and coverage through densification of WCDMA small cells, thereby enhancing the end-user experience.
With users consuming increasing levels of bandwidth and causing insufficient network capacity, resulting in weak signals and signal interference, global telecommunication carriers are actively expanding mobile network infrastructure to address these growing demands. Using the UltraSON solution, Alpha Networks delivers the WHU-FAP10 product, which integrates WCDMA and Wi-Fi into a single Access Point device that provides data off-load from the macro network to localized small cells. GainSpan Unveils Industry First Wi-Fi® and ZigBee® IP Single Chip
Multi-standard, multimode integrated circuit containing WLAN baseband, RF functions and a dual IPv4/ IPv6 stack to spur the adoption of Internet of Things; Solution extends IP Everywhere
NUREMBERG, Germany, Feb. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Embedded World 2013 -- GainSpan(®) Corporation, a leader in ultra-low power Wi-Fi connectivity for the Internet of Things, today unveiled the GS2000, the industry's first single chip solution bringing together two IEEE low power standard wireless technologies: Wi-Fi(®) (802.11b/g/n) and 802.15.4. The GS2000 is a highly integrated System on a Chip (SoC) containing multi-standard RF as well as both 802.11b/g/n and 802.15.4 PHY/MAC functionality, dual ARM(®) Cortex(®) -M3 processors, networking stack and services, and large memory size to support various application profiles--all on a single silicon die. The new Wi-Fi and ZigBee(®) IP chip will accelerate the development and market adoption of home networked devices.
The GS2000 features a dual mode IPv4/IPv6 TCP/UDP networking stack along with additional networking services, enabling a complete networking solution for embedded MCU based applications. It supports Wi-Fi WLAN software and networking features, ZigBee IP-- which is based upon 6LoWPAN--and IP based addressing and methods over both 802.11 and 802.15.4 wireless standards.
By incorporating the only two wireless IP-based Home Area Network (HAN) standards while supporting IPv4 and/or IPv6 devices, the GS2000 extends internet connectivity wherever there is a Wi-Fi access point or hotspot, and leverages the key benefits of each technology--the high data rates and widespread availability of Wi-Fi along with the small channelization and meshing capability of ZigBee IP. In residential applications, for example, the solution will bridge the gap between smart meters using ZigBee and the new connected white appliances, all integrating Wi-Fi.
"While other wireless technologies compete in various applications, only Wi-Fi and ZigBee IP provide for and support IP addressing and methods, extending these proven Internet protocols directly to a device or sensor," said Greg Winner, president and CEO, GainSpan. "To truly deliver on the vision of the Internet of Things, range, power consumption, ease of deployment and network management are often more critical than other factors. The GS2000 combining both technologies is able to address line powered as well as battery operated applications cost effectively, which are both necessary to achieve that vision."
With the GS2000, device and appliance manufacturers no longer have to design for one or the other protocols, but can use the same SOC to develop a design that supports either ZigBee IP and/or Wi-Fi, with IPv4 or IPv6, all in the same product.
Designed to provide a cost effective IP based solution all the way to the device, the GS2000 extends GainSpan's leadership from personal healthcare and fitness and smart energy applications to new segments such as metering and high-quality video and audio applications used in consumer and home automation products.

Exent's GameTanium Scores High Marks from its Verizon Wireless Users
Customers love GameTanium and keep coming back for more
NEW YORK, Feb. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Exent, the world's largest mobile and PC games subscription service provider, today celebrated the six-month anniversary of the GameTanium(TM) Android service on Verizon Wireless by releasing the results of its recent customer satisfaction survey. GameTanium offers Verizon Wireless Android customers access to unlimited game play of hundreds of the hottest games on Android, from more than 90 publishers and developers worldwide. The response to GameTanium has been overwhelmingly positive with nearly 2/3 of customers rating the service as either "good" or "excellent." The top two reasons given for the high marks are the fact that GameTanium has the hottest games on the market and that the service also introduces players to fun new games that they hadn't heard of before.
