NetDimensions to Launch an Innovative Portable LMS Solution at ASTD 2010
HONG KONG, May 13 -- NetDimensions (London Stock Exchange, AIM: NETD), a global provider of performance, knowledge and learning management systems, will launch a groundbreaking portable LMS solution called Mobile EKP (mEKP) at ASTD 2010 International Conference & Exposition in Chicago next week.
mEKP will enable users to review course materials, run courses, take exams and review documents, as well as review exam and training history information from any computer with a USB port at their convenience.
"mEKP is a simplified version of the Enterprise Knowledge Platform (EKP), running independently from a USB flash drive," states Ray Ruff, Chief Information Officer at NetDimensions.
EKP is NetDimensions' robust and multilingual LMS used by more than 800 organizations with over 8 million users worldwide.
"We expect mEKP to revolutionize training delivery to learners in organizations around the world. It will enable them to deliver compliance training, certification assessments and secure/private content to a much wider audience than ever before," notes Ruff.
mEKP is designed for organizations with staff who are out in the field most of the time or work in remote offices and have limited or restricted Internet connectivity, such as sales people, first responders, sailors, pilots and military personnel. Additionally, it resolves the problem of delivering very high-bandwidth requirement materials (e.g., gigabytes of video/flash/simulation) in a timely manner.
"Users do not have to install anything. All they have to do is plug in a mEKP flash drive into any computer with a USB port and launch the LMS," adds Ruff.
Attendees at ASTD 2010 can get hands-on experience with mEKP by visiting NetDimensions at booth number 510 from May 17-19.
A Truly Portable LMS
mEKP can intelligently manage user information while offline and communicate with a master EKP system to synchronize user information when an Internet connection is available.
"mEKP is a much more powerful tool than offline players," Ruff explains.
"As a portable e-learning environment, mEKP can support all courseware and exam detail delivery, career development review, and direct resources access. It also has the same security options and permissions settings of a master EKP system and can support encryption of flash drive content."

Lawmakers Call for Expanded Broadband to Boost Commerce, Create Jobs
WASHINGTON, May 12 -- As private industry and federal regulators look to expand high-speed Internet access, small business owners told Members of Congress today that widely available and affordable broadband service can help small firms increase productivity, compete in the global marketplace and create badly needed jobs. During a hearing of the House Committee on Small Business, entrepreneurs and lawmakers said that bringing broadband service to unserved and underserved areas is a vital infrastructure challenge for the 21st century.
"Like the interstate highway system, building a national broadband network has the potential to revolutionize American commerce," said Rep. Nydia M. Velazquez (D-NY), the Chairwoman of the House Committee on Small Business. "Deploying broadband now will create tens of thousands of jobs immediately, while opening up economic opportunity in communities across the nation for the long term."
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which was signed into law in February of 2009, allocated $7.2 billion for broadband deployment. During today's hearing, lawmakers discussed those programs as well as the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) recently released National Broadband Plan. Developed by the FCC, the Plan sets a 10-year goal of helping at least 100 million homes access affordable, ultra high-speed Internet service. It also calls for a public-private partnership to support digital literacy training for small businesses. Lawmakers said achieving those goals would help entrepreneurs find new ways to sell their products.
"Three quarters of small businesses have a website, but only one in four sell their products through e-commerce. In today's global economy that's just not good enough," said Velazquez. "The Broadband Plan holds the potential to narrow that gap, helping small firms reach new markets with their products."
The hearing also examined the importance of an open Internet to entrepreneurship. The FCC recently put forth a framework aimed at ensuring consumers can choose the products and applications they want on the Internet. Lawmakers noted that for small businesses to harness broadband to its full potential, the Internet would need to remain a forum where new ideas can freely develop.
"The freedom for customers to connect with whomever they want gives businesses, large and small, the chance to compete in a fair marketplace," said Velazquez. "Our nation's Internet policies should help consumers remain in the driver's seat, while encouraging infrastructure investment and innovation."
Last October, the Committee held a hearing examining how Recovery Act funding was helping to roll out broadband services. During today's hearing, Velazquez said she and her colleagues would continue pressing to ensure the nation's technology policies take into account entrepreneurs' needs.
Video of the hearing is available by clicking here.

Valve is one of the biggest publishers to throw its support around non-Windows operating systems. Today, they've released the Steam client for Mac OSX. In the coming months, Linux will be fully supported. I believe we'll hit some type of critical mass for Linux support and Valve is doing a great thing in supporting the free (as in freedom) OS.
Steam is a double-edged sword. It is a DRM system (albeit, one of the better ones) which means that I really don't like it that much. DRM takes freedom away from the consumer. We'll see what happens in the future with Steam on Linux.
Hey Blizzard, are you listening? Starcraft 2 for Linux NOW!

