Entrust Introduces Publicly Trusted Secure E-mail Certificates, Adds Powerful Functionality to Extended Validation, Unified Communication SSL
Secure e-mail certificates as a managed service enable individuals, organizations to encrypt or digitally sign e-mails, documents
DALLAS, Aug. 17 -- Expanding on an already impressive digital certificate portfolio, Entrust, Inc., adds publicly trusted secure e-mail certificates to its certificate management service, enabling digital signature capabilities and encryption of e-mails and other documents. The managed certificates provide a cost-effective approach for individuals or organizations to secure important communications.
"While there are many different methods to secure or digitally sign e-mail communication, these publicly trusted certificates enable a simple, straightforward method of realizing these capabilities for individuals, organizations and enterprises alike," said Entrust President and CEO Bill Conner. "Secure e-mail certificates are versatile, cost-effective and provide important verification and authentication abilities critical within today's online channel."
Based on the X.509 certificate standard, Entrust Secure E-mail Certificates enable standards-based S/MIME capabilities and are available in two distinct levels -- personal and enterprise. As their names suggest, each is designed to provide the appropriate ID validation at price points for each specific environment. And each certificate is publicly trusted by today's most popular Web browsers -- all of which come standard with embedded Entrust root certificates.
The personal secure e-mail certificate is a smart approach for individuals that require non-identity assurance usage for digital signature and e-mail encryption capabilities. It provides e-mail privacy via encryption and also helps prove a message's origination.
In contrast, enterprise secure e-mail certificates include validation of the organization, e-mail domain and end-user, offering the higher ID assurance level required in organizations. These IDs are perfect for digitally signing or encrypting e-mail communication, but also can be extended to digitally sign word processing documents. These certificates also maintain access to historical e-mails with automated, full-key history backup and restore capabilities.
Secure e-mail certificates for the enterprise enable administrators to revoke employee digital IDs upon departure to prevent them from digitally signing as an employee -- a key security feature for today's organization.
This release of Entrust Certificate Services also enhances the multi-domain capabilities of its SSL certificates. Available for Entrust's line of extended validation (EV) and unified communications (UC) digital certificates, multi-domain certificates allow organizations to use a single certificate to secure multiple domains or hostnames, effectively streamlining the management effort associated with these machines.
Entrust Secure E-mail, EV and UC Multi-Domain Certificates are all available from Entrust as a managed service offering, helping eliminate the need for in-house infrastructure, software or expertise.

Aretta Communications Announces Interoperability With Polycom® SoundPoint® IP
SMBs benefit from NetPBX Pro® and NetSIP® extensibility testing
ATLANTA, Aug. 17 -- Continuing its goal of becoming the most accessible, extensible hosted telephony provider in the market, Aretta Communications has made its NetPBX Pro and NetSIP trunking platform interoperable with Polycom SoundPoint IP handsets.
As a result of the interoperability, Aretta users will be able to integrate the most popular features of the NetPBX Pro and NetSIP trunking platform with Polycom's products. Available features include the ability to provision fully compliant Polycom SIP phones via an automated web interface from Aretta. Phone configurations are generated immediately and securely stored on Aretta provisioning servers. Aretta users can add additional phones on an as-needed basis, eradicating the need for expensive truck rolls and lengthy wait times.
NetPBX Pro, a cloud-based IP-PBX developed especially for small and medium businesses (SMBs), is Asterisk-based and can be provisioned in minutes upon order. Priced by the channel and allowing for unlimited extensions, NetPBX Pro includes all of the advanced telephony features enterprises and call centers have come to expect at no additional charge. NetSIP trunking connects Asterisk or other IP-PBXs to the public phone network, enabling users to check call detail records in real time, order phone numbers from more than 6,300 rate centers in 43 countries, configure failover, and more.
"We are constantly seeking ways to make our platform and services more open for the SMB marketplace," said Marc Fribush, President of Aretta Communications. "The ability to interoperate with Polycom is an important step in providing our customers with access to the widest variety of options in the marketplace, making it easier and faster than ever for SMBs to have enterprise-class telephony solutions."
"Interoperability is a necessary ingredient for innovation of services and technologies that create new value for users," said Carl Ford, Partner at Crossfire Media. "Interoperability has important economic consequences, especially for SMBs, which are continually looking for ways to keep costs down. Systems with high interoperability have lower equipment costs and lower transactions costs, higher competition between equipment suppliers, higher productivity through automation, and more innovation of technology and applications."

