Motorola device shipments now exceed two million; demand indicative of continued global momentum for WiMAX
LAS VEGAS, March 23 -- CTIA WIRELESS 2010 -- The Networks business of Motorola, Inc. (NYSE:MOT), the worldwide leader in developing and deploying WiMAX 802.16e networks and consumer devices, today announced it has shipped more than two million WiMAX devices, including customer premises equipment (CPE) and dongles. This milestone occurred in February 2010 - just five months after Motorola shipped its one millionth device in September 2009.
"These are impressive numbers by any measure, particularly since we've exceeded the pace of WiMAX device shipments we achieved last year when Motorola doubled its WiMAX device shipments in just six months," said Bruce Brda, senior vice president, Motorola Networks. "The continued demand for WiMAX devices and infrastructure is a testament to the traction WiMAX is gaining as it delivers the personal media experiences people want, regardless of where they are."
Since hitting the two million device shipment milestone, Motorola has also received a significant order from AXTEL for additional CPE units. AXTEL contracted with Motorola in 2008 for a WiMAX network to deploy high-speed wireless broadband across Mexico and now offers fixed WiMAX service with plans to offer nomadic WiMAX service to its customers eventually.
"With Motorola's WiMAX network and devices, we've been able to give our customers unprecedented access to their data, friends, information and entertainment, whether at home or on the go," said Ivan Alonso, Innovation and Technology executive director, AXTEL.
Momentum for WiMAX continues to grow around the world. "At the end of 2009, WiMAX service providers were covering more than 621 million people," said Ron Resnick, president and chairman of the WiMAX Forum®. "Based on that estimate and the traction we're seeing in the market, the WiMAX Forum now forecasts that by 2011, there will be more than one billion people across the world within WiMAX coverage."
Motorola now has 40 WiMAX contracts with operators worldwide. The business cases and usage models are as varied as the geographies they serve. Some operators are using a wholesale model, others are bridging the digital divide and providing connectivity where there was none, and still others are bringing "on the go" connectivity to commuters on mass transit trains. As product innovation continues and the ecosystem of WiMAX-embedded devices continues to grow, operators are finding more possibilities and ways to monetize their investment to profitably launch WiMAX services.

Plixer will offer live demos of Scrutinizer 7.5 at the Winvale booth #2516 throughout the FOSE event, March 23-25 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Plixer recently worked with Winvale to secure a GSA schedule, which makes Plixer's industry-leading network traffic monitoring and diagnostic solutions infinitely more accessible to government agencies. Plixer representatives will be on hand to discuss how Scrutinizer can help agencies ensure efficient network data flow to ward off crippling network failures, even across disparate facilities with varying bandwidth allocations.
"Government IT professionals face the same requirements and challenges as the private sector in terms of maximizing network uptime and optimizing data throughput to prevent bottlenecks," said Tom Cote, director of business development at Plixer International. "We look forward to showcasing how Scrutinizer can help government IT managers gain better visibility into network activity."
Scrutinizer 7.5 delivers the most comprehensive network-wide monitoring and reporting solution to enable the effective and efficient management of network traffic over NetFlow, sFlow, Netstream, jFlow, and other protocols. Scrutinizer analyzes and reports on top applications, conversations, flows, protocols, domains and geographic parameters across dozens of routers and switches. Motorola Introduces New Power-Packed, Fourth-Generation WiMAX CPEi 825 for Voice and Data
New CPE delivers greater uplink performance while lowering operator capital and operating expenses
LAS VEGAS, March 23 -- CTIA WIRELESS 2010 -- The Networks business of Motorola, Inc. (NYSE:MOT), the worldwide leader in developing and deploying WiMAX 802.16e networks, today announced the latest WiMAX device added to its extensive portfolio of customer premises equipment (CPE) and USB dongles.
The new CPEi 825 wireless broadband modem supports data and voice with an integrated voice over IP (VoIP) port. It builds upon the functionality of earlier CPEs in the portfolio to deliver improved uplink performance, network operations, management and self diagnostics, meaning a better experience for customers and decreased expense for operators due to the unit's remote management capability.
The CPEi 825 also features multiple input/multiple output (MIMO) functionality, a highly sensitive receiver, omni-directional performance, high-power output and high-gain polarized antennas with switched transmit diversity. These factors stretch the service level areas of the network, improve cell-edge performance, reduce uplink overhead on the access points and increase uplink efficiency, which is the limiting factor in most WiMAX network deployments. Together, these factors improve the end-user experience and enhance the overall site capacity.

