More Than Seven-in-Ten Workers Age 60+ Are Putting Off Retirement Due to Financial Restraints, According to a New CareerBuilder Survey
--Career Expert Offers Tips on How to Survive Delaying Retirement--
CHICAGO, March 3 -- The economy continues to change the retirement timeline for many mature workers, leaving them with tough decisions about their futures. More than seven-in-ten (72 percent) workers over the age of 60 who said they are putting off their retirement are doing so because they can't afford to retire financially, according to a new survey by CareerBuilder. When comparing genders, the survey found that three-quarters (76 percent) of female workers over the age of 60 who said they are putting off retirement are doing so because they can't afford it, while 68 percent of males said the same. The survey was conducted among more than 700 U.S. workers age 60+ between November 5 and November 23, 2009.
Financial reasons are not the only grounds for postponing retirement for workers over the age of 60. Other reasons cited among those putting off retirement include:
-- Either enjoy their job or enjoy where they work and don't want to
leave it (71 percent)
-- Plan to stay because they need the health insurance and additional
benefits provided (50 percent)
-- Fear retirement may just be boring (24 percent)
-- Enjoy feeling needed (15 percent)
"The economy continues to cast doubt in the minds of mature workers regarding executing on their future retirement plans. As a result, they are requesting to stay with employers a bit longer," said Jason Ferrara, senior career adviser at CareerBuilder. "Twenty-seven percent of hiring managers say they were approached about postponing retirements last year and were open to retaining mature workers. The key is to let your employer know sooner than later that you would like to put off your plans to leave."
PrimeCB.com, CareerBuilder's job site for mature workers, offers tips for those workers who may be planning to postpone retirement:
Talk to your HR department - Keep an open and honest dialogue with your company as soon as you decide what to do about your retirement. HR can be a good resource if you are having trouble mapping out your future.
Be open minded - Your employer may have been working around a pre-determined date you set. Therefore, deciding abruptly that you want to stay in the same job may not be in the cards. Talk to supervisors and if you have already been replaced on one assignment, determine what other projects may be a good fit for you.
Network. Network. Network. - While you try to figure out if you can stay with your current employer, it is in your best interest to network socially and professionally to see if anyone knows of any other positions for which you should apply. If your goal is to have a job, your network may be able to help you find a new one.
Mentor inside and outside your company - One of your greatest assets is your experience level and intellectual capital. Leverage this knowledge as a mentor to show your worth to your current employer and those you may work for in the future.

Travel Channel Accelerates Production With Isilon IQ
Leading International Broadcaster of Travel-themed Content Partners with Boxer Systems to Deploy Isilon Scale-out NAS, Reducing Production Workload by 30 Percent
SEATTLE, March 3 -- Isilon® Systems (NASDAQ:ISLN) today announced that Travel Channel, the leading international travel broadcaster, has deployed Isilon scale-out NAS as the primary storage solution for its new file-based production, scheduling and distribution workflow. Using Isilon IQ, featuring its OneFS® operating system, Travel Channel has unified content from more than 30,000 tapes onto a single, high-performance, highly scalable shared pool of storage, streamlining data access to reduce its production workload by 30 percent.
"The complexity and scope of our content caused us to waste a lot of time with physical tapes, while the switch to a file-based environment provided us with clear financial and creative advantages," said Matt Westrup, head of operations, Travel Channel. "Boxer was instrumental in the deployment process and now our massive content library is available on-demand. With Isilon, we've expanded our operations into new areas such as video on-demand and Internet TV, which would have been extremely costly with our old workflow."
Working closely with Boxer Systems, Travel Channel has deployed a file-based production, management and distribution system featuring Apple's Final Cut Pro 7 editing tools, Phoenix 7's Zeus media management platform, and transcoding and ingest technology from Telestream. The new unified environment uses Isilon scale-out NAS to power multiple editing suites and viewing stations, increasing data access, availability and reliability.
By deploying Isilon IQ, Travel Channel has unified content from its 30,000 tape media library onto a central repository capable of scaling performance and capacity on-demand to meet intense performance and data growth demands. With Isilon scale-out NAS, Travel Channel has eliminated the need to locate, duplicate and ingest media from its tape library, reducing its production staff's workload by 30 percent and enabling them to focus their efforts on producing more content faster, and with higher quality.
"We selected the Isilon solution instead of a SAN as it provided us with several clear advantages in terms of compatibility, performance and reliability," added Westrup. "The solution requires minimal management and our data is always 100 percent available."
"As leading media companies look to increase productivity and reduce costs, they need leading-edge technologies that create seamless, end-to-end solutions," said Mark Stevens, VP and general manager for EMEA, Isilon Systems. "Travel Channel is at the forefront of this shift and its use of Isilon IQ to unify the entire production workflow is indicative of the productivity and cost-saving benefits our solutions deliver."