Real Estate 'Area Highlighter' iPhone Feature Puts Homes at Buyers' Finger Tips
New Realtor.com® iPhone App Update Includes Six New Features, Supports New 4.0 Social Features
CAMPBELL, Calif., Aug. 17 -- Building on the success of the Realtor.com premier Real Estate Search iPhone application, Move, Inc. (NASDAQ:MOVE), the leader in online real estate, today announces a new Area Highlighter feature enabling users to easily search a specified location by free-style drawing on a map with the touch of a finger. Making on-the-go property search more fun and interactive, the new Realtor.com Area Highlighter iPhone feature delivers instant access to consumers and real estate professionals interested in customizing search locations specific to an area of interest as they use their iPhone to browse the largest and freshest online collection of properties for sale.
Offering more innovative search capabilities than any other real estate mobile application on the market today, the newly updated Realtor.com Real Estate Search iPhone app includes a host of new property, lot and community search features including the ability to perform rich custom searches for properties from categories such as "single story," "water view," "water front" and "swimming pools." Exploring new cities and neighborhoods also becomes easier with the new Location Browser feature, which makes it convenient for those unsure of a city's name or neighborhood to find the location of interest. Users will now also be able to quickly recall the past five searched locations they've viewed by using the Recent Locations feature.
In addition to launching the new Area Highlighter feature, Realtor.com is also introducing new features optimized for the new iPhone iOS 4.0. Features specific to the new iPhone iOS 4.0 include the Share Listing by SMS feature that empowers agents to leverage additional social distribution of their listings, while enabling consumers to share their favorite properties with friends by tapping the Send as Text Message button on the navigation bar. Listing agents can also benefit from more traffic to their listings via the Calendar Integration feature, which lets users add homes scheduled to host an open house, as well as the property details and agent's contact information to their calendars.
Realtor.com President, Errol Samuelson says, "By continually evolving our mobile experience with new features like Area Highlighter, Realtor.com delivers on our commitment to develop innovative and interactive search experiences enabling consumers and real estate professionals to connect and find properties in a manner that's complementary to their mobile lifestyles."
Samuelson goes on to explain the Realtor.com Real Estate Search iPhone app continues to successfully connect potential home buyers with real estate professionals, and consistently receives high ratings from users searching for properties on the go.
Since its launch in January 2010, the Realtor.com iPhone app has been downloaded more than 1.5 million times, and is the leading real estate application in terms of number of features, end-user ratings and performance, according to a report issued last month by real estate consulting firm, Clareity Consulting. In addition, visits, e-mail leads and phone calls from the Realtor.com Real Estate Search iPhone app increased by more than 60 percent in the second quarter of 2010 as compared to the first quarter of that same year.
"We're very pleased that consumers who have the Realtor.com Real Estate Search app are using it approximately 16 minutes per session, and we attribute their engagement to the quality of the app and the important role it plays in their search efforts," comments Samuelson. "We look forward to introducing additional mobile search products later this year that will support the needs of both consumers and real estate professionals as they navigate real estate."

Meridian's Launch of its Revolutionary New Web-based Healthcare Reporting System at HFMA is the 'Hit' of the Conference
Meridian Announces First Major Contract with AMG Integrated Healthcare Management in Lafayette, LA
DALLAS, Aug. 16 -- Meridian Healthcare Intelligence, a Dallas-based software company, has launched the first web-based, user-friendly hospital reporting system that will interface with any healthcare provider's current financial operating system. Meridian's system extracts patient data to create detailed, real time financial and clinical reports. Meridian's software was the "hit" new product at the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) Conference in Las Vegas last month.
Meridian CEO, Chris LeBlanc, describes the software as, "a breakthrough new product for hospital managers. We were thrilled by the enthusiastic reception we received at the HFMA conference. Meridian's software is easy to use, completely automated, requires no hardware or additional personnel, and it provides managers with a detailed financial picture in real-time. It will improve operating margins and prevent wasteful spending on a daily basis. It's the first tool that allows hospital administrators to manage their business proactively rather than reactively," said LeBlanc.
