Glamorous Glass: Nikon Celebrates 100 Million NIKKOR Milestone And The Introduction Of The AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED Lens
MELVILLE, N.Y., July 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --Today, Nikon Inc. is celebrating a momentous NIKKOR production milestone as well as the announcement of the AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED, a premium lens for the most discerning photographers. This luxurious new medium-telephoto lens is engineered to help create flattering images with gorgeous bokeh, while delivering impressive sharpness and beautiful color rendition. As a testament to a lasting legacy of high-caliber lenses, Nikon has also announced that NIKKOR lens production has reached the landmark achievement of 100 million units produced worldwide.
"Surpassing the 100 million lenses produced milestone is a great honor and a testament to the photographers who both love and rely on NIKKOR glass to get the job done," said Kosuke Kawaura, Director of Marketing and Planning, Nikon Inc. "The AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED represents the embodiment of the NIKKOR line of high-quality lenses, giving photographers a robust, well-balanced lens that provides intense sharpness, astounding image quality and background bokeh that is sure to be a favorite among portrait photographers."
Captivating Image Quality
The AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED is a fast, full-frame (FX-format), medium-telephoto prime lens and is the world's first(1) to strike the impeccable balance of 105mm focal length and large f/1.4 aperture for a truly outstanding optic. This new NIKKOR lens is ideal for professional and advanced enthusiast photographers, especially those capturing portraiture, from in-studio fashion to a golden hour engagement session on the beach. These users will love the precise sharpness from this fantastic glass, which provides a flattering compression to subjects with a sensational, sultry bokeh. Beyond the gorgeous image quality lies stellar resolving power, especially when used with Nikon DSLRs such as D5, D810 or D750.
The 105mm f/1.4E is a fast lens with endearing character, providing stellar optical performance, even in the peripherals. Sharp rendering is attained for shooting distant subjects throughout the aperture range - from maximum aperture to being stopped down by several stops. Gradual alteration from the focal plane helps render subjects in high-fidelity with a natural depth, giving colorful portraits and landscapes that little bit of extra "pop" to help create a truly distinct image. The AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4 is also an excellent choice for low-light photography, as its large maximum aperture allows photographers to shoot at the fastest possible shutter speeds. Additionally, this lens can reproduce point light sources faithfully without sagittal coma flare, even on the edges of the frame.
Masterful Lens Construction
Decades of precision, knowledge and experience are put forth into every NIKKOR lens, and the AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED is an exceptional example of brilliant craftsmanship and Nikon technologies merging. Packed with the latest advanced optical innovations, the 105mm f/1.4 features Nikon's electromagnetic aperture control technology for consistent exposures, even during high speed continuous shooting.(2)
On the outside, solid build quality is well-balanced for all-day shooting, while the lens is sealed and gasketed to resist dust and moisture. Additional Fluorine coatings are used on the front and rear elements, so that smudges, dirt or moisture are easily removed. Inside the lens, the optical formula consists of 14 elements in nine groups, which include three ED glass elements. A 9-blade diaphragm further helps to create a circular, pleasing out of focus area. The lens also features Nikon's Nano Crystal Coat technology to significantly reduce instances of ghosting and flare.
The new AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED joins other NIKKOR f/1.4 lenses in the Gold Ring Series, which include only premium primes with Nano Crystal Coat and pro-grade build quality. These other lenses include the AF-S NIKKOR 24mm f/1.4G, AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4G, AF-S NIKKOR 58mm f/1.4G, AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.4G.
A Landmark in the NIKKOR Legacy
Nikon is also pleased to announce that the total production of NIKKOR lenses for Nikon interchangeable lens cameras reached the landmark 100 million milestone in mid-July 2016.
With a robust line-up of high-quality lenses for all types of photographers, the NIKKOR name has become synonymous with a rich history of superior lenses. Nikon continues to introduce new NIKKOR lenses that further optical technology, utilizing cutting-edge techniques and knowledge from experience cultivated over its long history. Such revolutionary advancements include Nano Crystal Coat, which acts as a powerful anti-reflection coating, and significantly reduces instances of ghosting and flare.
More recently, NIKKOR lens technologies such as the use of Phase Fresnel (PF) and Fluorite elements have helped to create smaller and lighter lenses with superb balance and handling. Many NIKKOR lenses now also feature a Fluorine coat that helps repel a variety of contaminants such as dust, dirt, water, oils and grease. The introduction of an electromagnetic diaphragm has also helped to create lenses that provide consistently crisp exposures, even during high-speed shooting.