AT&T Investment in Florida Network Aimed at Enhancing Mobile Broadband Service Across the State
Plans Call for Addition of More Than 65 New Cell Sites and the Expansion of Backhaul to Increase Wireless Network Capacity
MIAMI, March 3 -- AT&T* today unveiled its Florida wireless network investment plans for 2010, which include the addition of more than 65 new cell sites and the upgrade of nearly 200 additional cell sites to 3G throughout the state.
The planned wireless network enhancement strategy is part of AT&T's 2010 wireline and wireless capital investment, which is expected to be in the $18 billion to $19 billion range companywide, an increase of between 5 and 10 percent over 2009. This planned amount also includes an increase of about $2 billion in capital expenditures for wireless and backhaul related to AT&T's wireless network. This planned level of investment is framed by the expectation that regulatory and legislative decisions relating to the telecom sector will continue to be sensitive to investment.
"Investment in the state's broadband networks is critical to keeping Florida competitive and providing our citizens with the best technology," said Senate President-Designate Mike Haridopolos. "Expanding and enhancing the mobile broadband network extends the benefits of broadband access to many consumers who are relying more and more on wireless technology to access the Internet."
Today's announcement builds on AT&T's 2009 wireless investment, during which it added 65 new cell sites in Florida and upgraded nearly 250 existing sites to 3G. From 2007 through 2009, AT&T's total capital investment in its Florida wireless and wireline networks was nearly $2.8 billion. From 2007 through 2009, AT&T's wireless network investment in Florida was more than $550 million.
"By advancing public policy that encourages companies like AT&T to invest in our state, the Florida legislature and Governor Crist are providing the leadership that will keep Florida competitive," said Marshall Criser, III, AT&T president, Florida. "This investment translates into good jobs, the tools to succeed in the global marketplace and a rising quality of life for all Floridians."
Internet usage growth has brought tremendous benefits for consumers, but requires tremendous investments in infrastructure. This significant investment in infrastructure and jobs is possible due to policy that enables companies to compete and offer the innovative services that consumers are increasingly demanding. AT&T has been working with policy makers to support a national broadband plan that enables broadband adoption and ensures broadband access to every American by 2014.
Wireless data traffic on the AT&T network has grown more than 5,000 percent over the past three years, largely attributed to today's advanced smartphones that are generating dramatically increasing volumes of network traffic. In fact, roughly 40 percent of AT&T's postpaid customer base uses a smartphone today, representing twice the number of smartphone customers than any other U.S. provider.
AT&T recently completed a software upgrade at 3G cell sites nationwide that prepares the nation's fastest 3G network for even faster speeds. The deployment of High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA) 7.2 technology is the first of multiple initiatives in AT&T's network enhancement strategy designed to provide customers with an enhanced mobile broadband experience, both today and well into the future.
Faster 3G speeds are scheduled to become available this year and in 2011 as AT&T combines the new technology with our second initiative to dramatically increase the number of high-speed backhaul connections to cell sites, primarily with fiber-optic connections, adding capacity from cell sites to the AT&T backbone network.
The backhaul upgrades are also a key step in the evolution toward next-generation LTE mobile broadband technology. AT&T is designing its new backhaul deployments to accommodate both faster 3G and future LTE deployments. AT&T currently plans to begin trials of LTE technology this year, and to begin LTE deployment in 2011, matching industry time lines for broader availability of compelling devices and supporting network equipment.
AT&T's 3G mobile broadband network is based on the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) family of technologies that includes GSM and UMTS, the most open and widely used wireless network platforms in the world. AT&T offers 3G data roaming in more than 115 countries, as well as voice calling in more than 220 countries. The technology also provides customers the ability to talk and surf the Internet at the same time.
AT&T is also an industry leader in Wi-Fi with the nation's largest Wi-Fi network, which complements its wired broadband and wireless 3G networks, offering Wi-Fi connectivity in more than 20,000 U.S. hotspots -- including retail stores and restaurants from coast-to-coast. A full list of AT&T Wi-Fi locations is available at http://www.attwifi.com.

Percello to Demonstrate Unmatched Performance of PRC6100 at Femtocell Asia
SoC with Integrated DDR Increases Security While Reducing Overall Cost and Size
RA'ANANA, Israel, March 3 -- Percello Ltd., an Israeli fabless semiconductor company developing highly integrated and low-cost digital baseband processors for UMTS and LTE femtocells, will demonstrate the unmatched performance of its PRC6100, the industry's most integrated digital baseband system on a chip (SoC) for residential use, at Femtocell Asia 2010, March 8-9, 2010. The newest member of the Percello Aquilo(TM) femtocell SoC product line, the PRC6100 enables femtocell vendors to reduce cost, size and power of femtocells while ensuring security.
