Individually created, community driven deals have arrived
Announces launch of nationwide public beta
NEW YORK, June 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Putting the future of the daily deal industry into the hands of the consumer, Ringleadr adds a unique twist to the local deal game by letting its users, or "Ringleadrs," create the deals they want for businesses they care about. Unlike any other deal sites, "Ringleadrs" can create deals for anything they want ensuring their deals couldn't be more relevant to them.
Ringleadr was hatched when three internet entrepreneurs from New York were finally fed up with the lack of relevancy in the daily deals that they were receiving. From 60% off Laser Hair Removal to 50% off Family Portraits, every deal that landed in their inbox seemed to build on their lust for something more; local deals that they actually wanted.
CEO and Founder Mike Davis adds, "It's how daily deal sites should have always been - a place where like-minded consumers could band together to influence local businesses. I feel like this is the natural evolution of the daily deal industry where local deals intersect with social networking. Ringleadr makes users the true influencers, not the websites that publish pre-determined deals."
Ringleadr.com, being first to market, has launched as a simple, easy to use interface for creating and sharing local deals. Once a deal is created, shared and pre-ordered, businesses then have a choice to either approve, deny or modify the deal. Soon Ringleadr will be adding new features like leader boards, mobile apps and business tools that will let local businesses continue to market to users after deals are approved and redeemed. Ringleadr is available nationwide in all major cities and small towns. Credit cards are only required once deals are approved.

EitaroSoft and The9, China's Online Game Market Leader, Jointly Releasing "Last Precious" in China
TOKYO, June 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- EitaroSoft, Inc. announced on June 23 that the company and The9 Limited have concluded a license agreement to jointly deploy in the Chinese market a popular dating simulation game for female players, "Last Precious," which is currently released from the "docomo market" for i-mode (R) (1) applications, operated by Japan's largest mobile carrier NTT docomo.
In China there is already an enormous online game market consisting of more than 2 million game players. And its growth is promised. The game genre "dating simulation game" has been undeveloped yet in China. Through this "Last Precious" which is a high-quality dating simulation game, EitaroSoft is willing to play a part in familiarizing the Chinese game market with great support by The9.
Hereafter, EitaroSoft will focus on globalizing not only "Last Precious" but also with all the original titles of the company, such as releasing them in the U.S. market.
-- About "Last Precious" (2)
In "Last Precious," 4 famous and popular voice actors perform the role of a prince and other characters. It is very rare that a novel type of game adopts voice actors. "Last Precious," on the other hand, has succeeded in enriching the entire game's quality by adopting it, as it can lead game players to feel more emotional part of the fantasy-based epic story. In general, this kind of game with voice effect installed always has a dilemma in audio delay due to the heaviness of voice data networking. But this dilemma has been overcome by developing a new system "advance read" which obtains the voice data in advance when the game is offline. This resulted in smooth page turning.
EitaroSoft, which has released many high-end 3D network game applications by now, will expand and concentrate its target on overseas game markets with its own high-quality titles in the genre of dating simulation games for female players as well.
< INFO >
(1) "i-mode" is a registered trademark of NTT docomo.
(2) "Last Precious" has been keeping a high position in any ranking on the board of "docomo market" for i-mode (R) applications.

New 'Cloud' Solution Helps Doctors, Hospitals Store Millions of X-rays, MRIs and Other Digital Images and Quickly Access Them From Virtually Anywhere
Baptist Health System, Henry Ford Health System to Pilot New AT&T Cloud-Based Medical Imaging Service That Can Enable Them to Manage a Multitude of Images in a Highly Secure Manner, Slash Costs and Give Better Care
DALLAS, June 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Every second makes a difference. If your child is a little daredevil and you are constantly making trips to the Emergency Room, imagine if the on-call specialist could easily view medical images "in the cloud" taken within seconds of an accident to help make an accurate diagnosis - whether the doctor is at home or on-the-go. This is now possible thanks to AT&T's* network-based cloud services.
AT&T announced today that Baptist Health System and Henry Ford Health System have signed agreements to pilot a new cloud-based AT&T Medical Imaging and Information Management service that will quickly connect doctors to patients' medical images, regardless of which device originally took the image, allowing them to offer faster treatment. The service will help lower costs in an industry where today it can take multiple and unconnected systems and devices to transmit a single image.
"With the AT&T solution - which uses the power of our network combined with digital imaging technology -- doctors and other healthcare providers can transform the way they treat patients," said Randall Porter, assistant vice president, AT&T ForHealth.