GameTanium launched on the Android platform for Verizon Wireless customers in July 2012. The service offers a free three-day trial period, during which Verizon Wireless customers can try out the service and full catalog of games. Subscribers may upgrade to a paid subscription at any time and frequently, that's exactly what happens as 1 in 4 users of the trial become paying subscribers. The GameTanium platform and its extensive catalog of top-rated games have proven to be a compelling entertainment experience for Verizon Wireless subscribers.
Over the past six months, the GameTanium game catalog has grown significantly, with new games added every week including recent additions such as Monster Shooter: The Lost Levels, Anomaly Warzone Earth HD and Jewel Quest® Mysteries: The Seventh Gate. Since its launch, virtually every game in the GameTanium catalog has been played and some of the top games have been Plants Vs. Zombies, Chuzzle, GT Solitaire, and Fruit Ninja.
When asked about what they like best about GameTanium, users responded by saying, "[It's a] great app [and] better than buying games one at a time" and "I have been able to find games that appeal to both me and my girls. Now if only you had a game that involved trains for my son!" The number one response from GameTanium subscribers, however, was simply, "I love it!"
"We knew GameTanium is a great app and has tremendous value but the strong customer response has surprised even us," said Zvi Levgoren, founder and chief executive officer of Exent. "In GameTanium, we have focused on curating the world's best mobile games and making them easy to discover on the world's best mobile gaming service. Ixonos presents several innovative solutions at Embedded World 2013 in Nuernberg. The
Ixonos Low Latency HD Video Streaming application is offering very low latency full HD
video streaming for small footprint devices, such as security cameras. Ixonos Embedded
Linux Board Support Package (BSP) is built in a very elegant way, making it easy to build,
customize, and maintain a Linux distribution for small devices.
"Ixonos Low Latency HD Video Streaming technology is excellent for A/V type systems
such as video surveillance which need low Glass-2-Glass latency", tells Martin Lund,
Specialist, Ixonos. The application is running on top of the Ixonos Embedded Linux BSP and
it is utilizing the popular open source Gstreamer 1.0 multimedia framework for the
streaming back end. "Based on our understanding, this is the fastest video streaming on a
low power embedded system. In our solution, we are really optimising how the chipset is
running", Lund continues. Ixonos is one of the first system integrators in the market to
bring this new technology to chipsets.
The key parameter of the application is very low latency; latency as low as 275
milliseconds for full HD 1080p30 A/V streaming can be guaranteed. The application is using
Texas Instruments DM8148 System-on-a-Chip which enables low power consumption and small
footprint device designs.
The Ixonos Embedded Linux BSP is a modern and lightweight software stack, built
including up-to-date open source components. It provides a software platform which is
easily extendable for any type of Embedded Linux application, and runs on boards from
several leading chipset manufacturers.
"The Ixonos Embedded Linux BSP is built in a very elegant way, making it easy to
customize and maintain. Upgrading the components has never been easier", says Soren
Kristensen, Director, Connected Devices Business Development, Ixonos. "Benefit of modern
components is excellent runtime performance; better CPU utilisation and lower CPU load.
Our clever stack also has small footprint and short boot time, which are essential for
intelligent devices", Kristensen continues.

software and solutions for connected devices and mobile services. Together with our
corporate customers, we design products and services that let consumers enjoy inspiring

Deutsche Telekom to launch Exent's GameTanium service in Poland
- Premium mobile game service for Android devices exclusive for DT customers for a limited time.
- "All you can play" subscription service model with over 150 games from top publishers and developers, with a free trial period
BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Deutsche Telekom is teaming up with Israel-based games-on-demand provider Exent to introduce the GameTanium subscription mobile game service to Europe. Exent's innovative service offers unlimited game play of hundreds of the most popular games for Android smartphones and tablets, from more than 100 publishers of the world's foremost game developers. The service will roll out in Poland this spring, with further European markets in the DT footprint set to follow over the course of the year. Customers will have exclusive access for a limited time. Customers will also benefit from a free trial period, after which they will continue to have unlimited access to the premium versions of the world's leading casual games for a low monthly subscription fee.
