New Mobile Solutions from AT&T Help Curb Distracted Driving for Business Customer Employees
Associate PLEDGE and SafeCell Enterprise Help Businesses Take Control of Dangerous Behavior
DALLAS, Feb. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobile devices have made it easy to conduct business away from the office, but using these devices while driving can create significant safety risks. To help empower large and small businesses who have employees conducting business on the go, AT&T* will offer two mobile solutions, Associate PLEDGE(®) from AT&T and SafeCell Enterprise(®) powered by AT&T, both aimed at reducing dangerous driving behavior among employees.
Available today, Associate PLEDGE(®) from AT&T is a mobile app that lets businesses conduct real-time monitoring and helps to enforce corporate policies on mobile devices while employees are driving. It is best suited for mobile employees, fleet drivers and sales teams that regularly travel on company business or operate company vehicles. Employers can manage and restrict device use while employee vehicles are in motion, including blocking phone calls, text messages and push-to-talk capabilities.
With SafeCell Enterprise(®) powered by AT&T (SafeCell Enterprise) businesses will be able to monitor employee device usage via GPS, gaining visibility into how fast employees are driving, and whether employees are in compliance with regulatory and corporate policies on their mobile devices while driving. This information, along with vehicle monitoring data will be combined in a single dashboard, allowing for easier monitoring and compliance with local, state and federal government restrictions around mobile device use. The solution is being designed for businesses with commercial fleets and will integrate with fleet management solutions typically used for vehicle monitoring and logging. SafeCell Enterprise will also allow an employer to block use of applications while in-transit, such as email, social media sites, texting and web browsing. AT&T is expected to make this product available in the coming weeks.
"Mobile devices are making it easy for businesses to rely on employees who work offsite," said Chris Hill, Senior Vice President, Advanced Solutions, AT&T Business Solutions. "But when those devices are used while driving, employees can put themselves and others at risk. Many businesses have policies in place to address this issue, but little means to enforce them. Associate PLEDGE from AT&T and SafeCell Enterprise powered by AT&T will help businesses enforce those policies and help keep employees safe."
Associate PLEDGE from AT&T and SafeCell Enterprise powered by AT&T work across leading mobile device platforms and operating systems; and, because the solutions are hosted in the cloud, no additional hardware purchase is required. More information is available at http://www.att.com/PLEDGE and http://www.att.com/safecell.
AT&T also offers consumers AT&T DriveMode(®**) (http://www.att.com/drivemode), which, when downloaded and activated, automatically sends a customizable reply to incoming texts - notifying the sender that the user is driving and unable to respond. The auto-response is similar to an "out-of-office" email alert. AT&T's anti-texting-while-driving mobile solution is part of the company's broader "It Can Wait" campaign that aims to stigmatize texting while driving.
*AT&T products and services are provided or offered by subsidiaries and affiliates of AT&T Inc. under the AT&T brand and not by AT&T Inc.
** Data and text messaging charges may apply for download and app usage. Standard messaging rates apply to auto-reply messages. AT&T DriveMode is free to AT&T customers only. Compatible device required.

Acision Hosts RCS in the Cloud, Enabling Operators to Introduce Rich Messaging Services Without Deploying an IMS Core
READING, England, February 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Acision, the global leader in mobile messaging, today announced the availability of
its leading Rich Communication Suite (RCS) services, as a hosted solution from the Acision
Cloud environment. First launched in October 2011, the Acision Cloud model enables mobile
operators to quickly and cost effectively respond to rapidly changing technology
developments and end user preferences, by having the ability to access and offer customers
new rich services while maximising their revenue-generating potential. By delivering RCS
from the cloud, Acision is enabling operators to launch Rich Messaging quickly and with
limited up-front cost, without the need to deploy an IMS Core. Since the beginning of
2012, RCS has been offered as a key service on Acision's consolidated messaging platform,
Acision Broadband Messaging Service Centre (BMSC).
In today's IP-centric world, where time to market and enriching user experience is
everything, mobile operators around the globe are investing in rich and superior services
to enhance the user experience, based on platforms such as IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) -
which can be a costly and complex infrastructure implementation. By offering mobile
operators easy access to Acision's hosted RCS solution, operators can bring richer
services to market faster with easy connectivity, flexibility and delivery models,
including:
- RCS5, including SMS and MMS interworking
- Social Networks integration
- Triggering for consumer services
- Open APIs for enterprise content and services
All this is the basis for new revenue streams through new value added consumer
services and enterprise applications.
