Raytheon Awarded $152 Million for Patriot Engineering Services
TEWKSBURY, Mass., March 9, 2010 -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) was awarded a $152.4 million contract modification to provide engineering services for the Patriot Air and Missile Defense System.
This contract from the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command, Redstone Arsenal, Ala., is the second of four annual modifications to the original 2009 baseline contract for Patriot engineering services. Under the contract, Raytheon will continue to provide the latest upgrades and system capabilities through systems analysis, software and hardware engineering, and testing and logistics support to both U.S. and international Patriot customers.

NFL Mobile Kicks Off With Verizon Wireless in April
BASKING RIDGE, N.J., and NEW YORK, March 9 -- The National Football League (NFL) has joined forces with Verizon Wireless, the owner and operator of the nation's most reliable wireless network, to provide fans with the deepest NFL experience on their mobile phones, it was announced today. The new four-year agreement for NFL Mobile kicks off next month with coverage of the 2010 NFL Draft to be held from April 22-24 and continues with the NFL's regular season.
Verizon Wireless, which also becomes the NFL's official wireless service sponsor, will provide fans with unprecedented access to America's favorite sport regardless of whether they are in the stands, at home, or on the go.
Among the programming that will be available for the first time during the regular season will be the wildly popular NFL RedZone channel from the NFL Network, which airs live look-ins of every key play and touchdown from Sunday afternoon games. Fans also will be able to watch live streaming of NBC's Sunday Night Football and NFL Network's Thursday Night Football. In addition, fans will receive the NFL Network channel, which airs seven days a week, 24 hours a day on a year-round basis, and is the only network fully dedicated to the NFL and the sport of football.

EAST SYRACUSE, N.Y., March 9 -- Sensis Corporation unveiled the latest version of Aerobahn®, its airport surface management system, at ATC Global in Amsterdam today. Aerobahn Version 5 features increased map and view customization as well as new reporting and event threshold alerting functionality that will enable airlines, airport operators and Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSP) to facilitate effective Collaborative Decision-Making (CDM) initiatives. As a result, users can collectively make better real-time decisions for fewer delays, reduced emissions and an improved flying experience.

Sensis Aerobahn combines airside operational information, such as flight schedules, with the exact location and identification of aircraft on the surface of the airport for a real-time, comprehensive view of surface operations. Users can also set Aerobahn to provide a visual alert when performance thresholds, such as taxi-out times, are met or exceeded. For irregular operations, such as bad weather, users have better situational awareness of aircraft location and the elapsed time of specific events, such as deicing operations. Aerobahn Version 5 has several new features and enhancements:

annotations to the airport map to visually indicate events, such as
construction and closed runways, which directly affects airport
performance. There is also a "picture-in-picture" feature that enables
users to simultaneously view the entire airport and a region of
specific interest.
-- User-created Reports: users can build their own reports based on
numerous variables using drag-and-drop pivot tables. Reports can be
saved and shared among users and exported to be used in standard
spreadsheet programs.
-- Additional Event Alerting Options: users can define and assign
multiple alerting thresholds, down to the minute. For example, a
flight can be set to blink orange after one hour on the tarmac and
then turn red after two hours. This enables users to see potential
problems sooner and take corrective action. Aerobahn Version 5 also
features region-based alerting where an alert is generated when an
aircraft has occupied a selected region of the airport for longer than
the configured number of minutes.

Harris Corporation and Jotron Team to Pursue $200 Million Next-Gen FAA Radio System Contract

AMSTERDAM, March 9 -- (ATC Global, Booth #400) -- Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) and Jotron AS have teamed up to pursue an anticipated five-year, $200 million Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) contract for next-generation radios that will support the agency's future air/ground communications needs.
Harris, an international communications and information technology company, has a long history of developing and integrating system solutions for the FAA and the global air traffic control network. Jotron has a 40-year history of supplying aviation and maritime radios and communications systems around the world.
The companies are competing for Phase 2 of the FAA's Next Generation Air-to-Ground Communications System (NEXCOM) initiative. The FAA is seeking commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS), very high frequency (VHF) and ultra high frequency (UHF) radios for voice communications between FAA facilities and aircraft in the terminal and flight services environments.
Harris and Jotron worked together to optimize the design of the Jotron 7000 Series multi-mode digital radio to meet FAA specifications, and also to provide additional benefits with Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and Internet Protocol (IP) transmission. In addition to helping the FAA reduce overall procurement cost, the design of the 7000 Series radio also will reduce logistics costs by providing a single source for both UHF and VHF radios. The radios will be manufactured at Harris facilities in Malabar, Florida.

Sears Helps Alaska Residents With Disabilities Access up to $500 in Rebates on ENERGY STAR(R)-Qualified Appliances

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill., March 9 -- The Sears Blue Appliance Crew(TM) is helping Alaska residents with disabilities access the $658,000 in rebates available for ENERGY STAR®-qualified appliances from March 16 until funds are depleted, as part of the "Cash for Appliances" rebate program. As the 2010 ENERGY STAR Retail Partner of the Year, Sears has created online tools, including an interactive map and energy savings rebate calculator at Sears.com/energystar, which will help Alaska residents manage the rebate process and find all the stimulus rebates they qualify for under the state's program guidelines. The Sears site will also display all ENERGY STAR products that qualify for rebates so customers can quickly and easily identify models that are available for in-store purchase.
"At Sears, we're always looking for ways to make it easier and more affordable for Americans to swap out their old, inefficient appliances for new, ENERGY STAR models," said Doug Moore, president of Home Appliances for Sears. "This rebate money will go quickly, so we encourage our customers in Alaska to take advantage of the stimulus plan as early as possible to ensure access to the state funds."
Under the U.S. Department of Energy-approved appliance rebate plan for Alaska, the state program is limited to Alaskans who currently receive some form of disability payment from the state or federal government. Furthermore, participants in Alaska are encouraged to recycle their old appliances and will need to self-certify that the old appliance is being replaced and will be disposed of in accordance with local, state and federal requirements.
Alaska residents with disabilities purchasing ENERGY STAR-qualified appliances as part of the "Cash for Appliances" program are eligible for rebates from $150 to $500(I), with a maximum of one product per customer. Rebates vary and may be higher in some rural areas due to shipping costs. (According to the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation, which is managing the program, a rural community is defined as one not served by road or the Alaska Marine Highway at least once per week). Qualified applicants will receive a voucher from the State of Alaska to take advantage of the following rebates:
-- $150 - $300 for clothes washers
-- $150 - $300 for dishwashers
-- $300 - $500 for refrigerators
-- $300 - $500 for freezers

Through the RAD(II) program, the Sears Home Delivery Haul Away Service provides removal of one old, inefficient appliance for each new appliance purchased and delivered. Once the old appliance is removed, Sears and its partners ensure that the disposal process takes place in an environmentally friendly manner to avoid the discarding of appliances in landfills. Many of the components of the old appliance are then recycled.
