Tektronix Communications Enables Smooth Transition to Next-Gen Networks
New Spectra2 release brings improved performance, functionality and ease-of-use for testing and characterizing next-generation components in mixed environments
PLANO, Texas, May 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Tektronix Communications, the leading provider of customer experience, network test and service assurance solutions, today announced that the Company is helping operators make the transition to next generation networks with the newly enhanced, award-winning Spectra2 core network test solution. As operators upgrade their network technologies to LTE, IMS and IP to meet the needs of today's data-hungry consumers, they must continue to ensure the end-to-end quality of network and services. To do so, equipment manufacturers and operators need to fully characterize and test their networks, subsystems and new network elements to ensure that they are operating properly and within specification under loaded conditions that simulate real-world traffic.
"As operators transition from legacy TDM to all-IP networks, innovative solutions are required that can bridge both legacy and next-generation technology domains to ensure a smooth transition for the operator and their customers," said Chris Buhlmann, Vice President and General Manager, Core Test Business, Tektronix Communications. "With overall improved performance, new hardware modules, flexible chassis options, and as the only integrated solution on the market that can test IMS, NGN, VoIP and legacy PSTN technologies, Spectra2 V8.0 meets the needs of the market for the next wave of application and media growth in the connected world."
With hundreds of users around the world, release 8.0 for the Spectra2 will provide equipment manufacturers and network operators with exceptional performance with the required flexibility to fully characterize and test their legacy and next-generation network elements and sub-systems. This is especially important today given the increasing complexity and functionality of network components that are being designed for use in multi-vendor and multi-protocol environments, hence accelerating the need for a high-performance functional and load test system that allows engineers to more accurately test and optimize their components under real-world conditions before they move to production, where errors are considerably more expensive to fix.
Key highlights in the Spectra2 8.0 release include:
-- NEW High Performance 3U Chassis: The Spectra2 3U is a high performance
chassis geared towards multi-user, multi-workspace functional and load
test environments, with two hexacore processors and a native 64-bit
operating environment for improved performance across legacy and
next-generation protocols and technologies. With the V8.0 release,
Spectra2 3U delivers breakthrough performance in calls per second (CPS)
and the number of open calls. For example, Spectra2 3U can achieve a
signaling load of 100 thousand CPS for Diameter or 10 million open calls
for ISUP.
-- NEW Test Extension Module for Field Portability: This new addition for
the Spectra2|SE product provides the world's only high performance
portable TDM to IP test solution for field testing, with unmatched
performance and portability for technicians on the move, providing
best-in-class troubleshooting, installation and turn-up capabilities.
-- NEW Productivity Features: Version 8.0 introduces several new features
that greatly increase end-user productivity and accuracy.
-- Auto-scripting - allows users to reproduce SIP production
environments accurately and in a fraction of the time as opposed to
building them using traditional approaches.
-- Raw media injection - improves overall media test accuracy by using
real-world media captured in the production environment. This allows
for more accurate testing and debugging leading to an overall
improved QoS.
"As network data continues to explode, network components are becoming functionally more complex, and having to operate in environments that involve multiple technologies, vendors and standards. Because of this, niche solutions are quickly becoming obsolete," said Olga Yashkova, test and measurement practice manager at Frost & Sullivan. "Test and design engineers responsible for deploying new elements in today's environments, require load test solutions such as the Spectra2 8.0 release that can cover the breadth of legacy and next-generation technologies required, in addition to offering both high-performance and flexibility from a single vendor in order to design, test and deploy network elements faster and more efficiently than in the past."
About Spectra2|SE2 This software only test solution provides high capacity IP signaling and media testing in the field. This laptop-based functional, load, and monitoring solution enables cross domain IP testing with media. Call scenarios from the field can be captured and imported directly to a Spectra2 server in the lab. This approach integrates field experience into the lab to avoid getting burned by the same problem twice.

Apical is pleased to announce that Bang & Olufsen's latest TVs BeoPlay V1 incorporate

Apical is helping Bang & Olufsen to continue its leadership in the quality of the TV
viewing experience via its advanced video algorithm, Assertive Display, which is based on

without impacting viewing quality.
Says Michael Tusch, CEO Apical: "That Bang & Olufsen has chosen to integrate Assertive
Display in their latest TVs is a strong endorsement of the technology and we're all glad
that our efforts to meet the very high demands of such a product have been successful. We
think that Bang & Olufsen's customers will really notice the benefits our technology
brings to maximizing their overall experience."
Says Ben Verbraak, Senior Manager, R&D at Bang & Olufsen: "Since people watch TV under

gave them the best possible quality in all those conditions without compromise. Bang &
Olufsen's Automatic Picture Control feature, part of the overall Vision Clear concept, has
now been brought to a new level by including Apical's technology. The Assertive Display
algorithm has proven to be very effective in helping us achieve this goal."

Academy Award® and Golden Globe® Nominee Virginia Madsen, Stephen Moyer, Caitlin Gerard Star in the New Series
Available now on YouTube
LOS ANGELES, May 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, award-winning filmmakers Jon Avnet ("Black Swan," "Fried Green Tomatoes," "Risky Business") and Rodrigo Garcia ("Albert Nobbs," "In Treatment," "Mother and Child") launch "Jan," the first WIGS series from a comprehensive slate of new, original programming.
