VTech's Wireless Monitoring System Offers Modern Homeowners a Personalized Smart Home
Expansive product portfolio offers consumers a customized smart home system providing added convenience and peace of mind
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- VTech understands that consumers want to know that their home - and everyone in it - is safe and sound. This week at CES, VTech(®) Communications, Inc. will be showcasing their portfolio of Ultra Low Energy (ULE) home monitoring products designed to offer consumers peace of mind with an affordable home monitoring technology that is easy to use, easy to install and easy to customize for today's modern homeowner.
VTech's Wireless Monitoring System provides homeowners with state-of-the-art monitoring for every corner of their home at an affordable price. And the free mobile app gives consumers remote access and control, even when they're not at home.
With a comprehensive product portfolio, consumers can build a customized home monitoring system that fits their unique lifestyle on a budget that's right for them. From an advanced cordless phone system with built-in alerts, to pre-packaged monitoring bundles, homeowners can find the perfect system for their family and home.
Equipped with ULE - a technology, based on the DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) standard, operates on a reserved band that is free of interference and delivers extended range - VTech's new wireless monitoring system products are affordable, easy to install and use, and able to work at longer ranges than current home monitoring solutions on the market today.
The new product portfolio includes:
-- Connected Baby Monitors: Parents can choose from a variety of audio and
video monitors to easily stay connected with their little ones. Whether
they want to check in by video or simply say 'hello' over the talk-back
intercom, parents can keep up with what's going on in the nursery using
VTech's free app. With ULE open/closed and motion sensors, parents can
also receive alerts if their toddler is somewhere off-limits or getting
into something they shouldn't be.
-- Smart Home Phone System: Homeowners who want an in-home monitoring
system can program this advanced cordless phone to notify them if any of
their ULE sensors have been triggered. Users can receive alerts directly
on their handset or via a call to any phone when they forget to close
the garage door, when a window or door opens unexpectedly, or when
motion is detected by a sensor in their home. Users can even add on
additional open/closed and motion sensors to fit their home's needs.
-- Connected High-Definition (HD) Cameras: VTech's HD, remote-access
cameras give consumers an extra set of eyes and ears while at home or
away. They can view and record high-definition video directly through an
app on their mobile device. The app can also notify homeowners with push
notifications whenever the camera detects motion.
-- Smart Home Hub: The IP hub is the command center for the smart home.
Homeowners can pair with VTech ULE sensors to create a complete home
monitoring solution ready to keep them informed of what's going on at
home directly from an app on their mobile phone. Users can mix and match
sensors and devices to create a custom system for their home.
-- ULE Smart Home Sensors and Devices: A wide variety of wireless ULE
sensors will be available to supplement the company's wireless
monitoring solutions, including smart LED light bulbs that homeowners
can control with the touch of a button. Whether they want to simply turn
on and off their lights, control the color and brightness to fit their
mood, or even schedule lights to turn on and off remotely, it can all be
done right from their mobile devices. Additionally, a wireless wall
switch is available to enable the same control right from the home.
Homeowners can also pair their IP Hub with AC power outlet controls that
let them turn on/off anything that traditionally plugs into a standard
AC outlet. Best of all, users can mix-and-match any variety of ULE
sensors to fit their home's needs. Additional sensors include-
open/closed, motion, glass-break and flood sensors.
"Whether at home or away, every homeowner wants to know that their home and family is safe and protected. With so many smart home and monitoring technologies on the market, it can be difficult to know which solution is best for your specific needs," said Matt Ramage, Senior Vice President of Sales and Product Management, VTech. "That's why we've designed a new, all-encompassing Wireless Monitoring System for the home that's easy to use, install and customize, making it easy for today's homeowner to build a smart home system that fits their needs and gives them the peace of mind they want and deserve."

