The HX-WA2 Offers Users More Opportunities to Capture Stunning Video and Photos in a Variety of Conditions
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Panasonic today introduced the new HX-WA2 camcorder, which provides users with enhanced features and durable product design for more opportunities to shoot high-quality video and still images in a variety of outdoor conditions. Ideal for capturing underwater activities and scenes, the Panasonic HX-WA2 camcorder features a waterproof(1) design which allows for submersion in water at a depth of up to 9 feet, 8 inches (three meters).

Using the included HD Writer VE2.0 software, consumers can easily edit videos captured on the Panasonic HX-WA2. The software features a "Smart Wizard" that automatically starts when the camcorder is connected to the USB port of a PC, prompting users to follow a simple, on-screen guide to easily copy video clips to a PC or burn to a DVD. The software also allows videos to be easily uploaded onto YouTube(TM) and Facebook(TM) so even the most inexperienced users can post onto the web. Advanced editing functions allow users to set their favorite songs(3) as background music, insert various effects and transitions, and even use photo retouch. With the newly added Short Movie Story function, a user can easily transform recorded still images into a dramatic short movie. Advanced features, including Intelligent Auto (iA) and Pre-Rec, allow users to point, shoot and easily capture HD videos with the press of a button.

The compact HC-V10 camcorder features high definition recording and a powerful 63x optical zoom lens with an Enhanced Optical 70x Zoom function, allowing users to capture beautiful images of subjects up close or pull in distant subjects for truly dynamic close-ups. HD video can be recorded in MP4 format, which offers broad compatibility and high compression for small, easy-to-share files. Additionally, videos can also be recorded in iFrame(TM) format, which is designed to make video editing quicker. With iFrame, the video a user captures with their camera is in the same format used for editing, so it's fast to import and edit with compatible video editing applications.
The camcorder's iA(*1) mode consists of four functions that automatically select the most suitable shooting mode with the press of a button. Power O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) suppresses handshake without degrading image quality, resulting in clear, blur-free images even with dynamic zooming. The O.I.S. also features an Active mode to assure clear, beautiful images across the entire range from wide-angle to telephoto. Intelligent Contrast Control prevents blown highlights and blocked shadows, allowing video to retain natural toned images with proper contrast. Intelligent Scene Selector automatically selects the best Scene Mode to record in based on detected light and objects. Finally, Face Detection senses ambient lighting to adjust exposure and capture faces beautifully even in dim or backlit scenes.
Ideal for capturing sudden shooting opportunities, the Pre-Rec function allows users to capture three seconds of video prior to pressing the Record button. When the camcorder is aimed at a subject in advance, it will continuously record three seconds of video to an internal buffer memory; when the record button is pressed, the three seconds immediately prior are added to the beginning of the clip being recorded. This function makes sure users are never late for a video opportunity again.
The HC-V10's 31.6 mm wide-angle(*2) is especially convenient for recording indoors or in tight spaces, making it possible to shoot at a close distance from the subject while fitting both the subject and surrounding area into the frame. Panasonic's 3MOS System Pro is a next-generation imaging system that powers the HC-X900M to produce bright, outstanding video even under dim lighting, while also minimizing noise. Plus, with professional-like features such as a manual ring, a 5.1-channel surround sound, an advanced Optical Image Stabilization (O.I.S) system called Hybrid O.I.S. +, the HC-X900M is a feature-rich camcorder with endless capabilities.
For those looking to start exploring the third dimension in video, the HC-X900M can also shoot full-HD 3D (in the AVCHD 3D format) with the new optional conversion 3D lens, the VW-CLT2, which is smaller than last year's model (VW-CLT1) and has an increased brightness from F3.2 to F2.0. In addition, the new VW-CLT2 has 1.5x digital zooming.

