PLYMOUTH, Minn., May 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/-- Primera Technology, Inc., one of the world's leading manufacturers of specialty printers, today announced its new LX500 Color Label Printer.
LX500 is Primera's newest and most affordable desktop color label and tag printer. Its high-yield, tri-color ink cartridge keeps cost per label low. Fast print speeds and an optional built-in guillotine-style cutter allow users to quickly and easily print and cut their short-run labels. In addition, LX500 has a lower MSRP price than the printer it replaced which was called LX400, and is up to 270% faster on labels printed with comparable print quality. LX500's MSRP price is $1295 while the LX400 was priced $200 higher, at $1495.
"Start-ups and other small businesses quickly realize that their labels must look professional. With LX500 they can produce labels that look as good as, or even better, than large, national branded products," said Mark D. Strobel, Primera's vice president of sales and marketing. "With more than two and a half times the print speed, even better print quality than the previous model and at $200 less MSRP, LX500 is a compelling choice for any business that needs to produce stunning, full-color labels on-demand."
Typical applications include product labels for coffee, wine, bakery, confectionary, meat, cheese and hundreds of other specialty and gourmet foods. LX500 also accepts tag stock that can be cut with the optional built-in cutter, making it ideal for producing visitor, convention and meeting badges. LX500 can also be used for private labeling, test marketing, pre-press proofing and retail shelf labeling.
Printer drivers are included for Windows 7/8/10, along with Bartender Ultralite Software (for Windows) to format label designs, add barcodes, QR codes, etc. Most other popular graphic design programs for Windows can be used to design and print labels. A Mac driver is currently under development and will be available soon.
Qualified substrates include many different inkjet label materials, including Primera's exclusive Tuffcoat Extreme (TM) white and clear polyester and white BOPP. Paper labels are also available in high-gloss and matte finishes.
LX500 is priced at $1295 (MSRP) and LX500c (with cutter) is priced at $1395 (MSRP) in the USA and Canada. It is available now from Primera's resellers and distributors worldwide.

Microchip Introduces Hardware Cryptography-Enabled 32-bit Microcontroller for Internet of Things Applications
CEC1302 Offers Significant Performance Improvement over Firmware-Based Security Solutions
CHANDLER, Ariz., May 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Microchip Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: MCHP), a leading provider of microcontroller, mixed-signal, analog and Flash-IP solutions, today announced a new hardware crypto-enabled 32-bit microcontroller. The CEC1302's hardware-based cryptography suite offers significant performance improvements over firmware-based solutions. The CEC1302 makes it easy to add security to Internet of Things (IoT) devices, offering easy-to-use encryption and authentication for programming flexibility and increased levels of security.
Security threats are increasing exponentially in terms of frequency, targeted devices, malignancy and costs of attacks. The CEC1302 allows for pre-boot authentication of the system firmware in order to ensure that the firmware is untouched and uncorrupted, thereby preventing security attacks such as man-in-the-middle, denial-of-service and backdoor vulnerabilities. It can also be used to authenticate any firmware updates, protecting the system from malware or memory corruption.
"Including cryptography in the hardware is a game changer in terms of security," said Ian Harris, vice president of Microchip's Computer Products Group. "It offers a level of speed and security that just isn't possible in low-power devices when implemented in firmware. There is a growing need for not just smart but connected devices, especially in IoT applications. Connectivity brings control, sensing and the ability to update system software over the Internet, but it also opens the door to security breaches. The CEC1302 offers sophisticated security capabilities that offer the benefits of a connected device without the security concerns typically associated with being connected to the Internet."
The CEC1302 offers private key and customer programming flexibility with a full-featured microcontroller in a single-package solution in order to minimize customer risk. The device provides savings in terms of power drain and also improved execution of application performance. In addition, since the CEC1302 is a full 32-bit microcontroller with an ARM(®) Cortex(®)-M4 core, adding security functionality only results in a small additional cost. The CEC1302 can be used as a standalone security coprocessor or can replace an existing microcontroller. The hardware-enabled public key engine of the device is also 20 to 50 times faster than firmware-enabled algorithms, and the hardware-enabled hashing is 100 times faster.
In order to quickly develop applications based on the CEC1302, use MikroElektronika's CEC1302 Clicker (part #: MIKROE-1970) and CEC1302 Clicker 2 (part #: MIKROE-1969). Use these boards with MikroElektronika's complete development toolchain for Microchip CEC1302 ARM(®) Cortex(®)-M4 MCUs which includes compilers, development boards, programmers/debuggers or with standard third-party ARM(®) MCU toolchains.
Pricing and Availability
The CEC1302 (part number CEC1302D-SZ-C0) is available today for sampling and volume production in a 144-WFBGA package starting at $1.75 each in 10,000 unit quantities.

DESTIN, Fla., May 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, May 3, 2016, CartoBlue launched its newest visual marketing tool CartoVision. CartoVision is a virtual reality tool used to place viewers directly inside a home or real estate property. It allows viewers to take a virtual, self-guided, room-by-room tour of the entire property. The virtual tour is created by combining multiple high-resolution images, which in turn build a 3D, digital representation of the property that viewers can navigate through using their computer, mobile device, or virtual reality tools such as Google Cardboard.