ULE Technology Changes the Game for the Connected Home
ULE is the newest proven communications standard known for its reliability, security and long range. IHS Research predicts that as many as 50 million ULE products will be sold in 2015 alone. The technology operates on a reserved, DECT 1.9GHz-frequency band that is free of interference and delivers extended range. As a result, homeowners can run all their VTech sensors and control devices on a point-to-point, encrypted network with up to nearly 1,000 feet of range. Other available technologies require multiple AC-powered repeaters to reach the same range, which drives up costs and makes those mesh networks less reliable. ULE is also one of the most energy-efficient smart-home technologies available today.

Slendertone Introduces First Smart Fitness Wearable to Actively Engage and Tone Muscles at 2016 International CES
New Slendertone Connect Abs Revolutionizes Muscle Toning Category with Interactive Mobile App, Online Portal
NEW YORK, Jan. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Slendertone, the world leader in developing advanced technology products that improve muscle tone, is unveiling the new Slendertone Connect Abs at the 2016 International CES tradeshow. The first smart toning ab belt to actively engage and tone core muscles, the Slendertone Connect Abs delivers clinically proven Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) technology through an interactive mobile app and online experience to help men and women tone, firm and strengthen their core muscles.
Combining the power of Slendertone's FDA approved abdominal strengthening system and the personalization of smartphones and tablets, Slendertone Connect Abs revolutionizes the concept of muscle toning. Slendertone Connect Abs is a virtual trainer controlled via an iOS app that connects using Bluetooth Smart technology and offers five goal-driven programs -- Essential Toning, Upcoming Event, Post-Natal, Fitness and Advanced Toning -- that offer customized user feedback, tracking, motivation and content. Users can use the app and online portal to create their own profile, set goals and monitor daily progress in real time.
"We are thrilled to announce the new Slendertone Connect Abs as a true innovation in the muscle toning and fitness wearable categories and are excited to share this new product with users looking to boost their muscle tone and fitness as well as overall body confidence," said Mike Nohilly, Vice President, Slendertone North America. "The level of program customization combined with the interactive mobile and online platforms allow each user to have a truly unique and personalized experience that is tailored to help them meet their toning goals, whatever they may be."
The Slendertone Connect Abs app tracks and shares data points including intensity levels, program and toning progress and F.I.T. scores. The F.I.T. score is a weekly power score measuring the user's progress against their individual toning program including Frequency, Intensity and Toning, allowing users to earn badges based on their toning achievements and F.I.T. scores. The app also invites users to join the Slendertone community to benchmark against other users and share progress results.
Additionally, the online portal also serves as a user hub to track progress, showcase badges and share content including relevant fitness and exercise articles, videos and tips. Users also receive personalized communication including weekly newsletters, content based on their motivation and usage behavior, and reminders to replace the patented gel pads after the appropriate amount of time.
With a new sleek aesthetic, the Slendertone Connect Abs is designed to offer better compression and supplement users' regular fitness routines; the ab belt can be worn while exercising at the gym or while completing other daily tasks. The Slendertone Connect Abs uses EMS toning technology to create a gentle current that engages the abdominal muscles, mimicking the body's natural muscle movements. Slendertone's patented gel pad placement targets and activates all three major abdominal muscles simultaneously for maximum toning, activating even the most difficult to reach core muscles responsible for defining the body's shape.
All Slendertone products are FDA approved and clinically proven to strengthen, firm and tone all major abdominal muscles with visible results in six to eight weeks when used at least five days per week for 30 minutes.
The Slendertone Connect Abs will be available in February at Slendertone.com and in-store and online at retailers nationwide including Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and Bloomingdales, as well as Nordstrom.com. The Slendertone Connect Abs has a suggested retail price of $229.

Through its BMR parentage, Slendertone products are of medical device quality, supported by strong clinical evidence and subjected to controlled product trials. BMR is backed by 50 years of experience, and thousands of doctors and physical therapists rely on BMR products every day to help improve the lives of over 200,000 patients every year. Since 2000, Slendertone has sold over seven million Abs belts worldwide.
About EMS Technology
Slendertone products apply natural body science and deliver impressive toning results thanks to clinically-proven EMS technology. During exercise, your muscles naturally respond to signals sent by your brain and EMS technology works in the same way, reaching all targeted muscles in one short session while you carry on with your daily routine or as part of your exercise regime.
