Visa cardholders using Android devices to pay for in-store and in-app purchases with an ease of mind
HONG KONG, Oct. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- With the announcement made by Google on Android Pay today, this makes Hong Kong one of the first few markets in Asia Pacific to have this mobile payment option. Consumers in Hong Kong can now pay with their Visa cards from participating issuers, using Android devices that are NFC enabled and that run on KitKat 4.4 or higher[1] to pay at stores and within apps, making mobile payment an easy and secure way to pay.

With the introduction of Android Pay, it will help displace cash and propel electronic payments in the city. Android Pay is compliant with EMVCo standards. Visa Token Service (VTS) standard, a security technology that replaces cardholder information, such as account numbers and expiration dates, with a unique digital identifier (a "token") that can be used for payment without exposing a cardholder's more sensitive account information. Tokenisation hides consumers' confidential account information during digital transactions, making digital payments more secure for everyone, everywhere. Each time a consumer makes a purchase with a card issued by a participating financial institution through a mobile phone, a token and not the actual account number is used to authenticate the consumer and authorise the purchase. The tokenisation process is designed to happen in the background in a way that is seamless and secure to the consumer.
Android Pay is easy to set up. Customers can simply download Android Pay from Google Play, and add Visa cards to Android Pay. Customers can then pay in-store by waking up their phone and placing it near a contactless reader.

Vincross to Debut All-terrain Consumer Robot HEXA, Raises $6 Million Series A Led by GGV
BEIJING, Oct. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Vincross, a robotics startup company, has raised $6 million in its Series A funding. The round was led by GGV Capital, and also included investment from ZhenFund, the robotics company's angel investor. The latest funding will be used for recruitment and ramping up its R&D.

When some AI companies are too busy building robots with wheels and faces, Vincross takes a totally different approach. The company is about to launch its first product -- all-terrain robot HEXA, and it will be the first robot that can climb stairs in the market. This six-legged robot-spider can walk, climb, and travel across rough terrain, which makes it suitable for scientific expeditions. Vincross also says the robot can be used in firefighting, rescue operations, and even Elon Musk's Mars plan.
Unlike all those robotics companies that make wheeled and motionless products, Vincross believes a robot is not only a body that can interact with the physical world, but also a brain that can learn. Thus, it has created an open ecosystem for HEXA. According to the company, HEXA is a living being and a primary state of an artificial life. The startup is inviting interested developers to build new functions for the hexapod, to fulfill its immense potential. Vincross said developers can create "skills" for HEXA using the SDK, which will be released soon, and sell their works in the company's Skill Store. "We are seeking 2,048 insightful developers to train HEXA. We call them HEXA's human mentors, and they will be the first group of people to adopt this robot. In a way, HEXA's future begins with them," the company's founder and CEO Sun Tianqi said.
The current consumer robotics market is dominated by wheeled and motionless products. As a result, HEXA easily stands out from the crowd with its hexapod structure. The six legs free the robot from any restraint of the outside world and make it move dexterously on rough terrain. With this uniqueness, HEXA can do what others can't, such as scientific exploration, firefighting and rescue operations. And as it is well known, when it comes to legged robotics, Boston Dynamics gains the most spotlight. Its robot dogs and humanoids wowed people with their mobility, but those machines rely heavily on diesel fuel and hydraulics. Such technical features inevitably alien the Alphabet subsidiary from general consumers. Taking that into account, HEXA can precisely fill the void of legged robotics in the consumer market.
Vincross was founded in 2014. As the company's CEO, Tianqi has extensive experience in robotics and artificial intelligence. Before starting Vincross, Tianqi worked as an AI scientist at Tsinghua University, where he researched on neural modeling and neural networks. MANCHESTER, N.H., Oct. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast today announced it is significantly increasing the speeds of two of its most popular Internet speed tiers - Blast! and Performance Pro - for both new and existing customers in the Northeast Division, which includes 14 northeastern states from Maine through Virginia and the District of Columbia. Most Blast! customers will see their download speeds increase from 150 Mbps to 200 Mbps, and Performance Pro customers will see an increase from 75 Mbps to 100 Mbps, both at no additional cost. $15,000 drone competition announced for UTM Convention 2016
SYRACUSE N.Y., Oct. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The UTM Convention 2016 and HiddenGenius.com have partnered to launch a technology competition that demonstrates drone sense and avoid technologies (SAA).
The enormous growth in the number of small UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) has highlighted the tremendous opportunities in this industry. This includes using drones beyond line of sight to monitor the safety of rail track, bridges, and power lines. It also includes package delivery and humanitarian missions.

KNBOR, World's First WiFi-Producing Ceiling Lamp, Starts Kickstarter Campaign
HONG KONG, Oct. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Hong Kong-based smart tech company Knbor Technology Co., LTD is launching a new innovative product called KNBOR, which seeks to provide a solution to a common problem that plagues Wi-Fi technology these days: coverage.
KNBOR is a unique smart ceiling lamp that features a multitude of programmable lighting options, all controllable from the lamp's own mobile app. The lamp's colors can be manually picked and synced to music. New functionality designed with customers in mind
The Back-UPS' new compact design delivers more battery backup outlets in less space - up to 22 percent smaller in size and nearly 30 percent lighter in weight - allowing customers to power as many as six devices during a power outage, compared to four devices as with previous models. Additionally, the new models include up to two USB charging ports to make recharging mobile devices simple and convenient during power emergencies.
To keep customers connected longer and protect critical equipment and data, UPS runtime has been maximized for heavy power-consuming loads such as multiple PCs and AV equipment powering up to 480 watts. The new models have also been optimized to run low-powered loads like routers and modems, allowing internet access during an extended power outage for up to 5.9 hours, depending on the model.
Considering these improvements over previous models, Schneider Electric is still able to deliver these enhanced models at no additional cost to customers.