CartoBlue is the first visual marketing company to bring virtual reality technology to Northwest Florida's real estate industry. Home based in Destin, FL, it's expected that the area's vacation rental and real estate markets will be quick to integrate this virtual reality marketing tool into their sales and marketing strategies.
"We are very excited to introduce CartoVision to the Gulf Coast. Real estate agents and property managers will be able to provide their clients with a visual experience like never before using the virtual reality capabilities of our product," said Jason Smolarek, Director of Operations at CartoBlue. Real estate agents will be able to show their client multiple properties without leaving the office. -- Blog: "New EMC Native Hybrid Cloud Developer Platform Ready to Use in as
Few as Two Days"
Full Story:
EMC Corporation (NYSE: EMC) announced today the latest addition to its cloud portfolio, Native Hybrid Cloud(TM) (NHC(TM)) - a turnkey platform for cloud-native application development and deployment. As a fully integrated and engineered platform, NHC enables enterprises to innovate and scale faster. It helps enterprise IT and operations teams to better collaborate with developers, allowing for rapid application development and delivery while providing the needed protection, controls and insight to IT.
In today's dynamically changing digital economy, rapid application development and shortened release cycles are the new normal. DevOps, leveraging continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) and a more integrated operating model and culture between developers and IT, can provide a competitive edge, but shifting to DevOps is difficult without the right development platform and tools. Cloud-native platforms address this need. Cloud-native refers to a new software architecture that enables agile application development that follows cloud-native principles, a shift toward microservices versus monolithic app stacks, and embraces container infrastructure abstraction models.
Many enterprise customers have spent months - and in some cases years - trying to "build" their own cloud-native stacks, and now realize that deploying these stacks is difficult, and maintaining them after "day two" operations (update/maintain/report/support) is nearly impossible. Many have also suffered seeing multiple waves of cloud-native employees come and go, leaving unfinished pilots that were unsuitable for full production, and were not adequately designed to be supported and sustained for future evolution and growth.
Native Hybrid Cloud helps enterprises realize the promise of cloud-native applications and DevOps with an "It Just Works" experience. The platform has the following components, all validated to work together:
-- Continuous Innovation Cloud-Native Platform - Native Hybrid Cloud
leverages Pivotal Cloud Foundry®, the industry-leading cloud-native
platform. Pivotal Cloud Foundry delivers platform capabilities that
enhance developer productivity, enable operational excellence, and
provide enterprise grade security, scalability, high availability, and
operational control, so customers can accelerate their time to market
for software solutions. Developers can more quickly design, build,
deploy, and scale cloud-native applications because of the tight
integration of NHC IaaS with Pivotal Cloud Foundry. Applications built
using Pivotal Cloud Foundry are truly portable and can elastically run
on any cloud - private or public.
-- Developer and IT Ops Services - Native Hybrid Cloud brings developers a
rich set of services for deploying, scaling, and managing the
application life cycle while providing IT the visibility, control, and
financial insights by including logging, monitoring, and reporting,
showback, application performance, big data analytics, and management
and automation through open APIs. For enterprises seeking real-time
business insights, NHC offers an add-on option that produces a
comprehensive toolkit for data scientists to perform big data analytics,
delivering more differentiated value.
-- Turnkey - but flexible choices for On-Premises and Off-Premises IaaS
Options -Native Hybrid Cloud is built on the VCE® VxRack(TM) System
1000, a hyper-converged rack-scale infrastructure providing a turnkey
IaaS experience for application development, deployment, and operations.
The VxRack System allows customers to choose the cloud software stack
based on their preference: VMware vSphere with FLEX Nodes for customers
looking to leverage what they know, a turnkey OpenStack® option for
those wanting to leverage the OpenStack ecosystem with Neutrino Nodes.
In the near future, VMware Photon Platform, a cloud-native
infrastructure solution optimized for containers and modern
applications, will be supported on Neutrino Nodes, along with data
fabric options including, but not limited to the Apache Hadoop
ecosystem. VxRack System with Neutrino Nodes provides a simple
rack-scale management and orchestration capability for cloud-native IaaS
stacks, dramatically simplifying "day two" operations and scaling
infrastructure elastically to match the needs of the developers - making
what used to be complex now simple and predictable.
-- For customer deployments that require an off-premise IaaS option, EMC
Native Hybrid Cloud offers day one support for leading public clouds:
Virtustream(®) Enterprise Cloud, VMware vCloud Air, Amazon Web Services
(AWS), or Microsoft Azure.
For customers initially looking for a cloud-native IaaS system, VxRack System with Neutrino Nodes and FLEX Nodes for cloud-native IaaS is a great option because it speeds the provisioning of resources based on open source technologies to less than one hour.
For many enterprise businesses, Native Hybrid Cloud aligns closer to the agile development strategy as it delivers a turnkey developer platform for cloud-native applications.
Fully supported end-to-end by EMC, sustained as one product and deployable in days, Native Hybrid Cloud enables enterprises to significantly reduce the cost, time, complexity and uncertainty associated with building, deploying and maintaining a cloud-native solution and navigating the cultural shift to DevOps.
