UBM TechInsights Announces the Discovery of Samsung 20-nm Class NAND Flash
Confirms Samsung's next generation process node is in production

Examination of the device, with a die-marking of K9GBG08U0A, revealed a process technology node of 27-nm, in line with Samsung's description of 20-nm class.
The 27-nm node by Samsung has effectively increased their productivity by over 50-percent when compared to previous 35-nm iterations of the same Flash family. Originally announced in April of 2010, this higher-performing NAND Flash will likely expand Samsung's coverage in consumer electronic devices, such as tablets and smartphones, and improve the proficiency of their memory card solutions.
This is the second Flash device discovered in production at the 20-nm class, joining IMFT's 25-nm MLC NAND Flash which was previously analyzed by UBM TechInsights in 2010.

SEATTLE, June 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Alaska Airlines announced today that Gogo® Inflight Internet service is now available on nearly all aircraft in its fleet. With the installation of the service scheduled for completion later this month, Alaska's fleet will be 92 percent Wi-Fi equipped, which includes its 737-800 and -900 aircraft flying predominantly longer routes. Only seven of the airline's 117 Boeing 737s will not offer Wi-Fi, including its freighter and combi (part-passenger/part-freight) aircraft and three 737-400s.

TAIPEI, Taiwan, June 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- At 2011 Computex today, Microsoft Corp. showed hardware partners the next version of Windows, internally code-named "Windows 8," to help the partners build devices that take advantage of the new user experience. As part of this technical preview, Mike Angiulo, corporate vice president of Windows Planning, Hardware and PC Ecosystem at Microsoft, demonstrated how "Windows 8" is optimized for newer touch-centric hardware, including tablets, while still delivering the flexibility, connectivity and power that people have come to expect from Windows today.
The technical demonstration also highlighted the new operating system's ability to work across both x86 and ARM-based architectures, with a variety of early prototypes shown running the new operating system. Microsoft and silicon chip makers AMD, Intel Corporation, NVIDIA Corp., Qualcomm Inc. and Texas Instruments Inc. initially announced plans in January to work together on the next version of Windows.