The digital channel's premiere series, "Jan,"is written and directed by Jon Avnet. Jan (Caitlin Gerard) wins a national competition that allows her to assist acclaimed photographer, Mel Karpova (Virginia Madsen). It's a dream first job, but a series of blunders make it feel more like a nightmare. An unlikely upside is the attention of a movie star, Gerald Noth (Stephen Moyer), at a photo shoot. However, his constant knight-in-shining-armor attempts to help Jan often cause even more trouble for her. Jan's journey becomes increasingly chaotic when her deeply troubled ex-boyfriend Robbie (Kyle Gallner) enters her life again.
"It was a pleasure working with Stephen and Virginia," remarked Jon Avnet. "Seeing how encouraging and supportive they were of Caitlin, Laura and Kyle made the experience really memorable. And after completing the series, hearing Stephen and Virginia speak so glowingly of these younger performers was the icing on the cake."
The first three episodes are currently available worldwide in English and Spanish on youtube.com/wigs, youtube.com/wigsespanol and watchwigs.com. In total, the series is comprised of 15 episodes and will be distributed online over the next four weeks, with new episodes premiering on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Ruckus Delivers Best-to-Market Wi-Fi with the Introduction of the Fastest and Most Affordable Indoor Smart Wi-Fi Products
Industry's Broadest Wi-Fi Portfolio Gets Stronger with the Highest Performance, Highest Capacity Three-Stream and Most Affordable Entry-Level 802.11n APs for Carriers and Enterprises
SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Ruckus Wireless(TM) (http://www.ruckuswireless.com) today announced the industry's highest capacity three-stream (ZoneFlex 7982) and most affordable dual-stream (ZoneFlex 7321) 802.11n Smart Wi-Fi access points for carriers and enterprises requiring increased wireless performance, capacity, unparalleled ease of use and greater business value -- particularly within high-density environments.
Available immediately, the Ruckus ZoneFlex 7982 and ZoneFlex 7321 enhance the high and low ends of the Wi-Fi market, making Ruckus the industry's leading supplier of enterprise and carrier-class Wi-Fi with the richest collection of indoor and outdoor solutions in performance, design, and price point.
The new ZoneFlex 7982 and 7321 Smart Wi-Fi access points were developed for enterprises and telecom operators face similar pressures from myriad of new users armed with wireless-only mobile devices, accessing a richer mix of multimedia traffic. Meanwhile, mobile wireless usage is continuing to shift indoors. Within enterprise environments, the majority of Wi-Fi use is inside buildings during working hours. And for operators, network analysis has shown that the majority of mobile data usage, close to 80 percent, is indoor and nomadic, rather than truly mobile.
Delivering consistent performance and maintaining stable connections within such high-capacity environments - and to smart mobile devices that constantly change their location and orientation - have become major concerns. The simple variation of a device's orientation can account for up to a 5x performance degradation among Wi-Fi products unable to adapt to such changes.
The Best Wi-Fi Money Can Buy
Designed to solve these growing problems, the ZoneFlex 7982 and ZoneFlex 7321 integrate a unique collection of technologies not found in any other Wi-Fi system. These unique capabilities increase signal gain, mitigate RF interference and allow each ZoneFlex AP to adapt to the changing nature of Wi-Fi signals from each connected mobile device.
The Ruckus ZoneFlex 7982 is the only three-stream 802.11n access point to combine dynamic polarization diversity with adaptive antenna arrays and transmit beamforming technologies to give customers up to a 4x improvement in Wi-Fi performance, signal gain and reception.
The ZoneFlex 7321, the industry's most affordable dual-stream 802.11n access point, is well suited for emerging markets and single AP deployments - not only where the demand for mobile Internet services is also rising but where tighter economic constraints on network investments dictate a balance toward lower cost over sheer performance.
"Like most school districts, we are getting bombarded by students and faculty bringing new mobile devices into our classrooms," said Joe McBreen, CIO of St. Vrain Valley School District in Longmont, Colorado. "This is driving a complete shift in how we approach Wi-Fi. Up to now, providing ubiquitous coverage was the primary issue. But now the problems are user density, reliability and overall system capacity." St. Vrain Valley School District, a 47-school district with 27,000 students, recently replaced a network of Cisco APs with more than 1,000 ZoneFlex 802.11n APs.
"The demands for constant connectivity and much greater capacity led us to adopt the Ruckus ZoneFlex system across our entire district," McBreen continued. "The new Ruckus three-stream AP is simply the highest capacity AP we've ever seen -- giving us even more power and reliability with fewer APs, and superior performance in all corners of our district. With this system in place we can support increasing demands on the network for years to come."
Raising the Bar at the High End
Designed for high-capacity environments, the ZoneFlex 7982 is the only dual-band, three-stream 802.11n access point equipped with a patented, dual-polarized adaptive antenna array. This allows the simultaneous operation of adaptive antenna selection and transmit beamforming, to deliver up to 9dB of signal-to-interference and noise (SINR) improvement and up to 15dB of interference mitigation.