Delivering Cloud-Native Apps at the Speed of Business
Native Hybrid Cloud increases business agility and fosters innovation through an engineered platform that brings together infrastructure elasticity, self-healing, automated application runtime, and extended developer and IT Ops services. Key benefits include:
-- Deploy a cloud-native developer platform and infrastructure services in
as few as two days, composed of Pivotal Cloud Foundry integrated with
the EMC and VMware powered IaaS, making it ready for tailoring to a
customer environment, if desired. Native Hybrid Cloud delivers 93
percent faster time-to-code compared to a practice where customers build
a complete cloud-native platform from the ground up.
-- 3x faster time to market. Develop and deploy cloud-native applications
in days or weeks rather than months or years. Rapid application
development from idea to production as a result of the extensive
developer and IT Ops services and tools.
-- Improved DevOps collaboration. New DevOps partnerships made possible by
self-service capabilities for developers while allowing IT to retain
control and insights.
-- 2x Boost to developer productivity. Developers can self-provision
infrastructure for cloud-native application development and enjoy an "it
just works" user experience. A streamlined workflow and the ecosystem of
toolsets simplify how cloud-native applications are built, deployed, and
managed.
-- Single-call support. EMC provides single-call support for the full
solution.
-- Reduced complexity. The Native Hybrid Cloud platform is engineered,
maintained and sustained as one platform. This means that as the
software ecosystem continues to innovate, the Native Hybrid Cloud stack
continues to get updated and supported as a singular platform for the
customer.
Availability
EMC Native Hybrid Cloud with VxRack System with Neutrino Nodes and FLEX Nodes will be available starting in Q3, 2016.

-- Blog: "EMC DSSD D5: New Tools to Transition to the Modern Data Center"
Full release:
EMC Corporation (NYSE: EMC) today announced new Rack-Scale Flash offerings including dual DSSD(TM) D5(TM) systems in a single rack for use with market-leading high performance database applications as well as the new VCE(TM) VxRack(TM) 1000 Series System with DSSD(TM). DSSD is a key building block for the modern data center, not only accelerating the performance of traditional databases and data warehouses, but also helping customers address new challenges around high performance real-time analytics running on a new generation of apps and much larger working data sets.
Flash storage has always been about performance. However, EMC has declared 2016 the "Year of All Flash," and has committed to shipping the majority of all primary storage as all-flash configurations. This commitment to flash, where EMC already leads the market, is extended by innovations in Rack-Scale Flash designed to support both traditional and next-generation applications that pave the way to the modern data center.
Earlier this year, EMC introduced DSSD D5, a completely new architecture designed for the most data-intensive applications, both traditional and next-generation, which require extreme levels of performance and the lowest possible latency. DSSD D5 reaches new performance heights, with real-world results that speed applications such as genetic sequencing calculations, fraud detection, credit card authorization, and advanced analytics by as much as 10X.
DSSD D5 delivers extreme speed for customers whose businesses hinge upon this level of performance. With today's announcement, EMC is pushing the Rack-Scale Flash envelope even further, by demonstrating that striping two D5 systems together with high performance databases in a single rack delivers 2X the IOPS, bandwidth and capacity; one-third the latency and a lower TCO than the fastest solution for databases on the market today. With this capability, customers will now be able to consolidate multiple data marts, accelerate high performance business intelligence applications, and impact time to value for many other high performance analytics applications around risk, security, intelligence, etc.
EMC also announced today, a new fully-engineered storage, networking and compute system that provides customers with a single pre-configured and optimized solution for their high-performance databases and data warehouses. The VCE VxRack System with DSSD will combine the unmatched performance of DSSD with VCE's heralded system availability, reliability, and productivity. This offers customers an accelerated time-to-value, with faster deployment and the ability to scale as their needs expand.
Availability
DSSD's support for dual D5 systems with high performance databases and VxRack System with DSSD will be available in the second half of 2016. For more information, please visit the EMC DSSD web site.

Turtle Beach Reinvents eSports Gaming Headsets With The Elite Pro - A New Benchmark For Competitive Gaming Audio Performance And Comfort
Online Rumors Confirmed - eSports Powerhouse OpTic Gaming has Partnered with Turtle Beach to use the Elite Pro as OpTic's Official Gaming Audio Gear of Choice
SAN DIEGO, May 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- A decade ago Turtle Beach Corporation (NASDAQ: HEAR), a leading audio technology company for over 40 years, pioneered the console gaming headset category and is set to do so again in 2016 with its revolutionary Turtle Beach(®) Elite Pro Tournament Gaming Headset, Elite Pro Tactical Audio Controller (T.A.C.) and Elite Pro accessories designed for competitive gamers, which establishes a new standard for eSports gaming audio performance and comfort. Turtle Beach's "Elite" series products represent the highest level in audio and build quality, and the all-new Elite Pro Headset, T.A.C. and Elite Pro accessories are the Company's all-new line of competitive gaming audio gear created to meet the demands of today's professional and aspiring pro teams and players.