Novatel Wireless Launches NovaDrive Cloud-Based Storage Service
MiFi Customers Gain Access to Unlimited Storage, 256 bit Encryption and Remote Wipe if Lost or Stolen
LAS VEGAS, March 23 -- International CTIA Wireless 2010 (1506, Central Hall 3) - Novatel Wireless, Inc., (NASDAQ:NVTL) a leading provider of wireless broadband solutions, today announced the launch of NovaDrive(TM) powered by Nomadesk technology, a MiFi(TM) Trusted Partner. NovaDrive gives Novatel Wireless MiFi Intelligent Mobile Hotspot customers, as well as other mobile broadband users, the ability to share, synchronize, encrypt, back-up and store files to access from any laptop or web-based, hand-held mobile device. Novatel customers can download a free 30-day trial of NovaDrive at http://www.NovaDrive.net.
The MiFi platform represents the industry's first Intelligent Mobile Hotspot, a new product category for mobile broadband that lets users put their world of content, services and connectivity in their pocket. Unlike existing router solutions that require an external broadband USB modem and serve only to provide connectivity, the MiFi platform creates a personal cloud of high-speed Internet connectivity that can be easily shared between multiple users and up to five Wi-Fi devices such as laptops, tablets, cameras, gaming devices and multimedia players.
NovaDrive gives mobile users increased access to their data from any location, while providing an extra layer of security and unlimited storage.* With this launch, Novatel Wireless will offer existing MiFi customers and other broadband users a free downloadable NovaDrive account at http://www.NovaDrive.net. Customers can sign-up to receive a personal file server with unlimited capacity, and all the other NovaDrive features, for approximately $50 per year, or a business file server, which provides unlimited storage and collaboration with an unlimited number of team members, for $15 per month. For added protection, NovaDrive also supports TheftGuard(TM) technology, where users can shred or restore data remotely in the event of theft and they can even locate the mobile device using GoogleMaps.
"This offering will provide our existing MiFi community, and other potential MiFi users, with premier cloud storage services seen in the market today," said Rob Hadley, CMO, Novatel Wireless, Inc. "We are very happy to bring to market a cloud-based solution with unlimited storage capacity, 256-bit encryption, and added security service to store and share photos, videos, presentations and documents through any mobile device. We look forward to expanding this offering quickly to support the MiFi local storage which allows seamless access and synchronization to the SD removable storage on MiFi to and from the cloud."
Millions of people risk losing their unprotected, critical data every day. As the amount of unprotected data stored on multiple devices increases, it becomes harder to synchronize and easier to lose. Keeping data secure, synchronized, backed up and available can be expensive and require in-house IT expertise. When customers are working on the road, NovaDrive allows individuals and business teams to secure, sync, share and backup data with no limits or change in behavior. NovaDrive acts just like a hard drive, storing important documents in one place with remote access. Users simply drag and drop their docs into the mobile file server, and files are immediately encrypted, backed up and available for file sharing.