Ideal for high-traffic locations such as hotspots, airports, stadiums, schools, hotels and public venues, the ZoneFlex 7982, based on the latest generation Atheros three-stream high-performance chipset, is capable of supporting up to 500 concurrent clients, offering a 2x to 4x increase in performance and range, and a 4dB improvement in receive sensitivity over alternative access points.
In competitive three-stream testing by Ruckus, the ZoneFlex 7982 performed up to four times faster than other three-stream products at all distances. The tests were conducted in a university environment, measuring aggregate TCP throughput in real-world, non-line of sight conditions across the 2.4 and 5GHz bands simultaneously to a three-stream Apple MacBook Pro located at 30, 60 and 120 feet.
To ensure enhanced mobile device performance, the ZoneFlex 7982 is the only three-stream 802.11n AP that dynamically sends and receives Wi-Fi signals at different angles (polarizations). When used with maximal ratio combining (MRC), a method where more receivers are used to gather signals from each channel and add them together to get the best result, the use of polarization diversity can yield an addition 4dB of effective receive sensitivity.
By combining MRC with polarization diversity, the ZoneFlex 7982 is able to capture the full signal of mobile devices even as they vary their orientation. This gives carriers and enterprises the unique benefit of stable connectivity at higher speeds delivered to mobile and moving devices at greater distances - particularly important for tablets and smartphones that tend to remain in constant motion.
Raising the Bar at the Low End
Within an ultra lightweight (7oz./198gm.) and compact footprint (5"Lx 5"Wx1"H/ 13cm L x 13cm D x 2.8cm H) the ZoneFlex 7321 supports up to 256 concurrent users and brings a new level of price/performance to the value end of the Wi-Fi market. The industry's most feature-rich and affordable entry-level 802.11n AP, the ZoneFlex 7321 is dual-band selectable, making it ideal for smaller, single AP deployments such as hotspots, SMBs and remote offices as well as in emerging economies requiring more affordable, robust solutions.
Unique in its class, the 7321 supports transmit beamforming and capacity-driven channel selection to deliver high performance and extended range with up to 4dB improvement in signal gain.
ChannelFly(TM), supported on all Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi access points, is a capacity-driven channel selection technology that learns the channel capacity environment in real time to ensure the best channel selection and interference mitigation in areas with Wi-Fi congestion. With ChannelFly, maximum throughput is delivered to clients at all times through innovative network-wide channel plans that maximize spectrum re-use, and two-stream client performance is greatly improved.
Both ZoneFlex 7982 and 7321 support standard 802.3af power over Ethernet (PoE) and can be deployed as either standalone wireless routers or as part of a centrally managed Smart WLAN.
In addition, both products support a variety of advanced features including bandsteering, airtime fairness, and predictive, capacity-drive channel selection (ChannelFly). When used with ZoneDirector, the ZoneFlex 7982 and 7321 offer a wide range of value-added applications such as SmartMesh networking, client load-balancing, time-based broadcasting, dynamic per-user rate limiting, guest networking, hotspot authentication, wireless intrusion prevention and dynamic pre-shared keys.
Pricing and Availability
Available immediately, the ZoneFlex 7982 and ZoneFlex 7321 come with a limited lifetime warranty and are list priced starting at USD $1099 and USD $349, respectively.

Arch's new "Instant Forms" Save Business Users Time and Money in Generating e-forms Within SAP(R) Applications While Helping Ensure IT Security
ORLANDO, Florida, May 14, 2012/PRNewswire/ --
Arch, an SAP partner, announced today the latest addition to its Forms Lifecycle
Management (FLM) product family, "Instant Forms". Instant Forms allows business users to
save time and money by instantly generating a huge range of electronic form (e-forms)
within SAP(R) applications through a simple, intuitive Web-based interface. IT managers
will value the fact that Instant Forms is one of the only solutions of its kind to be
integrated with SAP technology, which means that the forms data and processes are managed
directly from within SAP applications, rather than from non-integrated and potentially
insecure systems.
Today businesses need enterprise-quality e-forms to be available on an ad-hoc basis to
drive significant business processes. Instant Forms are an extension of Arch's
award-winning FLM software, an SAP-endorsed business solution, which many enterprises have
adopted as a robust alternative to stand-alone form solutions and e-mail, both of which
inherently lack control, tracking and reporting capabilities. The benefits of Instant
Forms to end users and IT managers include:
- Instant Availability
Business users can build forms instantly, using an intuitive, Web-based tool. Once the
product is installed, no further involvement from the IT team is required.
- Instant Adoption
Users can start using Instant Forms straight away. The tools are self-explanatory,
with in-built help. There is no need for any training.
- Instant Mobility
Instant Forms are available on mobile devices like iPads with no investment in
infrastructure or other applications because Instant Forms are published using HTML.
- Instant integration
Instant Forms come with "instant integration" with all form templates and form data
stored within SAP applications. No new servers or client-side software is required. Access
to forms, and the ability to design forms is controlled using SAP authorizations. Standard
FLM tools for audit and tracking can be used to administer the forms processes created.