"Acision offers a high level of flexibility in its delivery options and business
models for RCS. For operators that require in-network delivery, we can deploy our hardware
independent RCS solution either on their dedicated hardware or in the operator's private
cloud environment. For operators that are looking to minimise time to market and
investments, and launch RCS without having to deploy an IMS Core, we can deliver RCS as a
service from the Acision cloud environment. A quick, easy and cost effective option to RCS
delivery without the added complexity of IMS," said Jorgen Nilsson, Chief Executive
Officer at Acision. "By virtualising our solutions operators can access and deploy the
latest rich services, and scale these easily without the hefty costs traditionally
associated with deployment, which also enables greater economies of scale across operator
groups and alliances. RCS from the cloud enhances our proposition to rapidly deliver
IP-based, rich messaging services in 2013, and builds on our 20 years of messaging
expertise in evolving the messaging ecosystem."
Now available in Acision's cloud or as a virtualised offering, mobile operators can
access Acision's RCS solutions from virtually any location in the world. Acision's data
centres will deliver scalable, reliable connectivity to multiple domestic and
international sites underpinned by fibre backbone networks and undersea cabling. This will
ensure that operators can take advantage of easily monetised rich messaging services with
cost effective expenditure and investment in bandwidth costs. Furthermore, the data
centres will be backed up by 24/7 support, complimented with Acision's complete KPI and
service intelligence reporting, to test and gauge usage results of the services delivered
in the cloud.

Qwilt Unveils IPv6 Support For Its Transparent Caching And Video Delivery Solution
QB-Series Supports IPv6 to Scale With Growing Operator Networks
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Feb. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Qwilt, a leading provider of transparent caching and video delivery solutions, today announced that its QB-Series Universal Video Delivery appliance supports the new Internet Protocol, IPv6. Qwilt's QB-Series is the industry's first fully integrated, purpose-built carrier-grade transparent caching platform that identifies, monitors, stores and delivers over-the-top (OTT) streaming video in fixed and mobile networks. With this feature update, the QB-Series enables carriers to transparently cache and deliver all types of video content traversing over both IPv4 and the emerging IPv6 protocols in their networks.
As the number of connected internet devices continues to grow at an exponential rate and the pool of available IPv4 IP addresses nears exhaustion, cable and mobile providers are preparing to transition to the new IPv6 standard to help their networks scale. While IPv6 is expected to gradually replace the IPv4 standard, the transition will be gradual and both protocols will continue to exist in tandem for the foreseeable future. The IPv6 protocol will ultimately allow for many more devices and users on the Internet, as well as provide extra flexibility in allocating addresses and efficiency for routing traffic.
Qwilt QB-Series products provide seamless support for both IPv4 and IPv6 networks, allowing network operators to transparently monitor and deliver online video streams from both network topologies at the same time. The QwOS(tm) software runs dual IPv4/IPv6 network stacks throughout its various components such as Video Analytics and Video Delivery, eliminating the need to deploy point products through the infrastructure.
"We are committed to providing the highest possible level of service to our subscribers, and enhancing our infrastructure for customers who also use IPv6 helps maintain our state-of-the-art network environment," said Frank Bulk, Technology and Product Development Manager at Premier Communications. "By leveraging cutting-edge technology like Qwilt's QB-Series, we ensure that our subscribers enjoy an immersive, high-quality online video experience every time, regardless if they happen to be using IPv4 or IPv6."
"This important milestone demonstrates our commitment to providing our customers with the tools they need to scale their networks for the new generation of Internet and online entertainment," added Alon Maor, CEO and co-founder of Qwilt. "By adding IPv6 support to our market-leading solution, our clients can take advantage of this rapidly emerging technology to maintain an agile, robust network infrastructure capable of supporting the tidal wave of online video."
About Qwilt
Qwilt's products help carriers reduce the impact of over-the-top (OTT) video traffic on their networks, improve quality of service for their end users, and prepare their networks for the future of online video. Qwilt's QB-Series combines transparent caching, video delivery, and analytics in a unified, turnkey platform. A growing number of the world's leading operators rely on Qwilt for the most precise video content detection, highest performance and scalability, and unprecedented transparency and control needed to optimize video delivery in carrier networks. First Major Tool to Uncover & Define Distinct Mobile Personalities
Take the test and find out how your mobile personality compares to your "real life" one
NEW YORK, Feb. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- McCann Truth Central, the global intelligence unit of McCann Worldgroup based in New York, today launched the McCann Mobile Personality Profiler, the first major online tool to uncover and define the distinct personalities of mobile device users. What's your mobile personality? Take the test at http://www.truthprofiler.com and find out.
The Mobile Personality Profiler is a key component of McCann Truth Central's newest global research study, "The Truth About Connected You." The findings of the study will be released at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, on February 27, 2013.
"It's fascinating to know how our personality complements or clashes with those of our boss, our colleagues, a boyfriend or girlfriend," said the Profiler tool's creator, David Tucker, Deputy Director of McCann Truth Central. "However, if we conduct ourselves differently when using our mobiles, as our research shows, then our new 'mobile personality' could have huge implications for our relationships, both business and personal."