Pricing and Availability
The AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED will be available in late August for a suggested retail price (SRP) of $2,199.95(3). For more information on Nikon's latest products including their newest NIKKOR lenses, please visit http://www.nikonusa.com.

Endgame Announces Hunt Platform 2.0, Declares IOC Independence
Hardware assisted control flow integrity (HA-CFI(TM)) technology, Endgame MalwareScore(TM), and automated investigations ensure earliest detection and eviction of advanced attacks
ARLINGTON, Va., July 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Endgame, a leading provider of endpoint security solutions to hunt advanced adversaries, today announced several novel technologies as part of its Hunt platform version 2.0 to achieve the earliest possible detection and eviction of adversaries. These unique enhancements provide analysts with immediate detection and response to known and never-before-seen attacks prior to process execution, eliminating cost and time associated with incident response.
Today's attacks on enterprises are growing increasingly sophisticated - exploits bypass widely-used prevention technology like Microsoft (EMET), malware bypasses signature-based detection tools, and adversaries dwell undetected in networks for an average 147 days - exposing enterprises to major business disruption and loss of critical assets. Endgame version 2.0 succeeds where others fail, detecting without waiting for threat intel and preventing exploitation prior to the adversary gaining process execution.
"Enterprises can no longer sit back and wait for threat data to come to them," said Ryan Gurr, Information Security Manager at NuScale Power. "The next generation of security challenges requires a more proactive approach to detect and respond to threats that have evaded defensive technologies. I have found Endgame's Hunt platform helpful in allowing an analyst to quickly detect never-before-visible malicious behaviors on host systems, and block and remove threats at the earliest stages."
Endgame version 2.0 delivers the following significant innovations:
1. Hardware-assisted control flow integrity (HA-CFI(TM)) exploit protection
monitors program execution in real-time and prevents attacks on endpoints
before damage and loss of critical assets, earlier than any product
available in the market. This technology is part of a multi-layer set of
capabilities that protect against exploitation of broad classes of
vulnerabilities and techniques, including heap-overflows,
use-after-frees, and return oriented programming.
2. Endgame MalwareScore(TM) signature-less malware detection engine
identifies malicious files in real-time to deliver 98% effective
detection of new and never-before-seen APT toolsets, ransomware, and
other malware with a negligible false positive rate. MalwareScore
requires no external connectivity and is lightweight - taking under 100
milliseconds per sample with the smallest memory footprint available in
the industry - allowing for a stealthy presence on the endpoint. This
capability streamlines the hunt process for analysts by helping focus
their attention on critical information.
3. Automated Investigation takes the hunt from hours or days down to minutes
via one-click adversary detections based on IOC-independent adversary
techniques. This includes Endgame's best-in-industry persistence
detection, which pinpoints all known and never-before-seen persistence
techniques. Other one-click investigations include malicious running
process detection and attacker command and control communication
detection.
About Endgame
Endgame is a leading provider of next generation endpoint security solutions that enable enterprises to automate the hunt for the most sophisticated adversaries within their networks. The Endgame Hunt platform empowers hunt teams, incident responders, and security operators to conduct an end-to-end hunt mission, significantly reducing the time to detect and contain adversaries. Our IOC-independent platform covers the entire kill chain, leveraging machine learning and data science to uncover, in real-time, unique attacks that evade traditional defenses and respond precisely without disrupting normal business operations. OMRON to Release New Industrial PC Platform, Making Production Sites "Integrated" and "Intelligent"
KYOTO, Japan, July 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- OMRON Corporation announced on July 27 the global release in August of its new Industrial PC Platform (hereinafter "IPC") to innovate manufacturing through IoT utilization and high-speed, high-precision automation.
The IPC is a PC architecture-based platform that meets strict quality standards required for factory automation (FA) devices and can be supplied stably on a long-term basis. OMRON assists manufacturers to make production equipment smarter by utilizing IoT and big data through the IPC. At the same time, OMRON helps them boost both their equipment-operating ratio and manufacturing quality by applying know-how on advanced fine-tuning control, which OMRON has gained through the Sysmac automation platform (*1), to production lines and equipment.
