Simply pair the device to you Bluetooth® enabled product or attach the signal transmitter to your valuable and turn it on. The receiver will alert you via alarm or buzz if you leave a predetermined area without your valuable electronics. There are three models; a Bluetooth separation alarm with vibrate and audible alert; a Bluetooth separation alarm with vibrating alert only, and a 433MHz RF separation alarm system with audible alert only.

The LRF103 RF Proximeter operates on 433MHz radio spectrum. The LRF103 uses two button cell batteries which are included and comes with two lanyards and surface stick tape. The LRF103 will be available in spring of 2012, with a suggested retail price of $29.99.

AT&T Announces Wireless Data Plans for PlayStation® Vita
AT&T's Mobile Broadband Network to Power Sony Computer Entertainment's Next Generation Portable Entertainment System

DALLAS, Jan. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T*, the exclusive U.S. wireless carrier for Sony Computer Entertainment's PlayStation® Vita, today announced data plan pricing for the 3G-enabled model of the next generation portable entertainment system. AT&T plans to offer two data plans, a $14.99 plan featuring 250MB and a $25 plan with 2GB. Both plans will be month-to-month and will not require a long-term contract. The high speeds and broad coverage of AT&T's mobile broadband network mean that PS Vita owners will remain connected to their content and with the world around them, including their friends and other PS Vita owners. PlayStation Vita customers with an AT&T data plan will also have free access at more than 29,000 AT&T Wi-Fi hotspots nationwide.

Pushing Limits, Eliminating Barriers

LG applied similar design rigor to other 2012 series (LM9600, LM8500, LM7600 and LM6700) by developing CINEMA Screen technology, which limits the bezel to roughly 5mm. Smarter LG Smart TV*
LG reaffirmed its commitment to the connected TV movement by offering an upgraded Smart TV package in 60 percent of its 2012 LCD TV line. In addition to premium content from providers like Netflix, Hulu Plus, VUDU and others, new content options this year include a one-stop-shop for 3D content (via the 3D Zone) and almost 1,200 total applications in the LG App store. LG also enhanced the user Web browsing experience by incorporating HTML 5 and Flash so it can now function as a full internet browser with video support.
Select series (LM9600 and LM8600) will feature the LG Dual Core chipset, which powers faster loading speeds and enables voice recognition technology on the new 4-mode Magic Remote**. The new Magic Remote simplifies navigation with additional functions including Voice Recognition, Wheel, Magic Gesture and Pointing (see separate release). Consumers can also access online content easily through a built-in Wi-Fi connection. LG CINEMA 3D employs the revolutionary Film Patterned Retarder (FPR) technology to give viewers a great 3D effect and uses glasses that don't flicker like active shutter glasses. It also virtually eliminates cross-talk to help provide a more comfortable 3D viewing experience. The 3D glasses are battery-free, affordable and don't shutter open and closed so both eyes receive an image simultaneously. LG Electronics Breaks New Ground With Full 3D Sound, Home Entertainment Experiences
New Audio-Video Products Include Enhanced Sound Systems, Blu-ray Capabilities
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- LG Electronics (LG) today introduced its 2012 line-up of Home Theater Systems and Network Blu-ray Disc Players at the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show (Booth #8204), bringing the home entertainment experience to new heights with improved 3D sound and picture quality.
Leading the line-up unveiled this week is LG's BH9420PW, a "3D Sound" home theater system, incorporating LG's 3D sound technology with a state-of-the-art Blu-ray system. The BH9420PW enhances the 3D experience by adding a dimension of height to the audio field and uses 3D Sound Zooming to synchronize the audio with 3D picture depth when playing back 3D video from Blu-ray discs and broadcast sources.

The BH9420PW incorporates both 3D Sound and 3D Sound Zooming capability, offering a "live in your living room" experience for consumers. This 3D surround sound home theater provides consumers with high-quality 360-degree 3D sound through a unique 9.1 speaker system that creates an expanded sound field around the listener through the additional vertical-firing speaker units. This flagship Home Theater System also includes a 3D Blu-ray disc player with LG's innovative Smart TV* application suite for access to a variety of content and services, including movies, music and over 1,200 applications such as Netflix, Hulu Plus, VUDU, CinemaNow, Amazon VOD, YouTube, Pandora, MOG and more. Delivering 3D Sound Into the Home
Leading LG's 2012 line-up of sound bars is LG's NB3520A, an easy-to-use, 300W, 2.1 channel speaker bar and subwoofer duo that incorporates Bluetooth connectivity, delivering big-screen sound.
Bluetooth connectivity enables consumers to playback streamed content from mobile devices, such as smart phones, tablets and laptops. For more content playback options, it can play MP3 and WMA files from USB flash memory drives.