"It stands to reason that marketers who better understand the mobile personalities of their customers, which are often very different from their real-life ones, will have an advantage when it comes to building stronger connections with them," said Laura Simpson, Global Director, McCann Truth Central who led the "The Truth About Connected You" study. "Nobody likes to be yelled at, nagged or ignored - but despite having the best intentions, many mobile programs are doing just that."
Globally, the Top Five mobile personalities include:
Mobile Maitre-D (15% globally, #1 type in Spain, China)
Right this way, sir. I've been holding this time to chat with you. You are the ultimate orchestrator when it comes to mobile. Your day is scheduled to the minute on your phone; if you've got kids, theirs is too. You always answer a call or message - with a proper salutation, too. If someone has to wait, you have your best apology ready. Your only handicap is a fear of deviating from your patterns. You may be missing out on some of the best mobile innovations, including some which can help you maintain your high standards of organization and service. You might like the Weave app, which is great for people who are managing multiple personal projects.
Data Diva (11% globally, #1 in U.S. & the U.K.)
140 character limit? What is this @#$%? Calm down, connected friend, your buddies won't mind if you take ten to get back to them. You're a serial chatterer and your phone bills are probably keeping some of the networks in business. You're too busy catching up with friends to organize your extensive contacts list. You can't imagine life without mobile, but you suspect you're not getting everything you can out of your devices, and you may be right. You might like the Onavo Extend app that helps you manage your data usage.
Wireless Warrior (10% globally, #1 in South Africa)
Hey, pro, how fast can you clean out your inbox? Probably pretty fast, since you're so organized. You use your mobile to keep the communication lines open, close deals and make decisions at all hours. For you, connecting with people is currency, and so while you probably have one of the biggest voice and data bills in your department, you're reluctant to make huge changes to your devices lest you risk a technical malfunction. You might like the Evernote app for note-making when you're away from your desk.
iChatty (9% globally, #1 in India & Brazil)
Your phone goes everywhere with you and you've been known to send the odd text from the toilet. Your mobile challenge is ensuring that your social screen obsession doesn't take you away from the thing you love the most: your friends and family. You're probably a video chatting fiend already, but you might want to check out Viber and Google+ Hangouts so that you can chat and text with more than one friend at a time. Oh, and remember to turn the camera off when you have to 'excuse yourself.'
Linked-out Loyalist (8% globally, #1 in Japan)
You are the person who always 'keeps it real.' Just because you have access to lots of new tech tools, it doesn't mean you think they're necessarily the best way for you to communicate. You're loyal to your select set of best friends and family, and you want that personal touch that comes from voice calls or video chatting. You probably believe that receiving a handwritten, posted mail is a greater sign of connection than a text message. You like tech, but you view it as a supplement to your relationships. You might get the most use out of a navigation app like MotionX GPS Drive, to find that new cafe where you're meeting your friends.

Wi-Fi Alliance® applauds new FCC milestone toward the release of additional spectrum for Wi-Fi®
AUSTIN, Texas, Feb. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The United States Federal Communications Commission voted unanimously last week to propose the release of significant new wireless spectrum for Wi-Fi(®) via a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM). The rulemaking would make available an additional 195 MHz of spectrum in the 5 GHz band for Wi-Fi, and is particularly useful for the emerging generation of gigabit-speed Wi-Fi, based on IEEE 802.11ac. This would be the largest block of unlicensed spectrum made available for Wi-Fi in the U.S. in more than a decade.
Interested parties will have 45 days to submit comments, and an additional 30 days to submit reply comments, from the time the NPRM is published in the Federal Register, which is likely to occur within the next few weeks. The FCC will consider input from the public as well as the input from the U.S. National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), which administers spectrum used by U.S. federal entities that currently employ some of the 5 GHz band. After that, the FCC will issue one or more decisions, likely making some or all of the targeted 195 MHz available.
Wi-Fi Alliance(®) Perspective:
Wi-Fi Alliance commends the United States Federal Communications Commission for its leadership and swift progress toward this spectrum release.
"Consumers, service providers and businesses rely on Wi-Fi now more than ever," said Wi-Fi Alliance president and CEO Edgar Figueroa. "The added spectrum in 5 GHz will foster continued innovation in Wi-Fi technology and help propel advancements toward faster, less congested Wi-Fi networks in homes, enterprises, and public places throughout the United States."

Anritsu Company Announces Remote Control Capability for Industry's First High-power, Battery-operated Portable PIM Test Analyzer
-- Software Allows Field Technicians to Control PIM Master(TM) MW82119A Via Laptop or Tablet for More Efficient, Hands-free Testing --
MORGAN HILL, Calif., Feb. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Anritsu Company introduces Windows-based remote control software for its PIM Master MW82119A, the industry's first high-power, battery-operated, portable PIM test analyzer. With the software, field technicians on the ground can control an MW82119A configured on top of the tower, making it easier and more efficient to conduct highly accurate Passive Intermodulation (PIM) measurements, especially for difficult-to-access sites, such as Remote Radio Head (RRH) installations.