Moves are spreading to seek innovative manufacturing by leveraging IoT, big data and robotics at production sites. In order to collect data for improvement and preventive maintenance, a programmable logic controller (PLC) is connected with PCs for office use which require complex license management and are supported only for a short time. Moreover, builders of semiconductor-manufacturing equipment and machine tools produce dedicated boards in-house, equipped with real-time operating systems, as main controllers. They are outsourcing the development of general control functionality and concentrating resources on the development of competitive core technology. These circumstances have increased global needs for PC architecture-based controllers which provide environmental resistance and reliability and allow for flexible development.
OMRON has captured these needs and developed three types of IPCs. Users can choose the best IPC from box-type PC models and all-in-one PCs with built-in monitors to suit their system configurations and applications. The IPC supports EtherCAT, which was impossible with previous PLCs. EtherCAT is an open network used for production lines and equipment all over the world as well as providing a development environment that allows users to customize functionalities.
Industrial PC Platform
- Industrial PC
The Industrial PC offers robustness and reliability for applications in an FA environment and is
suitable for use with both Windows software and programs for machine control and automation.
Production data can be collected to ensure stable equipment operation.
- Industrial PC: IPC Machine Controller (*2)
The IPC Machine Controller is a hybrid PLC that combines fine-tuning control featuring the
precision and speed of the NJ/NX series of Machine Automation Controllers with the versatility and
range of Windows programs on a single platform by using OMRON's unique hypervisor function.
This enables users to easily achieve both production data handling and advanced fine-tuning
control using ILOR+S (Input, Logic, Output, Robotics +Safety).
- Industrial PC: IPC RTOS Controller (*3)
Coming equipped with a real-time operating system (*4), the IPC RTOS Controller enables both
real-time control and execution of data-processing tasks. Users can utilize OMRON's high-speed,
high-precision and real-time machine control in the same programming environment based on
familiar C-language (C/C++) as with dedicated boards produced in-house by semiconductor-
manufacturing equipment builders.
OMRON brings innovation to manufacturing sites through automation with "integrated," "intelligent" and "interactive" concepts. The IPC is a new control platform that delivers "integrated" and "intelligent" automation to production sites and equipment around the world. OMRON is going to work on manufacturing innovation with manufacturers by developing OMRON's unique automation using a wide range of FA product lineups, including PLCs and IPCs, and open industrial networks such as EtherCAT.
(*1) Sysmac automation platform
OMRON's integrated automation platform is dedicated to providing complete control and
management of an automation plant under one software. Programming based on global
standards and global open networks allows for building the globally standardized system. At the
core of this platform, the machine controller series offers synchronous control of all machine
devices and advanced functionality such as motion, robotics and database connectivity. This
multidisciplinary concept allows you to simplify solution architecture, reduce programming and
optimize productivity.
(*2) The Industrial PC IPC Machine Controller will be available soon.
(*3) Available in Japan only.
(*4) Choice of real-time operating systems: Linux and VxWorks.
OMRON Corporation is a global leader in the field of automation based on its core technology of sensing and control. OMRON's business fields cover a broad spectrum, ranging from industrial automation and electronic components to automotive electronic components, social infrastructure systems, healthcare, and environmental solutions. Established in 1933, OMRON has over 38,000 employees worldwide, working to provide products and services in more than 110 countries and regions. Connect Managed Services Recognition as a Cisco Unified Contact Centre Enterprise Advanced Technology Partner (ATP) in the UK is More Than it First Seems?
LONDON, July 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
Usually an announcement that a company has obtained Partner status might get the
occasional by-line which is quickly discarded from memory, but Connect Managed Services
warrants more examination because it is one of only 6 Cisco partners in the UK that has
Unified Contact Centre Enterprise ATP status.
Cisco's Unified Contact Centre are market leading systems, but each deployment, or

the team," says Alex Tupman, CEO Connect Managed Services, "Connect have a great deal of
experience in working in challenging Contact Centre environments," continues Tupman, "we

Big Data Deployment Efficiency Optimized By Big Memory, Say Experts at Inspur Systems and Diablo Technologies
Disruptive capacity advantages of Memory1 provides significant benefits over DRAM-only implementations
SAN JOSE, Calif., July 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- As the volume and breadth of data continues to proliferate, businesses are faced with both opportunities and challenges associated with this deluge. On one hand, there is a genuine benefit to be found in leveraging growing volumes of information to plan, act and react to continuously evolving business environments. On the other hand, the amount of time, energy and resources required to collect and interpret this incoming data can easily outpace the value obtained. While turning to in-memory data processing applications built on DRAM to secure real-time analysis may help satisfy the former, the massive system memory usage required to support DRAM's extremely high performance, as well as capacity and cost restraints associated with the technology, exasperate the latter.
