Qualcomm aptX HD Delivers High Resolution Audio over Bluetooth
-Enhanced Audio Codec Helps Manufacturers make Wireless HD Audio a Reality-
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) today announced that its subsidiary, Qualcomm Technologies International, Ltd., launched Qualcomm® aptX(TM) HD, a newly enhanced codec that offers 24 bit music quality over a Bluetooth® wireless connection. Building on the existing aptX audio codec platform, which revolutionized the Bluetooth stereo listening experience, aptX HD is designed to enable audio manufacturers to meet the increasing demand for high resolution wireless audio.
"aptX transformed the Bluetooth stereo audio ecosystem, providing near CD-quality audio without the need for wires, and consumers now seek out the quality the aptX brand has come to represent," said Anthony Murray, senior vice president and general manager, IoE, Qualcomm Technologies International, Ltd. "Today consumers enjoy the benefits and freedom of wireless audio on the wide variety of aptX enabled devices available but demand for higher resolution audio is growing to fulfill the desire for the most premium listening experience possible. With aptX HD, we are helping device manufacturers to reduce development time and quickly meet demand."
aptX HD is immediately available as part of the CSR8675 Bluetooth audio SoC platform which supports 24 bit audio end-to-end. As with aptX, aptX HD is designed to address the challenge of sending high quality audio wirelessly over Bluetooth by compressing the large audio files so that they can be transmitted through the wireless pipeline without affecting the listening experience quality. To ensure a seamless consumer experience, and to interact with the millions of aptX enabled devices already available, the enhanced codec retains backward compatibility with all Bluetooth devices containing 'classic' aptX.
aptX audio technology has a long history in the pro-audio and broadcast ecosystems. The technology is used to deliver high quality audio in over 30,000 radio stations and 20,000 cinemas across the world. In 2009, aptX was introduced to consumer electronics to provide quality wireless audio - and today, has been adopted by over 320 leading audio brands making it available in millions of headphones, speakers, soundbars, automotive and other Bluetooth audio products worldwide. It's also widely enabled in mobile devices and is now available in flagship Android smartphones and tablets from Samsung, Sony, HTC, Motorola and LG, as well as in other operating systems including Windows 10, MAC OS X and Blackberry.
"aptX was one of the first technologies to bring pro-audio quality to wireless consumer devices and has become synonymous with superior sound quality. The technology will continue to evolve as we invest in further innovation to ensure it meets the future needs of our customers," concludes Anthony Murray.

Pro Pedigree, DX Agility: The New Nikon D500 Establishes A New Era Of DX-Format Performance
The Highly Anticipated Resurrection of the DX-Format Flagship Gives Photographers the Best Combination of Speed, Reach and Connectivity
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Nikon Inc. announced the D500, a DX-format DSLR with pro-level features that gives photographers nimble handling, speed and extreme processing power in a compact and lightweight body. With amazing imaging capability, robust build quality and lightning fast performance, the D500 is sure to satisfy as the highly sought-after successor to the venerable D300S. Like its sibling the D5, the D500 benefits from Nikon's latest technological innovations such as the totally new, blazing-fast Multi-CAM 20K 153-point AF system and 4K UHD video capture, yet adds a fun new way to share photos with Nikon SnapBridge built-in.
"Nikon has answered the call from photographers to once again re-invent this camera category and offer an unmatched combination of performance and value that is hard for any photographer to resist," said Masahiro Horie, Director of Marketing and Planning, Nikon Inc. "When paired with the amazing imaging capabilities of legendary NIKKOR optics, photographers can capture intimate portraits, mind-blowing macros or action from extreme distances- the possibilities are endless."
Pro-Level Image Quality, DX-Format Versatility
The D500 imagines the best of both worlds, offering advanced enthusiasts and pro photographers all the benefits of DX-format, such as smaller form-factor and lens crop, combined with many of the same advanced pro features found in the new Nikon D5. The new Nikon D500 features an all-new 20.9-megapixel DX-format CMOS sensor that renders images with outstanding colors and gorgeous tonality. This new sensor is coupled with Nikon's new EXPEED 5 image processing engine, affording low noise and maximum processing power with a surprisingly small footprint and superbly balanced body.
The benefits of the DX-format are evident for long-distance applications like wildlife and sports photography, where telephoto ability is at a premium and weight reduction is welcome. With Nikon's legendary FX or smaller-sized DX-format NIKKOR lenses, the sleek D500 is the ideal companion for wanderlust. When mated with the new AF-S NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR lens, the D500 offers a remarkable 350-750mm equivalent focal range for a lightweight, yet super-telephoto duo.
Because amazing images can happen even when the sun goes down, the D500 is capable of excellent low-light performance, with an ISO range of 100-51,200, expandable to 50-1,640,000 equivalent. From low-light cityscapes to action sports under the lights, the D500 is ready to tackle any imaging challenge.
Performance Meets Portability
Within the streamlined body of the D500 is a formidable processing powerhouse. Whether photographing sideline sports for the home team or animals in exotic destinations, a super-fast 10 frames-per-second (fps) burst speed with full AF and AE will help nail nearly any shot. This extreme speed lets users capture every fleeting moment in exceptional clarity, while a generous buffer allows for up to 79 shots (14-bit, uncompressed RAW/NEF) to be captured, so the moment won't be missed.