The free-of-charge software is compatible with any laptop or tablet operating with Windows XP SP2 through Windows 7 64 bit. Connection to the PIM Master MW82119A can be made over Ethernet or compact Wi-Fi travel router. The new software continues Anritsu's commitment to providing the marketplace with test solutions that address field market conditions.
The software will work with all six PIM Master MW82119A models, which address key frequency ranges, including the upper and lower 700 MHz bands, 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz, and 1900/2100 MHz. PIM Master MW82119A analyzers incorporate Anritsu's patented Distance-to-PIM(TM) (DTP) technology, allowing tower contractors, maintenance contractors, and wireless service provider field technicians to pinpoint the location of PIM problems, whether they are on the tower or outside the antenna system. The analyzers also test at 40W, which allows the PIM Master MW82119A to locate faults that conventional 20W test solutions might miss, such as intermittent and power-sensitive PIM problems.
As with all Anritsu handheld test solutions, the PIM Master MW82119A is designed to withstand transportation shock, vibration, and harsh outdoor test conditions associated with cell site deployment, installation, and maintenance. Testing is simplified by the analyzer's ability to save and recall test set ups for standardized testing, and limit lines can be set for visual and/or audible pass/fail criteria. Anritsu's Line Sweep Tools can be used to manage PIM Master MW82119A measurements, and generate reports that combine VSWR data, as well as PIM data into a unified site report. PIM measurements can be tagged with the GPS location when the analyzers are equipped with the GPS option.
The PIM Master MW82119A remote control software will be available for download from the Anritsu website after March 8, 2013. For more information, visit the PIM Master web page.

Motorola Extends DreamGallery(TM) TV Experience to More Devices
Innovative cloud-based virtualization technology delivers DreamGallery's award-winning video experience to a broader range of set-tops
HORSHAM, Pa., Feb. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Motorola today announced that its award-winning DreamGallery(TM) technology is newly available on an expanded range of devices--thanks to new virtualization technology.
DreamGallery now uses virtualized cloud-rendering to make TV experiences as rich and easy as surfing the Web--on a variety of devices, including low-cost, entry-level Motorola set-tops. DreamGallery traditionally requires set-tops capable of running an HTML5 browser, but this new virtual module renders HTML5 in the cloud, enabling service providers to offer advanced, dynamic and personalized entertainment experiences to more existing subscribers. The new module is flexible, scalable and low-latency, providing a consistent and snappy user experience on existing Motorola set-tops that would not otherwise have the memory or processing power to deliver DreamGallery.
"DreamGallery is extending its award-winning multi-screen navigation and entertainment experience to millions of Motorola set-tops in subscriber homes today," said John Burke, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Converged Solutions, Motorola Mobility. "Consumers want to find content faster and enjoy it on any device. Our service provider customers are eager to address this demand with rich DreamGallery experiences, but are constrained by the cost and complexity of upgrading their set-top boxes. Now, this cloud-based virtual module lets them deliver this next-generation experience to more subscribers."
DreamGallery is the user navigation component of Motorola's Medios+ platform for multi-screen video distribution. DreamGallery's next-generation entertainment experience has already been widely deployed in Europe. And its footprint is growing in North America: Verizon being the latest service provider announcing plans to use DreamGallery to let its consumers navigate thousands of titles on FiOS Home in the United States.
Now, DreamGallery is taking that even further, enabling quick and personalized searches, customized media, and smart recommendations--on more devices. The advantage is clear: consumers can find exactly what they want on their favorite screen.
Key advantages of the DreamGallery virtual module include:
-- DreamGallery technology for a dynamic, Internet-like TV experience on
legacy devices
-- Consistent DreamGallery experience with all HTML5 browser-based devices
(set-tops, tablets, smartphones and other connected devices)
-- Leverages the advanced HTML5 cloud rendering capabilities of ActiveVideo
Networks' CloudTV H5(TM) platform for low-latency H.264 or MPEG2
delivery and seamless content navigation and consumption

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
News Summary:
-- EMC's new Pivotal HD(TM) is an Apache Hadoop distribution that natively
integrates the industry-leading EMC Greenplum massively parallel
processing (MPP) database technology with the Apache Hadoop framework.
-- The engineering innovation and technology called HAWQ(TM), brings
Greenplum's decade of research and development on the industry's best
MPP analytical database platform to Apache Hadoop, the open-source Big
Data platform.
-- New HAWQ technology brings more than 100X performance improvement (in
some cases up to 600X) to a wide range of query types and workloads,
making Pivotal HD the single most powerful Hadoop distribution in the
industry.
-- Pivotal HD with HAWQ represents the world's first true SQL processing
for Hadoop, expanding the platform's reach to SQL programmers and
developers, as well as enabling compatibility with traditional BI tools.