"We're pleased to partner with Exent and be the first operator in Europe to offer such a mobile games subscription service to our Android users," said Heikki Makijarvi, Senior Vice President Group Business Development and Venturing at Deutsche Telekom. "Subscription is the preferred consumption model for entertainment services and we are working diligently to partner with leading players to bring the best of these types of offerings to our customers. Following successful partnerships in the subscription music space, for example with Spotify, this addition of the GameTanium service is a natural progression as games are routinely a top content request of our customers, and Exent is the perfect candidate to provide such services."
Where other mobile gaming services allow users to download one game at a time and often require payment for premium versions or features, the GameTanium service provides customers with unlimited access to as many games as they can play for just one low monthly subscription fee. Exent's games library features the top mobile games on the market today including Fruit Ninja, Collapse! and Plants vs. Zombies as well as many other titles from leading games publishers.
"It is evident that Deutsche Telekom takes its 'easy-to-partner' strategy seriously," said Zvi Levgoren, CEO of Exent. "The smooth and efficient partnership process allowed us to focus our efforts on delivery. We are proud that the Deutsche Telekom Group shares our vision of revolutionizing the classic game delivery model. The subscription model meets mobile users' emerging needs and demands, and we look forward to offering GameTanium to DT customers across Europe."

SAP Enables Mobile Operators to Launch Rich Communication Services Faster, With Lower Upfront Investment
SAP® Rich Communication Services 365 Opens Up New Revenue Streams and Enables Mobile Operators to Compete in an Expanding Mobile Ecosystem
BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) today announced the launch of the cloud-based SAP® Rich Communication Services 365 (SAP RCS 365) mobile service. For mobile subscribers, RCS makes services such as instant messaging, video and file sharing as simple and intuitive as sending a text message, and enables mobile operators to create new innovative services, respond to competition in today's expanding mobile ecosystem and increase potential revenue per subscriber. The announcement was made at Mobile World Congress 2013, being held in Barcelona, Spain, February 25-28, where SAP is located at Hall 7, 7C70.
SAP RCS 365 enables the company to create a "pay-as-you-go/grow" model so that mobile operators can avoid both the complexity of deploying RCS within their networks and the capital expenditure traditionally associated with that approach. Removing the need for investment and resource-intensive changes to their core networks helps reduce time to market, enabling any operator to create innovative services.
RCS is changing the way people communicate, tapping into how consumers use mobile to share their daily experiences with each other. Just as RCS makes it simple for consumers to communicate in a richer way, SAP RCS 365 enables operators to quickly establish themselves in this evolving market, excite their subscribers with new IP-based messaging services and capitalize on the underlying value of their network.
"User behavior and expectations have dramatically changed with the emergence of smartphone and tablet experiences," said John Sims, president, SAP Mobile Services. "In today's evolving mobile environment, operators are being threatened by new competitors offering innovative IP-based services. They must respond by rethinking their business models and innovating new service offerings. SAP RCS 365 arms mobile operators to quickly and cost-effectively launch such services while the SAP IPX 365 mobile service allows them to be interconnected to our ecosystem of mobile operators around the world."
To provide full RCS 5.1 capabilities, SAP selected Mavenir Systems, a leading provider of software-based networking solutions. The RCS offering builds on SAP's history of providing cloud-based solutions for mobile operators, ranging from SMS interconnection to next-generation IP eXchange (IPX) services.
"Mavenir's RCS 5 solution capitalizes on the operators' core strengths of ubiquity, reliability and reach," said Pardeep Kohli, president and CEO, Mavenir Systems. "Together with SAP, we are providing a common approach to new value-added services that mobile operators can offer on existing 3G or LTE networks."
SAP Mobile Services, a division of SAP, is a global leader in mobile interconnection and mobile consumer engagement services. It provides mobile operators with unparalleled capabilities in global messaging interconnect, data roaming and an array of IPX-based services and enables enterprises to engage with their consumers through innovative mobile marketing and communication solutions. SAP Mobile Services helps businesses process 1.8 billion messages per day, reaching more than 980 operators and 5.8 billion subscribers across 210 countries.