Thanks to the advanced 3MOS sensor's unique pixel shift technology that runs at high speed and with superb accuracy, the HC-X900M further reduces noise by 40% when compared to last year's HDC-HS900/TM900. The HC-X900M's new Crystal Engine Pro II can achieve high-speed processing that is approximately equivalent to four times the pixel count of full-HD pixels, thus producing superb full-HD image quality, even in the most detailed images.
The HC-X900M features a bright F1.5, 12x optical zoom and 29.8mm wide-angle LEICA DICOMAR lens, meaning it allows for a wider-framed shot, which is convenient when shooting wide landscapes and large groups of people. The lens also features a new Nano Surface Coating Technology, which dramatically reduces ghosting and flaring. With an Octagon Iris Diaphragm, the user can apply a defocusing effect, so it is possible to shoot at a close distance from the subject while fitting both the subject and the surrounding area into the frame. This is beneficial so the voice of the subject is clearly recorded, but a full and wide frame is captured.
The HC-X900M features an improved O.I.S. system called, HYBRID O.I.S. +, which uses five-axis correction to help thoroughly suppress blurring all the way from wide-angle shots to powerful zoom shots - allowing for steady images over the entire zoom range. It even achieves superb effects when shooting while walking or otherwise moving, thanks to a function known as Active Mode. This lets the user capture crisp, clear images, without blurring, in nearly every shooting situation. In addition to the HYBRID O.I.S. + system, the HC-X900M provides even more powerful stabilization correction with O.I.S. Lock. By pressing the O.I.S. Lock button on the LCD monitor, the blur detection sensitivity is maximized and camera movements are detected and corrected without image degradation. O.I.S. The Panasonic HC-HX900M features a manual ring for easy and convenient fingertip-control of commonly-used settings, like focus, zoom, exposure, shutter speed and white balance. Using the ring is now much more intuitive, comfortable, and user-friendly for settings that are often adjusted as opposed to accessing through the menu screen every time one of those features need to be changed. Plus, with manual operation, the HC-HX900M gives the user freedom to craft creative and expressive videos with ease. When the HC-X900M has the optional VW-CLT2 3D Conversion Lens attached, it can record full HD 3D images with the MVC (Multiview Video Coding) recording system of the AVCHD 3D format. During 3D recording, the right-eye and left-eye images are both recorded and played in Full-HD quality, using the Frame Sequential Method to produce FULL HD 3D images, which results in a lifelike ambience. Jenn-Air Launches "Designer Dialog" Resource on Facebook
BENTON HARBOR, Mich., Jan. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Luxury appliance maker Jenn-Air is offering those planning or considering a kitchen remodel a fresh way to get professional advice and answers to their kitchen design questions. Designer Dialog, a newly-launched discussion tab on the Jenn-Air Facebook Brand Page, allows visitors to tap the expertise of a rotating lineup of acclaimed kitchen designers recruited from throughout the country.

Syndiant Introduces First HD .37" Microdisplay Solution
Displays High Definition 720p Video - for Pico Projection Market
DALLAS, Jan. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Syndiant, a leader in high resolution microdisplays for pico projectors, is expanding its product line with the introduction of a new breakthrough chip set solution that includes the SYL2271 HD display panel and the SYA1231 controller.

AT&T* today, within the Peachtree "Connected" City, GA collaboration framework with Panasonic Automotive Systems Company of America along with QNX Software Systems Limited, announced plans to begin developing a connected, voice-enabled virtual assistant for use by automotive manufacturers. The technology will be backed by AT&T's patented WATSON(SM) speech engine, providing a complete cloud based voice-enabled natural language mobile virtual assistant solution for wirelessly connected vehicles.
AT&T WATSON(SM) is a multimodal and multilingual speech and language engine with best-in-class performance across a wide range of applications. The engine's flexible plug-in architecture enables quick-time-to-market innovations. AT&T has more than 500 speech-related patents that can process speech, text and gesture inputs for things such as placing and receiving calls, navigation and basic web browsing.

