Infineon Raceway Lights Up With Major Panasonic Solar Panel Installation

New High-Efficiency Panasonic Panels From Sanyo Cut Energy Usage

SONOMA, Calif., June 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Infineon Raceway, in partnership with Panasonic, has completed a major milestone in energy conservation with the successful installation of 1,652 solar panels at the famed Northern California raceway.

The project, part of Infineon Raceway's long-standing sustainability initiative, was unveiled to the racing world press for the first time today. The event offered members of the media the opportunity to examine the installation, meet key Infineon Raceway and Panasonic Enterprise Solutions Company executives, and learn more about Panasonic's plan to become the number one green innovation leader in the electronics industry by 2018 and Infineon's goal of becoming one of the most energy-efficient raceways in the world.

The high-efficiency solar panels, manufactured by Panasonic's Sanyo division, will cover 41-percent of the raceway's energy usage. In a further move designed to reduce energy consumption, Panasonic has also provided the raceway with a low-energy LED video board, replacing the current installation on Highway 37.

To emphasize the importance of energy conservation, Infineon Raceway had the solar panels installed so that they would be visible to the majority of fans attending events at the facility. Panels have been placed above the Turn 10 Sound Wall, the Main Grandstand, the administration office and the Raceway Cafe, as well as the Jim Russell Racing Drivers School building. Race fans will have an opportunity to see them during this weekend's Toyota/Save Mart 350.

Separate from the energy savings achieved by the solar panel arrays, Panasonic's new full-color, dual-sided LED video board will use less energy than  the previous sign, which was powered by 7,000 traditional light bulbs. Easily visible from Highway 37, the new board measures 5.77' high by 17.32' wide, and uses 57,600 LEDs to create messages brighter than the older technology. Yet, it consumes just 50% of the energy of the board it replaces.

As part of its commitment to achieving a sustainable future, Infineon Raceway has already introduced low/no carbon racing, boasts a comprehensive recycling program and even uses 3,000 sheep to trim the grass around the track and grounds.

The photovoltaic cells in Panasonic's solar panels are manufactured in the United States in Salem, Ore.  The aggregate impact of the installed panels is generation of 353 kilowatts of power. It is estimated that the installation will save 34,000 barrels of oil over 30 years.

4. The results of the voting for the frequency of future advisory votes to approve the compensation of the Company's named executive officers were: 39,522,521 votes for every three years, 91,526 for every two years, 68,003,682 for every one year, 1,014,295 abstentions, and 18,987,138 non-votes; and

5. The shareholders adopted the Agreement and Plan of Merger and Reorganization, entered into as of April 25, 2011, by and among UTStarcom, UTStarcom Holdings Corp., a Cayman Islands exempted company and a wholly-owned subsidiary of UTStarcom ("UTSHoldings"), and UTSI Mergeco Inc., a Delaware corporation and a wholly owned subsidiary of UTStarcom Holdings Corp., pursuant to which UTSI Mergeco Inc. will merge with and into UTStarcom with UTStarcom surviving the merger as a wholly owned subsidiary of UTS Holdings (the "Merger"), and whereby each issued and outstanding share of the common stock of UTStarcom will be converted into the right to receive one UTS Holdings ordinary share, which shares will be issued by UTS Holdings as part of the Merger.

The scenario: In New York, an officer discovers that the driver is driving without a seatbelt fastened but cannot pull over the driver because driving without a seatbelt is a secondary offense. The officer decides to pull over the driver and gives driver a ticket for speeding and the unbuckled seatbelt. House Committee Acts to Halt Any FCC Expenditures Related to LightSquared Proposal Until Harmful GPS Interference Issues Resolved

Amendment Offered by Representatives Austria and Yoder Passes in Unanimous Voice Vote

WASHINGTON, June 23, 2011 - The U.S. House of Representatives Appropriations Committee today approved action that would "fence" or halt the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) from expending any funds related to a conditional waiver it granted a company called LightSquared until all concerns have been resolved about interference with Global Positioning System (GPS).

The amendment was passed in a unanimous voice vote by the full House Appropriations Committee.  Observers reported that the vote was punctuated with a "loud" response - underscoring the growing Congressional concern about the harmful interference to GPS systems that will occur if the FCC moves ahead with approval of LightSquared's plans to deploy 40,000 ground stations.  The amendment was offered by U.S. Reps. Steve Austria (R-Ohio) and Kevin Yoder (R-Kan.) and was part of the Financial Services Appropriations Subcommittee's bill.

Commenting on the vote, Jim Kirkland, vice president and general counsel of Trimble, a founding member of the Coalition to Save Our GPS, said, "GPS is a vital national resource that is today fundamental to our economy, national security and to virtually every industry sector. Business, consumers and the government will be hobbled if the FCC proceeds on this path with LightSquared.  The vote today puts 'teeth' into legislation that will protect government and private GPS users from LightSquared's proposal."

Kirkland said Coalition members are highly appreciative of both the legislation and the many Members of Congress who have intervened to protect GPS from the damaging and debilitating interference that multiple tests have confirmed will occur if LightSquared's plans are allowed to proceed.  In a highly unusual process, the FCC early this year granted a conditional waiver to LightSquared, a Virginia-based company backed by a New York-based hedge fund, to develop spectrum immediately adjacent to the spectrum long used for GPS.

The legislation reads, "None of the funds made available in this Act may be used by the Federal Communications Commission to remove the conditions imposed on commercial terrestrial operations in the Order and Authorization adopted by the Commission on January 26, 2011 (DA 11-133), or otherwise permit such operations, until the Commission has resolved concerns of potential widespread harmful interference by such commercial terrestrial operations to commercially available Global Positioning System devices."

The XWH200 Universal Wireless HD Video and Audio Kit fulfills the longstanding dream of many HDTV owners - the elimination of signal cables connected to the set. Hulu Plus on Android

Hulu Plus is now available for six Android devices. Shouldn't applications that work on one Android device, work on another providing they are the same version? This kind of segmentation is one of the big things that suck with Android. This is awesome for Hulu users though. I'd love to have it for Windows phone. This should also add value for those who might be interested in aquiring Hulu.