Linklaters, the global law firm, is an FLM customer, with early sight of Instant
Forms. Simeon Brewer, enterprise architect at Linklaters, said ""Ensuring forms processes
are both efficient and reliable has delivered great value to our business using Arch's FLM
software. We have enjoyed an excellent relationship with Arch and trust in their products
and services. We intend to explore how Instant Forms could deliver further business
improvements and efficiency savings."
More E-Forms Everywhere
Arch's Forms Lifecycle Manager is part of SAP's e-forms strategy, incorporating SAP
Interactive Forms software by Adobe and Arch FLM. These integrated offerings help users
automate forms data entry, improve user experiences and increase compliance. Users can
streamline and automate the complete lifecycle of forms, from design to compliance.
"Instant Forms is aimed at the millions of business users who need simple forms and
can't wait for IT to build them," said Henry Blythe, CEO, Arch. "Every customer using SAP
solutions can benefit from using Instant Forms to deliver tangible results quickly. Our
aim is to enable companies to realize benefits instantly without significant investments
in software licensing and IT projects."
"Arch FLM is a key part of SAP's vision of e-forms everywhere," said Sanjay
Chikarmane, senior vice president and general manager, Global Technology Solutions, SAP.
"SAP is committed to simplifying the user experience and usability of our solutions
through cooperation with our ecosystem. By adding the Instant Forms component to its mix
of offerings, Arch is making it even easier for business users to create and use simple
forms that provide powerful ways to access SAP solutions. This can lead to customers
gaining increased value from SAP solutions, including the SAP NetWeaver(R) platform."

Mobilizing Work Tasks for Employees On the Go
Entering travel expenses is a necessary evil for many workers. Most travel and expense systems require an employee to log onto back-office systems from a computer. SAP is empowering mobile workers to easily enter expenses while on the road, freeing them from tedious re-entry at a later date. The SAP® Travel Expense Report mobile app allows business travelers to easily create expense reports from a mobile device. For example, users can save time by adding corporate credit card charges or quickly taking a photo of a receipt to submit expenses with a few clicks directly from a restaurant.
With the new SAP® Learning Assistant mobile app, SAP helps learners explore and consume learning content anywhere and anytime. The app accesses SAP® Learning Solution and allows learners to explore available learning content, manage course bookings and download and play e-learning content online in a range of formats right from their iPads. Learners can view personal notifications for expiring and required qualifications, as well as the recommended courses to fulfill them on time. Employees who to consume learning content off-site can now do so quickly and easily even in unconnected mode.
For sales executives the SAP® Customer Briefing mobile app provides a real-time dashboard to help prepare them for customer interactions. This allows immediate access to critical client data in an easily consumable format. The app provides real-time visibility to internal customer relationship management (CRM) data, as well as external business, and news sources, while on the road. Sales professionals can easily view customer information in a visual format, helping ensure they are exceptionally well prepared for every customer meeting.
Companiesfocused on improving safety will have faster visibility to problems with the SAP® EHS Safety Issuemobile app. Workers can log issues from their mobile device with a photo or video, as well as an audio recording, and send it directly to an incident or safety manager for corrective action. The app makes it easy for everyone to participate in creating a safer, more sustainable work environment and proactively reduce operational risks.
Bringing Mobile Commerce to Consumers and Businesses
With billions of mobile apps downloaded to date and hundreds of millions of mobile commerce users worldwide, what people do with their mobile devices is changing. SAP is supporting this monumental shift through its award-winning mobile customer engagement and commerce platform for banking, telecommunications, utilities, retail and consumer packaged goods. The mobile commerce portfolio from Sybase 365 has already been widely deployed by banks and mobile operators for mobile banking, mobile payments and mobile money services in both developed and emerging markets. This mobile commerce portfolio from Sybase 365 is a key component of the industry-leading SAP mobile platform for powering highly productive business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) mobile apps and services, including:
-- Sybase 365 Mobile Banking, which enables subscribers to pay, buy, bank
and remit money with any mobile device. It allows an end user to use his
mobile phone as a micro bank, performing all banking tasks where instant
information is important, such as inquiring about account balances,
configuring notifications to receive account activity, paying bills,
person-to-person (P2P) money transfers and applying for new products.
This solution is available in retail, small to midsize business and
corporate mobile banking editions.
-- Sybase 365 Mobile Payments, which enables people to leverage a mobile
wallet solution to pay bills and loans, make domestic P2P payments to
known and unknown beneficiaries, remit money, top-up and pay for goods
and services. The solution includes all the tools and services for
managing merchants and for emerging markets managing agent networks.
-- Sybase 365 Mobile Money, which enables financial institutions to offer a
branchless financial inclusion service that allows them to offer
financial products to un-banked and under-banked customer segments in a
highly cost-effective manner, entirely through the mobile device. For
the end user, mobile money supports money transfers, balance inquiries,
bill payments, cash in/cash out via agents and self-service machines, as
well as micro-payments and loan repayments. For bank agents, it offers a
full suite of customer enrollment, KYC (Know Your Customer) details,
reports, fee tracking and much more.
Numerous leading financial institutions and mobile operators, including Dutch Bangla-Bank, First Tennessee Bank and Telefonica, are providing their customers with live mobile commerce apps and services built on top of the Sybase 365 mobile commerce portfolio.