With platforms like Apache Spark having emerged and gaining popularity among those looking to make intelligent, real-time business decisions, there is an increased need for memory capacity to enable the fastest access and most optimized system-level performance. However, using excessive numbers of servers to design around DRAM capacity constraints leads to inefficient, high-cost deployments. Instead, an approach that enables more memory per server by utilizing high-capacity NAND flash is better able to provide the unbeatable combination of business and economic value needed in Big Data environments, experts at Inspur Systems and Diablo Technologies found through close collaboration.
Diablo Technologies' Memory1 is the first memory DIMM to expose NAND flash as standard application memory. This revolutionary tiered-memory solution provides the industry's highest-capacity byte-addressable memory modules. Memory1 provides significantly higher capacity than DRAM DIMMs, enabling dramatic increases in application memory per server. This provides substantial performance advantages, due to increased data locality and reduced access times. Memory1 also minimizes Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) by reducing the number of servers required to support memory-constrained applications like Apache Spark.
"Dramatically expanding the application memory available in a single server directly addresses key issues found in traditional, DRAM-only deployments for Big Data processing platforms like Apache Spark," said Maher Amer, Chief Technology Officer. "Because each server is capable of doing more work, jobs can be more efficiently handled with fewer servers, which also minimizes the associated networking and operational expenses. A tiered NAND flash approach is key to providing the benefits of real-time analysis while minimizing the expense required to collect and interpret valuable information."
Founded in 2003, Diablo is at the forefront of developing breakthrough technologies for next-generation enterprise computing. Diablo's flagship Memory1 is a first-of-its-kind memory technology that delivers four times the capacity of the largest DRAM modules. Diablo's Memory Channel Storage platform combines innovative software and hardware architectures with Non-Volatile Memory to introduce a new and disruptive generation of Solid State Storage for data-intensive applications. The Diablo leadership team has decades of experience in system architecture, chipset design, enterprise software and business development at companies including PMC-Sierra, Anobit, AT&T-Microelectronics, Bell Labs, Nortel Networks, Intel, Cisco, AMD, SEGA, Cadence Design Systems, Matrox Graphics, BroadTel Communications and ENQ Semiconductor. Cadence Launches Tensilica Fusion G3 DSP Featuring Exceptional Out-of-the-Box Performance for Compute-Intensive Signal Processing Applications
Highlights:
- Program in 'C/C++' with near-optimal performance out-of-the-box
- High performance, multi-purpose fixed and floating point VLIW DSP
- Comprehensive data-type support with auto-vectorization
- Real-time control with flexible memory subsystem, integrated DMA controller and memory protection unit
SAN JOSE, Calif., July 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CDNS) today announced the availability of the new Cadence® Tensilica® Fusion G3 digital signal processor (DSP), a multi-purpose, high-performance DSP ideal for compute-intensive system-on-chip (SoC) designs. The Tensilica Fusion G3 DSP is exceptionally easy to program and ideal for use in automotive, consumer, internet-of-things (IoT) and industrial applications that combine intensive audio, imaging, communications, radar and embedded DSP computation. For more information, visit: cadence.com/go/FusionG3.
"As we continue to broaden our customer base, we are solving a wider range of SoC challenges. The flexibility of the new Tensilica Fusion G3 DSP is perfect for customers running a diverse set of software applications," stated Steve Roddy, senior group director of product marketing for Tensilica in the IP Group at Cadence. "With advanced development tools including auto-vectorization and extensive library support, the Tensilica Fusion G3 DSP provides our customers with an easy development flow and higher performance out-of-the-box for their next-generation applications. Even those with extensive floating-point performance requirements can quickly port existing code to the Tensilica Fusion G3 DSP with the optional Vector Floating-Point unit."
The Tensilica Fusion G3 DSP expands on the multi-purpose Tensilica Fusion DSP product family introduced in 2015. When compared to the Tensilica Fusion F1 DSP, the Fusion G3 DSP shares the same base Xtensa instruction-set architecture (ISA), while adding richer and higher throughput DSP instructions. Ideal for more compute-intensive applications including radar, imaging and mid- to high-end audio pre/post-processing, it delivers this performance with quad 32-bit integer MACs and quad single-precision 32-bit floating-point MACs.