Full Story:
EMC® Corporation (NYSE: EMC) today announced a new distribution of Apache Hadoop: Pivotal HD. Pivotal HD features native integration of EMC's industry leading Greenplum® massively parallel processing (MPP) database with Apache Hadoop--the most cost-effective and flexible open source Big Data platform ever developed. The new EMC Greenplum-developed HAWQ(TM) technology brings 10 years of large scale data management research and development to Hadoop and delivers more than 100X performance improvements when compared to existing SQL-like services on top of Hadoop, making Pivotal HD the single most powerful Hadoop distribution in the industry.
Hadoop has rapidly emerged as the preferred solution for Big Data analytics applications that grapple with vast repositories of unstructured data. It is flexible, scalable, inexpensive, fault-tolerant, and enjoys rapid adoption rates and a rich ecosystem surrounded by massive investment. However, customers face high hurdles to broadly adopting Hadoop as their singular data repository due to a lack of useful interfaces and high-level tooling for Business Intelligence and datamining--components that are critical to data analytics and building a data-driven enterprise. As the world's first true SQL processing for Hadoop, Pivotal HD addresses these challenges.
By offering the full spectrum of the SQL interface, and by extension, the entire ecosystem of products that support SQL, customers no longer need an army of developers to build a dashboard or run a report. Unlike competitive Hadoop distributions, Pivotal HD does this without moving data between systems or using connectors that require users to store the data twice. Pivotal HD cuts out the complexity of using Hadoop, thus expanding the platform's potential and productivity, and allowing customers to enjoy the benefits of the most cost-effective and flexible data processing platform ever developed.
About HAWQ
HAWQ (pronounced hawk) represents the EMC Greenplum engineering effort that brings 10 years of large-scale data management research and development to the Apache Hadoop framework. Leveraging the feature richness and maturity of the industry leading Greenplum MPP analytical database, this innovation has resulted in the world's first true SQL parallel database on top of the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS). HAWQ is the key differentiating technology in making Pivotal HD the world's most powerful Hadoop distribution. Capabilities of note include Dynamic Pipelining, a world-class query optimizer, horizontal scaling, SQL compliant, interactive query, deep analytics, and support for common Hadoop formats.
Pivotal HD and HAWQ Deliver:
-- True SQL Query Capabilities - With Pivotal HD's advanced database
services (HAWQ) enterprises can now unlock the potential of Hadoop's
scalable, fault-tolerant storage capabilities by bringing to bear the
vast pool of "data worker" tools and languages into the Hadoop
ecosystems. With Pivotal HD's support for true, SQL-standards compliant
query interfaces data mining tools, SQL-trained data analysts, and
standard BI tools can now easily connect to, query, and analyze data
sets stored in the Hadoop file system (HDFS).
-- Unprecedented Query Performance - Bringing over 10 years of parallel
database processing technology to Hadoop, Pivotal HD delivers query
response time improvements that are up to 600x faster than current
SQL-like interfaces for Hadoop.
-- Robust Operational Support - Command Center enables administrators and
developers to easily install and manage large clusters from interactive
web user interfaces. Command Center also exposes Command Line Interface
for scripting and programmer friendly web services API for complex
automation tasks. Using Command Center administrators can deploy large
cluster, configure services/roles, manage services and monitor HDFS jobs
and tasks.
Hadoop -- The Foundation for Change
EMC believes that Hadoop has the potential to reach beyond Big Data to catalyze new levels of business productivity and transformation. As the foundation for change in business, Hadoop represents an unprecedented opportunity to improve how organizations can get the most value from large amounts of data. Businesses that rely on Hadoop as the core of their infrastructure can not only do analytics on top of vast amounts of data, but can also go beyond analytics and the foundation for that data layer to build applications that are meaningful, and that have a very tightly coupled relationship with the data. Consumer Internet companies have reaped the benefits of this approach, and EMC believes more traditional enterprises will adopt the same model as they evolve and transform their businesses.
Pivotal HD is expected to be available at the end of the first quarter of this year as a software-only or appliance-based solution, backed by EMC's global 24x7 support infrastructure.
Executive Quotes:
Scott Yara, senior vice president of products, Greenplum, a division of EMC
"Hadoop is a big deal and poised, for many enterprises, as the key to unlock Big Data's transformational potential. Marrying the extraordinary capabilities of the Greenplum technology--essentially the Greenplum crown jewels--with this amazing open-source phenomenon has been no small feat. But we're 'all in' -- investing in a manner that no other company is -- to help catapult Hadoop into wide-scale adoption."
Steven Hirsch, chief data officer, SVP Global Data Services, NYSE Euronext
"With Pivotal HD, we can check off many of the items on our Hadoop wish-list--things like plug-in support for the ecosystem of tools, improved data management and greater elasticity in terms of the storage and compute layer. But above all, it provides true SQL query interfaces for data workers and tools--not a superficial implementation of the kind that's so common today, but a native implementation that delivers the capability of real and true SQL processing and optimization. Having a single Hadoop infrastructure for Big Data investigation and analysis changes everything. Now add to all of this functionality the fact that the SQL performance is up to 100x faster than other offerings and you have an environment that we at NYSE Euronext are extremely excited about."
