The four new devices range from 14 to 24 pins and 4 KB to 8 KB of Flash and are the first tinyAVR microcontrollers to feature Core Independent Peripherals (CIPs). "DRIVETHEARC" EV Fast Charging Corridor Breaks Ground In Northern California
From Monterey to Lake Tahoe, 50 New EV Fast Chargers to be Installed at over 20 Locations
SACRAMENTO, Calif., Nov. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --DRIVETHEARC, a corridor of electric vehicle (EV) fast charging stations spanning from Monterey to Lake Tahoe, broke ground today with a ribbon cutting ceremony in El Dorado Hills, Calif. A joint international project promoted by Japan's largest public R&D management organization, the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), under the agreement between NEDO and the State of California Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development, and in partnership with Nissan Motor Co., Nissan North America, Kanematsu and EVgo, DRIVETHEARC aims to increase the ease of long-distance EV travel along one of California's most important travel arteries while studying EV use and driving patterns through a smartphone app that will provide a user-friendly charging experience.
Announced at a press conference alongside the ribbon cutting ceremony at the DRIVETHEARC Station at Raley's in El Dorado Hills, Calif. - which will host four DRIVETHEARC EV fast chargers - dignitaries from NEDO, Nissan, Kanematsu, EVgo and various California state government offices gathered to share details of the fast charging corridor and its potential impact in forwarding EV adoption in California. The project to collect and analyze data will be completed in September 2020, while installation of the 50 fast chargers along the corridor is expected to be completed by March 2017. This will provide drivers with multiple fast charging points per site at the more than 20 high-traffic locations that are part of the project.

An integrated international cooperation, NEDO is funding the DRIVETHEARC corridor as part of its mission to improve energy conservation and promote new energy technologies, as well to help facilitate government relations, research and information exchange between the U.S. and Japan. In partnership with Kanematsu, a DRIVETHEARC smartphone app is also in development and will provide users with key real-time convenience features such as navigation to charging stations within cruising range and will help reduce charge waiting times with charger vacancy information. Captured driving stats will be available to users, and Nissan, Kanematsu, EVgo and NEDO will analyze and measure charger use patterns to better inform future EV charging projects globally.

The app enables EV drivers to monitor the real-time status of the charging stations, select an appropriate station, and charge their EVs using the app's authorization process or conventional payment authorization methods. The EV cruising range feature based on NissanConnect Data Link Service will be available in the spring of 2017.
As the local partner of the project, EVgo is managing the installation of the DRIVETHEARC infrastructure with the deployment of 50 EV fast charging stations at over 20 convenient locations. Fast charging stations are being installed at key high-traffic retail partners along the route to create a true inter-city charging network that will encourage long-distance EV travel in Northern California. The corridor represents the newest addition to EVgo's national network of over 800 EV fast charging stations across 66 markets.

Cadence Modus Test Solution Enables Support for Safety-Critical SoC Designs Using ARM MBIST Interface

To demonstrate the success of the collaboration, Cadence and ARM have completed silicon validation using an ARM Cortex(®)-A73 processor in conjunction with the Modus Test Solution's automatic test pattern generation (ATPG) and diagnostic capabilities.
Through Cadence's support of the ARM MBIST interface, customers can deliver innovative SoC designs to market faster and with better power, performance and area (PPA). For example, the Modus Test Solution provides ARM MBIST interface users with the option for programmable memory built-in self test (PMBIST) to use a single bus to service multiple memories with one MBIST controller. The solution utilizes the ARM MBIST interface to reduce the impact of MBIST on critical timing paths to and from memories in functional operation and for a higher quality at-speed test. Finally, the Modus Test Solution provides a physical-to-logical mapping capability, which reduces the need for manual, error-prone work.

The digital workplace is placing crushing capacity demands on enterprise and SMB networks. Mentor Graphics New Tessent DefectSim Automates Test Coverage Measurement for Mixed-Signal Circuits
WILSONVILLE, Ore., Nov. 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq: MENT) today announced its new Tessent(®) DefectSim(TM) product, that measures the defect coverage of any test applied to an analog or mixed-signal circuit. This capability improves the quality and reliability of analog and mixed-signal circuits through the selection of more effective tests and reduces the cost of test by showing which tests do not increase coverage. Tessent DefectSim satisfies the growing defect-coverage measurement requirement for automotive ICs set by Tier1 automotive suppliers.
Tessent DefectSim works with Mentor's Eldo(®) and Questa(®) ADMS((TM)) circuit simulators to measure the effects of opens, shorts, extreme variations, and user-defined defects modeled within a layout-extracted or schematic netlist. A number of techniques are used to reduce total simulation time by many orders of magnitude, compared to sequential simulation of every defect in a flat layout-extracted netlist, without reducing simulation accuracy or limiting the type of test. Among the techniques is a new statistical method called likelihood-weighted random sampling that minimizes the number of defects to simulate and more accurately indicates outgoing chip quality.
"In mixed-signal automotive ICs, about 80% of the defects found in returned ICs are in the analog circuitry. The quality of analog circuitry is traditionally guaranteed using functional tests while the fault coverage remains unknown. A few years ago, we identified several ways to improve defect coverage of analog tests but the main gap towards improvement was the absence of an automated fault simulation tool," said Wim Dobbelaere, director of test and product engineering at ON Semiconductor. "We had an extensive collaboration with Mentor during the development of Tessent DefectSim. We evaluated the tool on several automotive ICs and concluded it is a highly-automated and flexible solution that guides improvements in test and design-for-test techniques and allows us to measurably improve the defect coverage of analog tests."
"We used DefectSim to investigate a simpler, faster structural test for an analog circuit that we manufacture," said Peter Sarson, test development manager at the division Full Service Foundry, ams AG. "DefectSim showed us that the new test has defect coverage equal to that of our specification-based test, and now we only need to validate the new test in production. This tool paid for itself in one project."
Tessent DefectSim can also measure a circuit's tolerance to defects. Defect tolerance is a measure of a circuit's ability, in the presence of defects, to either continue to operate within acceptable operational limits or to transition into a safe state. This metric is very important in automotive applications as it directly relates to long term reliability.