To keep pace with the action, the D500 is fitted with the same AF system as the Nikon D5, the Multi-CAM 20K AF sensor module, with a separate dedicated processor for AF function. On the D500's DX format sensor, the 153-point AF array fills the frame from side to side, letting users flawlessly track and lock-onto subjects from the edges of the viewfinder. Like the D5, the D500 utilizes the new 180K RGB Metering system and Advanced Scene Recognition System to help ensure balanced exposures and fantastic color rendition in nearly any shooting situation.
Controls and Rugged Construction Worthy of a Flagship
The D500 features an enhanced level of robust build quality, offering the same amount of rugged weather sealing as the Nikon D810. The durable body is a monocoque structure composed of magnesium alloy for the top and rear, while the front is reinforced with lightweight carbon fiber. The shutter mechanism has been tested for 200K actuations, helping to ensure maximum endurance. For further durability, the D500 excludes a pop-up flash, yet is compatible with Nikon's newest radio frequency capable flash, the SB-5000 Speedlight (with optional WR-R10 & WR-A10)(1).
It's easy to compose and view images on the D500's bright 3.2-inch, high resolution (2359K-dot) touchscreen LCD, which lets users interact with photos in playback, control the camera and operate menus. When mounted on a tripod or shooting from creative angles, landscape and event shooters will appreciate the reinforced tilting LCD screen, similar to that of the Nikon D750. Additionally, images are rapidly written to either a fast XQD card slot or to the additional SD card slot for maximum workflow efficiency.
Constant Connectivity with the New Nikon SnapBridge
The D500 marshals in a new way to share photos wirelessly with the new Nikon SnapBridge, making the camera's built-in connectivity easier to use than ever before. SnapBridge allows for Bluetooth(2 )supported connection between your camera and compatible smart device, thus making automatic upload of your images possible. Once enabled, the camera stays connected to the smart device and transfers photos, eliminating the need to re-connect devices. Those looking to share images from their travels or from the field can also tag images for transfer in camera and can password protect their connection for added security. As an added benefit, the D500's built-in Near Field Communication (NFC)(3 )capability easily connects the camera to a compatible smart device with just a tap, while built-in Wi-Fi(3) capability allows for faster wireless image transfer.
For those looking for an even faster transfer solution, the D500 is also compatible with the new optional WT-7A Wireless Transmitter, enabling wired or wireless transmission of files to an FTP server or computer at faster speeds.
Advanced Video Features
Just like the D5, the D500 has the ability to capture striking 4K UHD video at up to 30p (3840x2160), as well as Full HD (1080p) video at a variety of frame rates. Ready for any production, the camera sports a host of pro video features derived from the D810, including uncompressed HDMI output and Picture Controls, but adds even more great features. These pro-level creative video features include the ability to create 4K time-lapse movies in-camera, Auto ISO smoothing to provide fluid transitions in exposure during recording, and the capability to record 4K UHD video to the card and output to HDMI simultaneously. When capturing 1080p Full HD content, the camera also has a new 3-axis electronic VR feature that can be activated regardless of the lens being used. Challenging video exposures are no problem for the D500, as it also adds in Active D-Lighting to Full HD video to balance exposure values within a scene to help prevent blown-out highlights
Price and Availability
The new Nikon D500 DSLR will be available in March 2016 for a suggested retail price (SRP) of $1,999.95* for the body-only configuration. A kit will also be available, bundled with the versatile AF-S DX NIKKOR 16-80mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED VR lens, for the SRP of $3,069.95*. Endless Unveils The Endless mini To Bring The Next Five Billion People Into The Information Age
Priced at $79, Endless Solves the Cost Barriers to Computers in Emerging Markets
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Endless, creator of revolutionary Endless computer and operating system, today announced the Endless mini, the world's first fully functioning desktop PC designed/created to bring the next three billion people into the information age.
Priced at $79, the Endless mini is an elegantly designed desktop computer that's simple for anyone to use. Endless was able to achieve this incredible price by using an ARM architecture, the same processor commonly found in a smartphone, tablet and Apple TV.
While computers in the developed world are personal devices, computers in emerging economies are family devices, and so the Endless mini is designed to work well on any kind of television screen.
Low price is not the primary feature that Endless says its consumers want. The bigger obstacle facing people in emerging markets is one of internet connectivity. Their goal was to make a computer useful on limited data plans, and even without any internet at all. Matt Dalio, CEO and Chief of Product, says, "The mini comes preloaded with a 'miniature internet.' Health information, recipes, Khan Academy, Wikipedia are loaded inside of every device we ship. Internet is a barrier that is not being solved fast enough. Our goal is to make it so that the world doesn't have to wait for that."
Matt cites examples of current Endless users, "A few weeks ago I met Marcia, a high schooler in Guatemala whose life trajectory changed completely because of Endless. She was able to return to school, able to complete her homework with the information resources inside of Endless. She is now valedictorian of her class. When I visited Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan, I met a teenager who used Endless to create a local magazine that he circulates to the entire refugee camp."
Endless will also sell the mini in the United States, with a focus on areas without reliable or affordable internet connections. Shockingly, over 40 million Americans are unable to access the internet. Some live in rural areas with weak internet infrastructure, and others aren't able to afford the monthly cost.