Slendertone's EMS technology is applied through pads positioned on selected muscle groups. The pads stimulate nerve endings that create deep, comfortable muscle contractions in all the surrounding muscles, not just those directly under the pads. As a result, targeted and neighboring muscles begin to strengthen and tone.
For maximum results, Slendertone products are to be used as part of a healthy, balanced lifestyle.

Whirlpool Unveils Revolutionary, Pantry-Inspired Smart Home Refrigerator
Award-Winning French Door Refrigerator is the Industry's[i] Easiest to Organize with Unique Shelving System for More Storage
BENTON HARBOR, Mich., Jan. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Completely and intuitively re-imagined on the inside, the pantry-inspired layout in the Whirlpool® Smart French Door Refrigerator is designed to use space more efficiently with a unique shelving system for families to fit and find all their edible favorites, making it the easiest refrigerator to organize.¹
With pantry shelves that store 30 percent more¹, the refrigerator won top honors with two 2016 CES Innovation Awards in the Smart Home and Home Appliances categories.
"The market has traditionally provided stagnant, similarly spaced interiors, and has not been responding with new designs that account for which items people reach for most often," said Shannon Blakely, brand manager, Whirlpool brand. "Based on global food trends and family observations about how they store food, a team of Whirlpool consumer researchers, designers and product engineers helped design an interior space that moves the least-used, small items out of the way to create easier access to larger items, improves visibility of all items and reduces the need for re-shuffling."
Industry's¹ Easiest to Organize Refrigerator Based On A Radically New Interior Configuration
Whirlpool® designers considered everything from the grocery store produce aisle to the modern kitchen pantry in developing this refrigerator that does more than keep food cold.
Every section, every shelf, every bin in the French Door Refrigerator was re-designed to deliver smart organization with greater access and better visibility to change the way families think about storing food. Key innovations include:
-- Infinity slide shelves line the perimeter of the fridge, so families can
move small items to the edges and make room for big, high-use items
front and center. The shelves are precisely spaced apart based on common
sizes of food packaging so that yogurts, spaghetti jars, 12-pack soda
boxes and egg cartons fit perfectly. And, they glide just as far as
needed to accommodate taller items like corked wine bottles and
pitchers.
-- Industry-first "flippers" allow families to adjust the shelves up or
down without having to clear the shelves completely.
-- With an understanding of what families buy most, the PerfectPlaces(TM)
system has just the right spot reserved for every item, so the
refrigerator and freezer spaces no longer become a dumping ground with
overflowing bins.
-- Gallon door bins give families the most gallon door bin storage in
the industry.[ii]
-- From chocolate to cheese to kid's snacks, a small items bin and
treasure(TM) bin help keep the little items in clear sight.
-- Asymmetrical crispers are designed with dividers to display fresh
produce like bell peppers up front, and store bags of apples in the
back. The biggest crispers in the market³ were thoughtfully
designed to hold common foods and packaging like unwieldy long and
wide celery stalks and large plastic lettuce containers.
-- A full-width "platter pocket" shelf, which slides out entirely to get to
favorite foods easier. It's spaced from the other shelves at a height
specifically for wide, flat items so families have a special spot for
brownie pans, lasagna dishes and pizza boxes.
-- Bright LED undershelf lights in the EasyView(TM) system boast 40 percent
more brightness under the shelf to help illuminate even those far-back
corners where half-filled condiment jars have been known to hide for
years.
-- The StoreRight(TM) system's dual cooling allows for fresh and frozen
foods to be maintained at the perfect temperatures using sensor
technology. Dual cooling also measures humidity levels and adjusts the
temperature automatically, without the need to manually adjust.
-- Always be ready for unexpected guests with the ReadySet(TM) system with
dual icemakers that make more than twice the ice.[iii]
Making Care More Intuitive with Smart Home Technology
The Smart French Door Refrigerator also helps make care more intuitive, with home automation features that offer families peace of mind.
