Litex Industries, Limited Announces Successful Closing of Its All Cash Offer for Craftmade International, Inc.
GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas, Nov. 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Litex Industries, Limited, today announced that it has successfully completed its previously announced cash tender offer, through its subsidiary Litex Acquisition #1, LLC ("Litex"), for all of the outstanding shares of Craftmade International, Inc. ("Craftmade"; OTCQX: CRFT).
Litex's tender offer for US $4.25 per share was made on October 14, 2011 and expired at 5:00 P.M., New York City time, on November 29, 2011. Upon such expiration, Litex instructed BNY Mellon Shareowner Services, the depositary for the tender offer, to release payment for such tendered shares to each of the applicable stockholders. As a result of such tender offer and its subsequent closing, 4,573,834 shares (approximately 79%) of Craftmade common stock were tendered and then transferred to Litex. Together with the 826,393 shares (approximately 14%) of Craftmade common stock that Litex already owned, Litex now holds 5,400,227 shares (approximately 93%) of Craftmade common stock.
Litex, in accordance with Section 253 of the Delaware General Corporation Law, now intends, as soon as practicable, to conduct a short form merger between Craftmade and itself (the "Proposed Merger"). As part of the Proposed Merger, any outstanding shares of Craftmade common stock that were not tendered and transferred to Litex as part of the tender offer will be converted into the right to receive $4.25 per share, provided the holders of such shares do not first properly exercise their appraisal rights under Section 262 of the Delaware General Corporation Law. Focus on Short Term Cost Cutting Sets Process Improvement up for Failure, Finds Global Survey

Process improvement programs are most likely to fail if the key focus is on cutting
costs, according to a global PEX Network benchmarking survey.
The October 2011 PEX Network survey, in which over 650 process improvement
practitioners participated, found that a customer-focused approach to identifying and
improving operational processes is what sets a company up for long term success.
Over 40% of process improvement programs that practitioners considered "unsuccessful"
or "highly unsuccessful" were driven by cost cutting; only 20% of "highly successful"
programs focused on this metric. Meanwhile, 32.5% of "highly successful" companies focused
on the customer with just over 10% of unsuccessful programs considered customer-centric.
"A focus on cost savings, while clearly important to businesses during a time of
economic uncertainty, can translate into a demoralized workforce and ultimately lead to
what is perceived as the failure of an operational excellence initiative," said Diana

these initiatives become associated with job losses, budget cuts, and increased workloads

Fusion-io Demo Runs the Equivalent of All Global Credit Card Transactions from a Single Server
Microsoft® SQL Server® Database Technology Enables High Scale Demonstration of 1.1 Million Transactions Per Second
SALT LAKE CITY, Nov. 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Fusion-io (NYSE: FIO) today announced that its VSL software subsystem and four 1.2 TB Fusion ioDrive2s integrated into a single 64-core AMD Server were able to achieve 1.11 million transactions per second in a Microsoft SQL Server database. The demonstration delivered the data throughput projected to be required to run all credit card transactions on the planet, underlining new solutions for powering efficiency in retail data processing as the 2011 holiday shopping season kicks off with record sales.
"Today's modern CPUs cannot be fed data fast enough with old approaches to application architecture," said Thomas Kejser, SQL Server Customer Advisory Team enterprise database specialist. "To fully leverage the possibilities of the NAND flash revolution in a way that utilizes the hardware, IT professionals need to understand the properties of what we use to build our systems. For example, low latency architecture that uses NAND flash as part of the memory hierarchy helps avoid bottlenecks by integrating close to the CPU for low latency application performance, which is why Fusion-io was selected for this high scale demonstration."
In the demonstration, inserts were done on 150 billion wide rows, into a single database table in Microsoft® SQL Server®, ultimately resulting in 1.1 million singleton inserts per second figure. The same test was run with update statements, achieving 2.5 million updates per second. Translating this throughput number to simplified credit card transactions, using the system in the testing, one transaction is one debit, one credit, and one update of account balance. When applied to daily transaction requirements, this amounts to approximately 25 billion simplified transactions per day. To put the transaction number into perspective, this is equivalent to all the credit card transactions projected to be made daily by every individual on the planet from now until 2050, when it is expected that the world will be inhabited by nine billion people.