As the world shifts online, Endless hopes this new product can be a key catalyst in bringing the unconnected into the information age. The Endless mini will provide people in remote areas of the world the opportunity to learn different languages, develop technical skills and build businesses. "Endless hopes to ignite innovation on a global scale," said Matt Dalio. "Two thirds of the world can now join the technology revolution." Matt concludes, "We wanted every person in the world to be able to afford a virtual library. We have been working towards this for years now, and with the Endless mini we achieved that."
Key features include:
The Endless mini is available in two different models and key features include:
-- Affordable: Built by world-class engineering talent, Endless mini is the
most affordable, fully functioning and elegantly designed desktop
computer, at only $79.

2GB of RAM
-- Safe: Built upon the stability of a Linux core, the Endless OS is one of
the safest operating systems in the world. Never worry about anti-virus
software again.
"The Endless mini has the potential to deliver affordable desktop computing to the majority of people on the planet, addressing the digital inequality that affects billions," said Dominic Vergine, head of sustainability and corporate responsibility, ARM. "Based on ARM Cortex-A processor technology, the device shares the same engineering heritage as the world's mobile phones and we have been working hard with the Endless team to ensure that the product is as efficient, robust and capable as possible. This is truly a product that has been designed with its core audience in mind and we congratulate the talented Endless engineers on their ingenuity."

New Wireless Charging Tech at CES 2016; BEZALEL Previews First iPhone Universal Charging Solution
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobile device users are ready to power up with wireless charging, but many device manufacturers - including Apple - are waiting until the war over competing charging standards (Qi vs. PMA) is resolved. In the meantime, most consumers remain tethered to their power cords.
Los Angeles-based BEZALEL is determined to help end the reliance on power cords via new wireless charging technology that will be previewed this week at CES 2016 in Las Vegas.
Products at BEZALEL's CES booth (Sands Expo Center, Hall G #81355) include the first universal (i.e., dual-standard or dual-mode) wireless charging case for the iPhone. Called the Latitude, this one-of-a-kind case enables iPhone users to power up wirelessly using any charger that employs either the Qi or PMA charging standard.
"The latest iPhones are packed with features, but wireless charging isn't one of them," said BEZALEL CEO and Co-Founder Frank Wu. "The Latitude case enables iPhone users to use any wireless charger, whether it's a PMA charging mat at Starbucks or a Qi-based charger built into the center console of a Toyota."
With its universal compatibility, the Latitude powers up the iPhone at all public places and in all products that offer wireless charging. The number of such locations and products is growing rapidly. Those currently using the QI standard include McDonalds, IKEA (select furniture) and Toyota/Lexus vehicles; those using PMA include Starbucks, Delta Airlines and select GM vehicles.
"The Latitude is the first and only wireless charging solution that doesn't make iPhone users pick a side in the war over competing standards," added Wu.
The Latitude made its debut on Kickstarter last year, and is now available for pre-sale on the BEZALEL website (http://bezalel.co/pages/latitude). It will soon be available widely via Amazon, as well as through retail partners internationally. It comes in black and white for the iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s and 6s Plus, and includes a durable Lightning cable connector that lets users synch and charge their iPhone the old fashioned way. The cost is $49.90 for iPhone 6/6s and $59.90 for iPhone 6 Plus/6s Plus.
At CES, BEZALEL will also feature its flagship Prelude fully-mobile (rechargeable) wireless charger, as well as its new Qi wireless charging pad (5V -2A USB Input, Size: 100 x 10mm), both of which power up a range of mobile devices - from smartphones and tablets to wearables.
About Bezalel
Los Angeles-based BEZALEL was founded in 2013 to design and manufacture wireless charging technology that lets mobile device users ditch the power cord, both at home and on-the-go. After completing the USC Viterbi School of Engineering's renowned Start-Up Garage incubator program, the company conducted an initial Kickstarter campaign named one of the Top 10 of 2014. Its debut products include the Prelude fully-mobile (i.e., rechargeable) wireless charger, and the Latitude first-of-its-kind dual-mode (Qi and PMA) wireless charging case for the iPhone. The Mate 8 has a wide range of new features that help the device stand out from the competition. A new generation of fingerprint technology allows the phone to be both smart and secure; for example, the fingerprint-recognition system will make online mobile purchases easier and faster than ever before.
Users can also expect a revolution in mobile photography, thanks to three years of research and development. Huawei has developed the first 'proprietary image sensor processor' which will give users faster focusing, higher clarity and more accurate colours to their photography.
An 8 megapixel front camera has also been included on the device, enabling the perfect selfie. The camera has been further enhanced by a new beauty algorithm to enhance skin tones in photographs.
In so many ways, the device is also more intuitive than ever before, not least with the business card-scanning capability. This allows for contacts to be added simply by capturing a business card with the phone's camera.
"When we envisioned the Huawei Mate 8, we knew we needed to deliver a device that offers global business professionals speed, convenience and connectivity in a beautifully designed package that stands out in a competitive landscape," said Kevin Ho, President of Huawei Handset BU - Huawei Consumer Business Group. "We're proud to deliver a smartphone that offers the performance and features needed to allow users to stay connected, stay productive and achieve more in every facet of their lives."
The Huawei Mate 8's enhanced processors allow all of the above and more to happen at the same time, without any drop in performance. This is perfect for today's user, who relentlessly multi-tasks between professional and personal duties. To demonstrate this, a new 'split-screen' mode allows for multiple apps to be visible and used at exactly the same time.