Jeff Kelly, Big Data analyst, The Wikibon Project
"By integrating the Greenplum database natively within Hadoop, Pivotal HD opens up Big Data analytics to a new class of practitioner - the savvy business user -providing both real-time query responsiveness via a familiar SQL interface and eliminating the need to move data back and forth between Hadoop and separate analytic databases. Most importantly, by providing both real-time and batch analytics capabilities in a single environment, Pivotal HD moves Hadoop several steps closer to realizing its full potential as the de facto, comprehensive Big Data platform of the 21(st) century."
John Myers, senior analyst, Enterprise Management Associates
"The Pivotal HD release reflects the results of recent Enterprise Management Associates Big Data Research and our vision for the Hybrid Data Ecosystem. With the sharing of a common data store via HDFS and processing information based on business requirements via either a SQL or NoSQL access, Pivotal recognizes that different analytical challenges require different processing/access layers."
Sam Grocott, vice president of marketing and product management, EMC Isilon
"The introduction of Pivotal HD, combined with EMC Isilon's native integration of the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) protocol, continues the evolution of the industry's first and only enterprise-proven Hadoop solution on a scale-out NAS architecture. This powerful combination succeeds in reducing the complexities traditionally associated with Hadoop deployments and allows enterprises to easily extract business value from unstructured data."

BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Truphone today gave the first public demonstration of Truphone+, its upcoming phone service that combines GSM services with its internet calling capabilities (VoIP). Truphone+ allows users to make either standard calls over traditional mobile networks or calls over Wi-Fi, with a new intelligent calling system automatically choosing the best option. Truphone+ can deliver coverage and even HD audio to customers who otherwise have no signal, letting them stay connected wherever they are.
"I, like many people, don't have reliable mobile coverage at my home in the countryside - or even in my London office," said Truphone founder and CTO James Tagg. "The Truphone+ service will let me use my phone normally, whether I'm on the cellular phone network or not."
Truphone+ will be an automatic upgrade for all new Truphone SIM customers who download the free Truphone App, which is available on iOS, Android and BlackBerry 10 devices. The Truphone App will include additional features that complement Truphone+, such as call encryption and a call cost indicator that tells you the cost per minute, before you dial.
Truphone+ is also fully compatible with existing Truphone services, such as the ability to have multiple international numbers on a single SIM.
Truphone+ is planned for release in Q2 2013.
Key features of Truphone+ include:
-- Combined mobile phone network and Wi-Fi service - Truphone+ lets you
make and receive calls over Wi-Fi when standard networks aren't
available, with exactly the same experience
-- Eliminate bill shock: A call cost indicator displays the precise
per-minute cost so the user can decide when and where they want to make
a call

have to do is press 'call', the rest is seamless

by letting you choose which devices ring when you are called

Truphone Upgrades Free App With Cost Prediction, Encrypted Calling and Reactive Sound Quality
NEW VERSION OF APPLE AND ANDROID APPS SHOWCASE NEXT STEP ON PATH TO CONVERGED GSM AND Wi-Fi SERVICE
BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Truphone is pleased to announce new versions of its applications for Android and iOS devices, adding features such as a call cost indicator that informs users how much a call will cost per minute even before they dial.
Other new features added as part of the Truphone 5.1 App update include encrypted internet calling and a reactive voice engine that ensures users always receive the best possible sound quality, no matter where they are. Truphone is also introducing market-leading calling rates to 150 countries and eliminating call connection fees.
"We're making the smartphone into a better phone - one that is easier to use, costs less and makes better quality calls," said Duncan Steblyna, Product Manager at Truphone.
"If you're not sure how much the call will cost, you might not want to pick up the phone - but if you can see that the call is free, or just a few pennies per minute then you'll just press call."
Steblyna continues: "Experience shows us that if you have better quality calls, you will make more of them - so we have created a way to make sure the call is always made at the best available sound quality and can even adapt in the middle of a conversation."
The v5.1 App update paves the way for Truphone+, a service Truphone will release later in 2013 and which will bring together the GSM and internet calling services into one integrated network. Truphone+ will allow users to move seamlessly between the Truphone international mobile network and Wi-Fi zones, thereby offering better value and call quality.

Consumer Portal Selects EZLynx Rating Engine for Real Time Pricing
MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Project CAP has selected EZLynx to be the key real-time rating technology partner for Project CAP's enhanced TrustedChoice.com website, which is set to launch nationwide in 2013, announced Charles "Chip" Bacciocco, CEO of Project CAP, site developer of the enhanced TrustedChoice.com.
