(NASDAQ: CY) today announced a new series of the industry's most compact, highly integrated power management ICs (PMICs) that regulate power supply voltage from a vehicle's battery for automotive applications including Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), body control modules and instrument cluster systems. The Cypress S6BP20x series of automotive PMICs leverages a unique one-channel, buck-boost DC/DC converter to enable Electronic Control Unit (ECU) power management solutions to safely manage extreme battery voltage fluctuations. The PMICs enable small form factor ECU power management solutions that use only one tiny ceramic capacitor instead of the two bulky, expensive electrolytic capacitors required by competitive PMICs.
Cypress also added the S6BP50x PMIC series for automotive instrument cluster systems to its portfolio. The 3-channel output PMICs integrate a buck controller, a buck converter and a boost converter, along with a Spread Spectrum Clock Generator (SSCG), all in a single chip. Both new primary PMIC series complement Cypress's secondary power source S6BP40x series, as well as Cypress's Traveo(TM) automotive microcontroller (MCU) family. The Cypress automotive PMICs carry AEC-Q100 automotive qualification.

The ECUs of today's vehicles must be small, low power and able to support system safety functions under all operating conditions, including during cold-cranking--when the automobile engine starter draws an excessive amount of current due to starting the engine in cold temperatures--or load dump--a power surge that occurs when an automobile battery is disconnected while the alternator is supplying current during engine operation. Cypress's S6BP20x automotive PMICs require only nine external components, providing a small PCB layout and reducing the system's bill of materials. The PMICs consume only 20 uA of quiescent current, extending battery life, and they feature an input voltage range of 2.5-42 V that encompasses both cold cranking and load dump conditions. Additionally, Cypress offers the Easy DesignSim(TM) verification tool and evaluation kits to accelerate automotive electronics design.

Gigaclear Trials the UK's First 5Gbps Ultrafast Broadband Service for Home Owners and Businesses
LONDON, November 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Ultrafast pure fibre broadband provider, Gigaclear [http://www.gigaclear.com ], has
launched Britain's fastest internet package for retail customers with up to 5Gbps
broadband speeds. The H5G and B5G services, for home and business customers, offer
download speeds up to 200 times faster and upload speeds 1,000 times faster than the UK
average [1]. Up until now only the UK's largest organisations have been able to have such
speeds.
Available to customers from early 2016 through Gigaclear's existing
fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) network, the ultrafast service significantly reduces the time
taken to upload and download large files. For example, to download a 1,500MB video can
take up to eight minutes on an average UK broadband service. This improves to two minutes
on Gigaclear's 100Mbps service, but will take between just four and six seconds with the
new 5Gbps package.

The new Wi-Fi enabled RemoteLync Camera is cord-free, hub-free, and powered by a rechargeable battery that lasts up to three months on a single charge. Its magnetic base enables the camera to be easily installed nearly anywhere - homeowners aren't limited by proximity to an electrical outlet - and the camera will adjust to almost any angle. The camera immediately records video upon sensing motion, and sends users an alert via a free app on their mobile devices. Trusted members of each user's network also can be notified. The user then can view the video and decide whether to dismiss or save it. Users may also request video clips from five to 30 seconds on demand. The video clips will be available in the app for 12 hours at no charge; during that time users can download directly to a smart device or the cloud, and/or share via social media. Long-term clip storage in the app is available at a minimal cost.

A built-in "pet-mode" minimizes the chance of a pet's movement triggering the device, and it can be customized based on the size of the pet. Detected motion will activate an array of LED lights, which help to illuminate a dark room and allow for clear recording. The lights and optional audible alarm may also deter an intruder.

Huawei also announced that the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center (PSNC) in Poland upgraded its HPC data center with a Huawei PetaFLOPS-class supercomputer.
The ES3000 V3 NVMe PCIe SSD series can improve storage IO performance to meet Big Data and virtualization needs, and is compatible with mainstream operation systems and virtual machine systems. PSNC Challenge
PSNC is affiliated with the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry Polish Academy of Sciences, serves as a major research center in Poland, and appears on the Top 500 list of the most powerful computing systems in the world. PSNC sought to reach peak supercomputing performance with increased density, while simultaneously achieving dramatic improvements in energy efficiency and reducing OPEX.
Solution
In just three days, Huawei deployed a PetaFLOPS-class supercomputer based on the Huawei FusionServer E9000 converged infrastructure blade server chassis with over 1,000 FusionServer CH121 V3 computer nodes. The HPC solution was fully equipped with optimized direct liquid cooling systems, which allowed PSNC to deploy top end performance configuration in a dense blade form factor.
Customer Benefits
PSNC's new Huawei HPC system is capable of achieving theoretical peak performance of 1.37 PFLOPs, and averages efficiency of node at 0.901 TFLOPS. Additionally, the direct cooling system removes up to 80 percent of heat dissipation, thereby reducing cooling system energy costs by around 40 percent as compared to traditional air cooling designs. The energy efficiency should amount to millions of dollars in savings by enabling PSNC to deploy higher compute capacity within the same power, cooling and cost parameters.