The Elite Pro Headset's journey began in 2013. Seeing the consistent growth and popularity of eSports, Turtle Beach launched a comprehensive scientific research program to deeply examine the needs of professional and hardcore gamers as it pertained to game audio, communicating with teammates, and overall comfort. The result is the all-new Elite Pro Tournament Gaming Headset - a ground-up redesign of the competitive gaming headset that brings to market multiple first-and-only innovations in the core mechanics of headset design, weight and fit. Not only does the Elite Pro Headset provide Turtle Beach's best-in-class game audio and chat performance, but also delivers groundbreaking comfort-driven technologies, including the ComforTec(TM) Fit System with multiple adjustment points for a truly personalized headset fit and feel, Aerofit(TM) Ear Cushions that stay cool in the heat of battle, and Turtle Beach's all-new patented ProSpecs(TM) Glasses Relief System that finally makes wearing a gaming headset comfortable for players who wear glasses.
Additionally, the Elite Pro T.A.C. is the most powerful audio controller ever designed for eSports, combining cutting-edge audio technology like DTS(TM) Headphone:X 7.1 Surround Sound and Superhuman Hearing(TM) with incredibly powerful chat and microphone tuning tools, giving eSports athletes everything they need to win. The Elite Pro Headset, T.A.C. and accessories are planned to launch globally this summer, and are currently available for pre-order starting today at participating retail outlets worldwide.
"Part of Turtle Beach's core DNA is driving innovation that benefits gamers. Given that we invented the console gaming headset space many years ago, we felt it was only natural for us to reinvent the gaming headset for the current era of eSports to meet the expectations of today's competitive gamers," said Juergen Stark, CEO, Turtle Beach Corporation.
Stark continued, "There are plenty of great gaming headsets and audio gear out there, but we saw the need to drive fundamental innovation to make it better for eSports. We spent the past three years developing the Elite Pro Headset, T.A.C. and accessories, working with industry experts and eSports aficionados to ensure we thought of everything. And once we felt like we had it right, we spent months refining every detail to make it perfect. The fact that OpTic Gaming - one of the best pro gaming organizations in the world - chose to partner with us because of the Elite Pro just goes to show this is another game-changing line of products from #TeamTurtleBeach that brings true innovation to the market."
Fully supporting this step-change in competitive gaming audio accessories, OpTic Gaming - one of the most prolific eSports organizations in the world - selected Turtle Beach and the all-new Elite Pro line as their official gaming audio gear of choice. Through this new partnership, OpTic's Championship Call of Duty, Halo and Counter Strike: Global Offensive teams will begin using the Elite Pro Headset, T.A.C. and other accessories as they continue to dominate the competitive gaming circuit. OpTic Gaming's first event using the new Elite Pro setup will be as the defending Call of Duty champions at this year's eSports World Convention which takes place later this week, May 6-8, 2016 in Paris, France.
Hector Rodrigues, Team Manager for OpTic Gaming commented, "Everybody knows Turtle Beach. They've been around forever and have some great gaming headsets, so they definitely piqued our curiosity when they told us they were working on a top-secret eSports headset we'd be interested in seeing. So we invited Turtle Beach to the OpTic Gaming house here in Chicago to see what they had in store for us, and the moment they brought out the Elite Pro Headset, T.A.C. and other gear we knew simply by looking at everything that this was a vast departure from what we were expecting. The more we explored and played with the Elite ProHeadset's features - like the cooling ear cushions, the adjustment you can make to the ear-cups for players who wear glasses, or how you can adjust the overall fit on your head - the more we knew it was revolutionary, and something that the OpTic teams would absolutely want to use. Turtle Beach brought their A-game with the Elite Pro, no questions asked."
Turtle Beach's all-new Elite Pro line defines the future of eSports gaming audio equipment, delivering best-in-class audio performance for game sound and team chat, plus innovative comfort-driven technologies to ensure players stay comfortable and cool under fire.
The Elite Pro Tournament Gaming Headset's all-new 50mm Nanoclear(TM) speakers deliver more efficient, crisper audio with less distortion for a game-changing sound experience, while the Pro Gaming Microphone with TruSpeak(TM) Technology provides crystal clear chat to ensure team communication is always heard loud and clear. Comfort-wise, the Elite Pro Headset debuts Turtle Beach's latest groundbreaking gaming headset innovations:
-- ComforTec Fit System - A revolutionary adjustment system allowing
players to truly personalize the fit of the headset to their preference.
This includes unique tension controls to adjust the tightness of the
headset, plus a floating headband that perfectly distributes the Elite
Pro Headset's weight across the head, and a separate head-size
adjustment - all combined to allow gamers independent control of the
ear-cup position and headband tension for the first time ever.
-- Aerofit Ear Cushions - Where groundbreaking material technologies
combine to provide the best of both worlds when it comes to competitive
gaming and comfort. The ear pads are wrapped in smooth Asahi spandex
fabric combined with unique cooling gel-infused memory foam that keeps
players cooler for longer. Additionally, separate internal and external
leather sidewalls on the ear-cups isolate the acoustic chambers for
better sound while blocking out external noise like the roar of the
crowd.
-- ProSpecs Glasses Relief System - Turtle Beach's patented system that
provides an easy adjustment built into the ear-cups to create a small
channel in the ear cushion allowing gamers who wear glasses to finally
play in comfort.
Additionally, the Elite ProHeadset comes with Customizable Speaker Plates that attach magnetically to the outside of the ear-cups, and includes the Circuit Pro(TM) Cable System that allows for quick and easy connections to all Elite Pro accessories through one easy, universal connection.