Mobilizing Across Industries
SAP is extending the value of key systems of record by mobilizing business processes across healthcare, insurance and retail industries:
-- Retail shoppers and employees can benefit from the SAP® In-Store
Product Lookup mobile app, which creates a new experience for retail
shoppers and employees by helping store managers and associates on the
floor better assist customers. For example, store employees can locate
the availability of an item with current stock information in real-time,
eliminating the need for shoppers to wait at the checkout counter. The
app also displays product details and stock levels both in-store and in
nearby stores, as well as the ability to adjust inventory.
-- Insurance companies can improve customer service with the SAP®
Policyholder Lookup mobile app, which allows insurance sales agents to
access policy and claim details of policyholders anywhere and anytime.
The app provides increased sales insight and service with up-to-date
customer information, decreasing call volume for claim status and policy
coverage.
SAP® Store and Mobile App Ecosystem Growth
SAP offers a carefully curated mobile platform and enterprise application portfolio designed to expand and accelerate any business' ability to run better with mobile. With the introduction of more than 70 apps from SAP and its partners, SAP continues to expand a network of industry-leading developers, with companies such as Advent Global and Principal Consulting making it possible for complex mobile solutions to become a simple reality.
Advent Global's Go Sell mobile app is a comprehensive sales force automation app that enables sales professionals to be connected and sell on the go. With instant access to their handheld devices, sales professionals can log calls, respond to hot leads, and access vital information such as opportunities and dashboards across the complete order-to-cash process wherever they are. The app not only saves precious time, but also eliminates the process overhead of carrying physical reports/forms and dependency on sales office for real-time information. The app runs on Android, iPhone, iPad, Blackberry and Windows Mobile devices and utilizes data from the SAP® ERP Central Component (SAP ECC) component and SAP® CRM application.
The Principal Consulting Group successfully runs an app called the Project Manager, which allows users to effectively manage their projects while out of the office. The app provides customers with a complete end-to-end project management functionality including: the ability to review and update projects, review work-breakdown-structures, coordinate team members and project assignments, capture time for project tasks to be completed and review dashboards and critical KPIs. The app saves time and cost, while providing all the information needed for a project manager to run the task on time and on budget. The app is available for all major mobile devices.
An HTML5 version of SAP Store for iPad and tablets is now available, delivering a dynamic user experience. New versions of SAP Store native mobile application for iOS ("SAP Mobile Apps" in iTunes) and Android ("SAP Store" in Google Play Store) platforms have also been made available for an end-to-end buying process for mobile solutions, including credit card enablement for payment.
Expanding SAP apps Across Platforms
SAP is continuing to evolve and build the mobile app ecosystem with updated features and expanded platform availability to existing apps, including:

representatives or account executives to check the system financial
status of their customers anywhere and anytime, is now available on iPad

company by approving payments anywhere and anytime, is now available on

eCX platform and portal creates marketplace for efficient asset monetization; capacity trades to be completed within hours, not weeks
CHICAGO, May 14, 2012/PRNewswire/ --
Epsilon today announces the launch of Epsilon Capacity Exchange (eCX), a new industry
leading bandwidth trading platform. Initially, the service will be available to more than
400 network operators worldwide who are currently pre-connected to the Epsilon Global
Network Exchange. eCX will establish a viable real-time market and trading mechanism,
allowing capacity surpluses and shortages to be addressed, thereby successfully delivering
fast and efficient asset monetization for network operators.
Acting as an independent capacity broker, Epsilon has created a market-making service
that will enable network operators to effectively monetise slack or spare capacity; and
service providers to buy flexibility for scaling, protecting, and even providing temporary
services.
Andreas Hipp, CEO at Epsilon, comments, "Today's telecoms services have to be both
lean and agile. The customary methods of brokering deals can saddle operators with slack
capacity while starving fast moving players hungry for extra bandwidth. A true trading
system for buying and selling capacity will eliminate these inefficiencies, to everyone's
benefit. This is what Epsilon has set out to achieve. We have ensured that all legal,
commercial and technical prerequisites for real-time bandwidth trading are now in place;
global connectivity, SLA and contract agreements, real-time inventory and trading and, of
course, market independence.
"Against a historical background of high profile failures, bandwidth trading is
controversial for many. But we're not going back to the 90s; instead, we are reinventing
bandwidth trading for a new era."
Leaning on its carrier-neutral position and leveraging its Global Network Exchange,
which connects over 350 wholesale customers and 50 suppliers at 60 points of presence
around the world, Epsilon is uniquely positioned to offer a platform that will execute
trades and deliver a bandwidth service almost instantly to benefit both buyers and
sellers.
Epsilon has developed a pragmatic and pre-agreed legal trading framework, worked with
its partners to define standardised capacity 'products', and designed and implemented the
rich, front-end user interface, trading engine and inventory management platforms that
power the service.