"Cadence has long supplied function-specific DSPs for audio, imaging/vision and baseband signal-processing workloads. In fast-evolving markets like automotive and IOT, however, where DSP requirements are known to be changing, a narrowly-focused DSP is not always the best choice," said Mike Demler, senior analyst of The Linley Group. "In these markets, there is an emerging demand for high performance, multi-purpose DSP IP which supports a wider range of data types and operations, including both fixed and floating point. A single, extensive, DSP instruction set architecture (ISA) that handles many different compute-intensive signal processing tasks, can future-proof SOC designs in fast changing markets."
Combining high-performance signal processing with configurability and extensibility allows significant customer flexibility in hardware and software design choices. The Tensilica Fusion G3 DSP was co-designed with a lead customer and has already been taped out in silicon earlier this year. The Fusion G3 DSP will be available for broad licensing in October 2016.
Tensilica processors have been licensed by 17 of the top 20 semiconductor vendors, have over 250 licensees, with 1000s of different cores in silicon. The Xtensa architecture is one of the most popular licensable processor architectures, shipping over 3B cores in 2015, in products spanning sensors to supercomputers.

Steeper Price Declines to Drive Seven-Fold Increase in Server-Class Ethernet Networking Bandwidth by 2020, According to Crehan Research
Dollar-per-Gigabit Bandwidth Prices to Fall Below One-Fifth of Current Levels, Largely Enabled by 25, 50 and 100 Gigabit Ethernet
SAN FRANCISCO, July 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In its most recent Server-Class Adapter & LAN-on-Motherboard (LOM) Long-Range Forecast Report, Crehan Research Inc. projects that much steeper server-class Ethernet networking price declines will result in a significant increase in bandwidth deployed, enabling the next phase of cloud services. The firm forecasts that the dollar-per-gigabit cost of server-class Ethernet networking bandwidth will fall to less than one-fifth of its current level within five years, and that the related bandwidth deployed will correspondingly increase more than seven-fold during that same time period (see accompanying figure).
"Over the past five years, server-class Ethernet networking bandwidth has seen a robust increase of about thirty percent per year, in conjunction with ever-increasing data center network traffic and an annual dollar-per-gigabit price decline in the ten to fifteen percent range," said Seamus Crehan, president of Crehan Research. "With the arrival of 25 gigabit Ethernet (GbE), 50GbE and 100GbE, we expect an inflection change in this trend, with total bandwidth increasing close to fifty percent annually and the cost-per-gigabit of that bandwidth declining by close to thirty percent annually." He added, "In fact, we are already seeing examples where 25GbE, 50GbE and 100GbE data center Ethernet products have very small - and sometimes no - price premium over the comparable lower speed offering."
Despite its projection of a very strong ramp in the adoption of 25GbE, 50GbE and 100GbE, Crehan Research expects 10GbE to remain a very important server-class Ethernet networking technology through 2020, especially in enterprise data centers. "Although there is a lot of excitement around 25GbE, 50GbE and 100GbE, and justifiably so," Crehan said, "many enterprise data centers are still using 1GbE for server networking attach. A lot of these customers will likely see 10GbE, and especially 10GBASE-T, as their next network upgrade path." In a prior long-range forecast report, the firm noted that in contrast to the past, many high-speed Ethernet networking speeds would coexist simultaneously, as the diverse segments of the market looked for more targeted solutions to meet their specific needs.

TrackR Launches New Features to Make the Task of Remembering Where Items Are Easier
Family Sharing and Custom Printing make TrackR bravo smarter and more personal
SANTA BARBARA, Calif., July 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, TrackR announced two new features for its TrackR bravo, designed to make the device smarter and more personal. Family Sharing allows TrackR users to share items with groups of selected people that make sense for their daily life, while Custom Printing allows TrackR users to print any photo directly onto their TrackR bravo so the device fits seamlessly into their style.
With the Family Sharing option, TrackR users can share items in the context of groups that they interact with most in their daily lives - families, roommates, neighbors, etc. - enabling a "group effort" approach for quickly locating misplaced items. For example, a user could set up a "Family" group that includes their spouse and children; within that group, they could share their TrackR-ed TV remote, car keys, and cat so anyone in the family can help find those items. The same user could set up a "Neighbors" group, in which each group member shares their TrackR-ed pet, so the whole neighborhood could look for Fido if he gets loose. Setting up groups, adding members, and sharing items is simple and makes it faster and easier to track lost items that you share with those groups anyway.