Further, the Elite Pro Tactical Audio Controller offers much more beyond DTS Headphone:X 7.1 Surround Sound and Superhuman Hearing. The T.A.C. has an all-new fingertip slide system that brings the power of a robust tournament grade gaming audio mixer under instant control, and includes breakthrough features such as the Background Noise Limiter on your microphone and the Outbound Mic Boost control, both built specifically for team play at eSports events. The T.A.C.'s Background Noise Limiter helps eliminate distractions via providing tunable mic levels, while the Outbound Mic Boost feature is there to ensure every word is heard loud and clear by teammates, even over the roar of the crowd during those crucial last-minute encounters that lead to victory. The Elite Pro T.A.C. can also be used as a full, external USB 7.1 Surround Sound card on your PC, and multiple T.A.C.s can quickly and easily be daisy-chained together using standard Ethernet cables to form a LAN chat network anywhere.
And when combined with the optional Elite Pro accessories (each sold separately), gamers will have in their possession the absolute ultimate pro gaming audio setup designed to help them win. Additional Elite Pro accessories include:
-- Elite Pro Tournament Noise-Cancelling Microphone - A breakthrough active
noise-cancelling microphone built for eSports. Add the Elite Pro
Tournament Noise-Cancelling Microphone to the Elite Pro Headset and
T.A.C. for game-changing chat performance that isolates the
high-sensitivity microphone from the roar of the crowd.
-- Elite Pro Tactical Audio Adapter for Xbox One - Turtle Beach's Elite Pro
Tactical Audio Adapter for Xbox One offers players features including
Superhuman Hearing, Dynamic Chat Boost(TM), Bass Boost, Mic Monitoring
and Turtle Beach's signature audio presets.
-- Elite Pro A.M.P. for PlayStation(®)4 - The Elite Pro A.M.P. for
PlayStation 4 is the perfect home gaming companion to the Turtle Beach
Elite Headset, adding powerful amplified audio from your PS4(TM) or
PS3(TM) console, plus Microphone Monitoring so you can hear your own
voice in the headset to avoid shouting.

Digi International Unveils New Wireless Food Temperature Monitoring Solution
Digi Honeycomb Solution Features Bluetooth Wireless Food Probe; Combines Hardware, Software and Services to Help Adhere to Food Safety Standards, Reduce Labor Costs and Minimize Shrinkage
MINNETONKA, Minn., May 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Digi International®, (NASDAQ: DGII, http://www.digi.com), a leading global provider of mission-critical machine-to-machine (M2M) and IoT connectivity products and services, today introduced Digi Honeycomb(TM), an easy to deploy, reliable and cost effective service that continuously and wirelessly monitors the temperature of perishable goods, alerting users if the proper temperature is not maintained. With Digi Honeycomb, restaurants, grocers, convenience stores, warehouses and transportation companies can now prevent spoilage and loss, lower labor costs, and comply with public health requirements and food safety regulations.
A subscription-based service, Digi Honeycomb is comprised of hand-held probes, wireless sensors, gateways and software that allow temperature data to be monitored, logged, and retrieved, and be easily integrated into back-office systems. In delivering a complete solution that encompasses front-of-house and back-of-house environments, Digi Honeycomb allows organizations in the perishable food industry to address major challenges including food safety, chain-of-custody verification, loss prevention (shrinkage), proof of compliance, and labor costs.
"Our customers in the food service industry have their own set of unique challenges that span operational and food safety requirements," said Kevin C. Riley, chief operating officer, Digi International. "We have created a highly automated service that allows organizations to address the day-to-day issues of maintaining food quality and safety while lowering costs and achieving overarching goals of high customer satisfaction and brand reputation."
Peace of Mind through Automated Oversight
Digi Honeycomb is an NSF certified and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) traceable solution that continuously, wirelessly and automatically monitors the temperature of food to allow food service organizations to adhere to performance thresholds and inspect individual systems. Automatic alerts can be set for all types of temperatures (frozen, refrigerated, ambient, hot-holding) and to issue alerts whenever temperature exceptions occur.
A flexible solution, Digi Honeycomb is comprised of Bluetooth enabled hand-held probes, small wireless sensors, wireless gateways, and applications:
-- Honeycomb Probe and Temperature Application: Unlike most probes that
simply allow users to read current temperature, the Honeycomb probe
works in conjunction with the Honeycomb temperature application to
dramatically simplify the process of probing and monitoring the
temperature of food items. With interchangeable probe tips for measuring
a wide range of temperature applications, the Honeycomb probe is a
wireless, food-grade device automatically activated by a change in
temperature. Temperatures gathered with the Honeycomb probe are
wirelessly delivered to the Honeycomb temperature application, typically
installed on an Android or iOS tablet. The temperature application
guides employees through the step-by-step process of probing, approving
and submitting data to the Honeycomb solution. The application contains
all food items needing to be probed and allows the user to log
corrective actions for products outside of acceptable temperature range.
-- Honeycomb Sensors: Sensors can be installed in a variety of
front-of-house and back-of-house equipment such as walk-in refrigerators
and freezers, undercounter coolers, showcase units and sandwich lines.