Ford and U-M Use Socially Connected Road Trip to Debut Car as Next Platform for Cloud Computing
ANN ARBOR, Mich., May 12 -- -- Ford's American Journey 2.0 research project concludes with first-ever
social media-connected road trip from Ann Arbor, Mich., to Maker Faire
in San Mateo, Calif.; Ford engineers, University of Michigan (U-M)
students demonstrate first-ever auto-centric cloud-based apps
-- Ford-developed apps include "Auto"matic Blog, which will allow the
car, known as "@AJtheFiesta," to periodically tweet its interpretation
of the journey based on vehicle telemetrics; another app will
automatically check-in the team via Foursquare at stops and
points-of-interest
-- The road trip involves stops at three major universities; each serves
as part of a larger Ford effort to excite potential customers while
showing tangible proof of the company's commitment to leading the
convergence of the automobile and Internet through open innovation
Two Ford Fiestas will leave the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor on May 13, and though the cars may be separate, they will be linked to each other and to the entire global community in ways that mark a new era in mobile connectivity.
Embarking upon a week-long road trip to Maker Faire, Silicon Valley's annual ideas festival, the Fiestas and their occupants will be serving as messengers from Ford announcing the arrival of the car as a technology platform.
"The car is the ultimate mobile device," claims Venkatesh Prasad, group and technical leader of the Infotronics team in Ford Research & Advanced Engineering. "Ford has led the convergence of the auto and consumer electronics industries, and now we're researching how to responsibly and safely harness the Internet to enhance drivers' time behind the wheel."
In one Fiesta, the team from Ford Research & Advanced Engineering (R&AE) and IT - T.J. Giuli, Joe Rork, Joe Ross and Tom Alexander - will be demonstrating three experimental apps, known as Virtual Road Rally, "Auto"matic Blog and Local Search, developed on top of Ford's application development platform built on Windows 7 and Microsoft Robotics.
In the second Fiesta, U-M computer science students Collin Hockey, John Ciccone, and Joe Phillips and School of Information student Sangmi Park will be using Caravan Track, an app they developed as part of a 12-week course called Cloud Computing in the Commute. Ford initiated the course to challenge students to develop social networking personal transportation apps. Caravan Track was judged the most compelling, out of six creative apps presented at the conclusion of the course, winning the students a trip to California with Ford engineers. (Read more about the U-M student apps here.)
"We believe this is the first time vehicles will be socially connected through the Internet during a cross-country trip," said Giuli, Ford research engineer. "All the apps - from Caravan Track to the Virtual Road Rally, and particularly the notion of the car automatically posting its mood and location - really explore new boundaries in the use of digital tools to expand social links."
The road trip will signal the culmination of a yearlong Ford initiative called American Journey 2.0, a joint open innovation research project, supported by Microsoft and Intel, offering a group of U-M students a chance to define the future in-car experience.
About the Ford apps
The Ford team will be using three apps developed within the
company's connected vehicle labs.
-- Virtual Road Rally allows users to define points-of-
interest (POIs) or physical landmarks, similar to those found
in a road rally. The app can take the form of a "treasure
hunt," revealing information about various POIs as drivers
reach them.
It can also serve as a competitive drive app, allowing users to
post various parameters for a specific drive. For example, a
user could post the amount of fuel they used driving from A to
B, and challengers would attempt to best that mileage. The app
uses a Web-based component to allow users to upload rally
points and challenge parameters, as well as post their
individual results.
Road Rally users could also create rallies focusing on their
own towns, allowing drivers who may never have visited a
particular place to learn more about landmarks and POIs. Such
a feature would let drivers share their favorite drives and
provide small towns and "off the beaten path" locations a new
way to attract visitors to unique places.
--"Auto"matic Blog attempts to elevate the car to its rightful
standing as an equal member of the team, providing it with a
personality and way to communicate its mood. The car itself,
dubbed @AJtheFiesta, will automatically blog or tweet
statements about the journey based on information it gathers
from various vehicle data sensors or engine computer codes.
"For example, if one assumes that a happy car is one that's
zipping along an open road or negotiating tight curves,"
explains Giuli, "the powertrain sensors - engine rpm, speed,
steering inputs, g-loads, that sort of thing - can indicate
to the car that it's in one of those fun situations, and the
car can then indicate that with a tweet or blog post.
Similarly, if it's at zero mph with the wipers on, the car
might decide it's sitting in traffic in the rain and send a
sad tweet. Either way, we wanted to allow the car to become a
blogger."
AJ will also be able to indicate via GPS trace the roads on
which it's driving when it feels certain ways, and the system
will also allow it to take a photo to show other drivers - and
perhaps, someday, other cars - the conditions that trigger its
opinions.
-- Local Search uses a built-in social media component via
the social networking app Foursquare. Each time the vehicle
makes a stop, it will check in with Foursquare to identify the
location, and it can also search for nearby restaurants, gas
stations and parks.
Technology meets tradition
The Ford connected road trip is an outreach to two key demographics who will help shape the future of Ford vehicles: Fiesta buyers, largely expected to be connected young Millennials like the U-M students and the crowds expected to greet them during their university stops; and budding app developers interested in the future of software development and mobile platforms. At the same time, the journey hopes to harness the power of social networks and cloud computing to introduce a new twist to the great American road trip.
"The challenges faced by the students are representative of what the new era of developers will face as they begin programming the Internet-on-wheels, and what a new generation of customers will want from this technology," said Prasad. "We are creating tools for this new generation and we are learning as much as we can, while adapting to seeing things through the eyes of up-and-coming programmers."
A project like American Journey 2.0, involving teamwork with university students followed by hands-on testing, represents a significant developmental shift for Ford. The company is actively looking toward innovation hubs like universities and Silicon Valley to learn the best ways to deliver relevant and personalized content tailored for the individual driver's unique in-car experience.
"These collaborations are also valuable to Ford and our development ecosystem in the long term," added Prasad. "If we're going to lead in shaping tomorrow's world-on-wheels, we need a top talent pool from which to draw, and we need to be a catalyst to the entire value chain."
At the road trip's final destination, Maker Faire in San Mateo, Calif., May 22, the U-M students and Ford engineers will have the chance to share their work with global leaders in technology development.
"Maker Faire is where technology enthusiasts gather to see new projects and I know they'll be excited to think about the car as a technology platform and the new applications that can be built," said Dale Dougherty, editor and publisher of MAKE Magazine and Founder of Maker Faire.
"This event is demonstrating that we at Ford do not view cars and trucks as just vehicles but as platforms for development," Giuli said. "Whether someone at Maker Faire is a car enthusiast or a techie or a programmer, we're inviting them to come interact with the vehicle and help us shape the future."