"Whirlpool brand designs products with innovations that fulfill a human need and deliver a real purpose to our consumer, all inspired by the way families care for each other," said Ben Artis, senior manager for connectivity strategy, Whirlpool Corporation. "That is no different from how we approach smart technology. A smart home should work in concert with what families are already doing and adapt to those human behaviors - that's why we designed this new smart refrigerator to include special modes like automatically making more ice for a large dinner party."
The following features help cater to distinct needs[iv]:
-- Uses smart notifications to alert families of a power or WiFi outage,
and even reminds them to change the air and water filters.
-- Showcases customized settings, including Party Mode. By activating Party
Mode in the Whirlpool® mobile app, the refrigerator automatically makes
ice faster, so hosts have a full bin faster, and also lowers
temperatures inside, anticipating loss of coolness when the fridge doors
open and close more often as families entertain at home.
-- Consumers who are signed up for Nest® Rush Hour Rewards can delay the
defrost cycle to off-peak times through the Whirlpool® mobile app.
-- Features advanced customer care. Through the Whirlpool® mobile app, the
refrigerator displays fault codes and schedules service appointments.
The app even allows customers to check on the status of a request and
easily call to speak to an actual customer care representative live -
the brand's Care Agent promise.
From January 6-9, CES attendees can experience this smart refrigerator and other innovations at Whirlpool brand's booth #74352 in the Family & Technology Marketplace, located at the Sands Expo Center.

More information on Cypress's Automotive LED Driver and broad portfolio of automotive solutions is available at http://www.cypress.com/automotive-led.
"LEDs use less power and are smaller in size than traditional bulbs, offering auto makers the flexibility to create signature lighting effects for their vehicles," said Kiyoe Nagaya, vice president of the Analog Business Unit at Cypress. "Cypress has raised the bar in automotive front lighting with this compelling LED driver solution that can drive a single LED without large, expensive inductors."
In addition, Cypress's new S6BL111A Automotive LED Drivers feature an input voltage range of 4.5-42 V that encompass extreme operating conditions such as cold-cranking--when the automobile engine starter draws an excessive amount of current due to starting the engine in cold temperatures--or load dump--a power surge that occurs when an automobile battery is disconnected while the alternator is supplying current during engine operation. The S6BL111A is a one-channel 1A output LED driver that supports both analog and PWM dimming functions, enabling fine brightness control. The device switching frequency can be set between 205 kHz and 2.1 MHz, with high output current accuracy of +/-2%. The driver also facilitates the design of electrical system safeguards by including System Safety Functions such as over current and voltage protection, as well as the ability to mask undesired LED OPEN diagnosis during cold cranking.
Cypress offers a related kit to help designers evaluate its automotive LED technology. The Automotive LED Driver Evaluation Kit (CYALKIT-L01, CYALKIT-L02) includes an S6BL111A driver, automotive-grade peripheral components, external pins to easily monitor waveforms at each test point, and auxiliary PCB patterns to easily change circuits and add components.

CYPRESS, Calif., Jan. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Clarion Corporation of America, a leader in consumer and commercial mobile electronics, today announced their revolutionary Full Digital Sound audio system, the industry's first in-car audio system to maintain a digital audio signal from the source to the speaker voice coils, resulting in pristine sounding audio with zero loss in quality and no added noise from analog connections. Shifting away from the realm of ordinary, Clarion's new Full Digital Sound system was designed to deliver unprecedented purity and uncompromising quality for today's high-resolution audio tracks while improving power efficiency and reducing component count.
"Clarion has been at the forefront of cutting edge in-car audio products for more than 75 years and we are proud to announce the world's first completely digital high-resolution car audio system," said Allen H. Gharapetian, Vice President of Marketing and Product Planning for Clarion Corporation of America. "Today, nearly all music is digital, yet every car audio system still converts digital signals into an archaic analog signal for amplification. With Full Digital Sound, Clarion rewrote the rules for what a car audio system should be in order to realize the full benefits offered by today's high-resolution digital formats."