A prototype is being developed that will demonstrate a connectivity strategy for automotive virtual assistance. Global Survey Finds Consumers Ready to Write on Mobile Devices
Over 70 percent of consumers say they want to replicate the pen/paper experience on a mobile device
SEOUL, South Korea, Jan. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- In a recent survey, consumers around the world responded to the question of whether they would like to carry one device that included a real writing experience with a resounding yes. They are ready to take advantage of Samsung's recent innovative product - GALAXY Note's advanced S Pen technology to create and share content.
The survey, which included the responses of 5,000 smartphone users across 10 nations, found strong demand from global consumers for a smartphone that allows them to write and draw with a pen-style device with the same level of ease as writing on paper. It also asked consumers about opinions on use-case scenarios where this type of device would be preferred.
Survey data was analyzed both globally and regionally, showing interesting variations in use-case preferences, including:
-- Both men and women in all regions agreed/strongly agreed that carrying
multiple devices to meet their mobile needs while on the go is a burden.
-- Both genders responded that a device with handwriting-type functionality
would help to lighten their load. If given the opportunity to replicate
the experience of using pen and paper on a mobile device, 64.6? would
stop carrying a pen and paper.
-- Globally, 75.7? of respondents stated they would like the ability to
hand-write sharable notes directly on images, maps, documents or
websites using a smartphone; this figure was especially high in Asia
(84.3?), leading to the assumption that the need for hand-writing may be
higher for Asian-language speaking consumers due to the unique
characters.
Respondents were also asked what uses they envisage for a digital device with pen-style capabilities, and responses showed that the ability to write, draw and share notes directly on a smartphone would increase work and life productivity as well as encourage creativity. Increasing organization and creating shopping/to-do lists were frequently desired smartphone tasks. Quotes from consumers regarding other functions they would like to perform using such a device include:
-- "The paper/pen capabilities should do away with the clumsiness of the
touch and qwerty keypad while also making it more fun and personal to
share content."
-- "Sketch a concept or engineering idea and transmit it from a handheld
device."
-- "It would be so much easier when I am in meetings to just use my
smartphone to take notes and then be able to print them out later for
disbursement to employees."
-- "Jotting down notes and reminders would be a great help. Easier than
using the keyboard, which I tend to get wrong most of the time."
-- "I would send personal drawings to my kids when I was away on business."

'Car Connection' is a new plug in On-Board Diagnostic (OBDII) device that will allow consumers to monitor, manage and maintain not only their own and other family drivers habits, but also vehicle performance and maintenance. It is a DIY solution that simply plugs into the vehicle's OBDII port, a standard feature on all vehicles since 1996.
'Care Connection' is a wearable personal tracking system that features two way voice communication that will help the 'sandwich generation' secure, protect and locate the people that they value most- their young children, teen drivers and aging parents. Both systems will utilize Sprint's wireless network for connectivity.

Agnik has significant expertise in the analytics and mining of all of the data coming out of the vehicle and converting it into useful information for a consumer.
Omnilink will host the consumer website, which will be branded Audiovox Care and Car Connection and will be responsible for the management of the back-end services and consumer billing for both Car & Care Connection. They will provide all of the location-based services functionality, including tracking, and geofencing, as well as alerting and a web-based user interface.
The new products will be shown at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January and Audiovox anticipates retail distribution in Q1 2012.

Award winning headrest line delivers full function Android technology to the rear seat of the vehicle
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- International CES, Center Hall, Booth 10404-10415 - Audiovox Electronics Corporation (AEC), a wholly owned subsidiary of VOXX International Corporation (NASDAQ: VOXX), and the recognized market leader in overhead and replacement headrests, announced today that they will produce a custom headrest system that brings full function Android technology through local hotspot Wi-Fi connection to their custom headrest, rear seat entertainment (RSE) product line.

This new RSE system will start shipping in Q3, 2012 under the Audiovox and Advent brands, and will include the following enhancements and step-up features that take the in-vehicle connectivity to a new level. Upgradeable Android operating system with a Dual-core processor and Wi-Fi capabilities (external hotspot necessary) and multiple usage configurations that provide the rear seat passengers with the ability to have Android access on both monitors with or without DVD. This system also comes with Hi-Def Digital LCD monitors with crisp LED backlighting, USB, SD and HDMI connection ports. The system is Bluetooth enabled, comes with a wireless remote control, and is available in over 1,000 OE style vehicle applications. All headrest systems comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