Daniel Tosh is Back With More Internet Epic Fails, Web Redemptions and Fan Challenges as the Second Season of 'Tosh.0' Continues With 16 New Episodes Beginning on Wednesday, June 2 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT
NEW YORK, May 12 -- Merciless host Daniel Tosh is back to expose and skewer the endless array of ridiculousness on the Internet. Currently in its second season, "Tosh.0," the weekly, topical, hit series returns with 16 new episodes starting on Wednesday, June 2 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT.
The "Web Redemption" segment to kick it all off on Wednesday, June 2 is Lightning Bolt Larper. Brendon Boucher, famous for casting his lightning bolt spell on the Internet, is brought to Los Angeles to recreate his famous larping video on "Tosh.0," accentuated with special effects.
Future "Web Redemption" segments include:
-- World of Warcraft Freak Out: Tosh tries to determine if the WoW freak
out video was real or fake. He interrogates Stephen and his family in
his pursuit of the truth.
-- Angry Preacher: Don Vincent, the foul-mouthed public access preacher,
visits a monastery with Tosh and learns how to speak to his audience
more effectively. He delivers the ultimate gangsta sermon in a
pimped-out church.
-- Worst Comedian Ever: Darryl Bluett, christened the "worst comedian
ever" by the Internet, comes to Los Angeles and is trained by Tosh and
a select few to become a better comedian. He just has to not be the
"worst comedian ever" to be redeemed. He tries out different comedy
styles and then makes a surprise appearance on a legendary talk show.
-- Zombie Kid Likes Turtles: Tosh gives the "I like turtles" kid the
turtle day of his life and sets the stage for him to make perfect
sense with his iconic phrase.
-- What What in the Butt: Through various interviews, learn the story
behind Samwell's Internet video, "What What In the Butt." Then stay
tuned as he performs an "unplugged" version of the song with a rock
star.
The second season of "Tosh.0" is averaging 1.8 million total viewers and is the most watched show in its timeslot among Men 18-24 and Men 18-34. Since the first season, ratings have enjoyed a meteoric rise in the following demos: Persons 18-49: +83%; Men 18-34 +85%; Men 18-24 +84%.

The blog will continue to be updated daily with blog posts, Web-exclusive behind-the-scenes content and interactive features allowing viewers to participate in the "Tosh.0" community. Currently, the blog is rolling out four themed mash-up videos featuring choice moments from earlier "Tosh.0" episodes. Viewers can follow Tosh on Twitter as he live tweets during the show and also by becoming a fan of "Tosh.0" on Facebook.
"Tosh.0" premiered on June 4, 2009 and features the razor sharp humor and biting commentary from comedian Daniel Tosh and delves into all aspects of the Internet from the absolutely absurd to the incredibly ingenious in this weekly, topical series. The series also features viral clips of the week and original videos created by and starring well-known actors and comedians. Each episode features the segment "Web Redemption," which gives subjects of infamous viral videos (i.e. Phillies Fan and Make It Snow Girl) a second chance to redeem themselves from the embarrassment with which they've become synonymous.
Tosh inked a multi-level deal with COMEDY CENTRAL to shoot an original one-hour stand-up special in San Francisco on Saturday, June 12 which will premiere on Sunday, October 3 to be subsequently released with extended material on DVD and CD on Tuesday, October 5. He will also embark on a national stand-up tour which will kick-off in the fall. Recently, the network announced the renewal of "Tosh.0" for a third season which will consist of at least 29 episodes and premiere on Wednesday, January 12 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT.
Tosh has a long history with COMEDY CENTRAL having hosted the network's "Live at Gotham" stand-up series and performed on "Premium Blend" and "Friday Night Stand-Up." Tosh has also been featured on the all-comedy channel in a half-hour stand-up special "COMEDY CENTRAL Presents..." (2002) and on his first hour-long stand-up special, "Completely Serious" (2007). His premiere CD, "True Stories I Made Up," was released in 2005 through COMEDY CENTRAL Records.
"Tosh.0" is executive produced by Tosh and Charlie Siskel. Gary Mann is the executive in charge of production for COMEDY CENTRAL.