Two Major Healthcare Systems Pilot Cloud-Based Solution
-- Baptist Health System, one of the largest healthcare systems in Alabama
and one of the state's largest employers, has first-hand experience with
increasing storage and management requirements, given its scale, vendor
complexity and forecasted growth. Baptist Health System has accumulated
more than 2 million images and creates about 30,000 new images per
month, or 350,000 annually, that it would like to share throughout its
physician community.
"We believe AT&T Medical Imaging and Information Management can help us provide improved management and access to our ongoing medical imaging studies and long-term medical imaging, as we expand access to patient medical images to our physician community," said Richard Shirey, chief information officer of Baptist Health System.
-- Henry Ford Health System, one of the nation's leading comprehensive,
integrated health systems based in Michigan, plans to use AT&T Medical
Imaging and Information Management to store new cardiology medical
imaging studies and to move other cardiology studies from its existing
solution to the AT&T solution. Henry Ford Health System expects to gain
efficiencies from consolidated expandable storage, providing cloud-based
access to cardiologists in various heart centers.
"The model that AT&T offers will help us manage images while containing costs for our $4 billion integrated health system," said Kevin Yee, administrator for the Edith and Benson Ford Heart & Vascular Institute, Henry Ford Hospital.
The solution helps providers to store, access, view and share patient medical images and information inside hospital systems and outside with referring physicians and other authorized facilities over a highly secure infrastructure. AT&T's cloud solution offers pay-as-you-go pricing that helps reduce costs by allowing healthcare providers to pay per gigabyte, per month. This pricing model can help providers to store medical images easily and avoid costly capital investment in storage infrastructure.
AT&T Medical Imaging and Information Management is a vendor-neutral, cloud-based service that combines AT&T Synaptic Storage as a Service(SM) with Acuo Technologies® Universal Clinical Platform(TM). The service provides access, viewing, storage and sharing of medical images from disparate picture archive communications systems (PACS) sold on an as needed, pay-as-you-go model.

DeLorme Unveils Plans for First-Ever Personal Communicator with 2-Way Messaging, Iridium Global Satellite Coverage, and an Android Interface
The DeLorme® inReach(TM) affordably provides reliable two-way communication beyond the reach of cell phone signals and one-way satellite systems.
YARMOUTH, Maine, June 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- DeLorme, the innovation leader in navigation technology, today announced the Fall 2011 release of the DeLorme inReach, the first Iridium-based personal communicator to deliver two-way satellite text messaging and email; delivery confirmations; SOS capabilities; remote tracking, and an Android smartphone interface.
The inReach promises to revolutionize the way people stay affordably connected over the 90% of the Earth's surface not covered by cellular and land-based phone service. Its capabilities address the needs of anyone from outdoors enthusiasts to professional users in remote outposts.
The core communication component of the inReach is the Iridium 9602 short-burst data (SBD) transceiver, which provides a unique two-way communications connection through the world's furthest-reaching satellite network. Iridium's pole-to-pole global connectivity means inReach users can send and receive messages anywhere on the planet.
The GPS-enabled inReach can be used by itself or paired with either an Android smartphone or a DeLorme Earthmate PN-60w GPS.
When using the inReach as a standalone device, users can send pre-loaded text messages to designated recipients. They can also activate remote tracking, allowing others to follow their travels online via a continually-updated "bread crumb" trail. Unlike other standalone satellite messengers, the inReach provides delivery confirmation via flashing LED lights. In case of an emergency, an SOS key can be triggered. The SOS key is protected by a "safety" to prevent false alarms.
When paired with either an Android smartphone or the DeLorme Earthmate PN-60w GPS, users enjoy full-featured, two-way text messaging (up to 160 characters per message), to and from email addresses and cell phones. In case of emergency, Android or PN-60w users can describe their predicament so responders can better prepare, and an ongoing dialog can be maintained for mutual status updates. Any SOS message, whether relayed from a standalone or a paired inReach, will automatically activate remote tracking.
Android users can drive the inReach device's onboard GPS signal to their phone, improving both positional accuracy and phone battery life. A free application with DeLorme Topo North America maps will be available for the Android.
The inReach is compact, lightweight, waterproof, floatable and impact-resistant, and it can maintain satellite signal lock even in difficult GPS environments. Annual subscription plans for messaging and tracking begin at just $9.95 per month.