The EZLynx Rating Engine will be used to power the website's 'get a quote' function and allow consumers shopping online to get accurate, real-time quotes for home and auto insurance from multiple insurance companies.
From the day it launches in mid-2013, the enhanced TrustedChoice.com website will give consumers in all 50 states the ability to research insurance topics, and find information on insurance companies and local independent agents. As the 'get a quote' functionality is introduced on a state-by-state basis throughout 2013, the website will also provide accurate real-time quoting from multiple insurance companies.
"Our past experience with our own lead generation service told us very clearly that consumers prefer to research insurance and get price quotes online," said Nag Rao, president of Webcetera. "But then they prefer to buy from a local agent. Direct writers and captive agent companies simply cannot offer consumers the kind of choices our independent agents bring to bear. We are very excited to be part of this industry-changing initiative."
"The enhanced TrustedChoice.com is meant to complement the strengths of the independent agents and give consumers a way to readily access agents, insurance information and pricing on the web," explained Bacciocco of Project CAP. "Independent agents have always offered a highly attractive combination of local service, advocacy, and choice of carriers that distinguishes independent agents from the limited offerings of direct and captive agent channels."
"EZLynx pioneered the concept of real-time quoting from multiple insurance companies and is the leading agency solution vendor for independent agents. We are really happy that their technology will provide additional capabilities to TrustedChoice.com," Bacciocco said. "The new portal will launch in 2013 and transform the way consumers shop for and buy insurance."
About Project CAP: Created through an industry alliance of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America, Inc. and six insurance companies, Project CAP's new web portal, which is under development, utilizes TrustedChoice.com and will offer consumers a one-stop-shop to get multiple insurance quotes and to choose from multiple independent insurance agents all in
one place. The enhanced TrustedChoice.com functionality is being developed by Project CAP, an initiative of Consumer Agent Portal, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company formed in 2011. For more information, please visit http://www.ProjectCAPmarketing.com.
About EZLynx: EZLynx is the leading client lifecycle management solutions vendor for the agency market place. RSA and Juniper Networks to Expand Technology Partnership to Address Advanced Threats and Mobile Security
Collaboration on Threat Intelligence and Secure Mobile Access to Help Customers Detect and Prevent Advanced Threats and Enable Mobile Productivity Securely
-- RSA and Juniper Networks announced their intent to expand their
technology partnership to help enable customers to detect and prevent
advanced threats and enhance the security and usability of remote access
for mobile users.
-- The expanded collaboration will include sharing of threat intelligence
contained in the new Juniper Networks Junos(®) Spotlight Secure global
attacker intelligence service and the RSA(®) Live threat intelligence
delivery system to help IT security staff reduce the time it takes to
identify, assess, and respond to incidents.
-- Juniper Networks intends to embed RSA mobile authentication technologies
into the Juniper Networks Junos Pulse SSL Secure product, to secure and
streamline the mobile user experience when accessing both corporate and
cloud-based resources.
Full Story:
RSA, The Security Division of EMC (NYSE: EMC) and Juniper Networks (NYSE: JNPR), the industry leader in network innovation, today announced their intent to expand their technology partnership designed to help customers stop the wave of advanced threats targeting their networks and securely enable mobile access to applications for increased productivity.
As the limits of legacy security techniques such as IP-based reputation databases and signature-based anti-virus products become more evident, customers increasingly need to rely on threat intelligence to help stop advanced threats. Today, intelligence operations -- whether military, counterterrorism, or cyber security -- rely on the breadth of sources and techniques to be as effective as possible. Unfortunately, broad scale intelligence sharing amongst IT security vendors is limited, leaving customers with serious visibility gaps into the threat landscape.
RSA and Juniper are addressing these limitations by creating a technology partnership that would provide extensive intelligence sharing between the RSA(®) Live threat intelligence delivery service and Juniper Networks Junos(®) Spotlight Secure global attacker intelligence service. RSA intends to use this to extend threat visibility and analytics within RSA(®) Security Analytics, providing deeper insight and visibility of threats to customers. Juniper intends to embed this additional intelligence into network enforcement points, such as the Juniper Networks(®) SRX Series Services Gateway firewall product, in order to more effectively block threats in real-time.
The Junos Spotlight Secure global attacker intelligence service captures and shares digital fingerprints of attacker devices in real-time, providing better precision in tracking and blocking attackers than IP reputation databases. The RSA Live solution is designed to focus on malicious networks, including command-and-control and advanced threat-related domains. The sharing of these sources and techniques is anticipated to help provide customers with unparalleled visibility into the attacks which target their networks, as well as the ability to more quickly and effectively block and mitigate them.