Tyco Electronics' New PolyZen Device Addresses USB Suspend Mode Power-Consumption Requirements
Integrated Device Helps Provide Overvoltage, Overcurrent and ESD Protection on USB Controllers and USB-Compliant Devices
MENLO PARK, Calif., May 12 -- Tyco Electronics today introduced the PolyZen(TM) ZEN059V130A24LS device. The integrated device helps provide complete circuit protection for electronics with USB ports and meets Suspend Mode power-consumption requirements for USB 3.0.
A major advantage of the USB 3.0 specification is the increased operating current it allows devices to consume (900mA vs 500mA in USB 2.0). As more and more mobile devices adopt the USB port as the primary charging interface, the need for higher charging current has increased, and shorter charge time has become an important consideration. Mobile devices are not always charging when connected to the USB port; in fact, they may spend the majority of time in the Standby or Suspend Mode. A device's Suspend Mode power-consumption characteristic can be a major circuit protection design issue. A USB device designed to support Suspend Mode operation is limited to 2.5mA average current draw. Any circuit protection solution, CMOS or other, must operate within this boundary.
PolyZen devices are polymer-enhanced Zener diodes that help provide coordinated protection against damage caused by overvoltage, overcurrent and ESD transients in a single package. The new PolyZen ZEN059V130A24LS device combines high power-absorption capabilities with low Vz (Zener voltage) and low power-consumption. Due to the device's polymer thermal-protection architecture, it is able to absorb high-energy pulses and effectively block overvoltage and reverse bias sources that could ultimately damage a stand-alone Zener diode. With a Vz below 6 volts, it helps protect sensitive downstream electronics, and its low 5V power consumption meets USB 3.0 Suspend Mode requirements.
For USB 3.0 devices, the PolyZen device can be placed on the USB input port, the Powered-B plug, and/or, where applicable, any supplementary power port. The PolyZen device offers designers the simplicity of a high-power clamping diode while obviating the need for significant heat sinking. Its embedded "time delayed" overvoltage lockout and overcurrent switching help protect against the use of improper power supplies, reverse bias sources and negative voltages as well as damage caused by overcurrent conditions, ESD transients, inductive spikes and other overvoltage events. It can also help manufacturers reduce warranty costs and improve the reliability of portable electronics such as:
-- Mobile Phones and Handhelds
-- Personal Navigation Devices (PNDs
-- MP3 and CD Players
-- DVD and Blu-Ray Disc Players
-- Digital Still Cameras and Video Camcorders
-- USB 3.0 Hubs and Adapter Cards
-- Printers and Scanners
-- Solid-State Devices (SSDs)
-- External Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) and Mass Storage Devices
-- Laptop and Desktop PCs
"The PolyZen ZEN059V130A24LS device helps reduce design cost with single component placement," said Kedar Bhatawadekar, Technical Marketing and Product Application Engineer. "Its low power-consumption specifically meets the USB 3.0 leakage current during Suspend Mode requirements, and its small form factor accommodates the continuing miniaturization demands of the electronics industry."
Price: $0.66 each; minimum quantity of 3,000
Availability: All devices are available now.
Delivery: 10 weeks ARO

EMC Extends Information Governance to Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010
New EMC SourceOne for Microsoft SharePoint Provides Control, Reduces Costs and Ensures Compliance
BOSTON, May 12 -- EMC World -- EMC Corporation (NYSE:EMC), the world leader in information infrastructure solutions, today announced the new EMC® SourceOne(TM) for Microsoft SharePoint which enables organizations to adopt a proactive information governance strategy for content spread across multiple SharePoint sites and farms. SourceOne for SharePoint delivers operational control, compliance and e-discovery capabilities without impacting SharePoint end-users. As a result, IT departments can reduce costs, improve system scalability and performance and ensure compliance.
SourceOne for SharePoint is the newest addition to EMC SourceOne, a family of modular, integrated products for archiving, compliance and e-discovery that makes information governance actionable. Support for SharePoint 2010 in addition to earlier versions will be immediately available when SourceOne for SharePoint is released at the end of June 2010.
With SourceOne for SharePoint, EMC is delivering a building block approach to help customers address their operational challenges. This includes reducing the costs of managing content in both active and inactive SharePoint sites. As their needs mature, customers can be confident that the right content is managed, retained and disposed off according to internal policies and external regulations.
The EMC SourceOne portfolio of information governance solutions also helps customers simplify e-discovery across multiple content types including those contained in SharePoint. EMC SourceOne eDiscovery - Kazeon allows early case assessment and automates the identification, collection, preservation, processing, analysis and review of content located in a variety of managed and unmanaged sites including SharePoint, Microsoft Exchange, IBM Lotus Domino, desktops, laptops, common Internet file systems (CIFS) and network file systems (NFS), networked attached storage and other content management repositories.
Key Benefits of SourceOne for SharePoint