The DeLorme inReach will be available in October. Suggested retail price is $249.95.

Consumer Watchdog Says Senate Panel Should Subpoena Google Executives Larry Page and Eric Schmidt
WASHINGTON, June 22, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The refusal of Google's top executives, CEO Larry Page and Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt to testify at a hearing by the Senate's antitrust subcommittee demonstrates a contempt for Congress and the full Senate Judiciary Committee should subpoena the two executives, Consumer Watchdog said today.
Consumer Watchdog has been calling for Google CEO's sworn testimony before Congress for over a year and has distributed two popular online animated videos that have received more than half a million views that makes the case.
"How is it that Eric Schmidt has the time to hobnob at a gala White House State Dinner for German Chancellor Angela Merkel, but cannot find time to answer important questions from a Senate committee," asked John M. Simpson, director of the nonpartisan, nonprofit public interest group's Privacy Project. "What are Page and Schmidt afraid of? What do they have to hide? Congress should use its subpoena power to determine whether Google's dominance of the search industry is enabling the company to monopolize the Internet."
Google has proposed sending Chief Legal Officer David Drummond to a hearing, but a letter from U.S. Senator Herb Kohl, (D-WI), chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Antitrust, Competition Policy, and Consumer Rights, and Senator Mike Lee, (R-UT) the panel's ranking Republican said the subcommittee would "strongly prefer" Page or Schmidt at the proceeding, "which will address fundamental questions of business operations rather than merely legal issues."
"For a company whose mission is openness and transparency, Google has an obligation to be open with Congress and the American people and have the top executives answers questions with openness and transparency," said Jamie Court, Consumer Watchdog president.
Consumer Watchdog has been calling for Congressional hearing on Google since the Wi-Spy scandal erupted last year in which it was revealed the Internet giant's Street View cars collected private information from Wi-Fi networks from millions of homes in 30 nations.

Viewdle Unleashes Vampire-Themed "Third Eye," First Mobile Augmented Reality Game Using Face Recognition
The Historically-Rooted Free Android Game Identifies You and Your Friends as Vampires or Slayers, Lets You Build Alliances to Defend Empires, Battle Mortal Enemies
PALO ALTO, Calif., June 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Viewdle (http://www.viewdle.com), the only independent mobile-focused visual analysis company, today launches the vampire-themed "Third Eye," the first mobile augmented reality game using Viewdle's face recognition technology. Available for free in the Android market, "Third Eye" (http://www.viewdle.com/products/Third_Eye) allows real-people to become part of a steampunk-style massive multiplayer role-playing game that's steeped in history.
"Third Eye" - the first in a three-part gaming trilogy - uses Viewdle's face recognition technology to read the symmetry and other features of a player's face. The game reveals whether the person is a bloodsucker or a vampire slayer - essentially uncovering one's long hidden, true nature by reading their "faceprint." Along with identifying which side you're on, "Third Eye" recognizes if those around you are allies or sworn enemies.
"We're excited to launch Viewdle's 'Third Eye,' which really pushes the boundaries of augmented reality gaming," says Marisol MacGregor, Viewdle's head of product management. "'Third Eye' brings together compelling gameplay, bleeding-edge computer vision technology, and a highly-stylized aesthetic to really show what is possible on this new breed of smartphones."
"Third Eye's" gameplay and narrative, developed across three continents, is rooted in European, Asian and Caribbean history as it assigns players to historically-based societies and clans. Through an accelerometer-based mission, players are assigned to one of eight orders, such as the Borgias, the power-grabbing family from Spain that gained control of the Papacy in Renaissance Europe; the Loogaroos, a sect whose origins are in the voodoo folklore tradition of Haiti; the Shinobis, the sixth-century secretive Japanese clan that gave rise to the ninjas; and the Order of the Rose, the German-based source of the covert society know as the Rosicrucians. Once assigned a warrior family, players assemble armies, form alliances, protect their empires and attack foes. The objective of the first part of "Third Eye" is to amass an army and establish alliances. The second and third parts, which will come out later this year, will pit the assembled clans against one another in battle.
"In April, we launched SocialCamera, a new app that turns your mobile phone camera into a real-time messaging application, and today we launch the Third Eye, the first mobile game built around computer vision," said Jason Mitura, chief product officer at Viewdle. "As this platform evolves, what's coming up is even more exciting, and we'll start opening up SDKs for the developer community to allow them to build Viewdle's leading technology into their own applications."