Featuring multiple custom-developed LSI chipsets, Clarion's Full Digital Sound system is the first audio system specifically designed for the automotive space capable of maintaining a 96kHz/24-Bit digital audio signal from the source to the speakers without ever converting it to analog or passing a signal through a traditional amplifier. The result is a precise reproduction of high-resolution music files exactly as they were mastered with absolutely no degradation in quality. Traditional audio systems must, at some point, convert digital audio signals to analog simply because traditional loud speakers are analog devices. Full Digital Sound speakers, each equipped with their own LSI chipset, utilize Dnote(TM)[1] digital signal processing to transmit six digital signals to the multi-driver's six-layer multi-voice coils, which delivers precision cone strokes that translate to accurate sound and highly efficient performance.
All Full Digital Sound components, including the processor, commander and digital speakers, are elegantly designed and manufactured using the most advanced technologies, and crafted out of premium materials. The new Full Digital Sound system is also extremely versatile with connectivity options for a wide range of devices. Along with the full digital playback achieved with direct connections to external audio devices and high-resolution compatible smartphones, the Full Digital Sound system has other input options that allow it to work with analog sources, as well as existing car audio source units, both factory installed or aftermarket. Once installed, the system can be simply but expertly tuned using a smartphone or tablet running Clarion's proprietary tuning app. The intuitive app provides end-users with the tools needed to fully customized their audio experience or to let the system be optimally tuned for a specific listening environment.
Main Functions and Features of Clarion's New Full Digital Sound System:
-- Full digital playback with digital-to-digital transmission
-- Equipped with proprietary in-car high output LSI designed to support
96kHz/24-bit source audio and provide 256x oversampling.

"Integrating with IFTTT opens up a world of possibilities and provides users with unprecedented control over their mydlink Home experience."
More About D-Link's "If This Then That" Recipes
mydlink Connected Home users can now create and use "If This Then That" recipes for a range of tasks to simplify and enhance their life:
-- mydlink Wi-Fi Smart Plug: Whether scheduling a fan to turn off when you
leave for work, turning on a stereo every morning to get pumped for the
day, or setting a schedule for the night light to turn off in the kids'
room, with the mydlink Home app and IFTTT, the D-Link Wi-Fi Smart Plugs
make homes brighter, safer and more in tune with you.
-- mydlink Wi-Fi Water Sensor: The Wi-Fi Water Sensor lets users know when

The new storage solution offers a safe and cost-effective alternative to the limited
on-site solutions currently offered on the market. The solution is a special version of IL
Solutions Long-Term Video Hosting services
[http://www.cloudils.com/solutions/long-term-video-hosting ]. It enables law enforcement
agencies to store any amount of data for as long as required in secure cloud data center
storage. The system guarantees that whenever the footage is required as evidential
scrutiny, it is available and ready to use.
"Body worn cameras create huge amounts of data, which cannot be stored for a long time
on traditional onsite solutions," said Elazar Hertz Van-Spiegel, founder and CEO of IL
Solutions. "This information should ideally be stored in a central off-site, secure
storage location."
Many cities across the US started using body worn cameras without realizing the costs
of data storage. For example, the city of Baltimore estimates data storage costs it some
$2.6 million annually.
IL Solutions' new storage solution is much more protected and economical then other
solutions currently offered. The system allows automatic recoding, encryption and
transferring of this highly sensitive information on a daily basis.
The system combines hardware and software, docking stations, encryption servers and
secure storage servers. IL Solutions can also provide the cameras including features such
as built-in GPS and night vision.
At the end of each shift, the police officer connects the camera to a charging station
that downloads the information. One copy remains stored on a local server at the police
station for one month, while a second copy is encrypted and sent through a secure network
to a remote backup server. This makes it an ideal solution for safely storing video
footage for extended periods.

The Future Is Now - Volvo Cars and Microsoft Enable People to Talk to Their Cars
GOTHENBURG, Sweden, January 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --

E-Propulsion at Volvo Car Group.
In recent times Volvo Cars has begun to focus closely on innovations outside the
traditional automotive arena, keen on opening up potential partnerships and new business
models.