The service will be delivered by the eCX trading platform and portal, and facilitated
by the Epsilon Global Network Exchange (eGNE). It incorporates:
1) Standardised assets for trade
2) A real-time inventory of assets and routes (self-administered by sellers)
3) A pricing and trading engine providing a complete market view to buyers
4) An automated, online procurement option
5) A simplified and standardised set of trading processes and rules
6) A market place of 400 pre-connected buyers and sellers at launch
Tim Stronge, analyst at market research firm TeleGeography, comments, "Although
bandwidth trading has had a chequered past, its potential to bring benefit to the industry
has not gone unnoticed or debated in recent years. With this new platform, Epsilon
certainly has the potential to create a real market of buyers and sellers - we'll be
following it with interest."
Hipp concludes, "eCX is a significant innovation that has the real potential to
benefit all corners of the wholesale industry. Our Global Network Exchange is the key to
bringing together large numbers of potential buyers and sellers. Given that inherent
scale, and the interest already expressed within that community, we are confident that
there is the necessary 'liquidity' to make this a success today. eCX is the means to
transact those deals quickly, easily and at minimal cost."
Extricom to Showcase and Present at the Business Stadium Summit
NEW YORK, May 14, 2012/PRNewswire/ --
Extricom Ltd., a developer of high-performance, next generation enterprise wireless
LAN that provides seamless mobility and high throughput with their patented Channel
Blanket(TM) architecture to critical applications in warehouses, hospitals, schools and
public venues is pleased to announce that it will be exhibiting at the Business Stadium
Summit, taking place in Turin, Italy, May 14-16, 2012.
The Business Stadium Summit is the largest dedicated meeting in the world for owners,
operators and developers of the world's leading stadiums, arenas, and major sport venues.
WLAN [http://www.extricom.com/category/what-is-channel-blanket ] is quickly becoming a
'must-have' for large public venues (LPVs) that want to maintain or enhance their
competitive edge, and maximize profits. With the majority of sports and music fans now
being mobile device owners, these devices can be leveraged with important new revenue
opportunities for LPV operators, as well as providing an enhanced entertainment experience
for fans. Cellular networks were not designed to support the ultra-high user densities and
data requirements of large events, so a reliable, high-bandwidth WLAN is essential. The
WLAN can also be leveraged to provide enhanced broadband communications to press room and
VIP areas, and simultaneously support other key facets of LPV operation, such as video
security.
Traditional WLAN architectures are not up to this challenge. That's why Extricom's
Channel Blanket (TM) WLAN [http://www.extricom.com/category/benefits ] architecture has
been chosen and deployed by leading stadiums and arenas around the world, following
competitive selection processes. Extricom has built a global track-record of performance
excellence in public venues and sports arenas, which are particularly demanding
environments where other enterprise WLAN's have often failed to deliver the goods.
The intrinsic noise immunity of the Channel Blanket, and its ability to provide
reliable, high bandwidth connections to high-density user populations, has made it a
natural choice for LPV's. The Channel Blanket also offers tiered QoS, robust security, and
a very competitive TCO. In an era of intensive wireless usage powered by the market
explosion of smart phones, iPads, iPods, tablets and other communication devices, the
Channel Blanket meets the challenge by providing a robust, responsive Wi-Fi connection to
any client, in any environment.
Rony Homossany, Extricom's VP of International Sales, will be presenting at the
summit's Pecha kucha Innovations Showcase session. He will discuss the Extricom Channel
Blanket(TM) technology and its unique benefits for LPV deployments, as well as the
resulting payoff to Extricom's stadium customers.
"I am naturally delighted to have the opportunity to showcase the Extricom solution at
the Stadium Business Summit this year and I am looking forward to presenting our
breakthrough solution, and why it is the wireless LAN of choice by venues who need to
deliver top-quality performance all the time, guaranteed."
About Extricom
Extricom enables the all-wireless communication environment today. In an era of
intensive wireless usage powered by the market explosion of smart phones, iPads, iPods,
tablets and other communication devices, voice, data, video, and location services are
delivered with an always-on, robust and mobile Wi-Fi connection to any client, in any
environment. Powered by its award-winning Channel Blanket(TM) technology, the Extricom
Interference-Free(TM) WLAN is purpose-built to slash wireless complexity and future-proof
your network for tomorrow's multi-service demands.
While adhering to the 802.11 a/b/g/n standard, Extricom's patented, Interference-Free
architecture takes a completely new approach to the way the infrastructure is deployed. At
the heart of Extricom's innovation is the "channel blanket" topology, which allows each
Wi-Fi channel to be used everywhere, on every access point, to create blankets of
coverage.
The result is a completely different experience for the user: significantly greater
bandwidth and coverage than traditional WLANs, seamless mobility with no AP-to-AP
handoffs, the elimination of RF cell planning and co-channel interference, and the ability
to offer a performance guarantee for both connection rate and bandwidth. This is the best
of the wired and wireless worlds - the simplicity, flexibility, and performance of wired
networks, together with the mobility and ubiquity of WLANs.
Our customers include corporations, hospitals, schools, logistics centers, and sports
stadiums. Whether it is for increased capacity, support for mobile VoIP, or to more
effectively serve diverse groups of users, all of our customers have discovered the
radical leap in ease of ownership and uncompromising performance and reliability that are
the hallmark of the Extricom WLAN.