"Viewdle has vast experience in producing industry-first apps that leverage the company's technology," said Laurent Gil, co-founder and CEO, Viewdle. "The company uses sophisticated, proprietary algorithms to automatically create a 'faceprint' of the captured and saved frames of a person's face, allowing Viewdle to develop and launch a wide range of products."

AMETEK Launches California Instruments CSW Series AC/DC Power Sources
New Generation Instruments Integrate High Performance Power Source and Power Analyzer to Replace Multi-Unit Systems
SAN DIEGO, June 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- AMETEK Programmable Power (http://www.programmablepower.com) today introduced the California Instruments CSW Series, a completely new generation of AC/DC power sources that address the demands for more features without additional cost. By combining a flexible AC/DC power source with a high performance power analyzer, the compact CSW Series is capable of handling complex applications that have traditionally required multiple systems. This high level of integration simplifies wiring, saves valuable rack space, and ultimately reduces system cost.
5,550 - 33,300 kVA Output
A direct-coupled, transformerless design allows the CSW Series to output AC and DC on up to three separate phases or on the same phase. A single unit provides up to 5,550 kVA output, and up to six units may be connected in parallel to provide up to 33,300 kVA output. Instead of changing configuration settings from a front panel or reconfiguring internal jumpers, as you need to do with other systems, all a user needs to do is to connect each auxiliary power source to the master power source with a system interface cable. When powered, the system recognizes that auxiliary units are connected and automatically configures itself.
Powerful Waveform Generation
Built around a modern, DSP-based digital controller, the CSW Series offers powerful waveform-generation capabilities allowing users to more easily generate complex harmonic waveforms, transient waveforms, and arbitrary waveforms than ever before. This controller allows the power source to provide both AC and DC outputs simultaneously on any of the three outputs. The AC outputs can run at frequencies up to 5 kHz, much higher than the typical 1.2 kHz offered by most other AC power sources.
The supplied Windows Graphical User Interface (GUI) program can be used to define harmonic waveforms by specifying amplitude and phase for up to 50 harmonics. The waveform data points are generated and downloaded by the GUI to the AC source through the remote interface. Up to 200 waveforms can be stored in nonvolatile memory and given a user defined name for easy recall.
Using the GUI program, users can also specify and generate arbitrary waveforms. The program includes a catalog of custom waveforms and also allows real-world waveforms captured on a digital oscilloscope to be downloaded to one of the many AC source's waveform memories.
The CSW series can also be ordered with firmware that provides pre-programmed test sequences for avionics testing and EMC testing. For avionics testing, there are options for both Airbus and Boeing test sequences, and includes both commercial and military tests. For EMC testing, test firmware is available for running IEC 61000 tests.
Waveform Acquisition and Harmonic Analysis
The CSW Series includes a measurement system that digitizes voltage and current waveforms in real time and stores measurements in a 4K deep sample buffer. This time domain information provides detailed information on both voltage and current waveforms. Waveform acquisitions can be triggered at a specific phase angle or from a transient program to allow precise positioning of the captured waveform with respect to the AC source output.
The front panel LCD displays captured waveforms with cursor readouts. The included GUI program also allows acquired waveform data to be displayed, printed, and saved to disk.
The CSW Series can also provide detailed harmonic information on acquired waveforms. Information on the first 50 harmonics of the fundamental voltage and current signals (up to 16 kHz) are available. Harmonic content can be displayed in both tabular and graphical formats on the front panel LCD for immediate feedback to the operator. Alternatively, the included GUI program can be used to display, print and save harmonic measurement data.
Other Key Features
The CSW Series has many other key features that make these power sources more effective and easier to use:
-- High Crest Factor. With a crest factor of up to 3.25:1; the CSW Series
AC source can drive difficult nonlinear loads with ease, delivering up
to 64 A of repetitive peak current (156 V range) per phase.
-- Ease of calibration. The CSW Series' voltage, current, phase angle, and
external signal input functions can be calibrated by using either the
front panel or GUI.
-- External Amplitude Modulation. The CSW Series provides an input that
allows users to modulate the output with an external signal. A 0-5 Vrms
provides 0 to greater than or equal to 20% modulation for each of the
three output phases (plus or minus 2% of full scale output). Users can
modulate any programmed function, be it internal or external.