In addition, RSA and Juniper intend to build on a previous agreement announced in 2012 to help enable mobile security services tying strong authentication with secure remote access to extend the security model and streamline the mobile user experience when accessing both corporate and cloud-based resources. The two companies are engaged in ongoing interoperability testing so that RSA mobile authentication technologies work with the Juniper Networks Junos(®) Pulse SSL Secure solution for secure, mobile remote access to corporate resources. The companies also intend to collaborate further to enable Junos Pulse SSL Secure to authenticate native mobile application access to present a unified access point for both VPN and mobile applications.
RSA Executive Quote:
Art Coviello, Executive Chairman, RSA and Executive Vice President, EMC Corporation
"Two of the most common requests we get from customers are about improving information sharing and enabling them to deploy greater security on mobile devices. This expanded technology partnership would enable RSA and Juniper to help address both of those key requirements for customers, and set the stage for increased collaboration on a wider range of advanced security challenges."
Juniper Executive Quote:
Nawaf Bitar, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Security Business Unit, Juniper Networks
"The future of cyber security is centered around enabling real-time sharing of intelligence to prevent advanced attacks. Juniper and RSA are teaming up to share extensive intelligence and drive the industry forward. Spotlight, Juniper's global attacker intelligence service, announced today, transforms the industry from tracking IP addresses to tracking and stopping individual attackers. When Spotlight is coupled with the RSA Live service, customers win by gaining more complete situational awareness and better prevention of advanced attacks."

Cerium Networks Achieves Microsoft Lync Certified Support Partner Status
New Certification Enables Cerium Networks, Inc to Provide Unique Support Capabilities
SPOKANE, Wash., Feb. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Cerium Networks, Inc, a leading integrator of unified communications has achieved status as a Lync Certified Support Partner. This certification allows Cerium to offer Microsoft backed, single-point-of-contact support services to clients who rely on Microsoft Lync voice systems.
Microsoft Lync combines different forms of communication such as telephony, mail, chat, document sharing and videoconferencing into one singular communication solution. Support for Lync was previously a part of Microsoft's Premier Support Program, which covers all their products. Starting in July 2012 Microsoft began outsourcing Premier Support for Lync Enterprise Voice to its UC Gold partners that have completed the additional training and certification by Microsoft.
"This certification places Cerium in a very exclusive category as one of a few partners worldwide to have certified in this program," said Roger Junkermier, President of Cerium Networks. "As our Lync practice continued to expand we committed to the rigors of this certification process to build the skills that would enhance our customer service capabilities. This latest achievement will provide streamlined support for our Lync customers that is backed by Microsoft expertise."
Lync Certified Support Partner status enables Cerium to meet the need for a simple, consistent process that provides maintenance and support for complex systems. Cerium now has access to Microsoft Premier Support escalation engineers, account management assistance, and a commitment from Microsoft to efficiently resolve problems. Other organizations that deploy Lync, who are not Certified, do not have the same access and support from Microsoft.
"When you deploy a Lync voice solution alongside instant messaging/presence, and conferencing, you need a partner that understands the complete solution - software, hardware and network," said Rob Husted, Cerium's Microsoft Practice Leader. "Cerium Networks has developed partnerships with leading manufacturers of Microsoft Lync qualified endpoints, gateways and services so that we can be that single point of contact to support your entire UC infrastructure built on Microsoft Lync."

HOUSTON, Feb. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- As online theft and fraud continue to increase - with no evidence of slowing down - Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliancy has become a critical issue within the restaurant industry. Restaurant online ordering and mobile app ordering are growing trends that indicate PCI compliancy is more crucial than ever before. Revention's online ordering solution, HungerRush, is officially registered with Level 1 PCI Data Security Standard certification.
PCI Data Security Standard is a series of security requirements that any company that stores, processes or transmits credit card data must follow, in order to protect sensitive data and prevent the risk of fraud. Many reputable companies claim to be PCI compliant, but with so many misconceptions in the industry about PCI issues, a large number of these companies are, in fact, not compliant. PCI DSS certification is granted only after a lengthy process that involves many steps and procedures; to obtain this certification takes time, diligence, and true concern for data theft and customer protection.
"Completing the PCI DSS certification was costly and a rigorous process, but worth every minute to ensure we are doing everything we can to protect consumer data and our customers' business," stated Rick Doyle, Chief Technology Officer. After completing the card brand requirements, it is imperative that an online ordering service provider register with the card brands as a PCI compliant company. The card brand will validate the requirements and ensure a certified PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC), Qualified Security Assessor (QSA), and a PCI SSC Approved Scanning Vendor (ASV) were used to complete the requirements. The quickest way to find out if your online ordering company has been approved by Visa and/or MasterCard as a PCI DSS certified service provider is to check the following websites:
A potential breach can damage brand reputation and consumer confidence, but those consequences are secondary to the possibly crippling financial penalties that can be assessed. The best way to minimize data theft is to follow the PCI DSS requirements. Operators should seek technology providers that are present on the card brands PCI complaint list; maintain a strong relationship with the provider and consistently follow their maintenance advice to further reduce risk.