Custom Printing makes TrackR bravo devices more personalized than ever. Any photo can be printed directly onto the TrackR using UV-LED technology, so the picture will last. This level of customization turns the TrackR into a special gift, a corporate give-away or custom keychain. Custom Printing costs an additional $4.99 per TrackR bravo.
"We are building a platform that remembers where your stuff is so that you don't have to, and TrackR bravo is an integral part of that platform," said Christian Johan Smith, president and co-founder of TrackR. "With Family Sharing and Custom Printing, TrackR bravo becomes an even more powerful tool for keeping track of your most important belongings, while also fitting more seamlessly into your everyday life and style. That's the future of consumer inventory management as we see it."
TrackR bravo is the thinnest and most durable tracking device on the market, helping people find more than one million things every day. Customers can attach a TrackR bravo to anything they don't want to lose - keys, pets, luggage, etc. - and quickly locate misplaced items by ringing them or seeing their location on a map. TrackR bravo has the world's largest Crowd GPS network; if an item is truly lost, the entire TrackR community is activated, and will anonymously update the customer with the exact GPS location of their lost item.
TrackR bravo devices are available at theTrackR.com. Custom Printing is available upon request at checkout.

Ruckus Wireless Simplifies Wireless Networking with Cloud Wi-Fi
New WLAN Management-as-a-Service Offer Combines Cloud Simplicity with Better Wi-Fi
SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Ruckus Wireless, Inc., now part of Brocade (NASDAQ: BRCD), today announced the general availability of Ruckus Cloud Wi-Fi, a wireless local area network (WLAN) management-as-a-service offer powered by the new Ruckus public cloud platform. Ruckus Cloud Wi-Fi enables distributed organizations with limited IT resources to set up, monitor and manage a high-performance multi-site WLAN of any size. Featuring an intuitive, intent-driven user interface for managing some of the industry's highest performing access points (APs), network managers benefit from cloud simplicity without having to compromise on Wi-Fi performance.
"Customers shouldn't have to sacrifice end user experience in order to reap the benefits of the cloud," said Dan Rabinovitsj, chief operating officer, Ruckus Wireless Business Unit, Brocade. "They also shouldn't have to be locked into a single architecture--if they need to change, their APs should change with them. With Ruckus Cloud Wi-Fi, customers don't need to make these tradeoffs anymore. Using the Ruckus Cloud platform, we will continue to introduce compelling as-a-service offers that can include cloud-managed switching and cloud-managed in-building LTE service based on OpenG(TM) technology. Customers could have access to all of these services through the same intuitive interface."
With the introduction of Cloud Wi-Fi, Ruckus Wireless now offers the industry's broadest range of deployment options--public cloud, data center or private cloud, hardware or virtual appliance, and controller-less--making it a leader in WLAN architectural flexibility. Ruckus partners will benefit by participating in the fast-growing, cloud-managed WLAN market while simultaneously addressing a broader set of deployment requirements. In the future, the company plans to introduce Ruckus Cloud support for in-building LTE service and Brocade(®) ICX(®) switches, delivering an integrated platform simplifying the configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting of both wired and wireless networks.
"The WLAN market experienced substantial growth in the first quarter of 2016, a trend that we expect to continue, in part due to increased demand for the well-established benefits of cloud-managed WLAN services," said Nolan Greene, senior research analyst, network infrastructure at IDC. "Ruckus Cloud Wi-Fi offers a simple-to-deploy, less time-intensive alternative to on-premises controller architectures and will enable even the most IT-constrained organizations to easily manage dozens or even hundreds of sites."
Key Cloud Wi-Fi features and benefits include:
-- Best-in-class Wi-Fi performance: Cloud Wi-Fi customers use the same
industry-leading APs that consistently outperform competing products in
third-party testing. With the ability to excel in challenging user
density, interference and physical environments, customers can use fewer
APs than competing vendors would require. Alternatively, customers can
use the same number of APs to build a network that easily accommodates
the growing requirements for years to come.
-- Intent-driven user interface (UI): The Cloud Wi-Fi UI is designed to
display only the data the user needs to accomplish a task and the system
automates tasks whenever possible. This intuitive approach enables IT to
spend less time managing and status-checking the WLAN without the need
for technical training or certifications.