What's more, to ensure users aren't left high and dry, the Mate 8's battery gives users two days' usage, with turbocharging technology charging the Mate 8 to a day's charge in just 30 minutes. The result is a phone that works harder, quicker and much more seamlessly than anything else on the market.

EyeLock and Wistron NeWeb Corporation Announce Availability of Iris Authentication Module for Notebooks, Tablets, and All-in-Ones
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- 2016 CES LVCC Booth 10417 -EyeLock LLC, a market leader of iris-based identity authentication solutions, today announced the availability of the first iris module for PC products. Created in partnership with Wistron NeWeb Corporation (WNC) (TSE: 6285), a leading global original design manufacturer (ODM), the PC module uses EyeLock's iris identity authentication technology to provide users with seamless security for critical access points. The module will be on display in the VOXX International booth 10417 at the Consumer Electronics Show taking place January 6-9, 2016. VOXX International (NASDAQ: VOXX) acquired a majority interest in EyeLock in September 2015.
EyeLock and WNC have created a module with groundbreaking performance that includes the ability to authenticate an individual from as far away as 60cm. The module natively integrates into existing PC architectures, adding no weight or bulk to the device. Embedding award-winning technology from EyeLock allows iris identity authentication to be quickly adopted across a range of devices in a variety of markets.
EyeLock's advances in iris authentication have made it possible to incorporate this highly secure technology into consumer-oriented devices at scale without compromising the technology's accuracy or ease-of-use.
"EyeLock and WNC are making iris identity authentication technology accessible to people around the world on the devices they use every day," said Anthony Antolino, Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer for EyeLock LLC. "Our objective is to change the way people access and protect their identities and the information most important to them. Delivering embedded solutions across consumer products creates easy, safe and ubiquitous identity access to the devices and services we use most. Our partnership with WNC, one of the world's most recognized and innovative ODMs, is helping to make this a reality."
"Iris authentication technology is one of the most sought after integrated features in the market today," said Todd Goodnight, Senior Vice President, Global Business Development for WNC. "EyeLock's market leading technology is a valuable utility to OEM customers, the markets they serve and, ultimately, in helping consumers unlock even more capability from the devices and the services they bring to life. With WNC's vast reach in developing and manufacturing consumer and M2M products across networking, mobile, home, enterprise, automotive, satellite, wireless, and broadband markets, WNC is accelerating the time to market of this game-changing technology."
In November 2014, EyeLock announced a licensing agreement with WNC to embed EyeLock's patented iris authentication technology into a broad array of applications. The partnership established EyeLock as the first company to develop iris authentication technology in an ODM device.
Under the terms of the agreement, WNC will design, develop and market EyeLock-enabled modules that are sold to the market-at-large as well as incorporated into reference designs of devices for OEM customers.
EyeLock's technology provides an unprecedented level of convenience and security with unmatched biometric accuracy, making it the most proven way to authenticate one's identity aside from DNA. EyeLock developed and brought to market proprietary iris authentication technology that looks at more than 240 points in each eye, and is one of the only companies in the world to utilize dual-eye authentication.
The frequency and velocity of password breaches, data compromises and identity theft punctuates current systems' vulnerabilities and the need to move away from outdated security protocols. EyeLock's breakthrough technology coupled with WNC's design and manufacturing expertise helped to create a best-in-class solution that changes the way people work and live.
About EyeLock
EyeLock LLC is an acknowledged leader in advanced iris authentication for the Internet of Things (IoT), providing the highest level of security with EyeLock ID(TM) technology. Iris authentication is highly secure because no two irises are alike and the iris is the most accurate human identifier other than DNA. The company's significant IP portfolio, including more than 75 patents and patents pending, and proprietary technology enables the convenient and secure authentication of individuals across physical and logical environments. EyeLock's solutions have been integrated and embedded across consumer and enterprise products and platforms, eliminating the need for PINs and passwords. Corporations across the Fortune 500 recognize the level of security EyeLock provides due in part to its extremely low false acceptance rate, ease of use, and scalability. As a sponsor member of the Fast IDentity Online Alliance (FIDO), a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a safer and more secure digital presence for consumers, EyeLock is dedicated to advancing digital privacy and next generation security.

The New LUMIX DMC-ZS100 - Raising the Bar for Compact Travel Cameras
Panasonic's latest compact camera includes a 1-inch sensor and 4K functions for outstanding performance and usability on the go
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Panasonic announced today at CES 2016 the new LUMIX DMC-ZS100, a premium compact travel camera that boasts performance typically associated with expensive interchangeable lens models. Despite the camera's small size, the latest addition to the LUMIX ZS range combines a host of features and a powerful 10x zoom to make it the perfect travel companion for even the most demanding photographers and videographers.
A large 1-inch MOS sensor, one of the biggest of any camera in its class, combines with Panasonic's Venus engine to capture consistently bright and beautiful images wherever your travels take you. And with innovative features such as 4K Photo and Post-Focus, it's never been easier to capture the exact frame that you visualized when looking through the lens. What's more, with simple control and connectivity, you can share your adventure with friends and family at the press of a button.
Capture your travels in outstanding quality
The 1-inch sensor's large pixels are capable of capturing more light, resulting in shots that look crisp, clear and natural, even when photographing at high ISO, such as dusk and dawn. The Venus engine also provides unrivalled color accuracy for a travel camera - the unique hues, saturation and luminosity of a multi-colored sunset, for example, are individually processed and carefully adjusted to reproduce breathtakingly authentic results.