The PRC6100 maximizes digital integration on a single chip to deliver the lowest cost and greatest security available for an HSPA+ femtocell. The chip contains high speed MIPS24Kc CPU, peripherals, femtocell L1 engine (FLE) and embedded DDR memory. As a result, it does not require any external memory or digital parts on a four layer printed circuit board (PCB). The PRC6100 is compliant with 3GPP HNB specs. It supports at least eight users and offers HSPA+ data rates of 21.6 Mbps downstream and 5.76 Mbps upstream.
"The PRC6100 enables carriers to deploy HSPA+ femtocells that are smaller and cost much less than $100," said Yoav Volloch, vice president of Product Management at Percello. "In addition, the PRC6100 introduces new security standards for femtocell with its integrated DDRs."
Samples of the PRC6100 are available.

HANNOVER, Germany, March 3 -- Huntkey took its line-up products and gave audiences a great show at CeBIT this year. "Providing customers with safe, stable, and functional products is Huntkey's aim," Alva Li, Huntkey Global Marketing Manager said. This year, Huntkey has stayed true to its mission, with its blue and white fresh design distinguishing it from so many booths. Besides power supply and PC cases, Huntkey has its first consumer products display in CeBIT.
The 80PLUS power supply ranges from 350W to 1200W. All of them have no more than 20% power consumption. The 1200W 80PLUS Gold power supply has no more than 13% power consumption when it is used, which means it is more energy saving, more environmentally friendly and more economical. In addition, the X7 900W certified 80PLUS SILVER again attracts many visitors because it has 900W rated power with better quality but a more competitive price.
As for PC cases, besides the traditional middle-end stable case, Huntkey is also featuring a Mini-ITX case and gamer-looking cases such as the H403 and H202. Both black cool designs meet most DIY users' tastes. Moreover, H202 has a fire-new ventilation design, brilliant LED lighting design and LED display screen. Larger extending room makes it highly attractive to gamers.
As for consumer products, Huntkey showed not only universal "green" notebook adapters and power strips, but also multi-functional chargers. Some of these chargers have USB functions and some of them are made just for the iPad and iPhone. They follows the trends of the "Apple." In terms of power strips, Huntkey has also taken this opportunity to show consumers the highly functional nature of the company's products. Power strips with USB function, smart master-slave control function (automatic power on/off for computer peripherals) and with surge protection for both Net and TV are suitable for home-users.

Autonomy Interwoven's web content management platform contains
all the elements required to deliver a modern, next-generation web
experience, including new capabilities to support global deployments,
leverage rich media, and deliver highly targeted and optimized content. The
new platform includes the following innovations:
Rapidly Rollout a Global Web Presence
- Global Web Presence - the new version of TeamSite provides
dependency management, automatic language detection, and clustering of
conceptually related content. This means new content will always be
accurately and consistently represented in each region.
- Allow Marketers to Create Websites Faster - the new WCM
platform provides marketers with new surf-and-edit capabilities like
keyword shortcuts, fixed area layout and in-line editing for
unsurpassed usability. Additionally, the platform provides seamless
integration with Microsoft Office, such as Outlook for task-based
approval and alerts.
- Streamlined Installation - the platform also provides
streamlined installation and administration capabilities through a
consolidated administration console.
Automatically Deliver Targeted, Dynamic Content to Any Channel
- Agnostic Dynamic Content Delivery - LiveSite delivers
industry-first agnostic content delivery capabilities which allow
marketers to dynamically display content to any display environment,
including portal, Flash, AJAX, and .NET. This is a huge benefit to
today's global organizations, which manage distributed IT environments,
and struggle to deliver relevant, dynamic content to portals, ecommerce
sites, and mobile applications.
- Dynamic Targeting - the platform provides the full spectrum
of implicit and explicit targeting capabilities across all channels,
including web, contact center, and social media. Unlike other marketing
technologies, Autonomy automatically tags and forms a conceptual
understanding of all content, inside and outside a corporation. This
underlying capability allows businesses to instantly deliver more
relevant, targeted content to customers.
- Integrated Ecommerce - the WCM platform provides out-of-the
box capabilities for intelligent recommendations, directed navigation,
merchandising, and advanced search marketing.
- Integrated WCM and Optimization - Autonomy Interwoven is the
only platform that combines WCM and Multivariate Testing in a single
interface. Announced in Q2 of 2009, this combination allows marketers
to quickly make adjustments that lead to proven increases in online
conversions.
Create a Visually Stunning Web Presence
- Intelligent Use of Rich Media Content - the platform
leverages Autonomy Virage MediaBin rich media analytics to obtain a
conceptual understanding of all images or videos, regardless of format
or language. The system automatically tags all content and presents
digital assets through a new rich media interface, allowing marketers
and agency partners to more quickly and easily find and present the
right image, every time.
- Ease-of-Use Enhancements - Virage MediaBin also includes a
new lightweight, browser-based graphics file editor that allows
marketers to edit, resize, crop, and adjust brightness and color of
logos and other images directly on a web page.