-- An intuitive, full-featured mobile app: The Cloud Wi-Fi mobile app
allows IT managers to carry the network with them wherever they are, get
notified whenever the network needs attention and make instant changes
right from their pocket.
-- Cloud-scale: The cloud-scale nature of the Ruckus Cloud platform allows
Cloud Wi-Fi customers to add APs and sites at will, with no more effort
required to add the thousandth AP or the hundredth site than the first
of either. Such scaling comes with no increase in management complexity
and a single user interface provides visibility to the entire network,
no matter how large or distributed it may be.
-- Analytics and reporting: The big data warehouse within the Ruckus Cloud
infrastructure allows for highly granular reporting of up to six months
of KPIs, ranging from low-level per-radio airtime utilization to layer-7
application visibility.
-- AP investment protection: APs used in a Cloud Wi-Fi deployment can be
reused in any of Ruckus' other deployment options, should circumstances
demand.
A number of Ruckus customers have implemented Ruckus Cloud Wi-Fi prior to the market introduction, and the results have been positive. "We have approximately 4,500 students within our seven schools across the district, and having Ruckus Cloud Wi-Fi is important for a couple of reasons," said Aaron Souza, director of information technology, Minooka School District. "We have a fairly tight budget when it comes to personnel, so being able to manage our Wi-Fi from an off-site location is a huge benefit to us. Not only that, but Cloud Wi-Fi's simple deployment and ease of use saves us time so that we can instead focus on important issues such as providing systems and applications our students need for learning."
"We've been able to use Ruckus Cloud Wi-Fi with the added assurance that the APs can be managed by any of the Ruckus management architectures," said Curtis McKay, network administrator, Belleville School District. "As a result, it's been extremely helpful in managing the amount of devices both students and staff bring into our schools on a daily basis, without affecting performance or connectivity."
Ruckus Cloud Wi-Fi is available through Ruckus' global distribution network. Visit the Ruckus website to learn more.

Phonie: An Off-the-grid Phone That Assists In Avoiding Distractions by Use Of Smartphones
SHENZHEN, China, July 25, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- With the distractions that are characterized by a smartphone, a group of engineers who believe that phone owners should have their inner peace and their children lead a normal life without being distracted by games and other features found in smartphones have declared that it is time to adopt a phonie.
The Phonie is a tiny phone, almost the size of a credit card, that is 0.23 inch thick, sleeker than an iPhone. It can be put in a wallet without requiring any additional space. It is an unlocked GSM phone which uses a micro SIM card, allowing the user to save on cross-border roaming fees. The phone allows the user to make a call, text and record, but other features that distract, such as internet access, calculators and contacts are not available. It is a high-performance phone that allows users to synchronize contact data with their smartphones, has a strong and stable signal, quality sound, smart magnetic charging and a long battery life.
The Phonie is a type of mobile device that will allow parents to spend quality time with their children, take care of their pets and carry out chores in their house, something that they would not do if they owned a smartphone as they would be forced to visit social media sites, play games and use a host of other applications offered in these disruptive gadgets.
Pruced under $100, the phonie can be a perfect gift for kids or seniors; it will serve them well, giving them inner peace through avoiding distractions that are characterized by the use of a smartphone. And its deceptive bank card size appearance makes it a perfect gift for the family game of " dollar trick".
Another cute item from the company, called Elfy, is so much like the Pokemon Go ball. It's lucky that Elfy was designed before Pokemon Go game and also won Golden Pin Design Award. Otherwise, it would have been treated as a copycat.
More and more people feel lonely because of the internet! Elfy aims to create a great companion product for nurseries as a night lamp and an emotional lamp for lonely ones. So go off the grid with the Phonie and have Elfy as your lovely friend- the light can sense your emotion and echo it by changing its color with its vibration sensor.
About
The official name of Phonie is "WIME Talkase T1S". It was created by MakeTheOne.com, an E-commerce company that focuses on creative electronic gadgets. The company has been supplying trendy, stylish and practical products for years. Their latest product, the phonie, aims to change people's lifestyles.

"Shopping for The Future" Group Formed in Japan to study Digimarc® Barcode Impact
Charter members include many industry leaders
BEAVERTON, Ore., July 25, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Digimarc Corporation (NASDAQ: DMRC) today announced that a group of industry-leading companies in Japan has formed a study group regarding implementation of Digimarc Barcode. The "Shopping for The Future" study group includes 17 companies encompassing retailers, consumer brands and their suppliers. The group is led by Monic Corporation, Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd., SATO Corporation and Digimarc.