-- External Sync Input. When this feature is enabled, the CSW Series will
track its output frequency and lock the Phase A output frequency to the
frequency of the TTL signal on the external sync input. Users can
program the phase angle of Phase A output relative to the edge of the
external TTL input. There is no jitter between the outputs and the
external TTL input.
-- External Direct Input. Users can tie any of the CSW Series' three phase
outputs to an external analog input. They can also program the gain on
each input separately.
-- External Gain Control. The CSW Series has two inputs that allows users
to set the gain externally on individual phases using an analog voltage.
The maximum gain for the high-voltage input is 44.13, the maximum gain
for the low-voltage input is 22.065.
-- Clock Output. When enabled, the CSW Series will output clock pulses in
sync with the output to enable two or three CSW Series units to sync
with one another for systems that require more than three phase output.
-- Sync Output. This TTL-level signal is available at either Sync Out BNC
connector on the rear panel or the Trigger BNC connector on the front
panel.
Availability
The CSW 5550 Series units are available 10-12 weeks after receipt of order.

Leo Burnett Unveils New Ad Unit Created With Facebook® at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity
The Comment Ad Unit and Sponsored Story Are the First Ever Marketing Tools Developed by an Ad Agency with Facebook
CANNES, France, June 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, Leo Burnett released the details of a new interactive ad unit created for Facebook. Designed by Leo Burnett Chicago, the new Comment ad lets brands spark conversations among friends by posting a video, photo, link or status and allowing people to respond. Via Facebook's platform, these conversations, in turn, can engage both a brand's fans and potential fans at scale.
On a global stage at today's Facebook seminar at Cannes - "Social By Design" - Carolyn Everson, Vice-President, Global Marketing Solutions for Facebook, revealed the new ad unit and related Sponsored Story, emphasizing its ability to enhance the way brands and people connect on Facebook.
"The collaboration between Facebook and Leo Burnett is particularly exciting," said Mark Renshaw, Chief Innovation Officer of Leo Burnett USA. "Through the creation of this ad unit we're helping Facebook and brands tap into people's desire and behavior to participate beyond brands' Facebook Pages."
The Comment ad unit was one of several ideas Leo Burnett submitted to Facebook for its 2010 Ad Expo, a call for submissions challenging ad agencies to create a new Facebook advertising unit that was inherently social by design. Leo Burnett called on its global creative leaders to design an innovative and organic way for brands to connect with Facebook users.
As the eighth type of premium ad unit offered on Facebook, the Comment ad unit starts off as a post - video, photo, link or status - to the brand's Facebook Page and also appears as an ad unit. From that point, Facebook users can comment or respond to the Page post through the ad unit. The conversations that follow can then be surfaced as Sponsored Stories, a way to drive additional exposure and engagement around the conversations between brands and consumers.
"We applaud Leo Burnett for providing brands with a new and unique way to spark conversations among people," said Blake Chandlee, VP of Global Agency Relations at Facebook. "With the most creative minds in the industry, agencies can and should be leading a new way of marketing that is personalized, social and engaging. We look forward to working with others to see future innovations that come from the agency community."
Facebook has given Leo Burnett and its clients two months of exclusive use of the new ad unit. Currently, Leo Burnett clients taking advantage of the Comment ad unit and Sponsored Story include, Allstate, Buick (General Motors), Hallmark, Samsung and The Ronald McDonald House Charities.
"The Comment ad is a great example of word-of-mouth-marketing at scale," said Renshaw. "It's an organic way to get brands into the conversations that hundreds of millions of Facebook users are having every day."

Kelley Blue Book, The Trusted Resource® for prices, values, and expert and consumer reviews on new and used vehicles, will be testing the new appliance to analyze click stream data created by users surfing their Web site. The company will be able to analyze this information to see what topics visitors cared most about, such as used and new vehicle prices, safety recall and warranty data, and vehicle buyer reviews.
"Kelley Blue Book will evaluate the new appliance to unlock the value of archived data in search of new ways to grow our business," said Karen Simmons, senior director of Data Warehousing at Kelley Blue Book. "This appliance allows organizations like ours to take a fresh look at historical information and use the insights we gain for competitive advantage."
Nearly 500 clients around the world are using Netezza technology today. Battelle's Pacific Northwest Division is using Netezza as part of the Pacific Northwest Smart Grid Demonstration Project, the U.S.'s largest, regional collaboration. In the demonstration, 60,000 customers in 11 utilities, across five states, will share a unique digital signal for their smart meters that will allow them to make better decisions about their energy use.