Autonomy Delivers New Innovations Across Meaning Based Marketing Platform
Autonomy Reshapes Marketing Landscape with New Analytics Visualization, Self-Service, and Multichannel Optimization Solutions
CAMBRIDGE, England and SAN FRANCISCO, March 3, 2010-- Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader
in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced significant
innovations across the company's Meaning Based Marketing platform - allowing
businesses to understand, act on, and optimize all forms of information.
Based on Autonomy's ability to automatically identify concepts in structured
and unstructured information, Autonomy's Meaning Based Marketing platform is
uniquely enabled to handle the scale, complexity, and speed required to
succeed in the modern era. As a result, marketers are increasingly turning to
Autonomy's end-to-end marketing platform as an engine to engage customers,
capitalize on emerging opportunities, and drive growth and profits for their
businesses.
"As host of CMO CLUB dinners around the world, I hear from
Chief Marketing Officers every day about how their job is becoming more and
more difficult," said Pete Krainik, Founder, The CMO CLUB. "They are
overwhelmed with the exponential growth of new forms of information -
especially social networks and video - and how to bring all this data
together to move quickly on business opportunities and protect their brand.
I'm hearing lots of excitement from club members about Autonomy's Meaning
Based Marketing platform for allowing marketers to see what is really
happening inside and outside their business, act quickly on the information,
and deliver the revenue and customer engagement results they need."
Marketers today enjoy thrilling new opportunities - as well as
significant risks. A new world has opened up for marketers - in the form of
social media, video, and blogs - however businesses still struggle to
identify the useful information amidst the ocean of data generated in these
networks every day. Businesses have invested billions in CRM, business
intelligence, contact center, demographic, and campaign management systems,
but find it challenging to link data between these legacy systems and social
networks in order to act on new opportunities or risks to their business. A
small amount of chatter about a company's product today can yield a sales
bonanza if recognized and acted on quickly, and likewise can turn into a
major reputation hit if overlooked and unmanaged.
Autonomy's Meaning Based Marketing platform is built for the
next-generation of marketers looking to understand, act on, and optimize all
forms of information - linking together internal systems with external data
in order to deliver the most compelling and targeted data to customers across
every channel. Autonomy has delivered several significant innovations,
including new self-service modules, across every part of the company's
integrated, comprehensive platform.
Automatically Understand All Forms of Customer Information
At the core of Autonomy's Meaning Based Marketing platform is
the Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) which allows businesses to
automatically detect, analyze, and act on concepts, allowing computers to see
patterns in information the way people do. This unique technology is based on
hundreds of patents and powers a wide range of applications with over 20,000
customers around the world.
Autonomy has delivered a new console, called Explore, which
provides marketers with a visualization interface to Autonomy IDOL's deep
analytics capabilities. Autonomy Explore provides marketers with the
following:
- A new analytics visualization console, which connects to every
customer touchpoint, including social networks, contact centers, and
the web.
- Discovers patterns, trends, and sentiment across all channels inside
and outside an enterprise.
- Includes out of the box widgets for automatically categorizing and
understanding market trends and clusters of customers.
Automatically Act on Insights to Win Market Share and Manage Reputation
Autonomy provides the most comprehensive platform for allowing
marketers to automatically act on the insight obtained from all customer
touchpoints, whenever and wherever interactions take place. This includes
information from internal systems, like corporate websites, as well as
external sources like social media networks. Autonomy has added significant
enhancements to the company's web content management, rich media management,
and contact center solutions.
Autonomy Interwoven Web Content Management
- Interwoven TeamSite - new dependency management and automatics
language detection capabilities to support global web deployments,
as well as several surf and edit enhancements such as keyword
shortcuts, fixed area layout and in-line editing for unsurpassed
usability. The product also includes new desktop tools to allow
seamless integration with Microsoft Office.
- Interwoven LiveSite - industry-first agnostic content delivery
capabilities which allow marketers to dynamically display content to
any display environment, including portal, Flash, AJAX, and .NET.
The new version of LiveSite also allows marketers to more easily
leverage Autonomy's full spectrum of capabilities, including explicit
and implicit targeting.
- VirageMediaBin - Autonomy's market-leading technology includes new
capabilities that automatically tag and classify any image or video,
regardless of format or language. This allows marketers to more
quickly and easily find the right image through a new rich media
interface, allowing them to deliver more accurate, relevant, and
brand-consistent content to customers.
Autonomy eTalk Contact Center Solutions
- eTalk Qfiniti - provides active "listening" across all customer
interactions - including contact center, website, email, in-store,
and social media. Autonomy etalk's Qfiniti platform for the contact
center provides the most advanced speech analytics of enterprise voice
and chat interactions. Autonomy's IDOL platform provides intelligent
connectors to all forms of data - including unstructured - to bring
back analysis that can be leveraged across an organization.