Ceragon Unveils Wireless Backhaul Solutions for All-Indoor and All-Outdoor Environments at CTIA Wireless
New Solutions Offer Best-in-Class Spectral Efficiency and Unmatched System Gain, Saving Space and Reducing Equipment Costs
TEL AVIV, Israel, March 23 -- Ceragon Networks Ltd. (Nasdaq and TASE: CRNT), the provider of high-capacity, LTE/4G-ready wireless backhaul networks, today announced that it will launch two new solutions at CTIA Wireless, March 23-25, in Las Vegas. The solutions include the multi-unit FibeAir IP-10 All-Indoor Compact for North American operators, and the FibeAir Outdoor Enclosure, a multi-unit solution for pole-mount, wall, or roof-top installation.
Both platforms allow operators to significantly increase capacity and networking performance in nodal applications, enabling operators to gain cost benefits through best-in-class spectral efficiency and unmatched system gain. This not only enables higher network availability and longer link-spans, it also allows the use of smaller antennas, further reducing equipment cost, rent and tower loads.
The new Ceragon solutions are ideal for pure-IP applications as well for migrating legacy networks to IP using a single hardware design, as the solutions support the entire Ceragon FibeAir product line for IP/Ethernet and Native2 (native IP/native TDM) transmission.
Please visit Ceragon at CTIA Wireless, Booth #2932.
"When deploying backhaul networks you need a complete set of tools in order to cope with a variety of installation scenarios. These include long haul and rural applications, where networking equipment is located in indoor environments, to short haul applications where there is no legacy infrastructure and the networking equipment must be installed outdoors," said Ira Palti, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ceragon. "The two new solutions we're announcing at CTIA Wireless will allow operators in North America and around the world to benefit from the same advanced feature-set of our trusted FibeAir platforms, while eliminating the need to deal with a host of 'real-estate' issues. But most important, operators reduce rental, maintenance and operational costs."
Key Facts / Highlights:
Ceragon's FibeAir IP-10 All-Indoor Compact Enclosure:
-- Combines all radio components for 1+0/1+1/2+0 configurations in a
single, compact casing allowing for simple integration and
maintenance.
-- Allows operators to deploy high-capacity, long-haul microwave systems
in locations where rack space and shelter real-estate are limited.
-- Offers seamless migration from TDM to IP. Remotely configurable
solution enables smooth transition to pure-IP networks.

wireless backhaul networks.
-- Fully compliant with US NEBS standards
Ceragon's FibeAir Outdoor Enclosure:
-- Allows operators to set up complete wireless backhaul networks in
all-outdoor environments using a multi-unit design that is ideal for
any pole-mount, wall or roof-top installation. The new solution is
best suited for base station sites in which adding indoor equipment is
either impossible or prohibitively expensive.
-- Helps to minimize logistics, reduce floor space and decrease rental
costs, as the fully weather proof solution allows for speedy
introduction of microwave backhaul under any climate conditions. It
requires zero additional footprint at the central office or in a
communications room, and helps to significantly reduce power
consumption, maintenance and operational expenditures.
-- The solution complies with NEBS, FCC and European electrical,
environmental and safety standards as well as with IP-55 certification
for water and dust proofing.
-- Offers versatile deployment scenarios including protected Ethernet and
TDM rings, complex nodal configurations and radio schemes, such as

New Online Workforce Saves Businesses Time & Money
CloudCrowd Revolutionizes Crowdsourcing
SAN FRANCISCO, March 23 -- CloudCrowd, a new crowdsourcing solution, is saving businesses time and money with its revolutionary Labor-as-a-Service platform. By using the Internet to tap into vast pools of talent and creativity, CloudCrowd is helping companies reduce overhead, increase efficiency, and lower costs by breaking large projects into smaller tasks, and distributing them to its virtual workforce.
According to CloudCrowd's CEO, Alex Edelstein, "First generation crowdsourcing solutions only offered a limited range of feasible tasks, and they required too much management and delivered poor work quality. CloudCrowd is the next generation of crowdsourcing because it can handle much more complex tasks. Plus it's fast, accurate, and very reliable."
Working closely with their clients, CloudCrowd's team of project managers and developers manage every step, from creating the most efficient way to get tasks done to delivering the finished work. The company distributes tasks to its online registered workers at CloudCrowd Workspace. Each does a portion of a client's project, allowing tasks to be completed much more quickly than they would be done in-house, or even with traditional outsourcing.
CloudCrowd's sophisticated credibility framework runs the task results through a proprietary reputation management process to ensure the accuracy of the finished work. CloudCrowd currently has more than 10,000 workers. Each earns their own Credibility Rating which determines the types of tasks they are offered. Workers are able to see how much each separate task pays, and earnings are distributed through PayPal. CloudCrowd has already posted more than 60,000 individual tasks in a single day.
Many types of complex tasks are possible, including content creation, content moderation, internet research, audio and video transcription, foreign language translations, image categorization, data entry, and data processing. Dozens of industries will benefit from CloudCrowd's reliable time and money-saving solutions, including Retailing, Wholesaling, Distribution, Publishing, Technology, Advertising, Market/Consumer Research, Social Media, Education, and many others.
CloudCrowd is a privately held company based in San Francisco, California that is committed to providing fast and reliable on-demand Labor-as-a-Service business solutions. Founded in 2009, CloudCrowd was started by experienced visionaries from breakthrough technology pioneers including Microsoft, Netscape, Inktomi, Napster, and Cloudmark.

