Singapore Establishes the First-of-its-Kind Remanufacturing R&D Centre in Asia

The Advanced Remanufacturing & Technology Centre will drive value-added manufacturing
activities in Singapore through private-public R&D collaborations
Singapore today announced the establishment of the Advanced Remanufacturing &
Technology Centre (ARTC), the first centre in Asia to look into research and development
(R&D) to develop technologies for remanufacturing that can be readily adopted by industry.
These technologies will enable companies and businesses to translate end-of-life products
into "good as new" ones for the market through a sustainable process, contributing to
greater cost and materials savings and, potentially, higher profit margins.
Six industry leaders, namely Boeing, Rolls-Royce plc, Siemens Industry Software, ABB,
FUCHS Lubricants and Carl Zeiss, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Centre
to look into collaborative R&D to bridge technological gaps in remanufacturing for the
aerospace, oil & gas, marine, energy, automotive and engineering industries. In doing so,
ARTC will tap on A*STAR's Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology's (SIMTech) R&D
expertise in automation, manufacturing systems and processes, as well as the strong
capabilities of local universities such as Nanyang Technological University, to carry out
R&D in production-ready technologies in the areas of repair and restoration, surface
enhancement and product verification.
Eight local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have also joined the Centre to
co-develop technologies along with leading multinational corporations (MNCs).

The Benefits of Remanufacturing
Remanufacturing is a sustainable process that involves transforming a recovered part
or product through disassembly, cleaning, testing and other operations into like-new
products to be reintroduced to the markets. Remanufactured products are tested and
certified to meet technical and safety specifications of new products, and are therefore
sometimes sold with warranties comparable to the original. The process is more efficient
than recycling because it conserves not only the raw material content, but also retains
much of the value added during the manufacturing of the product.
Remanufacturing is already commonly applied in the aerospace, marine, automotive and
engineering industries. A report by Global Industry Analysts (GIA) predicts that the
global automotive remanufacturing market is expected to reach US$104.8 billion by 2015.

The Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation Grants DKK 15 Million to Milestone Research Project

The project totals DKK 30 million for Milestone Systems to develop
next-generation video surveillance technology in cooperation with Nabto, Securitas and two
universities
In a collaboration between leading researchers at Aalborg University (AAU) and
Technical University of Denmark (DTU), as well as technology experts from Securitas and
Nabto, Milestone Systems, the open platform company in IP video management software, will
be developing a new, cutting-edge video surveillance solution. Video surveillance can be
used to prevent theft in both private homes and large crowded areas such as railway
stations and airports.
The solution among other things will be able to manage and search metadata, so it will
be possible to quickly find specific video, for example all recordings that contain black
cars recorded within a specific time period at a distance of 200 meters from City Hall.
The solution will also have built-in analytics, making it possible to detect irregular
movement patterns, like unauthorized persons walking around in a yard. Where traditional
systems sound an alarm if there is a burglary or similar, the new solution will give an
alert before the break-in occurs. With this project Milestone Systems hopes to develop a
unique solution that can be sold worldwide.

robberies are solved, as it will become more and more common to buy video surveillance
security packages for private homes. At the same time the solution will result in resource
savings in the security industry because it will reduce responses to many false alarms:

Milestone will bring together leading experts in Denmark, who can contribute to
solving the technical challenges that the project entails.

On May 23, 2012, the Company received the written consent from stockholders holding a majority of its outstanding common stock to permit - but not require - the Board of Directors of the Company to amend its Amended and Restated Certificate of Incorporation to effect a reverse stock split of the Company's common stock at any time prior to April 26, 2013, by a ratio of not less than one-for-two (1:2) and not more than one-for-ten (1:10), as determined by the Board of Directors and to increase the number of authorized shares of the Company's capital stock to 202,000,000 shares of stock, of which 200,000,000 shares would be common stock and 2,000,000 shares would be preferred stock. Changes to Michigan Court Rules Enable Use of ImageSoft Technology and Improve Court Efficiency
SOUTHFIELD, Mich., May 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Courts in the State of Michigan have the opportunity to operate more efficiently now that rules recognizing the legality of electronic signature in the Michigan courts were put in place last week by the Michigan Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court, under the leadership of Chief Justice Robert P. Young, Jr., amended MCR 1.109 to specifically provide for the use of electronic signatures within Michigan Court Rules. This evolutionary step allows courts to further leverage paperless technologies that have been widely accepted in business and government transactions for many years. The changes, which went into effect May 24, will make courts more efficient and improve the justice system for the public. Documents are already signed electronically in some of Michigan's most advanced courts, however this change will allow the technology to expand court-wide.
Specifically, the Court added a new subsection C to Rule 1.109, which provides:
(C) Signatures.
(1) A signature, as required by these court rules and law, means a written signature as defined by MCL 8.3q or an electronic signature as defined by this sub rule.
(2) An electronic signature means an electronic sound, symbol or process, attached to or logically associated with a record and executed or adopted by a person with the intent to sign the record.
(3) If a law or court rule requires a signature to be notarized or made under oath, the requirement is satisfied if the electronic signature of the person authorized to perform those acts, together with all other information required to be included by other applicable law or court rule, is attached to or logically associated with the signature.
(4) Retention of a signature electronically affixed to a document that will be retained by the court in electronic format must not be dependent upon the mechanism that was used to affix that signature.
"Courts need technology to improve processes and judicial outcomes and these tools are imperative to that model," said ImageSoft President Scott Bade. "Courts generally lag behind in technology, and this is a good thing, because we want our criminal justice system to change prudently. This ruling recognizes that this technology has been vetted and is now ready for widespread adoption," said Bade.

DVDFab for Mac 8.1.8.4: Fixes Made to Allow More Choices for iPad Video Conversion

Fengtao Software, released this updated build of all-in-one software package for multimedia solutions, for Mac OS X this time, with Windows edition still in 8.1.7.8 official status. This newest Mac version came out supporting more audio channel options while converting videos for iPad and with many other important fixes.
At the top of the fix list, developers confirmed that they had fixed a bug that resulted in the DVDFab burning engine not being able to be used when any DVDFab option was expired and another problem that resulted in trial users being unable to launch DVDFab for Mac in certain cases.
More concretely, in its DVD Copy for Mac component, a crash problem when opening DVD folder source in certain cases was fixed. Next, in DVD Ripper for Mac option, developers corrected the "No choice of 5.1 multi-channels when using iPad.h264.multichannel profile" issue, and a crash problem when clicking "Conversion Settings" button in "Task Queue" window in certain cases. Furthermore, in Blu-ray Copy for Mac segment, developers added additional support to region A movies, and new support to new Java-based protection. Besides this, they successfully eliminated a black screen playback problem when copying "Full Disc", debugged a problem that made some special discs unusable, and corrected an issue with the BDAV disc not being able to be opened on certain drives. Last, in its Video Converter section, three small issues were resolved: a 502.12.7 problem when converting with "avi.xvid.audiocopy" profiles, a 504.00.12 problem when converting with most MKV and MP4 profiles and, a freeze problem when converting with "audiocopy" profiles.