The formation of this impressive group of industry leaders follows on the recent announcement by Digimarc of its collaboration with industry association GS1 US, and represents the beginning of globalization for the Digimarc platform. Digimarc Barcode, the Barcode of Everything, is a carrier for conventional barcode data that is generally imperceptible in ordinary use and does everything conventional barcodes do better. Importantly, the Digimarc Barcode can be applied to all media, not just printed materials as in use of conventional barcodes. Unlike conventional barcodes and QR codes, the Digimarc Barcode does not take up any space in consumer product packaging. The Digimarc platform addresses retail value chain challenges, from streamlining and improving quality in manufacturing to vastly speeding-up retail checkout, and providing consumers with access to important information via their smartphones.
The Shopping for The Future group has created numerous work groups to conduct research and share best practices for implementation and application development. The study group intends to support its members by providing a platform for networking and exchanging know-how and expertise.
"The potential benefits of the Digimarc Barcode will change retail on a worldwide basis," said Yoshio Motte, Monic CEO. "Embedding information on a consumer package or an industrial device surface so that it is essentially invisible to the naked eye but is easily read by electronic devices opens up a world of possibilities for greater efficiency and consumer satisfaction. The Shopping for The Future study group is eager to collaborate on bringing the Digimarc Barcode to industry and consumers across Japan. We believe the addition of this technology will revolutionize retail."
"New product packages enabled with Digimarc Barcode will become new media which can be used as a communication tool with consumers not only in stores but anywhere," said Yuji Eguchi, General Manager of Business Process Re-engineering Platform Division, Communication & Information Center, Information Innovation Operations, Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd.
"As auto-ID industry professionals, we assessed the high potential of Digimarc Barcodes to address customer needs unmet by existing identification symbols such as barcodes and RFID," said SATO Corporation President Ryutaro Kotaki. "We will incorporate Digimarc Barcode into solutions using our expertise in auto-ID technologies and labeling to meet the needs of customers in Japan and globally."
"We are grateful that the Shopping for The Future group has been formed to lay the groundwork for successful implementation of Digimarc Barcode in Japan," said Bruce Davis, CEO, Digimarc.

Montage Rolls Out the World's First Gen2+ DDR4 RCD Capable of DDR4-3200
SHANGHAI, July 25, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Montage Technology Group Limited ("Montage"), a global fabless provider of analog and mixed-signal semiconductor solutions for the cloud computing, Internet of Things (IoT) and home entertainment markets, today announced its roll-out of the world's first Gen2+ DDR4 Registering Clock Driver (DDR4RCD02+) capable of DDR4-3200, and the successful validation of its Gen2 DDR4 Registering Clock Driver (DDR4RCD02) and Data Buffer (DDR4DB02) products for DDR4 server platforms.
Montage rolled out the DDR4RCD02+ product in June 2016. Fully compliant with the latest JEDEC DDR4 RCD specification, the DDR4RCD02+ inherits from its predecessor DDR4RCD02 all outstanding features like ultra-low power consumption, strong stability, etc, but supports higher data rates of up to 3200 Mbps than that of DDR4RCD02 at 2666 Mbps. More importantly, the DDR4RCD02+ has an optional NVDIMM (Non-Volatile Dual In-line Memory Module) support feature. NVDIMM is a hybrid memory module that appears like a DDR4 SDRAM to the system controller, yet contains non-volatile memories such as NAND Flash on the module. With this added feature, the DDR4RCD02+ can provide a new level of functionality to the computer memory hierarchy and enable the next-generation data center servers to take full advantage of persistent memory at DRAM speeds.
In May 2016, Montage also received chipset vendor's validation for its Gen2 DDR4RCD02/DDR4DB02 products and became the first vendor in the industry to deliver complete DDR4-2666 memory interface solutions across all DRAM platforms for data center servers. This achievement further solidifies Montage's leadership position in the memory interface market and enables Montage to be the vendor of first choice among DRAM and server OEMs.
"I'm excited again that Montage is the world's first vendor to provide Gen2+ DDR4 memory interface products to serve future data center needs. Along with our successful track record of being the world's first to deliver Gen1 and Gen2 solutions, we continue to work closely with our ecosystem partners to innovate and accelerate new memory technology developments to address the increasing demand of memory systems in the data center cloud computing era," said Stephen Tai, President of Montage.