In addition to temperature monitoring, the solution can be designed to
identify when door exceptions and potential equipment failure (e.g.,
stuck in defrost cycle) occurs.
-- Honeycomb Gateway: Installed in front-of-house and back-of-house
locations, the Honeycomb gateway collects and uploads all temperature
data to the Honeycomb solution for processing, eliminating the need for
staff to manually record or enter temperatures into a computer at a
later time. This data is then accessible by the Honeycomb application on
a mobile device or laptop or for integrating into back-office systems.
-- Honeycomb Application: A dashboard application for managers to monitor
and review the temperatures of all refrigeration equipment, the
application provides alerts and warnings of equipment irregularities and
temperature analytics for all store equipment containing Honeycomb
sensors. Accessible via mobile device or PC, Digi Honeycomb can provide
a variety of reports and views. Organizations can easily produce
process-based compliance reports for documentation to be accessible
during regulatory inspections, recover historical temperatures that
occurred during power outages, and view the summary status of groups of
devices.
Digi Cold Chain solutions consulting staff employ a three-step approach to ensure a successful implementation. First, Digi conducts a site survey and completes hardware and software installation. Secondly, organizations receive usability training, and Digi confirms monitoring and report requirements. Finally, Digi works collaboratively to ensure ROI goals are being met.
Digi Honeycomb is available in a variety of subscription-based models for retail Quick Service Restaurant (QSR), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and NIST environments, and requires no capital expense. Hardware and software is included as part of the subscription with information hosted on servers managed by Digi International. For more information visit: http://www.digi.com/cold-chain-solutions.

SPYR's Pocket Starships Game Provides Opportunity For Significant Sustained Revenue Growth
DENVER, May 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- SPYR, INC. (OTCQB: SPYR), a holding company with wholly owned subsidiaries in the mobile game, app development & publishing industry, and in the restaurant industry today explained its previously announced deal to publish Pocket Starships, a Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) game (http://www.pocketstarships.com) through its subsidiary SPYR APPS, LLC.
On January 21, 2016, SPYR announced its deal with Spectacle Games to publish Pocket Starships, a free-to-play cross-platform (PC and Mobile) MMO game where players can build and pilot numerous starships in real-time space battles, recruit players and form strong alliances, and battle with and against thousands of other players worldwide on a quest for galactic domination. (http://ir.spyr.com/press-releases/detail/119/spyr-signs-deal-to-publish-and-market-popular-pocket)
Since the beginning of the year, Spectacle has been developing updates for the game and the SPYR team has been working on its marketing plan, both of which will be implemented soon. The combination of those efforts is expected to result in significantly increased revenue and user growth.
What Pocket Starships has that other MMOs do not, however, is a combination of real-time and cross-platform play, meaning that players of Pocket Starships are playing with each other in real time on both mobile and web-based hardware (smartphones, tablets, PCs and Macs) and platforms (iOS, Android, Kindle, Windows).
Paul Thind, SPYR's Managing Director of Mobile Games and Applications commented: "We are not aware of any other game that can be played in real time on mobile phones and tablets and on desktop and laptop computers. This unique aspect of Pocket Starships will allow us to market the game to a much larger audience than most, and it will allow for lower user acquisition costs because it costs less to acquire a PC or Mac web-based player than it does to acquire a mobile user. Also, because MMO titles are typically developed for non-mobile platforms, Pocket Starships affords SPYR the unique opportunity to bring MMO gaming concepts to the mobile world."
SPYR's teaming with Spectacle Games as the developer is a significant accomplishment for SPYR APPS. The principals of Spectacle Games are electronic game industry veterans that have worked on some of the most successful MMO games in the past few years, such as World of Tanks (2015 revenue = $446M; 2014 revenue = approx. $400M; 2013 revenue = $475M). SPYR's Paul Thind is using the same formula that brought about these impressive user base and revenue numbers for others with SPYR APPS in its plan for Pocket Starships.
With full funding allocated for the plan, the Company anticipates releasing revenue projections for SPYR compiled by Spectacle Games, which will set forth Pocket Starships' potential revenue and profitability, by the end of the third quarter.
SPYR APPS and Spectacle Games anticipate that a small content patch for Pocket Starships will be launched sometime in May and the first new large content patch for Pocket Starships will be launched in August, with additional content updates currently scheduled to be developed and released every 3-4 months. Typically, with games of this genre, content updates translate to an increase in game revenue.

SAN JOSE, Calif., May 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CDNS) today announced the new Cadence® Tensilica® Vision P6 digital signal processor (DSP), Cadence's highest-performing vision/imaging processor, which extends the Tensilica product portfolio further into the fast-growing vision/deep learning applications areas. New instructions, increased math throughput and other enhancements set a new standard in imaging and computer vision benchmarks, increasing performance by up to 4X compared to the Tensilica Vision P5 DSP.