The LUMIX DMC-ZS100 is the first in its series to incorporate a F2.8-5.9 LEICA DC lens, which allows you to achieve true-to-life images with stunning depth of field. The lens also features a versatile 10x zoom range of 25mm-250mm (35mm camera equivalent), making it ideal for photographing birds and other elusive wildlife.
In addition to stunning photo quality, the camera also provides 4K video recording capability that fits easily into your pocket. The LUMIX DMC-ZS100 offers smooth, high quality video recording in 4K 3840x2160 at 24 and 30 fps in MP4; as well as high-resolution Full HD 1920x1080 60p videos in MP4. With four times the resolution of Full HD, the resulting 4K video brings the sights and sounds of your travels to life, just as you remember capturing it.
Achieve professional quality results, every time
As well as recording high resolution videos, the camera's 4K capability also enables you to capture accurate photos like never before. For the first time in a travel camera, Panasonic's 4K Photo function allows you to extract an 8-megapixel still from 4K video (30fps) with total control and precision, so even fleeting events, such as the exact moment you hit the water diving into the sea, can be captured and enjoyed for a lifetime.
Another new addition to the LUMIX ZS range is the Post-Focus feature, which allows you to choose the focal point of any picture, even after it's taken. The LUMIX DMC-ZS100's 0.1s Light Speed Auto Focus and Depth from Defocus (DFD) capability combine to calculate the distance between the camera and the subject, capturing optimal focus for 49 individual areas within each frame. Once the photo is taken, you can then manually select the exact area you want to focus on - from the minutiae of your subject's eye, to an individual bird as a flock takes flight. What's more, from a single photo you can export multiple shots with different focal points.
In complete control of your creativity
With such a wide array of advanced functions and controls, the LUMIX DMC-ZS100 has been designed for fast and practical usability. The Live View Finder (LVF) features 1,166K-dot resolution, as well as LVF AF that detects when you're about to take a shot. The camera also provides extensive manual controls so you can put your photography skills to the test, including dedicated physical rings and dials for settings such as zoom, aperture, shutter speed, manual focus and ISO level.
Share your memories
Once you've captured an array of beautiful photos and video, the LUMIX DMC-ZS100 makes it fast and simple to share them with friends and family. Combining Wi-Fi and QR code connectivity, it is easy to connect the camera to a smartphone or tablet, allowing you to post to social media almost as soon as they've been recorded.
Additional features
-- 3.0inch 1,040k dot touch screen-

New 12.5" screen size semi-rugged tablet meets field demands in government & enterprise markets
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --Panasonic, an industry leader in exceptionally reliable and innovative mobile computers, today announced the 12.5" Toughpad(®) FZ-Q1, the latest member of its Toughpad family of enterprise-grade ruggedized tablet devices. With an Intel processor and running Windows 8.1 Pro, this business-grade tablet is designed for the highly mobile field worker, in either government or private sectors, who needs a device more durable than a consumer tablet. Applications include code enforcement, home health, transportation, POS retail environments, small business applications and more. To meet varying market needs, the device will come in two configurations, a performance version featuring an Intel(®) Core(TM) i5-4302Y vPro(TM) processor and a standard model with an Intel(®) Celeron(®) processor N2807.
"When fully rugged notebooks were introduced, we slowly saw the demand grow for similar solutions that were less robust," said Jan Ruderman, Vice President, Business Mobility Group, Panasonic System Communications Company of North America. "The tablet market is following this path, but at an accelerated pace. Many applications don't require a fully rugged device, and as a result, businesses felt compelled to purchase consumer-grade solutions. Unfortunately, those tablets don't provide the reliability, usability and security businesses require and consumer device manufacturers typically don't have the sales and services infrastructure needed to support enterprise customers. The Toughpad FZ-Q1 meets the needs of businesses, in less demanding user environments, that want to experience the mobility and productivity benefits of a ruggedized tablet."
The Toughpad FZ-Q1 provides the ideal level of durability for light duty field work. With a shock absorbing case and a magnesium alloy chassis, the device can withstand drops, comes with a fanless design and is resistant to dirt and dust. It is the perfect mobile computing companion for the highly mobile worker who needs a semi-rugged device.
This purpose-built device features a Full High Definition, 350 nit, 10 finger touch, screen with an anti-reflective (AR) screen treatment. Other usability features include an easy grip bottom cover, integrated stylus, fast charging battery that outperforms consumer grade tablets.
When it comes to connectivity, the Toughpad FZ-Q1 offers a broad selection of options, with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, an optional 4G LTE multi carrier with satellite GPS. The device also features USB 3.0, MicroSDXC, a 2MP webcam, 8MP rear facing camera. Unlike consumer designed tablets, the Toughpad FZ-Q1 has integrated options for insertable or contactless SmartCard readers, a must for many Government and healthcare users.
A broad selection of accessories will be available for the Toughpad FZ-Q1, notably a spill resistant, backlit keyboard with carrying strap. It allows post edit effects to be added to a recorded video, such as zooming(2), panning(3), tracking and stabilizing. The edited video is saved in Full-HD format. This function is especially appreciated by those who want to create high-quality Full-HD videos.