2012.
-- Almost half of medium, large and very large companies reported that
they have SharePoint 2007. One-third of organizations with SharePoint
provide access to over 90 percent of their employees.
-- Very large companies create 109 SharePoint sites each month.
Total survey participants reported having an average of 213
SharePoint sites currently in existence.
-- 24.7 percent of SharePoint sites were currently inactive or not in
regular use.
-- When asked if SharePoint was capable of addressing their company's
compliance, privacy and security needs, only 28 percent of total
respondents answered affirmatively, and another 31 percent stated
that these needs could be met with certain add-ons.
-- As a percentage of total costs, survey IT participants reported
that SharePoint server software and user licenses (32 percent) as
well as servers and storage (25 percent) accounted for the
greatest proportion of their SharePoint expenses.

EMC Executive Quote
"EMC is committed to enabling our customers to execute on their information governance strategies. With the new SourceOne for SharePoint, we are providing them with a building block approach to address operational and compliance challenges related to SharePoint content without any impact to the end-user experience and value they already enjoy."
- Jeff Bettencourt, Vice President and General Manager of Information Governance, Information Intelligence Group,* a division of EMC
Supporting Quotes
"The incredibly viral nature of SharePoint has brought increased productivity and collaboration to everyone in an organization. But because it is administered by the end-user, IT tends to lose control creating an information governance risk. The EMC SourceOne for SharePoint puts the control back to IT by allowing them to set up policies for retention and disposition thereby freeing up needed storage space and system capacity."
- Laura Dubois, Program Director at IDC
"We have many clients who have adopted and deployed SharePoint. Most of them are experiencing rapid growth in content and are struggling to maintain required performance levels in their SharePoint sites. The value that EMC SourceOne for SharePoint brings is in helping our customers drive down their storage costs while enhancing the performance of SharePoint by off-loading inactive content from the SQL Servers that support it. In addition, our customers can ensure that any content that gets moved out of SharePoint and into a long term archive is being managed according to specific retention policies."
- Mike Alsup, Senior Vice President, Gimmal Group
"For the past year, ICI has had tremendous success, through their information governance assessments, in driving EMC SourceOne deals to help our customers implement the foundation of a sound IT governance strategy within their enterprise. The majority of our customers are either using SharePoint or are beginning to implement it. With the new EMC SourceOne for SharePoint, we are able to continue our IT governance strategy by introducing information governance for SharePoint in our customer conversations. We're extremely excited about this because it opens up additional opportunities for us to increase our business and to help guide our customers' strategy for IT governance."
- Jamie Shepard, Executive Vice President of Technology Solutions, International Computerware Inc., an EMC Velocity partner
Availability and Support
SourceOne for SharePoint will be generally available by the end of June 2010. It will support SharePoint 2010, Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3. EMC SourceOne eDiscovery - Kazeon is generally available today.

MotionTouch Launches Mi-Stylus - Total Touch Screen Precision for iPhone, iPad & iPod Touch
LONDON, May 12, 2010--
- With Photo
MotionTouch, the innovative product design and manufacturing
business, has launched Mi-Stylus - a sleek, lightweight stylus that perfectly
replicates a finger tip, for total touch screen accuracy for the iPhone, iPad
and iPod Touch.
Made of a special composite rubber, the Mi-Stylus slanted nib
imitates the electrical characteristics of the human finger, giving you a
level of touch screen response you cannot find in a rigid-tipped stylus.
Furthermore, the edge of the nib can be used for selecting smaller on-screen
items, which sometimes a finger cannot accurately do.
Using Mi-Stylus keeps your phone display clean and
smudge-free, whilst the sleek, chromed metal barrel design is in keeping with
the stylish, minimalist iPhone look. With its integral clip, the stylus stays
handy and ready for use.
MotionTouch has launched Mi-Stylus in response to the
increasing worldwide popularity of the iPhone, and the demand for a stylus
for use with its capacitive touch screen. The stylus makes a decisive press
on the screen for option buttons, and also provides the correct sensation for
the iPhone to recognize the slide motion used for page changes. MotionTouch
believe Mi-Stylus responds to the increase in iPhone application use and
provides the total on-screen accuracy that these apps demand.
Henry Powell, Client Director at MotionTouch commented, "We
jumped at the opportunity to bring this simple yet effective product to
market. Mi-Stylus provides on-screen precision and accuracy for the iPhone
and iPod Touch and we expect demand to increase with the launch of the iPad."
iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch are registered trademarks of Apple Inc.