Beceem Launches New 4G-WiMAX Chip with Unprecedented Performance Capabilities
BCSx350 Represents Most Advanced 4G-WiMAX Platform Ever Designed
LAS VEGAS, March 23 -- CTIA -- Beceem Communications, the leading provider of 4G chips, announced today the availability of its BCSx350 chip, the company's sixth-generation WiMAX chip. The BCSx350 includes a patented "Twin-Turbo" dual transmit uplink technology that provides up to 6dB of performance gain compared to traditional Wave 2 uplink technology, and represents the most advanced 4G-WiMAX platform ever designed.
"Performance and market leadership are the hallmarks of our 4G products," said Lars Johnsson, vice president of marketing and business development for Beceem Communications. "We continue to invest heavily in improving the performance of WiMAX networks and devices, and our new BCSx350 chip is by far the most capable 4G-WiMAX chip given its further increased uplink performance and continuously reduced power consumption."
The BCSx350 4G-WiMAX chip employs leading-edge MIMO decoder technology and interference-cancellation algorithms that can increase the downlink performance at both high- and lowsignal strength to improve throughput and hand-off performance.
The BCSx350 includes additional enhancements to Beceem's industry-leading 4G-Turbo uplink technology and raises the peak performance gains by up to 6dB compared to traditional Wave 2 uplink technology when transmitting simultaneously through 2 transmitters. The "Twin Turbo" technology supports peakpower transmit diversity to exploit channel diversity, true uplink beamforming for linkbudget gains in weak signal conditions and uplink spatial multiplexing for throughput increases in rich-scatter environments.
The BCSx350 comes in two models: the BCSM350 for mobile/embedded devices and BCS5350 for high-performance, low-cost CPE (customer premise equipment) that simultaneously support Data, Voice and WiFi on a single chip. The BSCx350 started sampling to customers in January of 2010 and is expected to go into mass production in Q2/2010.

Usability Sciences Corporation Launches WebIQ Pharma - An Intelligent Survey Tool That Allows Pharma Sites to Measure and Improve Website Effectiveness
IRVING, Texas, March 23 -- Usability Sciences Corporation launches its WebIQ Pharma offering, an intelligent survey solution that provides pharmaceutical sites with metrics to answer critical questions about site and content effectiveness, to increase return on investment (ROI). Usability Sciences has provided usability and user experience research to Merck (MRK), Eli Lilly (LLY), Novartis (NVS) and Ortho McNeil for over ten years.
Pharmaceutical brands build websites primarily to drive drug adoption. The brands want site visitors who have never tried the drug to make appointments with their doctors to discuss the drug. The brands want visitors who have been prescribed the drug to keep taking it and get their prescriptions refilled. Most importantly, the brands need to know which content areas drive the desired behaviors and which content areas do not. Establishing the link between visitor response to the site and the content that determined their response has heretofore been extremely difficult. WebIQ Pharma makes it simple and, compared to the labor-intensive alternatives, extremely cost effective.
"WebIQ Pharma employs intelligent survey technology and intelligent dashboards in delivering this patented solution," said Usability Sciences President Jeff Schueler. "The intelligent survey technology allows the brand to ask questions of site visitors based on where they went on the site and what content they saw. WebIQ Pharma dashboards, rather than deliver more 'dumb' data, provide answers to the site's key business questions."
Usability Sciences developed the methodology specifically for the pharmaceutical industry, where brand sites often carry high costs but generate relatively low traffic. WebIQ Pharma arms the brand with a continuous stream of answers to drug adoption questions and allows them to constantly improve site stickiness, conversion, and ROI. WebIQ Pharma is flexible and can be customized to fit any brand's needs and preferences in terms of options and pricing.
With more than 20 years of experience in the usability and user experience arena, Usability Sciences has developed an industry-leading portfolio of research methodologies that delivers robust and actionable results to its Fortune 500 client base.