Automatically Optimize Customer Interactions Across All Customer
Touchpoints
Autonomy's Multichannel Optimization solution combines
meaning-based technology with Autonomy Optimost's multivariate testing
technology to ensure businesses deliver the most compelling combination
targeted content to customers across all channels.
- Autonomy has added an intuitive self-service console to its
Optimost offering, allowing customers to choose between managed
service offerings as well as self-service. The new user interface
includes a marketing dashboard, as well as a new experiment
authoring process.
- Now customers can more easily test and optimize content between
customer touchpoints. For instance, a marketer managing a potentially
damaging product recall can seamlessly test the most effective
message and content across the company's contact center, web, and
in-store channels.
- Optimost Adaptive Targeting provides new analytics capabilities to
mine all major types of customer attributes to create customer
segments, including context (how the visitor arrives at the Website,
e.g. search keyword), geography, time of day, and demographic,
behavior, and account profile information. Once customer segments
are created, multivariate tests are conducted on an unlimited number
of copy ideas, offers, and layouts to determine the best solution
for each audience segment.
Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader
in infrastructure software for the enterprise, spearheads the Meaning Based
Computing movement. IDC recently recognized Autonomy as having the largest
market share and fastest growth in the worldwide search and discovery market.
Autonomy's technology allows computers to harness the full richness of human
information, forming a conceptual and contextual understanding of any piece
of electronic data, including unstructured information, such as text, email,
web pages, voice, or video. Autonomy's software powers the full spectrum of
mission-critical enterprise applications including pan-enterprise search,
customer interaction solutions, information governance, end-to-end
eDiscovery, records management, archiving, business process management, web
content management, web optimization, rich media management and video and
audio analysis.
Autonomy's customer base is comprised of more than 20,000
global companies, law firms and federal agencies including: AOL, BAE Systems,
BBC, Bloomberg, Boeing, Citigroup, Coca Cola, Daimler AG, Deutsche Bank, DLA
Piper, Ericsson, FedEx, Ford, GlaxoSmithKline, Lloyds Banking Group, NASA,
Nestle, the New York Stock Exchange, Reuters, Shell, Tesco, T-Mobile, the
U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the
U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. More than 400 companies OEM Autonomy
technology, including Symantec, Citrix, HP, Novell, Oracle, Sybase and TIBCO.

MINNETONKA, Minn., March 3 -- Digi International (NASDAQ: DGII) today introduced the programmable XBee-PRO(R) ZB, the industry's first foolproof programmable ZigBee(R) module for easy and safe ZigBee application development. Customer applications can be programmed directly on the module, eliminating the need and cost of a separate processor and reducing time-to- market. Because the Digi-provided wireless software is isolated, customers can easily develop applications with no risk to RF performance and security. As part of iDigi(TM), customers can also use the iDigi platform to easily integrate XBee(R) ZigBee endpoints into their systems.

www.CyberDodo.org Launches Game to Fight Sexual Exploitation of Children
MONACO, March 3, 2010-- To explain International Day Against Sexual Exploitation, http://www.CyberDodo.org (an interactive multimedia platform and family-oriented
educational site) is launching an international video game tournament on
March 4, 2010.
Sexual exploitation is one of the most serious acts of aggression that
can be committed against a child - it's a crime! We are talking about child
prostitution for all human beings under the age of 18 who are active in the
sex trade, whether this be forced or voluntarily. Although it is difficult to
obtain exact figures, UNICEF estimates that more than 3 million children are
involved in prostitution throughout the world and that they represent over a
third of all sex workers in Asia.
To let all victims of this hateful industry, which affects rich countries
as well as poor ones, know that they don't have to suffer, and that the
international Convention on the Rights of the Child protects them against all
kinds of abuse, http://www.CyberDodo.org has developed an extensive collection of
free multimedia content (already available in French, English, Spanish and
Arabic) whose originality lies in its ability to capture the interest of the
entire family by offering various formats (cartoons, video games, files,
quizzes, etc.).
CyberDodo is a universal ambassador, unaffiliated with any race, gender,
religion, politics or social level, which broadcasts its message of
protection through the Internet, notably in partnership with the UN's Office
of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and Interpol, who demonstrated
through Operation VICO that identified pedophiles no longer had refuge
anywhere.
The object of the game, according to http://www.CyberDodo.org, is to save
virtual child victims from sexual exploitation. Thus informed, motivated and
convinced, each one of us can take concrete action to fight this scourge.
CyberDodo's slogan is "Because freedom is born of knowledge". A
non-profit initiative, CyberDodo is supported by major international
organizations. To find the press release and links, click here:

internet. With the increasing number of phones and operating systems for
customers to choose from, it is our role to make sure our customer's journey
into this richer mobile multimedia environment is simple and easy," said Yves

and devices, but that customers continue to benefit from a consistent user
experience delivered through Orange Signature services, including a
customized home-screen they trust and recognize, the highest quality network
and secure and simplified billing."