"When innovating we are not interested in technology for the sake of technology. If a
technology does not make a customer's life easier, better, safer or more fun, we don't use
it. Let's face it - who hasn't dreamed of talking to their car via a wrist worn wearable?"
said Klas Bendrik Senior Vice President and Group Chief Information Officer at Volvo Car

"Our ongoing partnership with Volvo continues to bring ground breaking technology to
enhance the automotive experience," said Peggy Johnson, Executive Vice President of
business development at Microsoft. "Together with Volvo, we're just beginning to

-- Remote firmware upgrades - Beaconix Smart Beacons dramatically reduce
total cost of ownership by making it unnecessary to dispatch technicians
to thousands of locations
-- Real time updates and programming - Beaconix Smart Beacons can be
instantly configured from the cloud to change the content they transmit;
this is particularly important for beacon networks made available to
third-party applications
-- Bidirectional communications - Beaconix Smart Beacons relay information
bidirectionally between a smartphone and the cloud, allowing retailers
to engage customers even if their stores suffer from a bad Internet
connectivity
-- Asset tracking - Beaconix Smart Beacons use BLE to track assets in their
proximity, opening the door to previously unthinkable applications
-- Sophisticated security measures - Beaconix Smart Beacons benefit from
cloud connectivity to implement the most advanced security methods
Beaconix Smart Beacons are interconnected wirelessly using Bluetooth Smart Mesh. A single Beaconix Controller(TM) connects a large group of Smart Beacons to the Cloud. Each Smart Beacon is independently-controlled and supports:
-- Apple's iBeacon(TM) protocol
-- Google's Eddystone(TM) protocol
-- Beaconix 2WAY(TM) smartphone communications
-- Real Time Locating Systems (RTLS) and other BLE asset tracking
applications
"Standalone beacons are now obsolete; Beaconix is taking proximity services into the IoT world of cloud-connected devices," said Graham Celine, Beaconix's Product Marketing Director, "Every other piece of modern technology deployed in a retail environment, from point-of-sales systems to digital displays, has long been connected to the cloud, and is remotely serviceable. With the introduction of Beaconix's Cloud-Connected Smart Beacons, beacons join the ranks of established, commercially viable technologies."
"Our customers-retailers with hundreds and thousands of stores-have piloted beacons to engage customers visiting their stores, and have confirmed their tremendous potential," said Daniel Dreymann, CEO of Mowingo, whose mobile customer engagement platform is used by major retail brands. "But two main showstoppers have been the lack of reliable internet connectivity in their stores, and the cost associated with periodically dispatching technicians to service thousands of beacons. Beaconix's Smart Beacons effectively solve both problems."
"There is no doubt that Bluetooth Mesh will be the foundation networking technology for the Internet of Things (IoT)," said Alf Helge Omre, Business Development Manager, Bluetooth Low Energy at Nordic Semiconductor ASA. "Using Nordic chips, Beaconix brings to market a Bluetooth Mesh solution ahead of the ongoing standardization efforts, and much ahead of solutions from other vendors, showcasing the superiority of Nordic's technology."

The Future Is Now - Volvo Cars and Microsoft Enable People to Talk to Their Cars
GOTHENBURG, Sweden, Jan. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
- With photo
More than 33 years after the popular American TV show Knight Rider showed David 'The Hoff' Hasselhoff talking to his car KITT, Volvo and Microsoft are launching a wearable-enabled voice control system.
Volvo owners will be able to talk to their car via their Microsoft Band 2, allowing them to instruct their vehicle to perform tasks including setting the navigation, starting the heater, locking the doors, flashing the lights or sounding the horn via Volvo's mobile app Volvo on Call and the connected wearable device.
In November 2015 Volvo and Microsoft announced their high-profile collaboration with the first automotive application of HoloLens technology. HoloLens is the world's first fully untethered holographic computer, which could be used in future to redefine how customers first encounter, explore and even buy cars. Now the two companies are delivering remote voice control for Volvo cars via the Microsoft Band 2 as another proof-point in their ambition to jointly develop next generation automotive technologies.