"The Pacific Northwest Smart Grid Demonstration Project uses IBM Netezza analytics to research new ways to improve the grid's ability to provide reliable, affordable and clean energy," said Ron Melton, the project's director. "Analytics allows us to verify the effectiveness of the smart grid technology being developed by the project, which is key to eventual scale up and support for renewable resources."
IBM Expands Big Data Analytics Portfolio
With today's news, IBM is expanding its Big Data analytics portfolio with Netezza technology to help clients capture and analyze all types of data on a massive scale.
IBM Netezza technology joins IBM's Hadoop-based BigInsights software, as well as Streams software -- both born in IBM Research -- creating the industry's broadest portfolio of workload optimized Big Data technologies. The software incorporates Watson-like technologies, including unstructured text analytics and indexing that allows users to analyze rapidly changing data formats and types on the fly.
IBM recently announced a $100 million investment for continued research on technologies and services that will enable clients to manage and capitalize on data as it continues to grow in diversity, speed and volume.

Chelsio Wire Direct Enables New Benchmarks For Low Latency UDP, Multicast, Wire Tracing and Time Stamping
New Software Modules Enable Three Microsecond Latency For High Frequency Trading and Other Delay Sensitive Applications
SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Chelsio Communications, a leading provider of 10Gb Ethernet Unified Wire adapters, ASICs and unified storage solutions, today announced the availability of its WireDirect(TM) technology: software modules that enable direct wire access from user space to the Chelsio T4 network adapter with complete bypass of the kernel, which results in an ultra-low, three microsecond deterministic latency 10Gb Ethernet solution for high frequency trading and other delay-sensitive applications.
The Chelsio WireDirect(WD) modules include WD-QP (Queue Pair), WD-UDP with Multicast, and WD-TRACE. The WD-QP module provides queue pairs for the user space through which the user application can directly send and receive Ethernet packets to the wire without having to go through a kernel stack. It provides 100 percent kernel bypass and zero copy with packet polling for data to and from the network wire.
WD-UDP with Multicast is layered on top of the WD-QP which in turn is layered on top of the actual T4 silicon. WD-UDP with Multicast is a user-space UDP stack with Multicast address reception and socket acceleration that enables users to run their existing UDP socket applications unmodified. WD-TRACE allows direct on-the-wire packet tracing for applications that require packet capture, time stamping and sniffing.
WD-QP performance has been measured at 3.0us and WD-UDP with Multicast at 3.2us. iWARP and MPI latency is 3.4us and 3.6us respectively.
"High Frequency Trading has transformed the investment landscape, but inefficiencies in the network get magnified with the continual increase in traffic and complexity. Our Wire Direct software creates a fast path for UDP and multicast traffic with the shortest delay possible, enabling the building of state-of-the-art trading infrastructures based on Ethernet," said Kianoosh Naghshineh, president and CEO of Chelsio.
The WD Technology
The WD-QP API provides an asynchronous RDMA Verbs-like interface allowing zero-copy low latency Ethernet Communication. It is intended to be used by middleware to implement a full user mode Ethernet interface, as well as by custom applications needing low latency/high packet rates. The API provides a QP interface for sending and receiving Ethernet packets.
The WD-UDP with Multicast module provides an accelerated Sockets interface for sending and receiving both unicast and multicast UDP datagrams. No application changes are required to take advantage of WD-UDP with Multicast. The WD socket library accelerates Socket calls and applications that use these calls will exercise the WD-UDP logic to provide seamless I/O acceleration. WD-UDP also supports end-to-end traffic prioritization and application I/O QoS through the network interface card and the switch.
WD-TRACE is a user level module that is built on top of WD-QP (similar to WD-UDP with Multicast) and allows bi-directional, direct on the wire packet tracing, packet capture and packet filtering at line rates up to 20Gbps by bypassing the host OS kernel and I/O stack and going directly to the user space. The hardware packet time stamping capabilities have an ultra-precise resolution of 3.6 nanoseconds. Additionally, WD-TRACE allows concurrent low-latency WD-UDP operation; when required the trace traffic travels on a separate path through the NIC and goes into a different DMA queue that's handled by a dedicated core and thus not disruptive to the regular inbound traffic.
Availability
The WD-QP, WD-UDP with Multicast and WD-TRACE for Linux are available now from Chelsio and its distributors. Additional software modules will be released over the next six months.