"The Intel Atom processor has been a terrific success in the marketplace
so far," said Doug Fisher, vice president, Software and Services Group and
general manager, Systems Software Division, Intel Corporation. "Combined with
the MeeGo software platform, these PC-like devices will deliver a wealth of
Internet, computing and communications experiences with rich graphics,
multitasking and multimedia capabilities and the best applications

Sybase, Inc. (NYSE: SY), an industry leader in enterprise and mobile
software, and Orange Business Services, a leading global communications
solutions integrator, today announced a partnership to offer innovative
mobile device management as a managed service to enterprises who want to
control their mobile assets. This service is available on any carrier in the
world, many mobile devices and numerous operating systems.
Managed Cloud-Ready Mobility Service
Orange Business Services will leverage Sybase's enterprise device
management platform to help companies tackle the challenge resulting from the
increasing number of mobile workers, devices, applications, and ever-growing
heterogeneity of corporate mobile environments. Orange Business Services will
enable enterprises to consolidate their global mobile assets (devices and SIM
cards), implement a mobile security policy, deploy all mobile applications
and control wireless spending. This device management service is hosted in
the Orange network, with Service Level Objectives, and can be easily accessed
by any enterprise that requires cross-operator, cross-device management and
is scaleable to meet both large mobile fleet demand and bursting usage.
"Security compliance, centralised mobile device control, and application
deployment are major challenges that global enterprises must overcome to
benefit from the 21st century corporate mobility world," said Caroline
Comet-Fraigneau, Head of Mobility Business Unit, Orange Business Services.
"Our cloud-ready approach to mobile device management not only addresses
these issues, but also ensures a positive return on investment by avoiding
heavy CAPEX investment, ensuring a low unit cost per user by sharing our
platform across multiple customers and helping reduce enterprise mobility
costs."
"Security issues, combined with the difficulties of managing the
heterogeneity and complexity of a mobile infrastructure, require a proven and
easy-to-deploy mobile solution," said Nigel Doust, VP of EMEA, Sybase
iAnywhere. "Orange Business Services chose to work with Sybase to offer
device management as a service, providing their enterprise customers with an
instant solution that removes many of the obstacles previously experienced."
In August 2009, IDC found that 40 percent of organisations plan to deploy
a mobile SaaS solution in the next 12-18 months[i]. Many business customers
are struggling to control their mobile costs while trying to empower
end-users to take advantage of mobile applications without compromising
security.
"The managed service model is emerging as a way to effectively meet the
needs of the rapidly growing enterprise mobility market," said Stephen Drake,
Program Vice President for Mobility & Telecom, IDC. "By leveraging Sybase's
mobility solution, Orange Business Services will offer its customers
complete, centralised device management to overcome the complexities of an
increasing mobile information workforce."

Citi Tap and Pay Mobile Payments Pilot Breaks New Ground
Identifies Essentials for Commercial Viability of Mobile Proximity Payments
LONDON, March 3, 2010-- Edgar, Dunn & Company (EDC) a leading independent global financial
services and payments consultancy, today announced the release of its white
paper titled "Citi Tap and Pay mobile NFC proximity payments pilot -
Bengaluru, Results & Findings" that captures its views, perspectives and
conclusions on the Citi Tap and Pay pilot service launched in the city of
Bengaluru in July 2009. With over 3000 customers, 250 merchant locations and
nearly 50,000 purchases made, the recently concluded 26-week pilot is one of
the world's largest and most comprehensive next-generation contactless credit
card payments pilot ever undertaken based on Near Field Communications[1]
technology.
Among some of the noteworthy highlights of the Citi Tap and Pay pilot was
that it reported positive customer feedback on all key fundamentals such as
customer interest, usage and satisfaction. In fact, the service generated
very high growth rates in overall transaction activity resulting in a
significant increase in total spends, which crossed INR 26 Million. Features
such as secure and hassle-free activation and enhancement in transaction
speed scored positively with customers. Merchant Establishments too polled
favourably for the service on its ability to speed-up payments at check-out
counters.
According to the Nielsen Company, the consumer insights partner to the
pilot, customer satisfaction with the Citi Tap and Pay service, as measured
with the proprietary eQTM customer satisfaction index based on over 1740
studies conducted across the world, was ranked in the 'World Class' category.
"This pilot has shown, once and for all, that suitably conceived and
efficiently implemented NFC programmes, can unlock hidden demand for growth
in electronic payments," says Samee Zafar, Director, Edgar Dunn & Company,
who leads the firm's Advanced Payments Consulting practice. "NFC technology
can help achieve a longstanding aspiration that has eluded everyone so far -
migrating cash transactions to electronic means," adds Zafar.