NextGen MultiMedia Launches the Blue City Neutral Interconnection Platform for Telecoms Carriers
HONG KONG, May 14, 2012 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- NextGen MultiMedia Limited (NextGen) -- a subsidiary of Hong Kong-listed Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings Limited -- today announced launch of the Blue City neutral interconnection platform at International Telecoms Week 2012 in Chicago. Blue City provides telecoms carriers with a globally-instituted neutral platform to manage their local and international colocation, demuxing and interconnection, as well as virtual meet-me room-related services in a cost-effective manner. The neutral platform also offers carriers their own choice of international connectivity.
Neutral global connections bundled with full colocation service
Blue City is a complete solution that covers data centre resources, cross-connects and flexible global infrastructure. By taking advantage of bundled Blue City facilities - including physical or virtual colocation, cross-connects and local loops -- carriers can simply patch into an ingress port at the nearest Blue City Point of Presence (PoP) to egress, breakout, demux and / or cross-connect at multiple distant ends across the globe. Carriers within Blue City's footprint enjoy full service flexibility and the unique ability to relocate connectivity between different points within the term of a contract, if required.
Top-tier meet-me room connectivity at lower cost
This all-round data centre solution, with neutral global connectivity, is a new alternative enabling carriers to connect internationally and manage their facilities at the distant end. Wedded to the concept of "remote engineering", a Blue City colocation facility contrasts starkly with current practice by "restructuring" a carrier's data centre space. Carriers can leave their high-density access equipment in popular meet-me rooms (MMRs) and transfer remaining equipment to the Blue City platform, safeguarded with a dual power supply. Blue City facilities are connected to top-tier MMRs, and carriers located at Blue City PoPs are able to connect with partners in those popular MMRs. This unique neutral platform also offers carriers flexible usage terms to enhance operational efficiency. Carriers not wanting the responsibility of owning physical equipment, while requiring full data centre facilities and global connectivity, can maintain a virtual presence via Blue City's VPoP service.
Flexible global data centre resources
Braham Singh, NextGen's Vice President and Senior Adviser, said: "Congested data centres and power limitations within data centre facilities are just some of the challenges faced by telecoms carriers. Shortage of data centre space and power represents an ever-upward colocation cost curve. MMRs and cross-connects continue to be in great demand, exacerbating the problem. In addition, international connectivity is increasingly fraught with problems, as more new cable systems add further complexity to today's carrier operations. It is against this background that Blue City service was launched. It makes a real and meaningful difference to the way voice and data carriers are served at the far end. This is achieved by offering a simple choice between a single Blue City ingress port versus multiple point-to-point circuits, and Blue City's remote engineering facilities versus remote hands."

McGraw-Hill Federal Credit Union Introduces Cutting-Edge Wireless Mobile Check Deposit
- Mobile My Deposit enables simple, fast, and convenient check deposits from almost anywhere -
EAST WINDSOR, N.J., May 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- With the introduction of Mobile My Deposit, McGraw-Hill Federal Credit Union (McGraw-Hill FCU) has taken another progressive step in providing innovative banking technology to better serve the ever-changing financial needs of its members. Mobile My Deposit, an enhancement to the credit union's mobile apps, allows members to quickly and securely deposit checks via their iPhone or Droid anytime, anywhere. Members simply snap a picture of a check using their smartphone and upload it to their savings or checking account.
The introduction of Mobile My Deposit further establishes McGraw-Hill FCU at the forefront of the emerging mobile revolution. The credit union is among the first to adopt this technology, ahead of larger financial institutions including Bank of America and Wells Fargo, which have yet to introduce this service to its customers. According to a recent study of consumer banking behavior and preferences conducted by global business advisory firm AlixPartners LLP, only 2% of adult Americans used mobile check deposit in 2011. However, with factors including aggressive smartphone adoption, consumer demand for remote deposit is expected to increase usage significantly in the coming years. In addition, the study found that four in ten consumers with an interest in mobile banking say that the ability to make deposits via their smartphones is the top factor in selecting or switching banks.
"We always ask members what they want from their credit union, and we consistently hear that it's the latest technology, safety, ease and accessibility, better rates and minimal fees," said Shawn Gilfedder, President and CEO, McGraw-Hill FCU. "The launch of Mobile My Deposit is another demonstration of our commitment to provide them with the safest, most convenient banking experience available."
Operating on a not-for-profit basis, McGraw-Hill FCU generally offers consumers higher interest rates on deposits, lower interest rates on loans, and fewer fees than for-profit financial institutions. Launches thousands of live events and new ways to get to know people online; eliminates distinction between online and offline dating
DALLAS, May 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Match.com, the largest dating site in the world, is transforming the American dating experience with new, innovative features for connecting people that eliminate the distinction between online and offline dating. Rolling out nationally over the coming weeks, Match.com will launch The Stir, a service that brings single people together in thousands of events across the country, and a proprietary collection of dual-player games designed to let people get to know each other online in a fun, natural way. The games will be available to all Match.com subscribers this summer, and the Stir will begin rolling out in more than 20 U.S. cities by June and nationwide by September.