Kansys Announces the Event Visibility Platform for the Communications Industry
OLATHE, Kan., May 12 -- Kansys announced today a unique, integrated event management platform providing carriers the ability to mine, associate and leverage event data. Event Visibility Platform (EVP) is provided on a customized, software as a service framework for content, voice and data events.
"EVP is not just a pure business intelligence offering. Our industry platform is integrated with modules that help a carrier make better decisions, but also increase revenue and decrease functional support costs," said Dan Forster, President of Kansys.
The platform is comprised of event centric modules, designed and configured by our professional services, executed using state of the art infrastructure and viewed with reporting tools that support all levels of users. The EVP modules are designed from a content, voice and data perspective while event and revenue assurance are consistent across each domain. Carriers can also utilize other modules such as subscriber behavior, audience measurement, carrier access billing and bandwidth consumption.
"Carriers need more than just event measurement. They are looking for consolidated functionality, process optimization and predictive analytics about their customers and the events they create. They need these abilities without being captive to high capital expenditures and labor intensive data preparation processes," said Brian Preston, VP of Account Services at Kansys.
"Event visibility and assurance requires a rock solid event process foundation layer," added Preston. "Audit and validation functionality is only attainable with managed file and event stream processing."
Visibility into costs, revenues and customer relationships requires the correlation of event data with other systems such as accounting, engineering, billing, marketing, finance, sales, customer service, etc. This requires both the right data staging and an infrastructure that can process massive amounts of complex data from multiple sources.
Deployment of the solution is on a phased and pragmatic basis. As Dan Forster has said throughout the history of Kansys, "If the solutions we provided were easy, we wouldn't be in business."
Established in 1997, Kansys is a consulting, system integration and business process outsourcing company focused on communication service providers. Kansys provides solutions that extend the value of industry applications and has extensive experience in managing large volumes of complicated B/OSS data.

Microsoft Delivers the Future of Productivity With Office 2010 and SharePoint 2010
New products and cloud services available to businesses today.
NEW YORK, May 12 -- Today, Microsoft Corp. announced the worldwide availability of Microsoft Office 2010 and Microsoft SharePoint 2010, as well as Microsoft Visio 2010 and Microsoft Project 2010, for business customers worldwide. More than 90 million businesses can now deploy the 2010 suite of products, and customers can expect to see significant productivity gains and greater return on their software investments.
"Office 2010 and SharePoint 2010 define the future of productivity," said Stephen Elop, president, Microsoft Business Division. "With the 2010 set of products, organizations will save, innovate and grow as their people benefit from working across the PC, phone and browser."
A commissioned study conducted by Forrester Consulting, "The Total Economic Impact(TM) of Implementing Microsoft's Integrated Office Productivity Platform," May 2010,(1) evaluated the 2010 releases of Office, SharePoint, Exchange and Office Communications Server 2007 R2. The Forrester TEI model employs four fundamental elements including costs, benefits to the entire organization, flexibility and risk. Based on the customer interviews, Forrester constructed a TEI framework for a composite organization and found the ROI to be 301 percent with a payback period of 7.4 months after deployment. The study also found that the composite organization would see more than $13 million in savings over a three-year period and on average, a savings of more than two work weeks per year.
Microsoft's Office 2010 and SharePoint 2010 beta programs were the largest ever, with three times the number of participants compared with the Office 2007 beta program. As a result, 8.6 million people are already using Office 2010 and related products. In addition, more than 1,000 partners are already building solutions for the 2010 set of products.
"We evaluated a number of competitive options in our recent technology assessment, and chose Microsoft Office 2010 as our new desktop productivity standard," said Mark Mastrianni, manager, global technology licensing and acquisition for GE. "This platform will continue to position GE on the leading edge of technology and provide a clear road map that supports our business priorities in the coming years. Office 2010's familiar, easy-to-use interface -- coupled with its new tools that will enable better collaboration and drive improved efficiency and productivity for our employees and customers -- made this selection the right decision for our company."
Productivity Solutions Across the PC, Phone and Browser
With a familiar productivity experience across the PC, phone and browser,(2) Office 2010 and related products deliver new capabilities to help people:
-- Connect and collaborate with co-authoring in Microsoft Word, Microsoft
PowerPoint and Microsoft OneNote; advanced e-mail management and
calendaring capabilities in Microsoft Outlook; and the addition of the
new Microsoft Outlook Social Connector, which brings communication
history and social network feeds directly into Outlook.
-- Work virtually anywhere with Microsoft Office Web Apps, the online
companions to Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel and OneNote. Along
with easy access to documents from virtually anywhere, Web Apps help
preserve the look and feel of a document regardless of device, so
content and format are generally preserved while moving between the
PC, phone and browser. Effective today, Office Mobile 2010 will be
available for free via Windows® Phone Marketplace for all Windows
Mobile 6.5 phones with a previous version of Office Mobile. People
using Office Mobile 2010 can perform lightweight editing of Office
documents and take notes on the go. With Office Mobile, people can
work with Office documents stored on their phone, attached to an
e-mail, and can browse, edit, and update documents stored on a
Microsoft SharePoint 2010 site. SharePoint intranet sites and
communities also help people collaborate, regardless of location.
-- Help bring ideas to life with video, text and image editing, new
broadcast capabilities in PowerPoint, auto-previewing in Word, easy
document preparation through the new Microsoft Office Backstage view,
and new Sparklines in Excel for precise trend and data visualization.
-- Quickly access data to make real-time decisions using the business
intelligence capabilities in familiar Office applications that
transform everyday work data into valuable information.
Flexible Cloud Solutions
Microsoft's signature productivity technologies are available in the cloud, (3) offering unprecedented choice and flexibility for IT departments when purchasing and deploying solutions.
Office Web Apps will now be available to all Office volume licensing customers. In addition, customers will be able to purchase a subscription to Office Web Apps as part of Microsoft Online Services, Microsoft's cloud-based applications.
With more than 40 million paying customers on Microsoft Online Services, businesses are embracing Microsoft's vision for the cloud. New customers including Kraft Foods, Novartis International and Codelco, the largest mining company in the world, are choosing Microsoft Online Services for its ability to delight end users while delivering enterprise-grade capabilities, security and flexibility.
"We chose Microsoft Online Services for our collaboration applications in the cloud for our 100,000 employees around the world," said Leon V. Schumacher, Group CIO of Novartis. "It will enable our large research and development population to better collaborate to innovate. We can trust Microsoft to provide the enterprise capabilities our company requires to further improve personal productivity and collaboration among our associates so we can focus on our core mission -- improving the lives of patients worldwide."
Developer and Partner Opportunities
SharePoint 2010 delivers the business collaboration platform for the enterprise and Internet, enabling developers to rapidly respond to business needs with custom applications and solutions.
SharePoint 2010 delivers on the promise of flexible deployment options: Use Sandboxed Solutions to limit code central processing unit time, Microsoft SQL Server execution time, and exception handling. Plus, use these same technologies to deploy custom code to SharePoint Online.
Through design integration with Visual Studio 2010, developers can use familiar application development tools to create, package and debug SharePoint solutions. It also includes rich application programming interfaces and support for Open XML, Microsoft Silverlight, Representational State Transfer (REST) and Language-Integrated Query (LINQ), which help developers build applications quickly. Developers can also build applications that connect to line-of-business data, use custom workflows, and provide business intelligence data and dashboards to an entire organization.
The SharePoint integration services opportunity for Microsoft partners and developers today is $5.6 billion and is expected to grow to $6.7 billion in 2011, according to Microsoft data.