Satish Menon, Executive Vice President, Citi Growth Ventures, said, "The
Citi Tap and Pay pilot has more than validated expectations, with a clear
consumer demand emerging for contactless mobile payments and services during
the pilot. This is an extremely strong endorsement and validates our belief
that mobile payments have the potential to transform the way our highly
mobile, international and increasingly urban customers make everyday
payments. We are also happy that this pilot provides insights which will
prove crucial to getting the customer experience right as we, together with
the industry, bring next-generation mobile financial services to market."
Vijay Ramchandran, Chief Marketing Officer, Citi South Asia, Director,
E-Business & Liabilities, Insurance & Investments, Citi India, said, " The
mobile phone is without doubt the most successful consumer product ever and
our customers' response to this pilot service demonstrates that they expect
to do more of everything through their mobile phone, including payments. We
are especially pleased that Citi Tap and Pay marks a key global milestone in
bringing to reality the convergence of the wallet with the mobile phone. We
will continue to build on Citi's legacy of innovation to add momentum for
quicker and wider adoption of this smart, everyday, everywhere technology."
Conceived by Citi Growth Ventures, and spearheaded by Citibank India, in
collaboration with Nokia, Vodafone, MasterCard and ViVotech, Citi Tap and Pay
offered customers in Bengaluru an opportunity to experience the simplicity,
ease and convenience of using their mobile phone as a credit card. Early
adopters of this technology enjoyed promotional offers such as discounts at
popular merchant establishments across a wide range of categories including
department stores, food courts at shopping malls and office buildings,
restaurants and fast food chains, bookstores and multiplexes.

Xilinx Simplifies Development of Real-time Ethernet Networks for Industrial Automation Applications
New Spartan-6 FPGA Industrial Automation Targeted Design Platform brings high-speed connectivity and real-time processing performance to the factory floor
NUREMBERG, Germany, March 3 -- At Embedded World 2010 today, Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ:XLNX) introduced the first market-specific Targeted Design Platform optimized for industrial automation system design with low-cost, low-power Xilinx® Spartan®-6 field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). The Xilinx Industrial Automation Targeted Design Platform accelerates development of real-time Ethernet networks enabling high-speed connectivity and reliable communications beyond the industrial enterprise to the factory floor.
Industrial equipment developers can now easily integrate multiple Ethernet protocols and custom processing algorithms into industrial network and automation systems using a single Spartan-6 FPGA as a cost-effective, flexible and reprogrammable alternative to application-specific standard product (ASSP) or application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) implementations. The new platform offers a complete development environment tailored specifically for industrial applications, including network gateways or bridges, programmable logic controllers (PLC), machine vision systems, as well as a variety of embedded control systems. Xilinx is showcasing its industrial automation platform at Embedded World 2010 this week in Nuremberg, Germany from March 2nd through March 4th with live application demonstrations in Hall 12, Booth #12-515 at the NurnbergMesse.
"The worldwide market for industrial infrastructure and wireline networking products exceeded 5 million nodes in 2008 and is projected to grow over 10 percent annually through 2013(1). This convergence of automation technologies and ubiquitous industrial networks is being driven by new manufacturing business models, collaborative manufacturing initiatives, and the need for more energy and cost-efficient operations," said Mark Jensen, director of industrial, scientific and medical marketing at Xilinx. "Our Spartan-6 FPGA industrial automation platform provides the flexibility to address the different requirements of factory and enterprise networks and the scalability to develop highly integrated automation equipment while balancing energy efficiency and real-time performance."
Optimizing for Industrial Networking Applications
The Industrial Automation Targeted Design Platform provides next-generation programmable technologies and smart design methodologies delivered in the Spartan-6 FPGA Industrial Ethernet Kit. Jointly developed with Avnet, the Industrial Ethernet Kit is fully integrated and highly scalable with all the hardware and software needed to design industrial communications protocols right out of the box.
The kit includes the Avnet Spartan-6 LX150T FPGA development board and industrial networking daughter card based on the industry-standard FPGA Mezzanine Card (FMC) specification(2), third-party evaluation EtherCAT core from Beckhoff, ISE® Design Suite Embedded Edition software environment, and an EtherCAT Targeted Reference Design. Future add-ons for the Industrial Ethernet Kit will offer additional daughter cards and reference designs to enable faster time to market for designing factory automation applications.
"Avnet is pleased to offer designers a full-featured, versatile development platform that can help with their Industrial Networking applications," said Jim Beneke, vice president of global technical marketing at Avnet Electronics Marketing. "This kit provides a great deal of flexibility and expandability that developers will appreciate as they explore their design options."