"Volvo is intent on making the car experience as easy and convenient as possible by utilising the latest technology in the most relevant and inspiring ways. With voice control we are only just beginning to scratch the surface of what is possible with digital assistant functionalities," said Thomas Müller, Vice President Electrics/Electronics & E-Propulsion at Volvo Car Group.
In recent times Volvo Cars has begun to focus closely on innovations outside the traditional automotive arena, keen on opening up potential partnerships and new business models.
"When innovating we are not interested in technology for the sake of technology. If a technology does not make a customer's life easier, better, safer or more fun, we don't use it. Let's face it - who hasn't dreamed of talking to their car via a wrist worn wearable?" said Klas Bendrik Senior Vice President and Group Chief Information Officer at Volvo Car Group.
"Our ongoing partnership with Volvo continues to bring ground breaking technology to enhance the automotive experience," said Peggy Johnson, Executive Vice President of business development at Microsoft. "Together with Volvo, we're just beginning to understand the potential that technology has to improve driver safety and productivity."
The new possibility to connect to a Volvo with voice control through Microsoft Band 2 will be available for customers in Volvo on Call enabled markets in spring 2016.
Note to Editors:
Launched in 2001, Volvo on Call became one of first ever car-based telematics systems in the world, providing both safety, security and tracking services in the car in case of accident, breakdown or theft using a car-installed SIM card. The latest iteration of Volvo on Call still provides the original safety functions as well as a broad range of car and service related functionality.
Today Volvo on Call is available in the following markets: USA, Canada, China, Sweden, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Russia, Poland and Brazil.

Designed and Tested to Provide Better Performance over a Longer Period of Time
HONG KONG, Jan. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Stratasys Asia Pacific, a subsidiary of Stratasys Ltd. (NASDAQ: SSYS), the 3D printing and additive manufacturing solutions company, today announced the MakerBot Smart Extruder+, a new swappable extruder for Fifth Generation MakerBot 3D Printers that is designed and tested for better print performance over a longer period of time. With improved components and an enhanced sensor system, the Smart Extruder+ is designed to provide a streamlined and reliable printing process from start to finish. MakerBot worked closely with its parent company, Stratasys, to put the Smart Extruder+ through extensive product testing and help verify its performance by two independent teams.
"The advances we made with the MakerBot Smart Extruder+ are a big step forward and set a new benchmark in 3D printing," said Jonathan Jaglom, CEO of MakerBot. "The extruder is the most critical part of a 3D printer and it is a part that wears out after a certain period of time and needs to be replaced. We engineered and tested the Smart Extruder+ to enhance its reliability, provide better performance, and extend its lifetime. And we stand behind it by doubling our warranty to six months. Because it is swappable, the Smart Extruder+ can also reduce downtime when it's time to replace it."
MakerBot collaborated closely with its parent company Stratasys on the development and testing of the Smart Extruder+, benefitting from Stratasys' 25 years of industry experience. MakerBot's product testing initiative spanned over 160,000 cumulative hours -- or 18 years -- of print time. A total of 5,800 prints were completed by two groups -- one at MakerBot and one at Stratasys -- to help ensure independent verification of the results. In these tests, the Smart Extruder+ performed consistently and reliably for over 700 hours on a MakerBot Replicator Desktop 3D Printer, which equals 1.44 miles of MakerBot PLA Filament. In fact, over 90 percent of test units were still printing successfully at 1,200+ hours of print time. Generally, the rate of wear on extruders has many variables and is dependent on how it is used and the settings it's configured for over time. MakerBot backs up its commitment to quality by doubling the warranty of the Smart Extruder+ to six months with no limit to the amount of MakerBot PLA put through the extruder, so customers can print with confidence.