Dubai Internet City Backs Middle East Digital Marketing Event
DUBAI, May 12, 2010-- There is no doubt that digital marketing has emerged as the new channel
for brands in the Middle East to increase their market share. The industry
received a boost this week with TECOM Investments' Dubai Internet City
confirming official support of Click 4.0 - the Digital Marketing Event for
the Middle East. Part of Dubai Internet City's support includes a subsidized
rate of participation which TECOM Investments' registered companies are
exclusively eligible for.
With a rich 4-year history of providing digital marketers a platform to
air their concerns and shortfalls as well as potential solutions to taking
the market forward, Click 4.0 will on the 21st of June this year provide a
new level of learning never before seen in similar events.
"The dynamics of the marketing industry are very different from others,
wherein things change overnight," says Elizabeth Ricciardelli, Director of
Click 4.0. "A simple example is Facebook, which added 100 million users in 9
months. For marketers to adapt their branding plans within such a short
time-frame is now common practice and this is why it is so important to have
the right tools, knowledge and adaptability in your day-to-day marketing
operations. Click 4.0 is bringing together the leaders in their field but
that's only part of the package. We're offering a platform of never-before
seen interactivity. I can't reveal everything here but suffice it to say that
Dubai Internet City's support is evidence of the government's increased
support of key events which influence business positively in the UAE and the
region."
Among the key issues up for discussion at Click 4.0 will be tracking and
metrics, transparency, case studies by Jumeirah Group and Burger King, SEO
for Sales, the death and re-birth of print media and the new age Muslims
market. It is sponsored by Yahoo!, Ikoo, Nielsen and Mediastow, Click 4.0.