Capture everyone's memorable moment with Simultaneous Recording
HC-WXF991 and HC-VX981, HC-W580 and HC-V380
Wireless Multi Camera is a new function evolved from Panasonic's original Wireless Twin Camera, which enables picture-in-picture recording using a Wi-Fi-connected smartphone as a sub-camera.
While Wireless Twin Camera links to only one smartphone, Wireless Multi Camera connects to as many as three smartphones and records up to two sub-window images instead of one. This lets the user shoot from a variety of angles and viewpoints to capture a level of emotional impact that simply is not possible with a single camera.
Twin Camera Lets You Capture Alternate Shooting Scenes W580
The Twin Camera feature with a pan/tilt sub-camera on the edge of the LCD monitor allows simultaneous recording of images from two different angles. Also provided are a Narration mode that emphasizes the camera user's voice in recording and a backup function that simultaneously records images without the sub-window giving great flexibility to the user.
5-Axis Level Shot Function for Blur and Tilt Free Images
HC-WXF991 and HC-VX981, HC-W580, HC-V380 and HC-V180
All new models feature Panasonic's original Level Shot function, which detects and corrects the tilting of captured images, as well as 5-Axis Hybrid O.I.S.+. No matter which model is selected, these functions thoroughly suppress blurring caused by various types of hand-shake and automatically correct the tilting of captured images that may be unnoticed by the camera user while recording.

Panasonic Automotive Premiers World Class ELS Studio® Premium Audio System in Next-Generation Acura NSX Supercar
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The revolutionary ELS Studio Premium Audio sound system, created by Panasonic Automotive in collaboration with eight-time Grammy Award-winning producer/engineer Elliot Scheiner, will debut in the 2017 Acura NSX, the supercar designed, developed and manufactured in the U.S., during CES 2016.
Panasonic and Scheiner initially collaborated on the first ELS Surround System for Acura in 2003. After more than a decade of refinement, the most current system -- ELS Studio Premium Audio -- is engineered specifically for the Acura NSX and features nine-speakers and 580 watts of amplification.
"The ELS Studio Premium Audio sound system has been fully customized for the Acura NSX, further elevating the vehicle as the ultimate supercar," said Tom Dunn, director of the audio solutions business unit at Panasonic Automotive. "Premier craftsmanship and engineering have gone into this ground-breaking sound system. Our North American based acoustic engineering team continues to develop and deploy new technologies to advance and enhance the performance of the ELS Studio audio systems."
There were many challenges in creating an audio system to match the high performance requirements of the NSX. The ELS Studio system was developed with all-new lightweight components. With nine speakers, the system boasts twice the power to the front door speakers and is the first ELS Studio system with a rear center speaker, creating seamless surround imaging for all occupants in the vehicle. It is also the world's first production audio system with Panasonic's patented Acoustic Motion Control(TM) technology. As the first ELS Studio system to be used in a two-seat sports car, the system features the spacious imaging of a much larger vehicle or listening room.
"This system is a differentiator and an example of the painstaking efforts made by the Acura engineers, the Panasonic Automotive team and myself to achieve a high level of performance," said Elliot Scheiner, Grammy award-winning producer and engineer. "The ELS Studio system in the Acura NSX features remarkable clarity and definition combined with energetic bass response to create a listening experience which is vibrant and visceral." The ELS Studio Premium Audio system will premiere in the Acura NSX on January 6, 2016 at the Panasonic exhibit during CES. The Acura NSX will launch this spring.
Created to bring a new experience to the supercar segment, the next-generation Acura NSX challenges conventional beliefs about supercars, much as the first generation did a quarter century ago. Combining cutting-edge and world-first technologies, the 2017 NSX breaks the mold through a first-of-its-kind Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive power unit, a multi-material body structure, advanced aerodynamics and a cockpit that supports performance driving on every level without sacrificing comfort. The 2017 Acura NSX is the only supercar designed, developed and manufactured in the U.S. with production exclusively at the Performance Manufacturing Center in Marysville, Ohio(1).
"The NSX challenges conventional notions of supercar performance with advanced Acura technologies that engage the driver at every level," said Jon Ikeda, vice president and general manager of Acura. "Creating a world-class sound environment in the passenger cabin was essential in complementing the NSX's world-class driving experience."

Technics All-in-One OTTAVA(TM) SC-C500 HiFi System Combines Breathtaking Audio Quality with Elegant Design
Compact stereo amplifier and high performance speakers bring high resolution audio to your home
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --Technics has today announced at CES 2016 the new premium all-in-one OTTAVA(TM) SC-C500 HiFi System, the latest addition to Technics' range of HiFi systems which offers a compact design and stunning audio quality that will enhance the style of any home.
OTTAVA(TM) SC-C500 HiFi System: All-in-one style and performance
Technics has used its many years of experience engineering some of the most advanced home audio technology to create the ultimate compact Network CD Stereo Amplifier. Incorporating many of Technics' groundbreaking components, such as the JENO Engine, LAPC and Battery Driven Clock Generator, OTTAVA's main amplifier unit is able to deliver an audio experience typically associated with significantly larger amplifiers.
Small and sleek, the OTTAVA(TM) SU-C500 is perfectly suited to homes and apartments with limited space. And by using only the most premium materials, the system boasts a finish that looks stunning from every angle.