"Our mission has always been to help single people have more success at meeting new people, in order to give them a better chance of starting a relationship," said Match.com President Mandy Ginsberg. "Now the advent of new technologies has allowed us to leverage our massive national membership scale to meaningfully expand the extent and nature of the positive impact we can have, and to make it more fun and natural along the way."
Coming to a Venue Near You...
The Stir, consisting of hundreds of local events each month, will range from large-scale happy hours to more intimate events, such as cooking classes, wine and tequila tastings, dance lessons, bowling nights, rock climbing and more.
A big part of meeting people is going out and being social, and the Stir improves that "going out" experience. When you go to a Stir event, everyone will be single, everyone will be looking to meet someone, and each event will be customized through our group matching algorithms in terms of age, gender and interests. In short, the Stir addresses some of the fundamental pitfalls of a typical night out for single people.
Members can learn about and sign up for these events via Match.com, and subscribers can even invite friends and bring them along as an added benefit. At each local event, attendees can leverage their mobile devices by checking in and receiving special offers from the venues on food and beverages. Over the coming months, Match.com plans to introduce other ways for online elements to enhance the event experience, such as the ability to invite other members to an event, create in-event engagement, and re-connect online afterward.
As part of an ongoing beta program, Match.com has organized 60 Stir events across 10 U.S. markets to date. The response has been tremendous, and the initiative will accelerate by September to include over 200 events each month, with thousands of people participating every week.
Why Write an Email When You Can Play a Game Instead?
The games are proprietary offerings that allow two members to get to know each other in a quick, natural way without the pressure and awkwardness that other interactions can sometimes entail. They initially consist of seven games lasting one to five minutes each, such as "Food Critic," "Gut Reaction," "Best & Worst," and "Name That Dance," each structured to create shared experiences and encourage interaction between players through instant messaging. Later this year, Match.com plans to integrate video into these games, further enhancing the experience by allowing members to play each other face-to-face.
"Our new games tackle one of online dating's traditional shortcomings," said Ginsberg. "Online dating has been an effective way to meet, but it's not always the best way to get to know someone. The games are fun and easy to play, and they allow our members to figure out whether they have chemistry with each other before going out on a date."
Expanding Our Impact
"The term 'online dating' has never been quite accurate, since you don't actually date anyone online," said Ginsberg. "If you're single, you just want to meet great people and then go out with them on dates, and Match.com has enabled millions of people to do that more successfully. With the introduction of these new offerings, we're able to meaningfully expand the impact we can have on people's lives. Now, whether you're staying home or going out on the town, we're empowering you to make more connections with new people, better evaluate whether you have chemistry with someone, and have more fun while doing it."
Founded in 1995, Match.com was the original dating website and pioneer of the online dating industry. Throughout its 17-year history, Match.com has been responsible for more dates, relationships and marriages than any other website. Today, Match.com operates leading subscription-based online dating sites in 25 countries, 8 languages and across five continents. Match.com is an operating business of IAC (Nasdaq: IACI) and is headquartered in Dallas, Texas. For more information, visit http://www.match.com

- Leveraging best-of-breed approach, the joint offering provides an ultimate solution for operators to optimize and monetize content delivery
PETACH TIKVA, Israel and GRONINGEN, Netherlands, May 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Oversi, the leader in OTT Video and P2P caching solutions, and Jet-Stream, the award-winning market leader in Content Delivery Network (CDN) technologies, today announced a strategic collaboration to provide a converged content delivery solution for network operators.
Dan Rayburn, EVP, StreamingMedia.com said: "Carriers are desperately trying to control managed and unmanaged content on their network. A converged CDN and Transparent Caching solution allows the carrier to enable a better QoS, reduce their internal costs, and in the long run provide revenue generation and new content services."
This new partnership brings together Jet-Stream's best-in-class CDN technology and Oversi's solution-of-choice Transparent Caching. Indicating a milestone in the content delivery market, this partnership provides operators a flexible solution that is easy to deploy in many different network scenarios, and a future proof architecture with the highest performance, scalability and reliability.

To help our customers extend their market leading Transparent Caching (TC) platforms to full featured CDNs, our choice for Jet-Stream is obvious: more than any other CDN they focus on premium video delivery. The Jet-Stream CDN technology goes beyond best effort Internet Grade CDNs by using broadcast grade, managed technologies, enabling end to end SLAs in the entire value chain from OTT provider down to the access provider. The combination of the best TC platform and the best CDN platform means that telecom operators get maximum efficiency and directly benefit from both massive cost reductions and new revenues."
Stef van der Ziel, CEO of Jet-Stream, said: "We are excited to partner with Oversi, the leader in Transparent Caching (TC). Our recent customer engagements have pointed us to search for a TC partner that would broaden our offering. We looked for the highest performance, most cost-effective, and easiest to deploy system. The choice was obvious: with its proven track record at large operator networks and the first and only widely deployed Out-of-band caching architecture, Oversi was a perfect fit. OverCache hierarchical grid topology and its unique API ensure a swift TC and CDN integration. Together we offer a converged content delivery solution for all of the operator's requirements, and a winning business model - our operator customers can now achieve instant performance enhancement and network optimization on all types of content, while they market their CDN offering to content providers."