EtherCAT Targeted Reference Design
Industrial product developers can leverage the 32-bit MicroBlaze(TM) soft processor, dedicated DSP blocks, and low-power features of Spartan-6 FPGAs to create single-chip systems with hardware-based processing to accelerate network performance and extraordinary computational bandwidth to implement advanced algorithms. Integrated memory controllers, industry-standard interfaces, and power-optimized serial transceivers embedded in the Spartan-6 LX150T device enable single or multiple industrial Ethernet protocol designs that easily support legacy network standards like CAN while providing a bridge to PCIe®-based networks.
The EtherCAT Targeted Reference Design is supplied in either pre-compiled or source format. The design can be used out of the box with the base board and industrial networking daughter card to quickly set-up an EtherCAT slave device for PC-based automation systems. The instantiated EtherCAT protocol can be used to evaluate data characteristics and performance with the Spartan-6 FPGA, and to send and process real-time data between EtherCAT master and slave devices modifying the evaluation version of the EtherCAT soft IP core as needed to accommodate system requirements. (A full version of EtherCAT core can be purchased from Beckhoff directly.) The reference design also provides a streamlined and easy-to-use environment for developers to add their differentiating value into the FPGA design.
Scalable Development Environment
The Spartan-6 FPGA Industrial Ethernet Kit with the Spartan-6 FPGA LX150T base board leverages dual FMC connectors to simplify development of multiple Ethernet and legacy networks. One FMC connector is utilized to integrate the industrial networking daughter card with market-specific interfaces for dual port 10/100 Ethernet (IEEE1588 capable), dual CAN physical layer (PHY), and legacy serial standards (RS-232, RS-485). The second FMC connector can be used to further expand the system with custom modules. This enables embedded hardware and software engineers to evaluate, test, design and integrate industrial Ethernet protocols in silicon earlier than is typically feasible with ASSPs or ASICs, and to easily update systems throughout product development and production with the latest networking standards and proprietary algorithms.
Pricing & Availability
The Spartan-6 FPGA Industrial Ethernet Kit is available today in limited quantities from Xilinx's distribution partner Avnet with general availability in April 2010. The kit is priced at US$1,895 and comes complete with all tools, reference designs, documentation, and cables, needed to get started. thePlatform Unveils New Social Media Player for Professional Video Sites and Content Owners
Enables online audiences of media companies to embed and share premium online video across leading social networks Lets consumers easily share clips or segments of premium video and maintains business relationships between content owners and advertisers Available to customers of thePlatform through Player Development Kit 4.2
SEATTLE and SAN FRANCISCO, March 3 -- At the "TV of Tomorrow Show 2010" today in San Francisco, thePlatform, the leading white-label video publishing company, unveiled a new social media player enabling media companies to embed and share premium online video across leading social networks. In addition, thePlatform's newest Player Development Kit (PDK 4.2) provides standard features that enable consumers to more easily share their favorite clips of premium online video, while preserving the financial obligations between content owners, advertisers and distributors.
"With the right tools in place, media companies can embrace the notion of consumers becoming the best distributors of their video," said Ian Blaine, co-founder and CEO of thePlatform. "With our new Player Development Kit, audiences can clip and share a favorite portion of video with a few simple clicks. Historically, there has been some resistance from traditional media companies to fully empower consumers to share their videos across social networks because of the need to maintain some control over branding and monetization. Our video management system gives them this control. The advertisements can travel with their virally syndicated content, no matter where it has been embedded."
Premium Video Goes Social
Customers who use thePlatform's new PDK 4.2 will be able to place their entire video player experience - with all of its features, add-ins and components - into a single Adobe Flash file for embedding into social networks, blogs, and affiliate sites. Customers can immediately launch video players that are pre-integrated with 10 leading social media sites. Customers can also easily expand to more social media sites by using thePlatform's fully documented APIs. The pre-integrated social media sites include:
Users can also share video with simple e-mail-to-a-friend features, RSS feeds and embeddable links. In addition, thePlatform's Community Toolkit enables consumers to comment, rate, tag and create favorites via their players. For Twitter, thePlatform has added additional features including support for automatically adding hash tags based on the video's metadata and short URLs generation to simplify the experience for consumers.
The new social media player also lets consumers legally share specific sections of a video in a manner that preserves the financial obligations between content owners and advertisers.
"One of the most common types of messages when consumers Tweet or e-mail about an online video is to include a note like, 'Watch what happens at 2 minutes into the video - it's hilarious,'" continued Blaine. "Our new social media player provides a win-win for consumers and our customers. Consumers can embed and share the portion of the video that most interests them, but the content owner maintains the ability to show advertising and keep the integrity of the financial model."
"There's no question that sharing and other social media capabilities are becoming increasingly important features for video players, and that's also true on AP's Online Video Network," said Bill Burke, global director, Online Video Products, Associated Press. "Right now, we're building enhanced players for our 1500-affiliate network, and having these features as a standard part of thePlatform's tool set means faster and less costly player development - a real long-term benefit."