The Tensilica Vision P6 DSP quadruples multiply-accumulate (MAC) performance compared to the previous generation Vision P5 DSP, targeting convolutional neural network (CNN) applications which are dominated by available MAC performance. Compared to commercially available GPUs, the Tensilica Vision P6 DSP can achieve twice the frame rate at much lower power consumption on a typical neural network implementation. For a wide range of other key vision functions, such as convolution, FIR filters and matrix multiplication, the Tensilica Vision P6 DSP increases performance by up to 4X by utilizing its improved 8-bit and 16-bit arithmetic, making it an ideally suited DSP for CNN applications. In addition, the Tensilica Vision P6 implements on-the-fly data compression to sharply reduce memory footprint and bandwidth requirements for demanding "fully connected" neural network layers.
The Tensilica Vision P6 DSP builds on the momentum of the market-leading Vision P5 DSP, which has already been designed-in by two of the leading mobile phone application processor vendors. Compatible with the Vision P5 DSP, this newest vision DSP offers an optional 32-way SIMD vector floating-point unit that includes the IEEE half precision standard (FP16). Floating-point performance capability is double that of the Vision P5 DSP, enabling easy use of existing floating-point neural network implementations.
The advances in the Tensilica Vision P6 DSP further improve the ease of software development and porting, with comprehensive support for integer, fixed-point and floating-point data types and an advanced toolchain with a proven auto-vectorizing C compiler. The software environment also features complete support for standard OpenCV and OpenVX libraries, enabling fast, high-level migration of existing imaging/vision applications with support of over 1000 library functions. Early customer engagements on the Tensilica Vision P6 DSP are expected to begin in late June. For more information on the Tensilica Vision P6 DSP, contact your Cadence representative or visit http://www.cadence.com/news/TensilicaVisionP6.
"Cadence is investing heavily on advanced vision and deep learning," said Chris Rowen, CTO for the IP Group at Cadence. "We are devoting intense efforts to discovering improved structures and training for neural networks, providing rich software environments for fast application development and offering breakthrough vision DSP architectures for embedded vision and learning deployment. The Tensilica Vision P6 design is the direct result of this investment and significantly raises the bar in both vision efficiency and scalability."
"We have been working closely with Cadence to develop CNN-based vision applications. Features such as wide vector SIMD processing, VLIW instructions, and fast histogram and scatter/gather intrinsics make it an ideal platform for demanding CNN algorithms," said A. G. K. Karunakaran, president and CEO of Multicoreware. "The Tensilica Vision DSP's performance characteristics, combined with its highly tuned image processing libraries and robust development environment, enabled a power-efficient implementation of our algorithms and shortened our development cycle. We are excited to continue working with Cadence on their next-generation Vision P6 DSP."
"Devices that are more aware of the world around them are more capable, more autonomous, safer and easier to use," said Jeff Bier, founder of the Embedded Vision Alliance. "By enabling widespread deployment of deep learning and computer vision, processors like the Tensilica Vision P6 DSP are making the promise of more intelligent devices a reality."
The Tensilica Vision P6 DSP is based on the Cadence Tensilica Xtensa® architecture, and combines flexible hardware choices with a library of vision/imaging DSP functions and numerous vision/imaging applications from our established ecosystem partners. It also shares the comprehensive Tensilica partner ecosystem for other applications software, emulation and probes, silicon and services and much more. Amerlux launches Lunetta: A beautiful revolution in exterior pedestrian lighting
SAN DIEGO, May 2, 2016 /CNW/ -- Integrating the utilitarian form factor of a post top lantern with the aesthetics of a glowing light stick, Amerlux introduces Lunetta as an innovative and impressive pedestrian-scale exterior luminaire family that self-illuminates a curved funnel shaped top head as well as the pole, creating a seamless, glare-free light post of varying heights. The new Lunetta family provides the perfect solution for illuminating exteriors of universities, healthcare centers, airports, science/technology facilities, office and government buildings, parks, and sports and entertainment venues.
"The beauty of Lunetta lies in its simplicity, breaking from convention by unifying both the head and post to become illuminated as one for a completely unique look in the exterior lighting landscape," explains Amerlux CEO/President Chuck Campagna. "Inspired by geometry and glare control principles, Lunetta uses a curvilinear three-dimensional form to create a shielding mechanism, resulting in a beautiful lamp post with low-glare, soft Lambertian illumination."
The luminaire's top cap is equipped with recessed high-performance LEDs aimed downward, grazing the top and pole with a beautiful gradating lighting effect. The light distribution at ground level delivers a soft, Lambertian moonlight-comparable glow, perfect for demarcating entry roadways, plazas, pedestrian paths and sidewalks. The luminaire family accommodates mounting heights from 16" to 24'. Additionally, the product's energy efficiency is significant and its associated uplight contribution is minimal.
"Before Lunetta, exterior public pathway lighting existed in two form factors-- a lantern atop a pole with a sharply contrasting bright head and dark pole or a glowing stick that cannot achieve significant performance criteria," continued Mr. Campagna. "Lunetta embodies the best of both designs, creating a sophisticated seamless visual effect with high performance and substantial lumen output."

Intelligent Lighting Will Make Boring Presentations a Thing of the Past
In The Event Brings More Innovative Technology to Their Events
SALT LAKE CITY, May 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In The Event, an event rental and production company based out of Salt Lake City, has expanded their tech offerings with new intelligent lighting inventory.
Gone are the days of drab PowerPoints unenthusiastically projected behind a presenter. New technology allows In The Event to bring exciting "eye candy" to any event, turning typical presentations into an unforgettable experience.