The company has launched Diebold Fire Detection Solutions and Services, a service delivering fire detection hardware, software, monitoring and services to facilities nationwide.
The new offering will enable Diebold to deliver integrated fire and burglar protection to end users in a variety of markets. The integration of these services can result in increased operational efficiencies, greater consistency, reduced monitoring costs and even savings on insurance premiums for customers.
"Our customer base has been encouraging us to introduce these solutions and services," said Bradley J. Stephenson, vice president, security solutions, Diebold. "They want to engage one partner for both burglary and fire, and they want that partner to be Diebold. We believe fire is a critical element of a holistic approach to security. Genre-Bending Exclusive Game Pairs Unlikely Duo in Monstrous Adventure
EDISON, N.J., May 12 -- Majesco Entertainment Company (NASDAQ:COOL), an innovative provider of video games for the mass market, today announced Monster Tale for Nintendo DS(TM) in collaboration with developer DreamRift. Developed by the key leads behind the critically acclaimed Henry Hatsworth and the Puzzling Adventure, Monster Tale (previously known as Project Monster), mixes platform game play on the top screen with a deep pet-raising game on the Touch Screen to create a dynamic, one-of-a-kind adventure. The heroes of this intriguing tale are little Ellie and a mysterious young monster named Chomp who together set out to reclaim the Monster World from the Kid Kings and their enslaved creature pets.
"Monster Tale defies traditional gaming genres and brings a truly unique play mechanic to Nintendo DS(TM)," said Gui Karyo, EVP Operations, Majesco. "We believe this accessible tale of friendship offers the kind of depth and challenge that players of all ages and skill sets will enjoy."
Players control both Ellie and Chomp as they explore and battle through five non-linear kingdoms in the Monster World, including the Wicked Treehouse, Monster Express Train, Ancient Ruins and Monster Nightclub. The Touch Screen serves as Chomp's Pet Sanctuary where he evolves with new abilities as he eats and plays with what Ellie provides from the top screen or buys for him in the store. But when Ellie needs some brute force or protective defense, she can summon Chomp to the top screen to back her up in her quest to save the Monster World. As Chomp gains new attributes he can evolve into approximately 30 unique forms with new attacks, shields, bombs and even the ability to transform into useful objects. Together Ellie and Chomp will take on scores of baddies that threaten to end their Monster Tale mid-adventure.

Jabra and Mogreet Tell World About Perils of 'Cellbow'
First International, Multi-Lingual Video Mobile Marketing Program Launches, Educating Mobile Phone Users Around Globe About the Cellbow Pandemic
LOS ANGELES and NASHUA, N.H., May 12 -- Jabra, the world leader in innovative headset and speakerphone solutions, and Mogreet, Inc., a leader in mobile video marketing, have partnered to create a ground-breaking, international Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS)-based mobile video marketing campaign. The campaign was designed to create awareness and interest in "Cellbow," or cubital tunnel syndrome, a medical condition resulting from excessive cell phone use without a proper hands-free device.
Consumers are invited to visit GotCellbow.com, a campaign microsite that features a humorous, tongue-in-cheek video about how cell phone users have been contracting elbow pains and injuries while talking on their phones and cradling the device in awkward positions. The video, which showcases how "two hands are better than one" and the benefits of wearing a Bluetooth headset, has already been translated into 8 languages and shared virally in those respective countries including French, German, Italian, Russian, Japanese and Chinese. Consumers can also enter to win an international sweepstakes by passing the video onto a "friend in need of help" via e-card or mobile greeting.
GotCellbow.com is the first-ever trans-Atlantic mobile video marketing campaign created. Using Mogreet's MMS messaging platform, consumers are able to share the Cellbow video with friends and family in the U.S., Canada and U.K., as well as via Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and other social networks. This is the first instance of a mobile video (MMS) campaign launching simultaneously across multiple countries and over thirty-five wireless carriers including AT&T, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, and Sprint.
"The Cellbow campaign is our creative response to a real, growing issue facing many consumers," said Dorthe Larsen, head of marketing, mobile division at GN Netcom. "The shift from technology use to abuse is a fine line -- though most cases can be cured through behavioral changes. Take computer eye strain or gamer's thumb, for example. As technology afflictions become more prevalent in our lives, creative public awareness campaigns with real, actionable solutions are needed."
"Mogreet is incredibly pleased to be part of this campaign -- the first of its kind. As mobile messaging is the new language for how the world communicates, Jabra has recognized and executed a campaign that enables them to reach their customers anytime, anywhere through a viral mobile video," said James Citron, CEO of Mogreet. "Furthermore, Jabra has recognized that they can implement a campaign with wit, humor, and appeal to consumers across multiple regions."
Through its Jabra brand, GN Netcom is a world leader in innovative headset solutions. With around 850 employees and sales offices around the world, GN Netcom develops, manufactures and markets a broad range of wireless headsets and in-car speakerphones for mobile users and both wireless and corded headsets for contact center and office-based users. GN Netcom's business activities also include its original equipment manufacturing (OEM) business. GN Netcom is a subsidiary of GN Store Nord A/S.
About Mogreet, Inc.
Mogreet is the world's first mobile video marketing platform, enabling marketers to combine the expressiveness of video with the ubiquity of text messaging to create the most effective way to communicate to over 200-million mobile phones across all major carriers in the United States, with additional reach into Canada and the UK. Founded in 2006, the company has raised $7 million USD in venture capital from Ascend Venture Group, Black Diamond Ventures, DFJ Frontier and Spyglass Ventures. Mogreet is headquartered in Venice, California.