AMG Integrated Healthcare Management in Lafayette, LA tested Meridian's software and became Meridian's first major hospital system contract. AMG Integrated Healthcare Management, a nine-hospital system that owns and operates long term acute care and physical rehabilitation hospitals throughout Louisiana and Mississippi is using the web-based software to enthusiastic reviews.
AMG's chief operating officer August J. Rantz, IV, declared, "This is the best financial reporting software that I've ever seen. It has two very big advantages: first, it's compatible with our operating system and second, it allows us to look at our operations in a way that we've never been able to before, real time. We can see a detailed breakdown of our actual patient costs by department by patient every day. This product is going to change the way we manage our cost of care, employees and physicians."
Meridian's real time software provides hospital administrators with:
-- Patient Case Management tools with the ability to identify best
practices, effectively manage the cost of a patient's treatment, and
forecast patient profitability
-- PPD Statistics including profit margins and cost
-- Physician Analysis with the ability to compare physician performance

Verizon Wireless Expands 3G Wireless Coverage in Somerset County, MD
- Data Capacity Increased to Enable Faster Uploads and Downloads - 2009 Regional Network Investment Tops $274 M to Further Enhance 3G Network Advantage - More Than $2.3 B Invested Regionally Since 2000 - Verizon Wireless Test Drivers Drove More Than 18,000 Miles on Local Roadways in First Half of Year
LAUREL, Md., Aug. 16 -- In a continuing effort to provide the best wireless service for local residents in Somerset County, Md., Verizon Wireless has expanded its network with a new cell site. The new cell site provides increased wireless voice and 3G data coverage in Marion Station in the area surrounding Crisfield Marion Rd.
The increased coverage is part of the company's aggressive multi-billion dollar network investment each year to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless' voice and data services. Last year alone, the company spent $274 million on regional network improvements, bringing total network investment in the region since 2000 to more than $2.3 billion.
"Even the most sophisticated wireless device is only as good as the network it runs on," said Mike Maiorana, Verizon Wireless Regional President. "Verizon Wireless continues to invest in our network and add capacity to stay ahead of growing demand and ensure our customers have an even better wireless experience tomorrow than they had today."
Verizon Wireless has the nation's largest and most reliable 3G broadband network with five times the coverage of other networks which makes advanced services like turn-by-turn navigation, over-the-air downloads of the latest applications, text/picture messaging, video and music downloads, web browsing and 3D gaming possible. Customer demand for these advanced services continues to grow.
The company's "nation's most reliable wireless network" reputation is based on network studies performed by real-life test men and test women throughout the country. Locally, test men and women traveled more than 18,747 miles of area roadways to test the Verizon Wireless network and the networks of competitors in the first half of 2010. Using sophisticated testing equipment, Verizon Wireless' local team of network technicians conducted 66,552 voice call attempts and 373,899 data tests on the Verizon Wireless network and the networks of major competitors. Unmarked test vehicles are equipped with computers that automatically conduct voice calls and data tests.
Results from this internal network quality assurance test program confirm that Verizon Wireless is the 3G network quality leader in the Virginia, Maryland and DC region, and correlate with other third-party network quality findings, including the J.D. Power and Associates 2010 Wireless Call Quality Performance Study(SM), Vol.1.
In addition to enhancing its 3G network, Verizon Wireless has also begun testing its 4G network which it plans to deploy in 2010 in 25 to 30 U.S. markets, covering 100 million people. Verizon Wireless' 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless network will offer dramatically higher wireless speeds and reliability than even today's most advanced 3G network.

The Electronics Industry's EE Times Group and NXP Announce the Winners of the LPC1100 Cortex-M0 Design Challenge
Innovative, social-networking community for engineers worldwide attracted more than 1,600 community members and 450 unique designs; Prizes total more than $10,000
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 16 -- EE Times Group, a UBM company and the daily source of essential business and technical information for the electronics industry's decision makers, today announced the winning design of the NXP LPC1100 Cortex-M0 Design Challenge (http://www.LPC1100challenge.com), a six month contest and community, sponsored by NXP Semiconductors and Digi-Key Corporation. Community members rated and voted from an original pool of more than 450 designs, submitted in this international competition. The objective of the three-phase Design Challenge was to foster a social community where electronics engineering contestants build, test, and display their designs, based on the NXP's LPC1100 and the LPCXpresso development tool platform. The challenge is organized in three phases - Conceptual Design, Hardware Design and Final Prototype. To review all the designs, visit http://www.LPC1100challenge.com.