The Smart Extruder+ features improved key components to ensure longer-lasting reliability, such as an improved thermal management system and an extended PTFE tube to feed the filament into the nozzle. Additional improvements include faster print start up and refined build plate leveling, the process of calibrating a 3D printer. The smart sensors within the extruder have been enhanced for better performance and to streamline the printing process from start to completion -- which can save time and money. The Smart Extruder+ sensor system communicates with MakerBot Desktop and MakerBot Mobile to keep users informed about the status of a print wherever they go. For example, the filament detection sensor notifies users - on their computer or mobile phone - when filament is absent and automatically pauses a print to enable print recovery.
The streamlined printing process of the Smart Extruder+ can be especially beneficial in the classroom. "The reliability and ease of use is huge for us; it provides more students access to our MakerBot Desktop 3D Printer," said Nicholas Provenzano, a teacher at Grosse Pointe Public Schools in Michigan, who has been using the MakerBot Smart Extruder+ for several weeks. "Our students print all day in our library and I can't always be there to assist them. The MakerBot 3D Ecosystem, and especially the Smart Extruder+, makes it easy for our students to turn their ideas into physical objects. It lets them focus on the design process, which is most beneficial for their education."
The Smart Extruder+ is expected to be available for shipment to end users starting January 18, 2016. Visit the MakerBot website (http://makerbot3d.asia) for more information.
The MakerBot Smart Extruder+ is the latest addition to MakerBot's comprehensive 3D ecosystem that makes 3D printing more accessible. The MakerBot 3D Ecosystem includes MakerBot 3D printers and a 3D scanner; Thingiverse.com, the world's largest 3D printing design community; as well as software like MakerBot Desktop and apps like MakerBot Mobile and MakerBot PrintShop. Blue Spark Technologies Unveils TempTraq Connect at 2016 Consumer Electronics Show
For the First Time Ever, Caregivers Can Remotely Monitor Their Loved Ones' Temperature Anywhere in Real-Time, Providing Peace of Mind
CLEVELAND, Jan. 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- CES Tech West Location - Booth 74848. The CES Innovation Award-winning TempTraq® now offers parents and caregivers the ability to remotely monitor real-time temperature data from anywhere through its new secure TempTraq Connect service. Whether dropping a child off at grandma's for an overnight visit or checking in on a chronically ill parent's recovery, TempTraq Connect makes it possible to stay connected to the ones you love, even at a distance.
The Bluetooth®, wearable temperature monitor comes in the form of a soft, comfortable patch to provide caregivers with continuous temperature data. Additionally, the patch will also be available in a new extended 48-hour version so temperature can be monitored longer when needed.
TempTraq delivers on-the-spot temperature readings in just seconds. The wearable patch alleviates many concerns of those caring for an ill or recovering loved one, including eliminating the need to continually disturb or wake them. TempTraq includes a free downloadable Apple® or Android(TM) compatible app, allowing users to reach a new level of health care for people of all ages.
Simply press the "start" button to activate the temperature monitor and connect it to the app via the unique code provided. Then, apply the thin, flexible patch to the underarm of the patient as directed. As long as the caregiver is within range of the patient, they can easily review data and receive alerts, up to 40 feet away. Thanks to TempTraq Connect, now caregivers can authorize remote users the opportunity to securely view and monitor temperature data so health care decisions can be made sooner, when it matters most.
Unlike other devices that provide users with only one point of data and offer no continuous monitoring or alerts, the TempTraq app displays both real time and historical temperature data transmitted from the patch in graphical or tabular view, making it possible for caregivers to see fluctuations and quickly adapt treatment.
TempTraq further simplifies the temperature reading process by providing easy-to-follow colors that indicate temperature levels: Green, less than 100.4°F; orange, equal to or greater than 100.4°F; red, equal to or above the user-set temperature alert level. Caregivers can even receive alerts when a patient's temperature enters this designated red zone.
For those who want to share temperature data with their doctors or family members, TempTraq allows users to securely send temperature information via email. Through the app, users can also keep track of when the patient eats, drinks or takes medicine. For those caring for multiple people, the TempTraq app conveniently allows them to monitor multiple patches simultaneously.
TempTraq is currently available at temptraq.com, Amazon.com, CVS.com and Costco.com. Manufacturer's suggested retail price is $19.99. It also will be available in Target stores in mid-April.
