IDrive Online Backup Announces 'IDrive Unlimited,' Allowing Backup of an Unlimited Amount of Data

CALABASAS, Calif., March 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Pro Softnet Corp., a long-time pioneer in online backup and offsite data storage and developer of IDrive.com, announces the launch of IDrive Unlimited. IDrive Unlimited allows an unlimited amount of backup from a single Windows machine at only $49.50 per year. This new plan is offered alongside IDrive's 5GB free Basic plan and their Pro plans which vary in size from 50GBs to 1TB.

Customers can try IDrive Unlimited free for 30 days by starting a new account at IDrive.com, there is no credit card required for trial.

    --  Files deleted from the Backup Set (files selected for backup) are
        removed from IDrive's servers after 30 days.
    --  After 150GBs of data is stored IDrive restricts the speed of backup to
        200Kbps max, restore speeds remain uncapped.

    Starting in January 2008, OMEGA is a European research project
whose aim is to develop the next generation of home networking. Its
innovation dwells in the creation of a multiple-technology gigabit network
based on powerline communication, radio and visible light communication, the
complete system being commanded by a common media access control layer. Known
as the Inter-MAC, this technology independent layer provides services as well
as connectivity to any number of devices in any room of the home;
furthermore, it allows the service to follow the user from device to device.

    Inside the OMEGA project, SPiDCOM is the leader of the PLC

AT&T to Expand Backhaul in 2011 in Cleveland and Akron to Enable 4G Speeds, Increase Mobile Broadband Capacity, Upgrade of More Than 200 Cell Sites

CLEVELAND, March 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T*, building on its strong 2010 record of network accomplishments, today announced network improvement plans designed to enable 4G speeds** and enhanced reliability to Cuyahoga and Summit Counties in 2011. The wireless network enhancement plans are part of AT&T's planned $19-billion investment in its wireless and wireline networks and other capital projects in 2011.

Tom Pelto, president, AT&T Ohio, says AT&T plans the following network improvements in Cleveland and Akron in 2011:

    --  Deploying enhanced backhaul connections to 239 cell sites to enable 4G
        speeds and add capacity to support more mobile traffic, like adding
        traffic lanes to a highway
    --  Installing 6 new cell sites to improve network coverage
    --  Adding spectrum carriers to 37 cell sites to support more traffic

Pelto said AT&T invested nearly $450 million in its Cleveland and Akron wireless and wireline network from 2008 through 2010 as part of its commitment to superior service in the area. In 2010, AT&T's wireless network expansion in Cleveland and Akron included:

    --  Installing 3 new cell sites
    --  Adding spectrum carriers to 162 cell sites
    --  Deploying a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) network at Cleveland Browns
        Stadium to enhance network coverage during events

The nation's fastest mobile broadband network is getting faster with 4G. A key planned upgrade for 2011 is deployment of enhanced backhaul connections to 239 cell sites in Cleveland and Akron to enable 4G speeds. Backhaul connections carry traffic between cell sites and AT&T's nationwide network. Enhanced fiber-optic and Ethernet backhaul connections expand capacity many times over, and enable additional expansion in the years to come.

QJE's first foray into magazine publishing, under the banner of VIBE Ventures, was VIBE, an entertaining chronicle of urban life founded by Quincy Jones.  He later added to his empire when his publishing group purchased SPIN Magazine.

In television, Quincy Jones was executive producer of the hit NBC-TV series The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air (now in syndication) starring a young Will Smith, UPN's In The House starring LL Cool J, and Fox Television's long-running sketch comedy show Mad TV.  On March 25, 1996, Quincy Jones executive produced the most watched awards show in the world, the 68th Annual Academy Awards.  The show received widespread acclaim as one of the most memorable Academy Award shows in recent years.

In 1994, Quincy Jones led a group of businessmen, including Hall of Fame football player Willie Davis, television producer Don Cornelius, television journalist Geraldo Rivera and businesswoman Sonia Gonsalves Salzman in the formation of Qwest Broadcasting, a minority controlled broadcasting company which purchased television stations in Atlanta and New Orleans for approximately $167 million, establishing it as one of the largest minority owned broadcasting companies in the United States.  Quincy served as chairman and CEO of Qwest Broadcasting.  In 1999, taking advantage of the rapid escalation of broadcast station values, Jones and his partners sold Qwest Broadcasting for a reported $270 million.

In 1990, Jones' life and career were chronicled in the critically acclaimed Warner Bros. film, Listen Up: The Lives Of Quincy Jones. Produced by Courtney Sale Ross, the film helped illuminate not only Quincy's life and spirit, but also revealed much about the development of the African American musical tradition.

In 2001, Quincy Jones added the title "Best Selling Author" to his list of accomplishments when his autobiography "Q: The Autobiography of Quincy Jones" entered the New York Times, Los Angeles Times and Wall Street Journal Best-Sellers lists.  Released by Doubleday Publishing, the critically acclaimed biography retells Jones' life story from his days as an impoverished youth on the Southside of Chicago through a massively impressive career in music, film and television where he worked beside legends such as Billie Holiday, Ray Charles, Dizzy Gillespie, Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald and Michael Jackson, among many others.  In conjunction with the autobiography, Rhino Records released a 4-CD boxed set of Jones' music, spanning his more than 5 decade career in the music business, entitled "Q: The Musical Biography of Quincy Jones."

Nokia Dumps Qt

That new Nokia CEO seems to hate anything open source. You know, he comes from Microsoft. Nokia is passing Qt to another company and hopefully Qt will survive this turmoil. It is an excellent platform for development.

EarthLink Completes Phase I of Eastern Tennessee Middle Mile Fiber Broadband Project

ATLANTA, March 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- EarthLink, Inc. (Nasdaq: ELNK), a leading IP infrastructure and services company, today announced the completion of Phase I of the Eastern Tennessee Middle Mile Fiber Broadband Project by its business communications segment EarthLink Business.

In March of 2010, DeltaCom, Inc., now an EarthLink Business company, was awarded the $9.4 million in federal stimulus funding by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) through the Broadband Technology Opportunity Program (BTOP) to enable the network expansion. The Phase I network expansion includes a 343-mile overbuild of an existing diverse fiber optic route from Nashville to Knoxville and the addition of a new diverse fiber optic route from Knoxville to Chattanooga. This network expansion is now ready for wholesale SONET intercity transport service.  Deployment of a new diverse fiber optic route from Knoxville to Blountville is underway and targeted to be ready for SONET transport service by the end of the first quarter of 2011.

The final phase of the project, targeted for completion in the third quarter of 2011, includes the addition of five new interconnection points, including Cookeville, Oak Ridge, Cleveland, Sweetwater and Morristown, Tennessee. These communities are located in counties designated as underserved by Connected Tennessee, an independent non-profit organization that develops and implements effective strategies for technology deployment, use and literacy in Tennessee.

The new network will not only enable broadband access for a number of core community institutions, including education and healthcare providers, but also allow Internet service providers to connect to the EarthLink network for intercity transport service. Combined with recent corporate acquisitions, this fiber broadband expansion also allows EarthLink Business to further expand network coverage and continue to build nationwide connectivity for businesses with locations across the U.S.

Microsoft's 2010 U.S. Remote Working National Research findings suggest that more employees are working from public places, reporting 21 percent on a plane, 27 percent from a coffee shop and 37 percent on vacation. Consequently, users are increasingly taking advantage of WiFi networks in public places. In fact, the U.S. experienced a 17.3 percent growth in public Wi-Fi usage in 2010, according to JiWire.

Despite such rapid growth in public WiFi usage, many are unaware of the risks associated with transmitting information across unprotected public networks.