SD Association Adds Standardized Wireless Communication to World-Leading SD Memory Card Standards
New Wireless LAN feature extends SD memory card convenience so consumers can transfer pictures and videos wirelessly from their cameras

The Wireless LAN SD standard announced today is the SD Association's first wireless SD memory card standard combining storage and wireless capabilities. Consumers will be able to transfer pictures, videos and other content wirelessly from most existing digital cameras and digital video cameras to web-based cloud services and between SD devices over home networks.
The Wireless LAN SD standard combines the world-leading memory card storage standard with the ubiquitous wireless standard IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n, part of the Association's strategy to expand SD services and features by incorporating other global standards. This standard is applicable to full size SD/SDHC/SDXC and microSD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards. Continental Ensures Better Road Safety with New Control Elements

Gaining ground: Touch-sensitive surfaces in cars
Touchscreen smartphones are enjoying increasing popularity as more and more people rely on their simple and intuitive operability. Motorists are also calling for more touch-sensitive surfaces in cars. Products such as secondary displays, large-scale displays in the central console and touchpads are ideal for facilitating driver interaction via adapted and context-related presentation of information. As early as 2014, Continental expects one in six new cars registered in Western Europe, the USA and Japan to be fitted with touchscreens.
More attention to traffic thanks to haptic feedback
"However, it is not possible to simply transfer the concept of touch-sensitive surface operations from the field of consumer electronics into a car exactly as it is," explains Guido Meier-Arendt, an HMI expert at Continental. "Up to now, feedback was received directly through classic control elements such as rotary switches or switches and buttons, the eyes, ears and above all the operating hand whereas touch-sensitive displays in cars were disregarded as an important feedback means." To make the operation of touch elements even safer and more effective for motorists - whose primary task is, after all, to keep their eyes on the road - Continental is focusing on tactile (i.e. haptic) feedback from touch-sensitive surfaces. For example, slight counter-pressure from the display on the driver's finger indicates that an operating step has been performed successfully, making it unnecessary for the driver to look at the screen again.
For the haptic feedback, Continental calculates the exact position of the finger in the touch process. Touch sensors on a purely electrical (capacitive), electromechanical (resistive) or optical (via an infra-red sensor) basis perform this task. They reliably locate the position of the finger to less than a millimeter deviation. Depending on the position identified, a decision is made on how haptic feedback is to be provided. Whether a touch element is actually activated also depends on the operating force, which is calculated via further sensors or through signal processing steps on the basis of existing data. The actuators needed to carry out mechanical movements can generate various types of haptics information within a frequency range of up to 200 hertz and more.
Feedback can be provided in forms ranging from slight counter-pressure to vibration, depending on the respective control concept. This allows different feedback strategies to be implemented which are tailored to the manufacturers' requirements. Series of tests have shown that haptic feedback is accepted much better by motorists than visual or acoustic signals. Continental has also made use of this principle in its Accelerator Force Feedback Pedal (AFFP). Thanks to haptics, the world's first active gas pedal in serial production offers a new possibility to provide imminent danger warnings to motorists directly through the feet, for example.