Technics' new all-in-one system allows you to enjoy music with the very highest sound quality and from a diverse range of sources and devices. Whether you're listening via high-res network audio, CD, USB memory device, USB-DAC or smartphone, control is easy and efficient, thanks to the latest Technics smartphone app.
The OTTAVA(TM) speaker system has two woofers arranged symmetrically to reduce cabinet vibrations, as well as a spiral acoustic port design to produce rich and powerful bass that fills the room. The result is high-quality and immersive sound from a HiFi system that can subtly fit into the corner of a room or small cabinet.
In addition to robust bass, the speaker system delivers outstanding performance across an extensive audio range. As the behavior of sound waves differs depending on the specific pitch, the OTTAVA(TM) speakers employ different technology to emit either high or low frequencies. Low/mid frequency sounds are diffused by a reflector for clarity and resonance, while tweeters are arranged in a multi-angled configuration to deliver crisp and accurate high-frequency sounds.
As well as featuring a sleek and stylish finish, the shape of the speaker cabinet is also designed to prevent tweeter-emitted sounds interfering with the sounds from the other speaker units. This eliminates sound degradation and delivers high-quality sound in your home, regardless of where you're standing.

Technics Redefines the Direct-Drive Turntable with the Launch of Next-Generation Reference Model
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Technics has today announced the return of its direct-drive turntable based on a newly designed direct-drive motor. The Technics 50(th) anniversary limited edition Grand Class SL-1200GAE and non-limited Grand Class SL-1200G have been developed for audiophiles looking to rediscover and experience the uniquely warm sound quality of analogue vinyl discs.
The Vinyl Revival
Due to the widespread use of CDs, turntable systems have been absent as major competitors in the audio market, however an ever increasing consumer interest in vinyl records has prompted the launch of a new system for HiFi use.
Overcoming Analogue Issues of the Past
Direct drive turntable systems have been beloved by HiFi enthusiasts since their birth in 1972. However, one problem that direct-drive systems have always faced was sound quality degradation caused by 'cogging', or tiny vibrations of the motor and rotational speed fluctuations. However, by combining the knowledge and expertise gained as the originator of direct-drive turntable systems with a newly developed coreless direct-drive motor without iron core, this 'cogging' can be eliminated. Any potential minute motor vibrations are suppressed even further by high-precision rotary positioning sensors guided by a microprocessor controlled system; a feature unique to the new Technics turntable.
The Technics turntable aims to provide the smoothest possible rotary control by the use of an encoder at the bottom of the motor which detects the precise rotating angle.
Furthermore, a twin rotator construction reduces the bearing load while maintaining high torque and also limits minute vibration during rotation making it possible to reproduce the warm sound and subtle nuances of musical expression engraved in the analogue record grooves and craved for by vinyl lovers.
Broadcast Proven Quality Three-layered Turntable
The turntable has a three-layered construction consisting of a rigidly combined heavyweight brass and aluminum die cast platter, and deadening rubber, covering its entire rear surface. This eliminates unnecessary resonance, achieving high rigidity and vibration damping. The smooth rotational stability and inertial mass even surpasses the Technics SP-10MK2, the direct-drive turntable standard used in the past by broadcast stations worldwide.
High Dampening Tonearm
The tonearm employs a lightweight material (aluminum for the SL-1200G and magnesium for the SL-1200GAE) which has been cold drawn to improve the characteristics of the material and increase the dampening effect.
In addition, high initial-motion sensitivity is attained by employing the traditional Technics gimbal suspension construction with the horizontal rotation axis and the vertical rotation axis intersecting at a single central point, as well as high-precision bearings using a cut-processed housing.
Four-layered Cabinet Construction
A hairline-processed, 10-mm-thick top panel of immaculate aluminum has been added to the previous three-layered construction of aluminum die cast, Bulk Moulding Compound (BMC) and heavyweight-class rubber of the SL-1200MK5. This four-layered construction combines high rigidity with a premium finish and feel.
Released Later This Year
To celebrate the launch of this new Technics SL-1200 development, the Technics 50(th) anniversary limited edition Grand Class SL-1200GAE will be available from summer with a limited serial number plate and restricted global quantity of 1,200 pieces while the Grand Class SL-1200G will be available in late 2016.

Panasonic Announces Collaboration with Honeywell for Home Monitoring
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Panasonic announced today at CES 2016 a collaboration with Honeywell, a leader in the home technology industry, to integrate select Honeywell thermostats into Panasonic's DIY Home Monitoring System.
This relationship further enhances the Home Monitoring System that offers the latest in wireless communication technology. The system allows you to remotely activate appliances, lights and devices in your home, perform surveillance and monitor your baby or pet. The packages utilize both telephone and video technology where Panasonic is a technology leader.
The Panasonic Home Monitoring System is extremely easy to install. Powerful and compact, the DECT-enabled hub unit connects enabled devices to a secure long range (up to 1000ft.) platform which can be placed in any room or space. It connects in seconds to your Wi-Fi router with the push of a button enabling you to control the system from your smartphone, tablet and system handset. There is no Ethernet cable necessary; as the hub operates completely on Wi-Fi. There is also no need for a PC to set-up the Wi-Fi connection as you only need a smartphone or the system handset. Unlike other systems, there is no monthly fee as remote monitoring and control is free of charge.