"It gives them what we call 'eye candy' in the room," explains founder and CEO Robert LaSpina. "It's something to look at, something to see, that's unique and moving and changing colors. It's called pixel mapping, and now we can pixel map to all of our lights and everything we do."
In The Event uses wireless German-based lights, so the new inventory can communicate seamlessly with the products they were already using to enliven events. With their new ChamSys MagicQ MQ80 board, In The Event is in complete control over their lighting, lasers, and foggers.
Of the ChamSys board, LaSpina says, "This board rocks. It's got universes so you can run multiple lights and multiple heads, you control everything off of one console."
Another plus? The board integrates with In The Event's Vectorworks program that let's them design events in a 3D map before taking a single piece of equipment to the venue.
"When we're building shows out, we're putting our lights in our drawings and we're actually turning them on in the drawing and programing them in the drawing," says LaSpina. This means all event managers or presenters have to do is "hit play."
Other technology In The Event purchased includes Rosco foggers and hazers, "The best foggers in the world," says LaSpina, and German Light Products (GLP) moving head lights, moving head consoles, and lasers.
"It's our next step in inventory and types of products that we want to rent out," says LaSpina. "Now we consider ourselves a high-end lighting house."
The demand for these types of technologies is high. When In The Event found themselves renting these items from other companies regularly, they decided to take charge and bring this technology in-house.
Opportunities for innovative lighting technology are endless. Whether a brand wants to display their logo, start up a dance party, or present moving images in crystal-clear clarity, they can with this technology at the helm.
In The Event has already marked themselves as innovators in the local and national event industry with their custom-made LED modular furniture, and this step has only solidified that reputation.
As more innovative companies and ideas move to Utah, In The Event will be ready to catch these creatives and make their ideas come true. But creative potential aside, as LaSpina puts it, this technology is "just really, really cool."

Cavium Unveils OCTEON TX(TM): Industry's widest range of 64-bit ARM®-based SOCs for a broad spectrum of open, services-centric applications in enterprise and service provider infrastructure
SOCs with 1 to 24 enhanced ARMv8.1 cores, rich ecosystem for control plane applications and hardware acceleration for data plane
SAN JOSE, Calif., May 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Cavium, Inc. (NASDAQ: CAVM), a leading provider of products that enable secure and intelligent processing for enterprise, data center, cloud, wired and wireless networking, today unveiled OCTEON TX, a complete line of 64-bit ARM based SOCs for control plane and data plane applications in networking, security, and storage. This new product line is composed of 4 product families - CN80XX, CN81XX, CN82XX and CN83XX with 1 to 24 full custom, enhanced 64-bit ARM v8.1 cores, providing the industry's broadest range of highly integrated 64-bit ARM SOC products for a wide variety of embedded processing applications. The OCTEON TX expands the addressability of Cavium's embedded products into control plane application areas within enterprise, service provider, data center networking and storage that need support of extensive software ecosystem and virtualization features. This product line is also optimized to run multiple concurrent data and control planes simultaneously for security and router appliances, NFV and SDN infrastructure, service provider CPE, wireless transport, NAS, storage controllers, IOT gateways, printer and industrial applications.
The networks of the future are striving to become more open and application centric to enable service expansion and increase monetization. In this open network, the control plane needs to run commercial software distributions and operating systems (e.g., RHEL, Canonical and Java SE), support open source applications (e.g., OpenStack, OpenFlow and Quagga), launch services dynamically and run customer specific services. The data plane is also challenged to support concurrent coexistence of multiple types of high performance data plane applications for firewall, content delivery, routing, and traffic management. The bandwidth demanded for these data planes in networks is also exploding driven by multimedia 4K content and applications, exabytes of storage mirrored across Cloud and Enterprise, real time data acquisition, and rapid growth of connected devices in the IOT world. The threats inside these open networks of cloud and enterprise are becoming increasingly sophisticated and vulnerabilities are becoming more exposed with the connectivity of millions of unsecured IOT devices.
The OCTEON SOC architecture already has established market leadership in data plane application performance and efficiency. While current OCTEON SOCs are used in applications for data plane as well as control plane with embedded software, control plane applications requiring wider software ecosystem and support traditionally have been addressed by the x86 architecture. The open, service centric networks need lower-cost alternatives for control plane, and superior ecosystem and networking performance for data plane. The ARM architecture is able to service these critical needs.
The OCTEON TX ARM 64-bit SOC family of processors combine the best in class data plane performance of the OCTEON® SOC family, and the rich software ecosystem and virtualization features, extended support of open source applications and highly optimized custom ARMv8.1 CPU cores of the ThunderX® family. It also integrates Cavium's flagship security architecture from the NITROX® V security processor family. With this unique combination of performance, features and interfaces, the OCTEON TX provides an excellent solution for service centric networks and addresses additional application areas in the embedded processor market. The OCTEON TX offers a software compatible, scalable product family to meet the wide range of price, power and performance requirements of various end markets such as virtual CPE, wireless transport, NAS, storage appliances and controllers, IOT gateways, industrial control, SMB routers, security appliances, data center accelerators, data center appliances and various control plane applications.