For this purpose, one of the market leaders in electronic vehicle access systems is developing a virtual car key integrated in a mobile phone that wirelessly swaps data with the chosen vehicle. This key within a cell phone also makes it possible to personalize vehicles and exchange information to an extent never before seen, and paves the way for new, intelligent mobility concepts. The technology for the key experience
The virtual cell phone car key hinges on a forge-proof data packet stored in encrypted format on the cell phone's SIM card. The actual access authorization is checked and exchanged between cell phone and vehicle via a wireless interface (Near Field Communication - NFC). The data is transmitted over a very short distance from a transmitter in the phone to a NFC reader in the vehicle. A receiver in the dashboard then verifies the digital key in the cell phone when the car is started.
Key technology for many new functions expands Simplify your Drive
With its Simplify your Drive concept, Continental has already demonstrated that networking different vehicle domains with an optimized human machine interface creates a whole new driving experience. Thanks to the networking of the various systems, a wide variety of functions can now be adapted to the driver's preferences automatically with the cell phone key. The individual settings for the infotainment system, such as favorite radio stations, popular navigation destinations or preferred internet applications from AutoLinQ are connected with the key. With the help of an app, the location of a parked car will be saved automatically, creating a car finder tool out of the cell phone - particularly useful in large parking lots and when sharing one car. When NFC technology is used, the cell phone can also be charged wirelessly during travel. Continental is offering vehicle manufacturers a package of hardware, software and infrastructure services. Continental is working with telecom companies to deliver services like Deutsche Telekom's "mobile wallet" for storing and organizing the electronic car key in the cell phone. This enables customers also to organize their bank account or credit card data and to pay car sharing or car rental services.
Key stimulus for establishing new mobility services
Together with its partners, Continental is using its new key technology to help out with the growing number of innovative mobility concepts that rental cars and car-sharing rely on. With all these projects, handing over the vehicle key has constituted one of the most sensitive and often complicated points. After all, even though people can locate and reserve a car on the internet at any time, day or night, they still have to somehow get the key from the person who last used the car. Nowadays, at least some special safety boxes or mailboxes are required, but with the technology from Continental and the mobile wallet of Deutsche Telekom, internet access does the trick. After the customer has selected a vehicle on the website and received a confirmation notice the temporary digital key from Continental and the drivers profile is loaded onto the cell phone's SIM card via a secure data link. At the same time, the cell phone receives the license plate number and the location of the car. At the Continental hospitality salon during CES, Continental will demonstrate just how easy such a car sharing system could be to operate in the future using NFC technology.

Continental Prepares for Series Production of GENIVI Multimedia Head Unit
In 2014, Continental will launch series production of an Internet-capable multimedia head unit that conforms to the GENIVI standard.
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Consumer Electronics Show --In October 2014, the international automotive supplier Continental will begin series production of an Internet-capable multimedia head unit for the entire product range of a European automotive manufacturer. By 2018, Continental expects to reach a high volume of series production.
The multimedia head unit is based on the Linux open source operating system and complies with the GENIVI standard. "We are a core member of the GENIVI Alliance and are therefore particularly proud to be launching series production of this GENIVI product with the multimedia head unit. In this way, we are driving forward standardization in automotive infotainment," comments Kieran O'Sullivan, Head of the Business Unit Infotainment and Connectivity at Continental.
Various versions of the head unit will be produced, with basic versions for compact vehicles and further functions added for mid-range and luxury vehicles. This means that the entire product portfolio, and all brands, of the automotive manufacturer will be covered. In addition to radio, audio management, 3D navigation and connectivity, the basic functions of the multimedia head unit will also include an Internet browser and access to Internet services such as weather forecasts and traffic information. As with a smart phone, drivers can download new services and updates from a specific package, enjoying the very latest infotainment features throughout the entire lifecycle of their vehicles. A software development kit will enable third-party providers to develop applications for the head unit and, following in-depth quality and safety checks, add them to the products on offer.
"By intentionally opening the system up to third-party providers, we can tap into a wealth of ideas and resources - and the more applications are developed for the head unit, the more attractive the technology will become for motorists. By doing this, we are also closing the gap between the rapid development cycles of consumer electronics and vehicle infotainment," explains O`Sullivan.
Drivers can operate the multimedia head unit via touch-sensitive interfaces, handwriting recognition and voice control. Continental has already introduced these elements successfully in its AutoLinQ concept. According to the AutoLinQ philosophy of making it possible to operate infotainment functions with as few clicks as possible, combining different elements in the man-machine interface of the head unit creates a balance between more infotainment and safe, simple and intuitive operations. In the basic variants, a touch screen acts as the central input and output device, while the luxury and mid-range versions also have an output-only screen fitted above this. Using interfaces to the vehicle data busses, the head unit also controls in-car functions such as the air conditioning and sliding roof. Drivers and passengers can also connect external devices to the head unit via Bluetooth, USB or WLAN to make use of the car's Internet connection or simply to play music stored on their devices via the car's audio system.