Additionally there are several new Panasonic peripherals available from Panasonic that enhance the customizable Home Monitoring installation. These include:
-- Glass Break Sensor which picks up the sound frequency of glass breaking
and will notify you via smartphone that a window or sliding glass door
has been broken. This can be linked to a siren.

tilted (by opening it) past the threshold degree, you will be notified
via smartphone.
-- Smart Motion Light is outdoor LED light that can be linked to a siren or
interior lights via a smart plug. Once the motion is detected, the light
goes on and can trigger other sensors.

The camera offers smooth, high quality video recording in 4K 3840x2160 at 30 fps in MP4, as well as high-resolution Full HD 1920x1080 60p videos in MP4.
Panasonic has also utilized 4K to help take photo accuracy to a new level. For the first time in a travel camera, Panasonic's 4K Photo function allows you to extract an 8-megapixel still from 4K video (30fps) with amazing precision. The feature provides the perfect solution for capturing those fleeting moments, whether it's timing the kids jumping into a pool or a dolphin breaching the waves.
Another new addition to the LUMIX ZS range is the Post-Focus feature, which allows you to select the focal point of your picture, even after it's taken. The LUMIX DMC-ZS60's outstanding autofocus capability calculates the distance between the camera and the subject, capturing the optimal focus for 49 individual areas within each frame. Once the photo is taken, you simply select the precise area you want to focus on - for example your family in the foreground, or the stunning scenery behind them. What's more, with the option to export multiple photos from a single shot, you'll never have to choose between the two.
Hone your camera skills
If you're looking to develop your photographic skills, the LUMIX DMC-ZS60 provides extensive and easy-to-use manual settings. A dedicated Control Ring gives smooth control of settings such as zoom, aperture and shutter speed, allowing you to concentrate on lining up the prefect shot. Similarly, a 3.0-inch 1040k-dot touch screen makes navigating menus and selecting your preferred setting incredibly quick and easy, even in bright sunlight.
Share your memories
Once you've selected your favorite holiday snaps on the LUMIX DMC-ZS60, you can share them with friends and family with the press of a button. Simply connect to a smartphone or tablet to share your pictures on social media, attach them to an email or view remotely on a bigger screen.
Additional features
-- 0.2-inch 1,166k-dot Electronic View Finder
-- 1/2.3" High Sensitivity MOS
-- 5 AXIS HYBRID Optical Image Stabilization
-- Contrast Auto Focus with DFD Technology
-- 10fps burst photo mode (full resolution - 5fps with AF)

Panasonic Automotive Unveils OneConnect(SM), the First-Ever Vehicle-Centric Marketing and Content Delivery Platform to Connect Drivers Directly with the Brands they Trust
New level of personalized message delivery and analytics launched and integrated with Personal Radio by AUPEO!®
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Panasonic Automotive debuted OneConnect(SM), its most innovative content delivery platform to date, at CES 2016 today. OneConnect, the platform that Panasonic's Personal Radio by AUPEO! content service is built upon, now features a new preferred brand loyalty actions service that allows car companies and other brands to directly communicate with drivers and provide them with relevant content and contextual information.
At last year's CES, Panasonic introduced Personal Radio by AUPEO!, a service that lets consumers easily listen to their favorite on-board and off-board music mixed with an individually personalized selection of news and sports from local and global sources. By extending the OneConnect platform, Panasonic Automotive adds an even more sophisticated level of interaction by seamlessly integrating relevant messages to the driver.
OneConnect is available to auto manufacturers to add as an audio integration feature that allows them to connect with drivers through their infotainment systems. For example, notifications on software updates, service reminders and other messages can be seamlessly integrated into vehicle audio at convenient and unobtrusive times for the driver.
The effectiveness of the audio message clips is measured through actions that, for example, enable the driver to more easily initiate phone calls, schedule software updates and set reminders, making the OneConnect platform an end-to-end solution from content authoring to analytics.
"This is the future of OEM communication with their customers," said David Taylor, chief executive officer and managing director of Aupeo, GmbH. "The vehicle remains the number one listening location for most consumers, and now, for the first time ever, brands can send targeted information directly to an engaged audience."
Additionally, drivers will be able to sign up for updates from other brands to receive real-time information. For example, at their request, OneConnect can update a driver on flight information or a special offer from a business that they are near.
"This is one more giant step in adding a personalized level of service and usefulness to the in-vehicle customer experience," Taylor added. "OneConnect provides auto manufacturers with a direct communication channel to their customers, and drivers receive important, relevant information audibly and visibly right when they need it."
Personal Radio by AUPEO! is currently available on more than five million vehicles globally, covering 20 brands including Ford, VW, Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Toyota, Jaguar and Land Rover. Personal Radio by AUPEO! has also been enhanced and includes these key features:
-- Mixed radio stations that combine music and talk content to create a
single personalized driver-friendly audio feed;
-- On-demand and personalized news, weather, traffic and sports; and
-- Automotive grade quality of service features including advanced
bandwidth optimization that allows the user to mix their own music into
stations to reduce data plan costs
The platform allows auto manufacturers to create their own user experiences and user interface designs for all on-board and connected audio content to meet their brand needs and best practices. With the addition of CRM capability to the OneConnect platform, manufacturers can now also tailor customer service options to individually connect with, understand, and engage their drivers.
The OneConnect platform is currently in production and in market with more than 20 brands.