The Grand Prize Winner, Low-Weight Low-Power Variometer (Thermal Indicator) and Flight Logger (For RC Gliders) Using Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) Walkie-Talkie by (termohlen), used the LPCXpresso to poll variometers for altitude, altitude change (indicating thermal), and temperature. In addition, it polls battery voltage; generates speech (from .wav data in micro-SD) and controls mic-key of (Cobra Micro Talk) walkie-talkie (removed from case); and stores all flight data on micro-SD card. The included application also allows plotting of all flight data (in MS Excel). This system could be used in Thermal Duration (TD), F3B, F3J, cross country, or any powered aircraft. Termohlen was awarded $3,000 in Apple® Gift Cards; in addition NXP offered an all expenses paid invitation to attend ESC Boston, September 20-23, 2010.
Second Prize goes to Wikipedia Cortex by (rossum), an expert with 23 years writing software for consumer media. The Wikipedia player offers smooth scrolling, clear text and all of human knowledge in the palm of your hand. This device can also play photos, music and games as well as other applications with alternate firmware. Rossum was awarded $1,500 in Apple® Gift Cards.
Honorable Mention goes to Energy Friendly Socket by (mary), a student of Wuhan University of Technology in China. Her project developed an Energy Friendly Socket (EFS) using the LPC1100 microcontroller. Its function was to calculate the power consumption of the electrical appliances which are plugged in it and send out the calculated value via ZIGBEE module. After downloading, different types of bar charts can be drawn to present the data graphically. Users can also set strategy for electricity usage to take advantage of off-peak rates. The goal of the socket is not only to help reduce electricity bills, but also to reduce the release of carbon dioxide and toxic gases which are emitted by the electrical appliances and to promote energy-saving in the electric power system. The socket will eventually establish a scientific pattern of electricity consumption.
The other Honorable Mention went to Noisy Display by Jeroen Hilgers, who used The LPC1114 to control a row of RGB LEDs fixed to the end of a rattle. The LEDs blink in patterns while the rattle is rotated and are drawn in the air. Four user images are stored in the flash of the LPC1114 and Images can be edited on the LPC1114 using the built-in editor. The built-in editor uses a PS/2 mouse as input device and a television set as display device. (Due to the noise, the device is suitable for use during the world cup soccer.) Both Mary and Jeroen were awarded $1,000 Apple® Gift Cards.
"We are very pleased with the many creative designs that we've seen in this competition," said Geoff Lees, VP & GM NXP Semiconductors. "The participants proved that with prices starting at just 65 cents, our Cortex-M0 family delivers true 32-bit performance, at power levels and prices usually attributed to much lower-performance devices."
A set of expert judges as well Community Member peers rated and voted for one overall winner for each Phase. In addition, during each phase, Community Members were selected for prizes based on their community participation and user feedback on the best LPCXpresso enhancement suggestions.
More than 450 contestants submitted a valid title, abstract, and block diagram, received a free LPCXpresso development tool.
"The NXP LPC1100 design contestants show us that there really are no barriers to creativity," said Brian Fuller, EE Times Products Strategist. "Engineers from across the world created designs that are clever, cool, and promising--all using a device that costs less than a cup of coffee."

More Epic Battles Between History's Greatest Warriors!
Spike TV Renews The Multi-Platform Hit Series "Deadliest Warrior" For A Third Season Navy SEAL Richard "Mack" Machowicz Joins The Cast
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 16 -- History's most lethal combatants will continue the fight for ultimate supremacy as Spike TV renews "Deadliest Warrior," the network's first original franchise hit, for a third season, it was announced today by Sharon Levy, executive vice president, original programming, Spike TV. The series has averaged 1.6 million viewers over it first two seasons, the most recent airing from April-July. The season 2 finale on July 27 was the #2 ranked show on cable in its timeslot. The third season of "Deadliest Warrior" will premiere 10 episodes in Summer 2011.
Mack, a Navy SEAL and former host and producer of "Future Weapons" and "Weapons That Changed The World," joins the cast for the new season. Mack brings a warrior's perspective to this series, as well as a weapons and battle tactician's expertise. Mack will provide viewers a richer understanding of the men behind the weapons and provide insight into the specific military strategies of all the featured warriors. His expertise with soldier craft and military hardware comes from his experience as a 10-year veteran of the U.S. Navy SEALs. During his service tenure, he participated in numerous tactical operations with SEAL Team ONE and TWO. While at SEAL Team TWO, he was attached to the training cadre as the Leading Petty Officer of Land, Mountain and Arctic Warfare. He also has over 30 years experience in the martial arts, studying such systems as muay thai boxing, Jeet Kune Do, kickboxing, aikido, jujitsu, savate, arnis and karate.
Mack joins series regulars Geoff Desmoulin and Dr. Armand Dorian for season 3. Desmoulin, a biomedical engineer and karate black belt, is in charge of creating and executing all of the various and often intricate tests that are performed and subsequently entered into the show's computer system. Dorian analyzes the lethal potential of each attack on the human body and discusses the type of medical treatments which were available at the time to treat such wounds.
"Deadliest Warrior" is produced by 44 Blue Productions, Inc. with Rasha Drachkovitch and Tim Warren serving as executive producers.
The new season will delve deeper into the history of the legendary warriors to create an even more comprehensive composite of these formidable combatants. Season 3 will also expand its scientific exploration of the warriors' weaponry, illustrating its innovation and technology.
"We are confident the innovations to Spike's franchise hit, 'Deadliest Warrior,' will be a big hit with show's ever-growing fan base," said Levy. "The addition of more scientific explanation behind the weapons and the historical context of the warriors will enhance the viewers' experience."
"Deadliest Warrior: The Game" for Xbox LIVE Arcade has been a top-selling title on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, selling over 190,000 units within the first month of its July 14 release.
Also returning for a new season in conjunction with the new episodes will be Spike.com's, original round table discussion series, "Deadliest Warrior - The Aftermath." For Season 2, it continued to be hugely successful, maintaining the online interest between episodes and generating a total of 2.7 million video views. "Deadliest Warrior" also performed well on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, ranking as one of the highest selling TV series on the platform. In fact, since launching in April 2009, over 380,000 "Deadliest Warrior" episodes have been downloaded across various download-to-own platforms (iTunes, Xbox, PSN, etc).
"Deadliest Warrior" show pages on Spike.com attracted a season average of over 227,000 weekly unique visitors. Show-related videos generated over 16.6 million video views during the course of the season.
Along with the use of 21st century science and the latest in CGI technology, the series enlists warrior-specific, world-class fighters and experts to provide insight into what makes these combatants tick, analyzing every facet of their unique skills of destruction, culminating in a head-to-head final fight between two legends of the battlefield that will produce the deadliest warrior. The recent second season featured such iconic warriors such as SWAT, Attila the Hun, Alexander the Great, Aztec Jaguar, Jesse James Gang, Al Capone Gang, Roman Centurion, India's Rajput Warrior, Somali Pirate, KGB and CIA.

Developer Lounge - Bigpoint's Developer Interface Relaunches With Sophisticated New Design
HAMBURG, August 16, 2010--
- Interface Makes Uploading Self-developed Games Even Simpler
- Revenue Shares Significantly Increased to the Benefit of Developers
The 135 million registered Bigpoint users from more than 120 countries
provide a perfect distribution platform for any browser game developers
wishing to professionally release their games. For that reason Bigpoint will
exclusively unveil its redesigned DevLounge (http://devlounge.bigpoint.com)
on August 16th to coincide with the GDC Europe in Cologne. DevLounge is an
interface for integrating external browser games that makes it possible to
upload self-developed games in three simple steps.
Since its launch in May 2009, Bigpoint's DevLounge has undergone a
complete redesign. This includes markedly improved user-friendliness, an
in-house developer wiki, and a new, incredibly comprehensive analysis tool
for developers. The revenue share scheme has also been increased from 30 to
70 percent in favor of developers - just another incentive for using the
interface to upload self-developed games.
The figures speak for themselves: Since its launch in May 2009, DevLounge
has already seen more than 50 games uploaded via the interface - including
top titles such as Runescape. By the end of the year, that figure will have
risen to around 100 games. The latest browser games released via DevLounge
include the strategy and conquest game Venetians, and the fantasy game
Tanadu.
"The redesign of DevLounge reflects our wish to give even more talented
game developers the chance to get their games out to a huge gaming community
of more than 135 million users," says Bigpoint's CMO Lothar Eckstein.
